This guide is not intended to help troubleshoot problems with Shadowplay or GFExperience !! It is meant for users who already have Shadowplay WORKING and wish to learn more about it. For GFE issues those questions should be posted here : https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/110/ Anything marked optional is referring to Shadowplay requirements Anything marked optional is referring to Shadowplay requirements Virtually all of the Shadowplay settings that you configure in GFExperience are saved in this registry key Not all of the values within this subkey are formatted as a variable name, but most are and the others can be discovered by tracking program events or inspecting code. The values are all binary format, which means they are little-endian hex. Here are a couple of interesting keys : Stopping Shadowplay Restart Desktop Window Manager ( dwm.exe ) only required once per session when using desktop capture Additional processes NvBackend.exe is started when you open the GFExperience program, but is not required to use Shadowplay. This can be shutdown manually calling the process via shortcut ( or other means ) with the argument “ –shutdown” Here is a shortcut target example: The commands above can be run from a batch file or even from the Run Command window. ( I have included a sample set of batch files as well as a small program to serve as an example ) ManagingSP_batch_files.zip ManagingSP_sample_program.zip If you block these domains and enable the Shadowplay override you can prevent GFE from calling home and still be able to configure Shadowplay in the interface. All download links ( same as the ones above in the article ) ManagingSP_sample_program.zip ManagingSP_batch_files.zip aac_package.zip SP_override.zip Disclaimer -------------------------- THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. Hi All, I have tried to condense this as much as possible Shadowplay has been recording a software that is in the background instead of the game i'm playing and i can't figure out how to change this without closing that other application. For reference I have a 1 ultrawide monitor setup, so it isn't the other issue I've seen while attempting to remedy this where the incorrect monitor records. This means that after i use instant replay to record a clip, im left with just my mic audio and a background program being recorded Here are the programs i was using at the time: Game attempting to be recorded with instant replay: Halo Master Chief Collection (however the same issue occurs in any game) Program that was actually recorded: AirServer for Windows 10 (it is in the background behind the game) Other softwares open: just discord Steps i have tried so far to remedy this: changing the order i open applications, minimize airserver, restart pc. and i can't find a setting for which program is recorded in any of the nvidia settings So, does anyone know a solution? Thank you all in advance for help and for reading such a lengthy post PS: Just Closing AirServer does solve the issue but it would be ideal to avoid this as I use it to airplay from my phone so i can control music (apple music not spotify) on my pc from phone/watch (round about solution ik, but i come up with ridiculous jank solutions to problems like this)

I'm Just curious of what people suggest out in the community in regards to gameplay or screen recording software. I am currently using Nvidia Shadowplay but have come across some issues with it lately. I believe this is something to do with how it records in a variable framerate as when certain games pause during a loading screen, the audio De-syncs (have tried few settings in Sony Vegas and even Handbrake aftrer doing research myself but no luck). Suggestions on fixing this will help or alternative to that, what software do others suggest that is not too taxing on the system. I am aware of OBS but suggestions of recording settings would be nice (for no loss of quality* for 1440p60). to throw more options in, I do own the new M1 Mac Mini and been experimenting with using OBS on it and doing capture card pass through on it but again, quality is an issue... but as said, i am experimenting with that anyway and would possibly be a last resort thing anyway.

Despite having the frame rate set to 60 FPS in the GeForce Experience Video Capture options, my video recordings are created at 30 FPS only since I upgraded from my RTX 2080 Ti. I did a bunch of DDU cleanups, no improvement. After quite some testing, I managed to record 60 FPS clips by setting resolution to 1080p HD (bit-rate of 50 max, it was previously set to In-Game) but the quality isn't great. Because I do have the option to select 60 FPS, I assume this isn't a limitation but an actual problem, 8K resolution being the only resolution forcing 30 FPS selection. Additionally, recorded videos are now H.264 (AVC) encoded and not H.265 (HEVC) compared to higher (1440p+) resolutions recordings but then I run into the problem so videos are at 30 FPS which is what I'm trying to fix here. Monitor: Samsung G9 Odyssey (5120x1440, 32:9, 240 Hz) GPU: RTX 3090 Any assistance will be much appreciated.

Update : I've got it fixed by reinstalling the Windows! (it just so happens that I have a plan to clean my boot drive anyway.) Recently, when I tried to record some footage in game, after pressing alt + z, it'd just appear on desktop and not the game itself (when in game the cursor just wouldn't work). This has happened with all the games I've tested (TF2, SCP:SL, Valorant, Roblox, etc.) so I don't think that it's a game issue. I've also updated the driver, reinstalled it, enable this disable that; basically everything in google, and it doesn't help at all. With that said, is there anyone who has encountered something like this? And if you sorted it out, how did you do it. System (Laptop, Acer Nitro 5) : CPU Ryzen 7 3750H GPU GTX 1650 RAM 8GB DDR4 (2400)

I have a three monitor setup 2x BenQ 24.5" and one Asus 24.5". |BenQ|Asus|BenQ| <-- (Monitor arrangement) with the connection types being |HDMI|DP|DP| on a GTX 1080. Whenever my computer restarts, and I attempt to record a game using ShadowPlay it records the monitor to my right instead of the middle one where the games is open. When I use the Identify button in the Display Settings menu it correctly shows |(3)|(1)|(2)| with the number one monitor having the "Make this my main display" box ticked. But when I use the Colour Management application in Control Panel, and use the Identify monitors button it instead shows |(3)|(2)|(1)|, this seems to be the ordering that ShadowPlay uses to decide which monitor to record. I have tried disconnecting all the monitors except my middle one which works and allows me to record my middle monitor but as soon as the other two monitors are reconnected it switches back to the monitor on the right. The only consistent solution has been to disconnect all monitors except the middle one when the computer is turned off and then connecting the other two once on the desktop of Windows.

So I got a new PSU, because my old Bequiet was only 500w... worked fine though, but I didn't think it's a good idea longterm for a 3070 (with whooping 270w power draw) Anyways so I'm checking if everything works... looking good, benchmarks got a bit better because I removed the power limit and the small underclock I had to keep it safe with the old PSU.... So I start playing the game I always play, suddenly the "boost frequency" is around 1000-1400mhz... so much too low, I used to get around 1950 MHz (with power limit 90 and slight under clock - 25)... so I'm like wtf... runs fine though, like always, no dips... then I noticed Shadowplay turned itself off (it happens, just rarely)... Ok back out the game, turn on Shadowplay... start the game back up... 1950 MHz....!? So nothing appears to be broken but I'm still curious, how? why? that wasn't like that with any other gpu I had... Note GPU usage is up to 100%, CPU usage around 20%, no change at all to before I installed the new PSU... Can someone explain this because it makes no sense to me... shouldn't a 3070 always boost to whatever is the boost clock under load regardless of if Shadowplay is on??? ps: sadly I didn't really test this before switching PSUs, I always play with Shadowplay (and Vsync lol)

I'm trying to find a no-compromise solution to record extremely smooth gameplay footage. I want to achieve the following: 1) Up to 4K60 recordings (usually 1440p) 2) Leaving Gsync enabled on my main monitor 3) Consistent frametimes in the recording 4) Minimal to no performance impact on my gaming PC 5) 1440p 240Hz on my monitor (I'm aware capture card passthrough is limited to 144Hz so I wouldn't use that). I tried the following but encountered issues: 1) GeForce Experience Shadowplay: inconsistent recording frametimes when Gsync is enabled. When I cap my FPS at 60 or disable Gsync, I get smooth recordings. 2) OBS: inconsistent recording frametimes when Gsync is enabled, large performance hit 3) OBS+NDI: recordings seem smoother, but there's still more of a performance hit than Shadowplay. I've heard mixed results about using a capture card and duplicating displays, can anyone confirm if this actually works well? Do most YouTubers/streamers just not use Gsync? Cause I really can't stand tearing. Thanks!

Is there any way to record smooth gameplay while running at an unlocked framerate? I tried Shadowplay and OBS but the recordings always stutter slightly unless I lock my game framerate to 60. This makes sense since an unlocked framerate has uneven frame pacing. I tried capping my game framerate at 120FPS since it's exactly double (which it stays locked at) but that still doesn't end up as smooth as locking it to 60. Is there any way to get around this? Would a capture card make a difference? And if so, is there any way to get a capture card to pass through 1440p 240Hz?

I'm using an external UA-4FX usb audo capture soundcard, and have the drivers installed. When I listen to my self on discord or in obs, the mic quality is perfect, but with shadowplay it's very poor. I check if it's set to the correct input, and it is. Some people suggested to change the quality settings in windows, but it's grayed out for me, like this: At the top it says "Analog input". This is the only active microphone, I disabled all the others.

So i started playing Overwatch about 2 weeks ago, it all went perfectly fine, I've been streaming a lot with OBS, and also recorded with Shadowplay (not at the same time) with no issues, and now it just started giving me "connection to server lost" *every* game... resetting router etc didn't do anything to fix this... So i turned off Shadowplay and used OBS again, and no more "connection" issues... that's really weird, right? I didn't change anything before this started happening, no updates (afaik), etc... literally just turned on Shadowplay and this started happening... Im seeing lots of people having this "lost connection" issue, but no one seems to mention Shadowplay... I dunno maybe i should reinstall the driver? <- actually afaik there was no Overwatch update, but it's possible, i think they roll out stuff timed, like i downloaded an update some days ago, but the issue only appeared today, weirdly enough - really seems like either a bug with the game or Nvidia GFE/Shadowplay. Also not sure where i should post this, seems like a driver issue/ or game related bug? i mean the weird thing is it doesn't crash or anything... it just keeps disconnecting me from the server... Edit: its also not Steam running in background - i tested that... it really seems to be Shadowplay specifically - which I just don't understand why it would disconnect me from Overwatch servers

Hello, i'm using the Acer Aspire 5 ( MX 150....... i 5-8250u 8th gen), just got to discover Nvidia shadowplay is disabled on my GPU, which surprised me. Is there anyway i can get it to work on my RIG.

Hi All, I'm starting to get really p*ssed off with nvidia's shadowplay, by far one of the best "free" screen recorders in terms that it can record 4k at 60fps, but i'm just having so many problems the latest of which is something you can't tell is happening until the recording has finished. at the moment what appears to be happening is that it records in the resolution of my second screen, even though i have set the record res in the shadowplay setting separately to be the same as my primary monitor. this means that the recorded images come out all squashed and distorted and completely unusable, which is extremely annoying after an hour or so of recording as it's just wasted time and footage. does anyone know why this might be happening, or how i could permanently fix this/test it before i spunk an hours worth of time up the wall for nothing? i do test records, with the game and all my other apps open prior to starting the real record and sometimes they turn out fine, and then the real record messes up and i can't tell until i stop recording and review the footage. PLEASE, PLEASE JUST HELP MEEEEEEEEE

I just tried recording Gears of War 4 and other UWA's through shadowplay and noticed that it doesn't work. I tried doing a window capture using OBS and noticed that that doesn't work either. I could get OBS to work with window captures, but for some UWA, I just get a black screen. I could also get GOW4 to work with shadowplay by launching desktop recording then alt tabbing in, but thats a PITA to do every time. Anyone have a work around for this?

Hello i recently upgraded a gtx 760 2gb to a 970 3.5gb and battlefield 1 has started randomly freezing a lot. It would freeze for like half a second every time. the game runs fine without shadowplay at around 70 fps average and with it 70 fps average but game freezes constantly for half a second. the pc is windows 10 64 bit with 8gb ramand a i5 4690k. i already used DDU to remove the driver and updated all drivers on the computer. i also did i reinstall of bf1 wut the problem still persists. i dont want to do a fresh os install and the gpu is already tested to work well in another pc with higher specs in general nothing on the pc is overclocked everything is stock.

Hello! Recently I have been recording a few clips of PUBG. I play at a 2k resolution and wanted to record at that as well (2k60fps). When I record in 1080P I can really knock up my bitrate but when I record in 2k on Nvidia Shadowplay is limited to 50mbps bitrate. It seems like I have some sort of memory bottleneck, one where i need faster memory in order to knock up my video quality. If I upgrade my memory from a SATA SSD to an M.2 drive for video recording (not storage) would I see an improvement in my bitrate and video quality?

The Nvidia Shadowplay don't realy want to work. When I go to settings in GeForce Experience and try to turn on the share option, it says "That didn't work. Try restarting your system".I restarted it and in the settings it have turned on. It says to press Alt+Z to open it but when I press it nothing happens and the "Setting" buton didn't works as well.
