I'm currently in university studying Computer Science. My region allows those with Bachelors to teach in public education (after a two year licensing program after university) for those with technical degrees. My plan is to become an educator in my community which is a bit on the rougher side but still lovely. I've lately been utilizing Microsoft Copilot to aid in my studies. It will create large problem breakdowns for me in subjects I'm struggling in without needing to nag and wait for the professor or search over forums across several web pages which may include contradictory or misleading information. While not perfect it does an overall great job and while I utilize it 9/10 for pure productivity aids, sometimes if tired I've caught myself slipping and just tossing the answer in (I know I'm cheating myself when I do this). This got me thinking, this is going to be a HUGE problem soon isn't it? Its already made some splashes, but like if these language models become so sophisticated we can't tell genuine from generated, how will teachers of the future be expected to teach students? In an ironic twist the same silicon which allowed online schooling seems to be making it obsolete due to the need to guarantee or at least attempt to guarantee no cheating. Students will need to be actively observed while completing ALL assignments. On the bright side this could spell the end of homework as there will be no point in sending assignments home with students if you can't determine what is genuine or generated on a student's assignment.

Hi, I'm currently doing one of my last SAT for one of my units and its a report on a chosen subject, I've decided to go with DLSS and I'm currently in the process of collecting unmanipulated, secondary data. I'm kindly asking (kind of desperately) for anybody who has any spreadsheets comparing DLSS on and off between different GPU's and is willing to share towards my study, since when I can't find any on the web, only manipulated data in forms of graphs. Any advice to get this data would be appreciated too, Thankss Also planning to collect Primary data very soon too! Forgot to specify, The focus on my study is the increase of performance with DLSS. The research question is: To what extent does the utilisation of Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) impact the efficiency of frame generation in computer graphics?

Hey all, Our school is starting an esports team. They are willing to build 16 machines but we want to get the cost of each machine around $800-1200. Games being played are not crazy graphic intense. Rocket League, fortnite, brawlhalla, MC, and possibly in the future cod and CS2. We just want to make sure they last 4-5 years. We are reaching out to the community to see if they can recommend us some builds and prices, Newegg, Amazon, etc .. We have extra money for monitors, keyboard, mouse desk, chairs. If anyone is interested in submitting builds around that price range for the tower only we would be appreciated

So for Christmas in school, my teacher wants to run a LAN party in Factorio the only problem is that the school has a really defensive firewall, it also connects every PC to its own Ip so they can not see another Lan party, which is the easiest way around, should I just bring my own network, and host the game off it, if so what do I need to bring. If you have any ideas please feel free to throw them out there Thanks in advanced

Hey guys, I could really use some help choosing a suitable laptop for my bachelors program. From next year I’ll be starting my undergraduate program for computer science and Engineering and I want to buy a new laptop to take me through (at least) my bachelor of 3 years. I want it to have optimal specs for CS related tasks with graphical capabilities for rendering and editing videos. I also want to be able to do light to medium load AI/ML stuff on it. Does anyone here have any suggestions/tips for some things I should be specifically looking for in the laptop I am going to buy? Are there any suitable models / brands that come to mind which have proven to be reliable and a good choice for my purposes? Just some things to keep in mind: - My budget is about €2500 - I live in the Netherlands so I should be able to buy it ( cuz I heard some models are continent specific or something? ) Thank you in advance

Hi everyone! I need to buy a new laptop for work, unfortunately I am not that deep in laptop space. Mainly, I will use it for coding - python and JS. I am looking for something that is (at least) as powerful as Ryzen 5600H. Also I really need a machine that is as quiet as possible because I will be working in semi open space (office room for 5 people). In terms of I/O, HDMI or DP or USB-C, one of these. My budget is 1000$. I was thinking about getting 2 in 1 but I don't know if that is even possible in that price range. I know that I could buy Apple M1, but I am looking for something cheaper. tl;dr: I need laptop that is: - as quiet as possible - as powerful as 5600H (at least) - has one of HDMI / DP / USB-C (at least) Thanks a lot!

Schools have changed a lot since 1996. But Intel has stayed inside the curriculum. Can they be trusted to teach kids about electronics engineering and computers, or are they feeding them product placement?

Here are the requirements for the story. (yes, my teacher made me pick these elements) - The protaganists have to be Lucy and Mr. Tumnus (Narnia) - The villain has to be the White Witch (also Narnia) - It has to take place in the Rocky Mountains. - There has to be a ferret in the story. - It has to have the Ring of Power from LOTW in it - The conflict has to have someones life be saved - IT CANT BE FUNNY (that way, my teacher wont do more of these assignments lmfao) Plz help. I know nothing about writing stories

Hey, everyone. I'll be looking to get a laptop this year (not right away, before summer) before I move for school. I don't game, and I want something that will last atleast the 3-4 years of my Ultrasound/Radiology program. There's no hardcore rendering or anything like that in this type of program. I'd like something preferably under 13". Checked the GPD P2 Max, but I'm screwed if there's an issue since it's totally in the hands of Chinese Customer Service. I will be using a vertical mouse, so multiple USB ports are important, as well as a way to attach it to a larger monitor when that is rarely needed. I'd love to be able to keep or upgrade the storage (and maybe RAM) on the laptop My current computer that will be sold and replaced is a Ryzen 2400G with 16gb ram. Please let me know if more information is needed

How do you reset a school computer. I got a dell laptop for having my tuition pay off. So yes it’s mine and it’s not a loaner. Anyways, I transfers schools and I am in this computer business class, that requires citrix to be download, but it won’t let me because It says I need to be logged on as an administrator. I need this done ASAP. I don’t have time to fall behind.

Hey, I have a quick survey for a class of mine about technical writing and would appreciate it if anyone could take a few minutes to take it. The survey is targeted to those in the Computer Science field while in industry. Thanks in advance. Link: https://forms.gle/ydZCJ6F4shQYSNn89

I'm 16 and soon going to a high school. I need a new laptop that can do light gaming and some school work. It doesn't need to be big but the bigger the better. I would also like high refresh rate. My thinking was the Lenovo legion 5. The cheapest version. My budget is also around that region. I don't really want to go over 900. Is the Lenovo good and what other laptops fit the recommendations and are at that price point.

Budget (including currency): 600 Euro´s Country: Belgium Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: School, but needs to last for a long time. So my school recommended this laptop HP ProBook 445 G7 - AMD Ryzen 3 4300U with 14inch 1000 nits display. the specs look good for the price, but the display has Huge bezels. I just want to make sure that I get the best laptop for 600 euro´s, that also look decent. Thanks I hope this is the right category

I am looking for a new laptop I'd mainly use for school and occasionally (let's say once every two weeks) for some private stuff (mostly programming). I do have an actual desktop PC though, so things like gaming can come short (30fps in Minecraft, if anything). My requirements are a Ryzen 3/i3, 8GBs of RAM, 256GB SSD and Windows 10. I wouldn't mind a convertible but it does not have to be one, especially since they are obviously more pricy. My budget is around 1000 USD, although I appreciate anything lower, haha. My biggest concerns are fan noise and battery life, although I am at this point willing to compensate for the latter by bringing a separate powerbank. Ideally the laptop should be able to sustain having OneNote, multiple Chrome tabs and IntelliJ open over an entire school day (8 hours) but as I said, I can deal with less. For the fan noise however, I don't want to make any compromises. Ideally I would get a fanless device but the one fitting the best out of the sparse selection there is, is the Surface Pro 7 (i5, 128GB) but it seems so ridiculously overpriced that I would not want to give Microsoft that money. So since I gave up looking for a fanless laptop, I am now looking for one that is still extremely quiet, maybe even silent under the load I described above (OneNote, Chrome, IntelliJ (also includes compiling of course, but I don't know how easy it is to get a laptop's fan not spinning up in that scenario, so I might just have to live with that)), as I do not want to disturb class. By extremely quiet, I mean basically unnoticeable. I have seen laptops described that way online before, but in tests even the best of these seem to create fan noise with levels of 30db while idling, which based on most of the scales I found does not seem to be that quiet (correct me if I'm wrong)? Anyways, I hope this is not too much to ask. Thanks in advance for any tips or help!

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out because I’m in need of a new laptop. I’ve had a Mac Pro for the last 11 years and it recently died on me. I’ve been advised by friends to leave Apple and look elsewhere to get more for my money. The main uses will be for school and work. At school this laptop will be used for programming. For work it needs to be high powered because it will be running multiple tasks at once without frying the computer. Ideally my budget is under 1k. The other option is investing into a pc and just getting a Chromebook for when I’m out and about. Let me know what you guys think.

Hey, next year I should be going to university and I'll need a laptop for that. I intend on studying AI or Software engeneering (not fully decided yet). I know, that next year is far away, but due to the ongoing chip shortage, I'm already looking out for a good deal, and having no time preasure helps a lot. My buget is about max 15 000 CZK (666 USD, 590 EUR) but I'd more like to pay in the 13 000 CZK (580 USD, 510 EUR) neighborhood. I was thinking of getting a touch screen (I don't have one currently), but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Otherwise my only somewhat requirement is full size arrow keys (I know, that sounds stupid, it is, but I just can't get over having two arrow keys in one key slot), altho I'd probably get used to it after a few months. I know, a year (more like 9 months) is a long time, so I don't expect specific laptops. More like tips what to look out for and where it's better to compromise. I'll be thankfull for any help.

Just need your honest opinions or send me one on amazon thats like this

I have decided that when I install windows 11 I'm also going to try linux out, this meaning I want windows only as a backup for games that won't run on linux. this brings me to the question of which linux distro to use as my main pc. is there any specific one that has most features a student would need, I don't mind if it runs differently along as most Microsoft things can be installed. also not sure how one duel boots or has backup operating systems so if anyone knows a good tutorial that explains that id appreciate the link. im not even sure where to look all this kind of stuff up without being hit will tons of linux jargon that I won't understand

I’m looking for a laptop for when I start school next year, but if I get a laptop, I want to make sure that it will still be fast enough to last me all through school so at least 5-6 years. On the schools website that have their minimum requirements but I was hoping to find a laptop that I could upgrade my cpu, gpu, etc later down the road if I need it. I know cpu/gpus in laptops normally aren’t replaceable, but I did find an Alienware 51m laptop that is fully replaceable, it’s just expensive. Or if I get like a 9th gen i9, will that still be fast enough in 5-6 years? The schools minimum requirements are below. Any help is appreciated! Operating System: Windows 10, 64 Bit Processor: Intel 8th Gen i5 or i7 Memory (RAM): 8GB RAM Hard Drive: 250+ GB Graphics Card: Built-in (Intel) Wireless: 802.11 a/c dual band Office Suite: Office 2013 Professional or newer Antivirus Software: Required for campus students. Strongly recommended for online students. Optional Accessories: CD/DVD drive, external hard drive, extra power cord and headphones/earbuds

Good day All! I know, I know, in this market, waiting until the week before school starts to find a laptop is going to mean value is going out the window... Nevertheless, my fiance needs a laptop for nursing school, orientation starts next week and classes start the following week. My price range is ~$1,500 (factor expedited delivery in with that, where applicable) but the budget is somewhat flexible - I strongly believe in getting what you pay for, so I will pay a little more for good value. She has a gaming rig, so it will only be for school and web browsing (but she does most of that on her phone). The minimum specs they provided are pretty meh: Laptop that is less than 3 years old Microsoft Office 2016 or newer Operating System: 32-bit and 64-bit Versions of Windows 10. Alternate versions of Windows 10, such as Windows RT and Windows 10 S, are NOT supported at this time. Only genuine, U.S.-English versions of Windows Operating Systems are supported. ExamSoft does not support Tablet devices other than Surface Pro as detailed below CPU Processor: 2.0 ghz Intel i3 processor or equivalent RAM: 4GB or higher Hard Drive: highest recommended for the operating system or 1GB of available space. For onsite support, and in order to backup the answer files to USB, a working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adaptor) For technical troubleshooting, account passwords, including BitLocker keys, may be required. Internet connection for Download, Registration, Exam Download and Upload. Examplify cannot be run within virtualized environments or environments that require persistent network (local or otherwise) connections during secure exams. This includes, but is not limited to, VMWare, Parallels, Citrix workspace, Virtual Disks, Streamed images, etc. Screen Resolution should be at least 1024x768 or higher. No Chromebook No Netbook or Tablet No i-Pad That being said, with my experience, I find i3s to be pokey at the best of times, especially QOL with daily driver tasks So, in addition to the minimum specs above, I'm looking for recommendations (or links to reviews etc.) that have: Core i5 or better 8G RAM (I figure that is the bare minimum these days, 4G is asking for trouble, anything above 16G would be overkill) A 1080 display or better ~7 hours battery life would be ideal, her school day will be in that range (8:00 - 3:00) The only request she had was a 10-key number pad (hence why I ended up here, most retailers and other search methods don't offer that as a filter) At least 1 type-A port, while not a requirement (I have adapters) would be good to have A backlit keyboard is preferable Other than that, it doesn't need to have bleeding edge performance, but something decent and portable - and ideally not too "gamer-y" I am aware this is sorta a "plz bro" post, but I'm trying to explore all my options here, I have also been scouring vendor sites, floatplane reviews, etc. She's going to take a look at what I've found when she gets home from work today, here are the current contenders (in no particular order): https://www.newegg.com/lenovo-thinkbook-15-g2-itl-20ve006uus/p/1B4-001H-02H01?Item=1B4-001H-02H01 https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-15-2-in-1-laptop/spd/inspiron-15-7506-2-in-1-laptop/n27506ejtth?view=configurations https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/laptops/15-5520/spd/latitude-15-5520-laptop/s001l552015us https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/compare?ocs=smv155w11p1c7500c,s014l352015us,s027l352015us,s001l552015us I figured LTT peeps would be the best to run it by, we're a special breed! (of helpful and knowledgeable that is) Cheers! (and my sincerest appreciation for any input!)

So, my school laptop. I can’t believe I’m doing a review on this. This laptop is fine, but not the best. It has a PENTIUM in it lol and it has UHD 605 iGPU, like bruh. Let’s talk about the pros of this laptop. It is decent for school work and can play Minecraft: Education Edition fine at like 8-12 chunks. It’s storage is the best thing lol. It has a 128GB M.2 SSD from Samsung. It is even NVME! It is actually a pretty fast SSD. The model is the PM991. The display is IPS, so good viewing angles, fine brightness for indoors. And decent speakers. The trackpad is not good, but a better one. Now the cons. It’s RAM is 4GB, like bruh. It’s DDR4-2400 RAM. The display is only 1368 x 768, so lower resolution. The webcam, let’s not talk about that. The processor is slow, iGPU is fine I guess. WiFi is, meh. This thing has Windows 10 Education, which is fine I guess. In conclusion, this laptop is good for school, not for gaming. Rating: 6.5/10. Need better processor and GPU!!!!
