Hi, newcomer here. I own a gaming laptop. Due to LTT's recent video on Sleep states, I switched from S0 to S3 using the registry changed as described by the procedure here: https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-disable-modern-standby/ This fixed my issue that I would take my laptop out and go about my day only to have it be burning hot and fully drained when I take it out of my bag to do work. So far so good. The problem is that after enabling S3 and sleeping (it enters S3 correctly: fans off, CPU off, everything powered off), once it wakes up, the fans spin up slowly to around 4700rpm (high-ish speed) and stay stuck there forever. Only way to get it back to normal is a full restart. And if it enters sleep again, same issue occurs. I have tried to diagnose the fans with built in MyAsus app (version 3.1.11.0, Asus control interface version 3.1.8.0), and while diagnosing, the fans are controlled (go to 0, medium, then high for testing purposes), but still crawl back to 4700prm and stay there forever, no matter workload. Bios, GeForce, Windows, MyAsus, wifi and bluetooth drivers are all up to date (according to Windows and MyAsus app respectively) as of 5/12/2022 (DDMMYYYY) These are my specs: Asus TUF Gaming FX706HM.313 Windows 10 Home - Version 22H2 - OS Build 19045.2251 Bios Version: American Megatrends International, LCC. FX706HM.313 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz Nvidia RTX 3060 laptop GeForce driver 527.37 Intel(R) Wi-fi 6E AX210NGW 32GB RAM Crucial RAM 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz CL22 (CT16G4SFRA32A)

Greetings fellow members/guests, I am in a heated dilemma between two really good online cloud services, Google Cloud (Not Google Drive) and Amazon S3 also known as AWS. I have over 3TB worth of data that I need to backup in a safe place. The data is currently sitting on 2 separate external HDDs. 1 is a 1TB WD Passport Drive and the other is on a 2TB WD Passport Drive. I would like to get something more robust and reliable then just getting another terabyte (TB) drive. If I had the funds, I would just setup my own Network Attached Storage (NAS) box. I know that Western Digital (WD) makes a 4 bay NAS box, however, I don't like proprietary software. I like to be able to access my data many ways, via SFTP, Online, Mobile App, Cloudberry, you name it! I also want redundancy (if one drive fails, there is another one just like it ready to restore data back to the replaced drive). The data that I have contains family photos, movies, TV Shows, GoPro footage, Operating System images, Software like Adobe Creative Suite and so forth. If anyone knows anything about what I'm talking about, an honest opinion would be greatly appreciated. I've done lots of research, but can't be pushed in one direction or the other.

Hi guys. I have a Samsung S3 mini (GT-I8200N). It repeats in a cycle first vibrating and then showing Samsung logo and again and again. Is this because of the phone or the battery. I would like to buy a genuine battery and try it but i'm not sure it could be the phone too. Pls help me people. Before that it it shut down immediately while the battery percentage was 80 or below.

Hi mates. I peeled my Samsung's (S3) battery... something like antenna came out and my battery is not efficient as before. It suddenly shuts down without any Samsung logo.

So my galaxy s3 suddenly stopped working and when I tried to boot it up it goes to the Samsung splash screen and then to the galaxy s3 splash screen. After reaching that screen it crashes. When I attempted to boot into recovery it shows SE linux enforcing in the corner in blue and then crashes. When booting into download mode it lasts a bit longer but still eventually crashes. After doing a bit of research I noticed that people were having that problem with faulty power switches. I disassembled my phone and uninstalled the power switch sadly the phone still was stuck i n its boot cycle implying that it is a deeper issue then that. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

GPUs I found in the trash: *ATI Radeon 9600XT *Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 *S3 Virge/GX Please note that Linux uses OpenGL which means DirectX version is not a issue! (find a usable driver could be...)

So i have my S3 for near on 2 years and for day to day use its starting to get slow, so i want to upgrade, the question is what to upgrade too! Here are some options i've picked out and my budget is £300 tops, look at UK websites and stores only please e.g. if its only a US phone then don't bother showing me it So my choices are these: Sony Xperia Z3: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XSony+Xperia+Z3.TRS0&_nkw=Sony+Xperia+Z3&_sacat=0 Sony Xperia Z2: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&LH_ItemCondition=1000&_sop=2&_nkw=Sony%20Xperia%20Z2&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 Sony Xperia Z2a: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=Sony+Xperia+Z3v&_udlo=100&_mPrRngCbx=1&_osacat=0&ssPageName=GSTL&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC0.A0.H0.XSony+Xperia+Z2.TRS0&_nkw=Sony+Xperia+Z2a&_sacat=0 HTC One M8: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sop=2&LH_BIN=1&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=htc%20one%20m8&LH_PrefLoc=1&_dcat=9355&rt=nc&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=150&_udhi Samsung Galaxy S5: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=samsung+galaxy+s4&LH_PrefLoc=1&_udlo=150&_sop=2&LH_BIN=1&_mPrRngCbx=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xsamsung+galaxy+s5.TRS0&_nkw=samsung+galaxy+s5&_sacat=0 Or post your idea's if you have found better. I'm trying to fix one of my friends phones. Its a S3 and I think its in a boot loop. I don't have to much android experience, but from what I know I think its a boot loop. It comes on and says Samsung, and if I try to do power+volume+home it says recovery booting in the top corner. Instead of starting that though, it just stops, so I cant get into recovery mode. I'm trying to get ADB logcat running on my PC, but I'm new to android (I'm a Windows phone Developer). I'm not sure if its something simple like the power button is being held down like she thought it was originally, or if its something like the rom is corrupt. I know I should clear the cache in recovery mode but I cant get to it. Any ideas?

I thought this would be an interesting topic, I'm feeling nostalgic already. My first card wan an MSI FX5500 with a whopping 256Mb, I remember cranking Myst V to full detail @ 1024x768.

Hi, so I've been trying to but have failed miserably at trying to flash my Verizon Galaxy S3 with CyanogenMod, so I could really use some help from a kind and experienced custom rom flasher. Here's the official instructions: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_d2vzw Here's the site of the rom: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2vzw I fail at flashing an alternate bootloader. My phone is rooted, and running android 4.4.2. Please let me know if you can help or need more info! Thanks in advance!

Hi, a while back I used cyanogenmod tool to get my os swapped, now I got cyanogenmod11 on my Samsung S3 however, I haven't seen even one update for my phone When I check the S3 page for my phone (19300) I see that the only CGM 11 images are snapshots, and that they are updated daily. Why am I not getting any of these images? The reason for asking is that my camera is really buggy and crashes.

So, it's been bothering me for a while but my now 2-year-and-2-month old Samsung Galaxy S3 always just runs incredibly slowly. Not only that, but I tend to burn through the battery easily within 6 hours. For the past year and a half, or so, I've had to resort to carrying around two spare batteries with me as it has a tendancy to run out of charge in the middle of the day, let alone if I'm out at a music festival or something. I'm not a particulaly heavy user, as in I rarely play video games on my phone, nor do I really watch videos or ever use bluetooth. Occassionally I do use GPS or WiFi, but I try to keep them turned off when I'm not using them. I tend to use my phone for music when I'm in the car, or texting / whatsapp / occasional snapchatting, or checking Pulse News or my internet banking. I don't have a particularly huge amount of apps installed, I don't think. And I regularly hold the Home button, & press the close-all-apps button to make sure that they're not running in the background. Yet, my phone is so laggy. It's like there's a constant 3 or 5, or even sometimes 10, second delay for whatever action you've initiated to actually occur. You'll press Messages, and it'll take about 4 seconds for my text messages to show up. You'll press Home, and it takes about 3 seconds for it to close. Facebook just took about 8 seconds to load. It doesn't sound alot, but it can be quite infuriating when you're trying to get things done in a hurry. It's even worse when apps are running in the background! So, I got to check my running processes and there's just loads of things running that both don't appear to be running when I hold the Home button but also shouldn't be running because I haven't used them in forever. It appears my phone has approximately 850MB of RAM, yet my phone tends to ALWAYS run at around 725MB used (currently it's at 751MB, as can be seen in the screenshot attached). But when I do go through the list of things running, the right hand side it tells you how much RAM is supposedly being used. Yet if I total up all of the RAM being used by all of the apps that are apparently running, it only comes to about 300MB. So where the heck is this other 450MB of RAM being used?! THIS is what is slowing down my phone, I think. Nor only that, but there are things in this list that are running that shouldn't be running, & I don't understand why they are. Facebook, sure I can understand, in case you get a notification or something. But TuneIn Radio... I'm not listening to the radio at the moment, nor have I used the app in weeks (and my phone has been restarted numerous times since then), why is it running? S Voice, too? Video Hub? Google Play Music, I've never even used it. And then there's loads of things I haven't got a clue what they are, like Exchange Services, ELM Agent, SmartcardService, etc. Now I understand it's like a computer, where there are a number of background processes that have to run to make the OS work, but why are all these other apps running that I'm not using?! ------------------------- Furthermore, I've started trying to use Google Now because I would like to get a Moto 360 (but I'll ask questions about that in a seperate thread). So, it seemed to work fine a few weeks ago. It gave me stocks, news updates, ETA to work or home, started remembering where I was parking. But now a few days ago I go back to it, after not using it for a little while, & it's all reset; Asking me to set it up again. So I did, & it mostly works but I can only ever seem to get the first "page" of cards up. When I click "More" at the bottom I just get an endless spinning circle & then the message "No Internet Connection - Content was last updated X minutes ago" appears as the top card, when infact I know I do have an internet connection. Exiting the app, closing it down, & then re-opening does not fix the issue either. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. Furthermore, it always asks me to "Improve my location: For more accurate location, let google search for Wi-Fi connections, even when Wi-Fi is off." I don't understand how this works, and what it's trying to do? If I turn it on, is that not going to be effectively the same as leaving my WiFi turned on at all times? Well, except without the benefits of being connected via WiFi. It's just going to drain my battery more, as leaving WiFi on usually does. ------------------------- So tldr: - Why is my RAM mysteriously using 450MB that I can't vouch for? Where is it going? How I stop it? - Why is Google Now not letting my manually update the cards?

I am thinking about upgrading my old worn out S3 at the end of the year, and I was wondering if anyone that had an LG G3 would recommend it. I am really considering this phone even considering the price point that it comes in. Thanks! Hugh

Hi, so I've used the cyanogenmod tool to get CM11 on my Samsung Galaxy S3, and as far as I cand see it's a snapshot release from some time ago. My camera has been a bit buggy, and so I thought I'd update my snapshot with the latest one. What I'm wondering about though is, what should I copy backup? I'm using clockworkmod to do a full backup so I can restore everything back the way it was if something goes wrong. What should I backup with other tools, and with what apps?

Hi, lately snapchat has started to lag really bad, and it's not just while loading the camera, from i press a snap until it shows, it takes maybe 5-10s. anyone know about this? Anyone know a fix for this? I'm on a Samung Galaxy S3 with Cyanogenmod 11, and this lag issue started before I loaded up Cyanogenmod.

Hi everyone So I've had my S3 for 2 years now, and I'm very happy with it, and not so long ago I put Cyanogenmod on it too, which increased my battery life and stability ^^ However I came to wonder about something. When should you get a new battery? I don't know how fast/slow batteries for smartphones deteriorate, would there be any benefit at all to replace my battery?

Hey guys! I am planning to get a new phone in a few weeks and I am stuck between the Moto G and the Galaxy S3. The specs are very similar of these both with the exception of camera and memory. Since, both are getting 4.4 update, I want someone who has used both of them to tell me which one is better. I currently own a Lumia 610, but I am familiar with using android as I have a Nexus 7 2012. Also, which phone can play graphic-intensive games better? I usually play a few games like Real Racing 3 etc. build quality also matters. Storage also might not be a problem for me as I store most of my music on my iPod and I plan to stream videos from my network connected drive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you guys had any trouble with your battery? I haven't tell me your experiences.

Hello Currently I have been using the Apple iPhone 5 as my first smartphone but would like to give Android a try. One of my friends just got the new iPhone 5c to replace their old Galaxy s3. The s3 has no damage what so ever but the battery did stop working therefore I would have to buy a new battery. They said I could buy it from them for $50 and I would have to buy the battery myself too. So my question is, should I go for it to try android? Or should I save my money and get the s5 or HTC One M8. Like I said I only want to android and if it turns out I like it then I would stick with the s3 as my daily driver. If not I would just reactivate my iPhone 5. Like I said there is absolutely zero damage on the phone and it is like new but without a battery. Should I go for it? Does the OS lag at all?
