Hello. Oh boy this is complicated. I have a very curious issue concerning my refresh rate on my monitor (Gigabyte G24F). I have had this problem for more than 3 months. First of all, there was a time where I could run 165 Hz in any game without a problem. However recently, in some games, I can't get it to max out. It fluctuates between 90 and 100 Hz (I can see these numbers when I open the user interface of my monitor). I mostly play Valorant and in that game, I have this issues whenever I played on 1080 p with 16:9 as the aspect ratio. If I set the aspect ratio to 4:3, I get crisp 165 Hz. A couple of days ago, this temporary fix did not seem to work anymore. After some experimenting, it only worked if I capped my FPS to exactly 165. Kind of. With frames capped to 165, I do get 165 Hz, yet sometimes, for example the moment I get shot in game, I get stutters and my refresh rate drops for like a second or two, then goes back up again to 165 Hz. This performance drop only occurs on 1080p 16:9, on 4:3 with a lower resolution and frames capped at 165 I don't seem to get these drops. But, there has been a time where I could play with uncapped FPS without any issues (if I uncap, I get around 600 FPS in practice range, in a match around 350) and it would be great if I could get it back to that state. Also in CS2, I don't seem to get it to max refresh rate no matter which resolution or aspect ratio I choose. However, my monitor displays 165 Hz in the user interface (but I can tell it's not, just way too stuttery). I would love for this issue to simply be gone so I can play on 165 Hz on 1080p 16:9 again, no matter if my FPS is capped to 165. I basically have no clue at all what the problem might be. I have tried everything I know, but nothing seemed to do the trick. And it's not like I can't get my monitor to 165 Hz, it just does not get there when I want it to. I have over the course of multiple weeks talked to Valorant Support where they checked every single game setting within Valorant and we did a clean reinstall, so it should not be the Valorant ingame settings causing the drops in performance. And as I said it happens sometimes in other games, too. Not so much as in Valorant though. I have updated all my drivers (GPU and monitor drivers, windows is up to date and in the windows settings it is without a doubt set to 165 Hz. I have experimented with different Displayport cables, but that did not change anything. I am running on Windows 11 (64-Bit). I have also factory reset my monitor, I deleted the AMD Adrenalin Software (I saw some people having performance issues caused by it). I disabled my firewall to see if that interferes with that in any way. I tried disabling AMD Freesync Premium, with that my monitor showed 165 Hz in the interface, but it was not smooth at all, it more looked like 60Hz. So I re enabled it. The last thing I tried was hooking up my monitor with my laptop, to see wether it is my pc. On my laptop I only have HMDI, so I only got 120 Hz max. However, on my laptop, I got consistent 120 Hz. I could not confirm that with my eyes since my laptop could only get up to like 40 frames per second, but this would maybe indicate, that this whole thing only seems to occur on my pc. I have a feeling it's some weird setting, but I am honestly helpless. Here is my pc build: -SSD: 1000GB Crucial P2 M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 (CT1000P2SSD8) -power: 750 Watt be quiet! Pure Power 11 FM Modular 80+ Gold -CPU-cooler be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 Tower Kühler -Motherboard: MSI B550M Bazooka AMD B550 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX Retail -GPU: MSI Radeon RX 6600 XT Mech 2X 8G, 8GB GDDR6, HDMI, 3x DP (V502-035R) -CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X - 3.7 GHz - 6 cores - 12 Threads -RAM: Crucial Ballistix BL2K8G36C16U4B 3600 MHz, DDR4, DRAM, Desktop Gaming Speicher Kit, 16GB (8GB x2), CL16, Schwarz -monitor: Gigabyte G24f 165 hz This would be unbelievable if some heckin tech god could find the problem and fix this for me as I am absolutely lost from this point on. There is nothing more I can do. Thanks in advance and I am looking forward to hearing from your ideas. I will be happy to provide you guys with any further details you might need. Greetings, David

I recently changed the display on my laptop after the old one broke. I put in this exact panel instead of the 1080p 144Hz panel I had before. However, before and after updating GPU drivers (both intel and Nvidia) I don't have the option to choose another resolution. The Nvidia control panel is also missing every single option apart from the 3D settings. I've also checked the Intel Graphics control panel and it too is devoid of any meaningful options. My laptop has an RTX2070 MaxQ and Intel UHD 630. I've already tried removing and reinstalling all GPU drivers (Intel and Nvidia). I don't really game much on this laptop but I wanted a smoother experience than 60Hz as I need it mainly for work. Would this be a bandwidth problem ? Do I need to change the eDP cable as well or is it that my GPU just can't handle 2K at 165Hz (i have managed run an ext. monitor with the same laptop hitting 2K @ 120FPS in less demanding titles, it dips to 50FPS in newer titles).

Hey there, I currently have a 75hz monitor and I was thinking about buying a 165hz monitor to get a dual monitor setup. I am not sure if this will cause any issues with refresh rates. Can I use the 165hz monitor as a main display and use the 75hz as a second monitor simultaneously and with their respective refresh rates?

Hi there, so I am attempting to run a temporary gaming setup with a Razer Blade laptop I am borrowing from a friend and a BenQ XL2720 monitor. The video output from the laptop is an HDMI port and when using this port to plug a high speed HDMI into the monitor in Nvidia Control Panel under Ultra HD, HD, SD 1080p, 1920 x 1080 (native) is available at 60Hz however under PC 1920 x 1080 is not an option, only lower resolutions are available, however it recognises their ability to at least run at 120Hz. I would like some assistance in determining the cause of the issue here, my initial thoughts is that it could be that the XL2720 can only run 1920x1080 at 144Hz via display port, however this would not be a solution as the only output on the laptop is HDMI and all adapters I have been able to find run from display port to HDMI and are not bi-directional What I have tried so far: Tried a higher speed HDMI cable listed as being able to run 1920x1080 at 144Hz Updated Nvidia Graphics Drivers Updated BenQ monitor drivers Tried using an HDMI to DVI convertor I would appreciate any advice anyone may have, apologies if the information could have been presented more concisely

So my monitor is coming on Saturday (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089T73ZB9/ref=crt_ewc_title_srh_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) and I plan to use it for my PS5 since it supports 120hz. The issue is my capture card, like most, does not support 120hz passthrough. I've looked around amazon for hdmi splitters but i dont know if that would work? Would it? I want to be able to play games at 120hz but also record my gameplay through the capture card. Can anyone help?

I have a 144 Hz screen on my laptop (asus tuf a15) and it always says 144 hz on any refresh rate testing website i go to, ex. UFO refresh rate test. A couple of days ago, my laptop randomly crashed and then everything was back to normal as I restarted my laptop. Couple days later, I went to the refresh rate testing websites, because ocd. This time, it showed 141 Hz, fixed. I have a ryzen 7 4800H and a 1650 ti, and the cpu is used for display(it has integrated graphics). So, I redownloaded AMD drivers, and everything was back to normal. I just want to know what could have happened that caused my refresh rate to drop by 3 Hz(doesn't really affect me, but wanna know the technicality behind it). Was it somehow linked to the random crashing? I tried restarting my laptop as well, but only redownloading the drivers was able to fix it. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! Basically, I'm looking for a laptop for college but the one I want only has a 60hz display and because of that I want to ask this question. If I have a laptop that is 60Hz and I put it on a 144Hz monitor with I get 144Hz on the monitor or will it automatically get set to 60Hz without a way to change it? This is the laptop I want: https://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/dell-laptops/new-xps-15-laptop/spd/xps-15-9510-laptop/xn9510evbes Sorry if this is a dumb question I just legit don't know.

Hello everyone, I've been having this issue for a while now. I have an ASUS Strix II Scar GL504GS (could've just used the GL504GS but apparently there are two kinds), and the screen is supposed to be 144hz. In NVIDIA control panel, and in Windows settings, it says I am on 144hz. It even works sometimes, but then out of nowhere it feels like 60hz. Don't know what causes it, but it only happens on the built-in display. I also have a BenQ EX2780q that works perfectly. Another thing to mention, is that when I try to change my laptop display to 60hz, it will go black and won't switch. The timer to verify settings goes down and it just goes back to saying 144hz but is actually 60hz. One time I hit enter to apply the settings and my display was permanently black until I hooked up my external display and set it back to 144hz. I've reset my laptop in the past and it didn't fix anything. Any help is much appreciated.

Ok so to lead off, The games I am trying to play do work on my desktop so will run on Win10 (some with a little tinkering) but I have a Dell G7 laptop with both an iGPU and RTX 2070. I want to have some older games installed that I know run well on the iGPU due to anything that tries to use the 2070 on battery makes the it's i7 power throttle to the point a Pentium 3 could out run it with a giggle and light jog... The major problem I am running into is a lot of old games like Mercenaries 2 and KOTOR 1 etc have major issues on any monitor with a refresh rate higher the 60hz. Which can range from texture and game play bugs, Up too just outright failing to launch. And thanks to Dell's shortsighted hardware engineering the monitor's rate can't be changed and is effectively locked at 144hz. So I am looking for ideas and other workarounds that might help with games that have said problem and no per-game way to fix it (I.E. no fan patch or mod files for a given game)

Hey, I am going crazy here. I need help with getting 4K 60Hz on my TV (Samsung Q70R 2018). My macbook is 2020 intel version with 4 thunderbolt ports so it does support 4K60 and the dongle I am using also. The dongle is the new apple dongle A2119. I tried to use other dongles but those always make my wifi loose signal. However my tv is still running in 4K30Hz. I tried to plug the dongle to other laptop running windows and it had no issue with that. So there is no issue with the dongle or TV or HDMI cable. Can someone tell me how to fix it?

Hey guys so I have a dual monitor set up. One of the two an Optix Mag24c all of a sudden started flickering with these weird back and grey lines. The other one is totally fine. I tried everything using an HDMI instead of the DP I'm using. Checking for driver updates restarting. This all started on its own it didn't fall I changed nothing it just went crazy on its own. Does this mean the panel is dead or worse a GPU problem. I really don't have the money to replace it so if someone can help me that would be amazing.

I bought a monitor 2 years ago (Benq ZOWIE XL2430 - linked below) which is capable of 144hz @ 1080p. However, since upgrading from Xbox One S to an Xbox Series X, I've discovered the HDMI 1.4 ports on my monitor do not support 120hz @ 1080p (best I can get is 60hz @ 1080p) - only the DisplayPort (DP) and DVI ports on my monitor support 144hz. My question to anyone reading this post: does a cable exist that can connect to an HDMI 2.1 port on the Xbox Series X to a DP/DVI on my monitor (so HDMI 2.1 --> DP or DVI) that allows 144hz. I do not want an adapter as, to the best of my limited knowledge, this will introduce input delays. Will a cable that can do 144hz ever be produced or is this just simply not possible? Does anyone know if this sort of product will be available anytime soon? The monitor was expensive and it now feels like a waste that I can't get the most out of it. Thanks for any help! Monitor: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01H07FVBI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 *UPDATE/SOLUTION* Thanks to @Popa2caps for researching and finding a product that could work. Here is a link to the product: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/club-3d-cac-2330-hdmi-to-displayport-adapter NB: This adapter is also sold on Amazon but Scan was cheaper. £26 inc delivery. For anyone in a similar situation, here’s a few things that I learnt: 1. A passive cable will not be able to adapt a HDMI 2.0 signal from an Xbox Series X/PS5 to a monitor (using DP) to produce 120/144hz. Only an active (powered ie. by USB) adapter can achieve this. 2. Benq were not willing to listen to the complaint I had. Do your research before you purchase a 120/144hz monitor if it’s for use with a console. You are looking for monitor that has HDMI 2.0* ports, although, at the time I’m posting this, there are very few and they are expensive. Some monitors will be advertised as 144hz but will not support this through HDMI, usually DisplayPort or DVI. Don’t make the same mistake I did. 3. Do not buy a DisplayPort to HDMI cable that can transmit 144hz at 1080p. They are not backwards compatible due to how DisplayPort works (something to do with a ‘clock’). They won’t work in reverse. You need a HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. 4. Upgrading and replacing HDMI 1.4 ports on a monitor with HDMI 2.0 ports will not solve this issue. I read something along the lines of ‘even if you upgrade the ports, the chipset associated with the old HDMI 1.4 ports will still only allow 60hz’. 5. Whether or not these adapters introduce delay/latency/lag may vary product to product, however, the adapter I have linked above seems to be ‘transparent’, or as if it wasn’t there in the first place. Call of Duty ran at 120hz and felt smooth and responsive. *in theory, HDMI 1.4 ports can support 144hz at 1080p, however, most manufacturers do not support this functionality (annoyingly).

Hi There, I recently bought this monitor that supports up to 1440p @ 144hz, I'm able to get 1080p @ 120hz or 1440p @ 100hz, but nothing above that, no signal and then it reverts itself (over desktop, I know this card won't handle such configurations in game). This system doesn't have a DP output, so I'm relying on HDMI, I've done some research and if I'm able to get above 100hz, pretty sure the cable is already 2.0 or above, as 1.4 will just not go up to 100hz... If so, the cable should not be the issue, right? As 2.0 should support 144hz. Note, I'm connecting to the hdmi 2.0 port of my monitor and this laptop's port is also 2.0, nvidia drivers up to date at this moment. Then what? 1. Is this card just not able to handle 1440p @ 144hz even just at desktop level? 2. Could an HDMI to DP active adapter fix the issue/be supported? Any advantages of using one instead of plain HMDI anyway? 3. I heard the TB3 port on this computer is wired to the iGPU, would make sense to try with a TB3 to DP cable at all on that case? 4. Any config I could play with? Monitor/nvidia control panel/windows (have tried setting it up from both nvidia panel and windows already, no luck). Thank you in advance!

I've recently been trying to overclock the screen on my Predator Helios 300 past its 60hz limit with CRU. The most I can eke out is 70hz before these dark vertical lines appear on screen, and at 80hz, they are extremely distinguishable from the normal colors. Is this normal? Or is this the limit of what I can push my screen to.?

I was looking at a few entry level 75Hz FHD IPS monitors from LG and Benq. The LG monitors (example: 24MK600M) would mention like "2D refresh rate: 75Hz". Benq ones (example: EW2480) had more details like: "3D refresh rate: 75Hz" Please see the photo link below you'll understand better: https://imgur.com/NupDoqY Does 2D 75Hz refresh rate mean I will get 75Hz refresh rate in normal tasks like browsing and classic 2D games like Super Mario and GTA 2 2D? Whereas Benq 3D 75Hz will also give 75Hz refresh rate even in modern games like GTA 5? Kindly clarify if I've misunderstood something. I don't understand it very well. I mean they are NOT 3D monitors. So what does "3D" signify here?

I recently saw a Digital Foundry video talking about how 40 fps game modes in PS5 games are a game changer because of how many people are using 120Hz screens. They talked about how at 40 fps each frame is rendered at exactly 3 refreshes (in a 120 Hz panel) which makes it look even better than 50 fps in the same display. I was wondering what refresh rate should I look for my 240 Hz panel to achieve the same result in case I am not even close to pull 240Hz and don't have a VRR solution. My guess is that 120 fps is the way to go since it will need exactly two refreshes to show the frame but I need confirmation. Also in case I cannot reach 120 fps in a game and instead I only get 100 fps, would changing my refresh rate to 200 Hz make the game feel better?

Hi guys, I recently bought a 240hz monitor and been trying to get my laptop to run at 240hz to use its full potential, but there is no 240hz option to select, and the highest I could see in Command Center is 120HZ. Could you please suggest on how to solve the issue - if there is any. Laptop Name: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IHU6 Intel Core i5 11300H, Intel Iris XE iGPU, Nvidia RTX 3050 discreet GPU. I have attached screenshot of my monitor details, in command center it clearly shows that the display itself supports 240HZ, but not available to select. I'm using HDMI 2.0 cable from a HDMI 2.0 port on laptop to connect which came with the monitor, and based on the research I did in the internet, the 2.0 HDMI should support 240HZ. To be precise, what I'm trying to figure out is: 1) Is Intel Iris XE iGPU bottlenecking the refresh rate to 120hz? 2) Is it HDMI 2.0 that's unable to deliver refresh rate over 120? 3)Would using HDMI 2.0 (laptop) to Display Port (Monitor) remove the refresh rate cap? The first pic shows info about the monitor and the resolutions and refresh rate it can support, the second picture it only shows 120hz max.

PC specs: RTX 3060, R5 3600, 24gb RAM, 512GB SSD. Hello, i have a 200 Hz monitor from Z-edge. It is a 2560x1080 ultra wide. I have a long cable so I can only get 144fps max. That's not the issue. My issue is that I accidentally set it to 200Hz and it somehow accepted and stayed on 200hz so I restarted my PC. I normally have quite a few default options, 60,120,144,200. But after the restart, i only have 60,75,100. And 100 causes a weird adobe after effects glitch filter and everything shakes. Even at 800x600res, the 100Hz still causes a weird glitch effect. So I don't think it's a cable data transfer issue. Does anyone have an idea how to fix? Stuff I've tried: Restart, reinstall Nvidia drivers, reinstall Nvidia drivers with clean installation, remove drivers, cycle power on monitor, turn off freesync.

Pc Issues Parts: Ryzen 7 3800XT 8 core running at 4.34 GHz 32 gb ram at 3200mhz One m.2 ssd Two hard drives Nvidia Geforce rtx 2070 750 watt gold plus 3 144 Hz monitors, an Lg, Lenovo, and a sceptre all at 1ms as well. Issues started before I had these parts. I changed the PSU, GPU, drives, ram, CPU, and the displays and case. I even added more case fans and got an aftermarket cpu cooler in case it was a temperature issue but using hwinfo/task manager/msi afterburner they are all fine. Problems began after a few trips of a circuit breaker due to an overload running pc heater and hair dryer/lights in another room. I installed a new breaker to try and see if the issue was due to the power drain by other devices because my pc was pulling at most 300 watts. Even with the new breaker I am experiencing the same issues. Measuring the amperage on the new breaker while my pc was running Heaven benchmark and getting decent frames was 2 amps and the voltage was 124 volts. 124V*2A=248 watts. The double breaker that is connected to my heater and a/c unit when it is running is only pulling 2 amps as well. I will replace the breaker where the multiple trips had occurred hoping it will resolve the power issues. If that does not resolve my issues I may need to check the main breaker or call an electrician to diagnose. Current issues: Display/refresh rate issues, the game looks like motion blur is on max and is delayed even with max performance settings and motion blur disabled in the game. Attached is a video of this occurring during overwatch. Mouse and keyboard inputs feel very delayed while gaming The sensitivity of the mouse changes every time I tab out and into the game. I believed this was due to Logitech G Hub having different settings for in the game and regular pc work but after an uninstall it still occurs. This happens across all games and the framerate seems to be just fine hovering around 180 on overwatch at 1080p 144Hz. Gpu and Cpu usage is low at least less than 30 percent each. Memory hovers around 14.5 percent when in game. I have updated video drivers, all peripheral drivers, even tried booting everything from scratch and losing all my info to see what the issue was. Any help is appreciated, I have been dealing with this for over two years and through many different parts. I even bought a brand new pc https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-xtreme-desktop-intel-core-i7-11700f-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-1tb-hdd-500gb-ssd-black/6481354.p?skuId=6481354 And when I attempted to launch a game it felt amazing but two minutes into any game the pc would have a blue screen and shut off. Hello everyone! I ordered a second hand Acer Predator XB252Q monitor which is supposedly one of the best 240hz gsync monitors out there. I got it for a pretty nice price too... Here it costs around 1000 BGN and the offer was 550 BGN and it had leftover warranty. So the delivery guy comes and i test it before I pay for it and all i see from ufotest is ~167hz I tried -Changing the Hz from Windows -Changing the Hz from Nvidia CP -Making the monitor primary -Disabling/enabling gsync -Removing any vsync technologies from the nvidia cp -Setting the settings from the ncp to highest performance and highest refreshrate possible -Unplugging my other monitor so it is only the 240hz that is active -Fullscreening the ufotest webpage -Plugging the monitor in all available DP ports -I tried changing the monitor options from the monitor's menu -I tried reseating the dp cable in the monitor in case the fit was not good Literally none worked and i paid 30 BGN to return it to the sender (thats a lot for getting nothing, its like about a week's groceries here) Was i right to return it or did i obviously miss something obvious? I tried different refreshrates such as 200hz and it showed something like 140+hz in ufotest. I used the cable that came from the box, so that should not be an issue and my gpu is 1080ti. Nothing else was running on the machine except for a couple of chrome tabs and a Minecraft server.... Any idea why that happened?

Hello, first time posting here, so sorry for any mistakes in tags or section. I am thinking about buying a PS5 when it comes out, but I would like to buy a new monitor for it. I am currently using an old VGA-only 21" 1080p monitor that I got for free. It is more than 8 years old, yes, that is right. So, PS5 will support (hopefully on all games) 60fps and 4k. Few years down the line, I would also like to upgrade my PC, from my current GTX 970, to something better, maybe the 3k series by NVIDIA. I have a limited budget of around £250/280; and I am undecided between a 1440p monitor at 60hz, or a 1080p monitor at more than 60hz (probably 75hz as they are cheaper and come usually with an IPS panel). What should I do? I saw some monitors that have both for £270, but apparently they have really bad back light issue on dark colours (Acer Nitro VG270). I never even saw a higher resolution than 1080p so far, and never used something with a higher refresh rate than 60hz. Also, I have always been gaming with V-Sync on, as my monitor would show some tearing; so I don't know which one I would prefer. I know Linus and company prefer higher refresh rate, but buying a PS5 and possibly a new GPU and using it on a 1080p monitors seems a waste. I also, I don't play FPS, so I am not sure if I would benefit from a higher refresh rate. I mainly play single-player story driven games. Sssooooo....what should I go for? What's your experience? Can I have a free GPU (joking xD) I hope I gave enough info. Thanks
