I have looked around what laptop to buy, but there are too many options. So i was wondering if you could help me. My use cases are: running some docker containers (ex databases, and web applications locally), compiling rust and c++, modeling in FreeCad, content consumption, writing code. My preferences: linux would be appreciated, the price shouldn't be more then 1200usd, don't mind it if its used, Max 16inche screen(but 14 is preferred) Good enough so i can last about 5 years a fairly good keyboard I'm willing to go up in price if there is a good reason. Thanks in advance

Looking for a gaming laptop to take on the road with me for around $2200 usd and need some help! I want something current gen (doesn’t matter intel, AMD or nvidia) Would prefer a 17” display (Resolution is more important than refresh rate) Battery life and weight don’t matter to me as it will always be plugged in and not transported much. There’s just so many options out there and I haven’t bought a laptop in 10+ years. Bonus points if anyone knows of a killer Black Friday deal as that’s around the time I’m looking to purchase

So i have an incredably niche problem of having two working CRT TVs and for one i want a hdmi to analogue(RCA or SCART) converter on which I can adjust the picture size, beacuse the tv has a slight problem of the very top of the signal appearing on the actual screen upsidedown. Some fluff: I would hate to throw out a working crt tv, retro games, light gun games and pre 2000 something anime would be awesome on it. Sorry for bad english.

I'm looking for a gaming laptop for a friend and i found 2 good options(links for them below, ASUS with Ryzen and MSI with intel), here are some points of comparison that i know i should look into, but not sure how to, or i don't understand the practical differences between the 2 first, general information: 1- one of the main games he wants to play is Forza Horizon 5, and maybe cod warzone. 2- MSI option is about 86 dollars cheaper. 3- i would say he is a "normie" , as in he would not complain/tell the difference between 90/160/240 FPS. as long as it is consistent and not dropping frames i think he would be fine 4- if option X is better in aspects that could be upgraded then it's a non issue here are some comparison points that i would like answered 1- one of them has a 3070 and an intel i7-12700H. the other is a 3070ti with a Ryzen 7-6800HS. are Ryzen stuff as good/pretty close to intel stuff or not? and even if not close to intel, is it worth getting a 3070ti with Ryzen instead of 3070 with intel? 2- i know i should look into the GPU voltage but idk what is good or bad, or how to compare the current 2 options 3- the Ryzen option has 1TB PCIe SSD while intel has a 512GB NVMe SSD. i know that NVMe is faster, but how faster is it in actual games? also idk how to check if i can put an NVMe in the Ryzen option 4- performance aside, is there a difference in actual usage between intel and Ryzen CPUs, cuz i know i will be tech support in case anything happens and iv never used Ryzen is there anything i missed that should be taken in account? finally , are these 2 options good in the first place? if they are, which would you take? here are the laptops (nvm availability) ASUS, with ryzen and 3070ti https://www.amazon.sa/-/en/ASUS-FA707RW-7-6800HS-GeForce-Windows/dp/B0BL9FG4RY/ref=d_pd_sbs_sccl_3_5/262-3948991-6241338?pd_rd_w=bDFIX&content-id=amzn1.sym.caa5c1b6-94b2-4099-9566-45946f1f30c3&pf_rd_p=caa5c1b6-94b2-4099-9566-45946f1f30c3&pf_rd_r=3VWK4MHJJS93199S5HHN&pd_rd_wg=UD89u&pd_rd_r=957b01c0-1a78-4c34-b284-7fd7b3d75393&pd_rd_i=B0BL9FG4RY&th=1 edit: the amazon listing for the laptop has changed into a different laptop one, so if you see a 3060 in it then that is not what i was originally looking at. this is what i was looking at: https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-gaming/tuf-gaming/asus-tuf-gaming-a17-2022/techspec/ MSI, with intel and 3070 https://www.amazon.sa/-/en/MSI-Pulse-GL66-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B09RB9B7SD/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 .

Hi there, I'm currently a college student looking for a 2 in 1 laptop that is somewhat powerful. I would like it to run solidworks and premiere on it. I have absolutely no idea where to start searching because I simultaneously want the power to run applications, but the stylus support to take notes and handwrite. Few questions: Would I be better off keeping my current laptop until it breaks down (6-year-old hp pavilion touch with intel i7 6700hq processor, I added 16gb ram and an SSD), and buy an iPad in the meantime? How can I tell if a laptop's screen can support handwriting, can't seem to find it in specs or product description? I'm currently eyeing the hp pavilion x360 2 in 1. Would the 11th generation i5 or i7 processor be a better choice? I've had bad experiences with laptops heating up too much and killing the battery. I would really appreciate some advice; I haven't been in the market for computers in a long time. Thank you

Hi everybody! I am searching for a new monitor. And I love super ultrawide monitors (is that the real category name?). Any way, I like how thunderbolt allows to have everything connected with a single cable and all the all chaining involved. So my priority is to have a clean setup. I currently work with 3 displays and replacing them with a single 32:9 is “the dream”. I game casually, but do not expect high fps (but who can say no to a 120hz or higher display?). But my main use is work. I do a lot of coding, so a 1440p is my minimum for very crisp text. Does anybody know if this unicorn screen exists? I love how the Odyssey G9 looks, but it is not thunderbolt . I already know that there are many 21:9 thunderbolts out there, but I am discarding them. (I really want and need that extra screen real state ) also, I wish to future proof as most as possible. So, the better the screen... Thanks everyone!

What is the difference between the Adata Su650 and the samsung 860 evo, as they have the same read write speeds. Is it that the Samsung one has dram cache and the Adata is a dram-less ssd? I would like to know how big of a difference it will make in a general use, as I've never used a ssd before. and any other recommendations would be nice for a 250 gb ssd.

so i have been suffering through the last decade with a prebuilt pc and have been saving to build my own pc. i have had my eye on building in a Cooler Master HAF XB EVO case as it is PERFECT for my needs as i move between 2 residences for work and family reasons but dont want a dead end laptop. i would need a case with good airflow and space as i dont want compatibility isues so most of the common HTPC casess are a no go as they are all micro or mini atx or have Massive sacrafices to airflow. i prefer horizontal case design but a good tower design that can be used horisontaly without problems would also be fine as thats what i have at the moment.

I'm looking for a monitor with at least the specs on the title, since my last monitor decided to left the realm of the living. - Around 27" - HDMI 2.0 - 2k // 1440p - HDR600 or greater - 120Hz or greater - Factory calibrated, if possible (having at least somewhat correct colors for some minor image editing would be great) Any recomendations? Looked into alienware and samsung till now, sadly, no matches. Thanks for any tips/sugestions! Have a nice week~

dague99 posted a topic in Peripherals
hey i am looking for a good quality over ear wireless headset with charging base but the only good i can fing are the astro a50. anyone have another headset to recomend (no mic needed on it). it does'nt need the best audio quality nor the best batery life. i am gaming just 3h to 5h max and i mostly play non competitive game. thanks!! -
I'm in the market for some new headphones so looking for some recommendations. They will be mostly used for gaming but occasionally music and voice chat also. I don't need a mic build in as I have a Elgato Wave 3 They need to be 3.5mm jack so I can plug them into the back of the Wave 3 I am not worried about RGB. Its not a deal breaker either way. Ideally if possible I would like wireless headphones with a charging base station. USB dongle is no use as I want to connect them via the Wave 3 so would need 3.5mm connection from base station. If its not possible with wireless using 3.5mm then wired is fine. What do you recommend ?

Anyone have any cases that look similar to the Lian li o11 dynamic (preferably ones similar to the razer edtition)? I was originally going to buy an o11 back in november but now i go to buy one and its gone up way too much than im comfortable spending. Does anyone have any cases that look similar to the o11 for a reasonable price, Full ATX preferably but Mid is fine. I also need good case fans (included or separate) for a reasonable price. Or alternatively if you have any cases that look just nice in general that have tempered glass & good airflow then please send them here. Thanks

Hello, My system is a i5 6500, 16gb ram. I do not have a grapics card now. Have a 1080p monitor. As i do not have a dedicated graphics card i want to buy a gpu first before upgrading my system. Was looking into buying the rtx 2070 super which is around 59k jpy right now in amazon. 5700xt is around 52k jpy. The thing is, should i buy the rtx 2070 super now or wait for the nex gen gpus? What will be the performance delta like in the next generation gpus? Also there is pricing, in this covid situation i think prices will jump up, what do you guys think?

Hi guys, I would love it if you could recommend a PC power supply. A friend of mine has just bought a new PC and he just needs a power supply to go with it. We are from Argentina so there aren’t a lot of brands and models to choose from, prices rise week by week and US dollars are extremely expensive for us. My friend won’t really overclock his PC or demand a lot from it, he also won’t change any parts soon. He would like to have something that lasts a long time. I guess he would be OK with 500w, maybe even 450w? I’ll add some 650w or higher power supplies I found at a similar price to the options in case they are worth it. Setup: Ryzen 5 3600 Mother Asus prime B450 1 Tb HD SSD WD 240 Gb Green 2 x 8Gb 3200MHz Team T-Force Vulcan Z Asrock Rx 570 8gb OC Phantom Gaming D Sentey K20 Extreme RGB (4 fans) I did some research and found some models that fall well within his budget and placed them in Option 1. If you find all of them lacking and think he would need something better, he can make some sacrifices and extend his budget to cover the more expensive ones in Option 2. Option 1: EVGA 550 gd – P/N: 100-GD-0550-V8 ~ U$S 118 EVGA 450 gd – P/N: 100-GD-0450-V2~ U$S 89 Cooler Master Masterwatt 500 lite ~ U$S 76 Cooler Master MWE 500w ~ U$S 80 Cooler Master MWE V2 650w ~ U$S 90 Thermaltake Smart White 500w ~ U$S 68 Thermaltake Smart RGB 500w ~ U$S 79 Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 650w ~ U$S 126 Corsair VS 550 (yellow label) ~ U$S 97 Corsair VS 550 (grey label) ~ U$S 87 Corsair VC 550 (white label) ~ U$S 86 Sentey Sdp-550 ~ U$S 82 Gigabyte P650B ~ U$S 108 Seasonic S12III 500w ~ U$S 91 Option 2: EVGA 650gq ~ U$S 169 EVGA Supernova G3 550 ~ U$S 166 Gigabyte G750H ~ U$S 159 Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 650w ~ U$S 149 Seasonic 750w Focus Semi Modular (SSR-750FM) ~ U$S 177 Again, he would really prefer to get one from Option 1 so as to not go way over-budget. Thanks in advance

I've been trying to decide for the best atx case for my system, I will change the cpu cooler for some big noctua air cooler and I need a bunch of HDD bays, my budget is $100 usd. One of my choices is a corsair 400C or a 950D (I know it's more expensive but I love this case). What do you think? i5-6400 1x8GB ADATA XPG Z1 2x8GB CORSAIR VENGANCE LPX ASUS H170 PRO GAMING ASUS GTX 950 2GB OC THERMALTAKE V2 PLUS + PSU THERMALTAKE 450W 2x1TB HDD (only 1 in this picture) 1x160GB HDD

Hey guys back for more help with my old Dell E520 budget Lan Rig which is running great btw. Im thinkin of buying a quieter (not that noise usually bothers me) 120mm fan to go in the front of it, now anyone who knows anything about BTX dells will know that they have one big 120mm fan in the front of the case that pushes air through in my case a massive 6 heatpipe cpu cooler and then through to the rest of the case which means i only have to buy 1 fan which is great because i had Noctua in mind and their expensive af. This pc already runs pretty chill with its Q6600 and 750ti but im looking at putting a QX6700 in it soon as it has an unlocked mulitplier alowing me to overclock it with throttlestop (i would use setfsb on the q6600 like my others but this mobo has a max fsb of 1066 so that wont work and the q6600 has a locked multiplier. The point is heat output us gonna be increased so im thinkin a better fan for noise and possibly a cooling benefit too. I know the dell uses a proprietary cpu fan header i already have an aftermarket fan in the pc and it works fine with a molex to 3 pin adapter minus the cpu fan failure warning on startup. So yeah theres the background info now can someone recomend me the best fan for the application which i imagine would be a noctua and in that case if possible id rather have one of their gray fans even if its a bit noiser because holy shit their tan and cream fans are the ugliest thing since 90's beige pc's i dont want one of those ugly mofos in any of my pc's. Cheers guys.

Currently I have some old beat up office chair. I am wanting to upgrade to a nicer chair as my current one has started causing back pain and I have a few other issues with it. One big one is that the arm rests are too short to meed my desk properly. This forces me to aim with only my wrist which can be a big issue. A chair with adjustable arm rests would be great (Maybe my current chair just can't rise as much as a normal chair). I'm also home schooled so I spend a lot of time sitting doing school work, so a chair that's comfortable after using it for hours is important. With that in mind, what chairs do you guys use or recommend? I have a budget of around 300 to 450 USD. Thanks!

Looking for a laptop at around £1000 to £1500 area. I do still have student discount available (thank you uni for not disabling my email) so if the company provides a student discount thats a big bonus. The upper limit is push-able by a few hundred but only if its the perfect laptop. The use is for gaming. I work abroad for long periods of time and want a gaming laptop for when I'm away. I'm away for around 8 months of the year so this laptop will become the main gaming machine so needs to be capable. May go to a external gpu while at home so ability to do that is beneficial but I spend more time away so it needs to be just as capable as a gaming PC. It will spend most of its time plugged into power so battery life isn't a major concern. Portability isn't a major concern either as it will go in a suitcase and then live its life on a desk for a few months before another trip in a suitcase. It needs to be airport friendly no massive batteries not that I've seen any laptops who break the limit yet. Requirements Thunderbolt 3. Large enough storage to support a good amount of games. Or ability to easily add extra storage. Many of the places I go have poor internet access so need to have a good back catalog with me. Battery cannot be drained when power supply is being used. Bonus points if it has Doesn't have a stupid gamer look. A decent track pad. Pain of owning a mac book with its god tier track pad. Keyboard doesn't get incredibly hot during gaming. I do like a number pad. (very low down on priorities) External GPU support. Ethernet port Stuff I dont care about High screen resolution/high refresh rate/Gsync/colour accuracy Weight (obviously there is a limit as airports limit to 20Kg a bag so i need to get my luggage and my tech into 40Kg) battery life webcam Touch screen Speakers Microphone RGB gamer aesthetics crap.
