Hello everyone, some time ago I received an Area 51m laptop. Unfortunately, it only has 2x4GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM installed. I would like to upgrade to 16GB, but the memory is running at only 2400MHz. Is it possible to install faster RAM in this laptop or is the RAM speed locked by DELL? What RAM speed should I buy? I'd also be fine with removing the old RAM-Sticks if necessary. CPU: i7-9700 GPU: RTX2080 SSD: 256GB m.2 Thanks in advance!

I was giving some thought to how there is DDR5 RAM on the market that can be set to run a such a high frequency that the CPUs currently on the market don't actually support these speeds. I have seen up to 7200Mhz RAM at online market places, but have seen companies' websites that list RAM up to 8000Mhz. This makes me wonder if someone actually uses the DDR5 RAM at these speed if they are a shortening its life span or if they could actaully extend it by run at a lower frequency than the max speed its rate for. From the point of view that depending on the quality of the Silicon in a processor you could shorten its life when Over Clocking it. It would make sense that Running the DDR5 RAM at such high frequency could short its life. Though comparing RAM to a CPU is like comparing apples to oranges.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but on a quick search of the forum, I was unable to find it and I've been unable to find a satisfactory answer online as well. I built and even sold many PCs as a teenager, but I have done little to no PC building in the 20 or so years since, so things have changed quite a bit since then. Lol. I'm collecting the components for a PC build and I'm using the Intel Core i5-10400 processor. Intel shows that this processor can handle RAM speeds up to 2666MHz. My motherboard (MSI B460M-PRO-VDH-WIFI) says it can handle up to 2933MHz RAM speeds. However, I've seen many PC build videos online recently by LTT and others which use Intel i5 CPU's and similar B-series motherboards with much faster RAM than either can support (3200MHz and higher). Will my CPU bottleneck the RAM speed if I get faster RAM, or is there something the pros know that I don't in this case? Are there other PC components that will be able to somehow utilize the higher speed RAM to the point where it will be beneficial to go with, say 3200MHz instead of the i5 "maximum" of 2666? Any help on this topic would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! So I built a new PC yesterday, first one since 2016. I'm no expert at this and I never really change stuff in the BIOS. I've been told to enable XMP to get the most out of my RAM. However when enabling this my PC won't boot. I get a message saying it posted in safe mode. This due to a previous post attempt failing because of system instabillity, and it throws me back into BIOS. I updated my BIOS and that didn't help. I also enabled XMP but then changed the speed all the way down to 2800MHz but I just get blue screened. My memory is currently running at 2133MHz I have no idea how to manually set the timings/voltage and all that stuff so if someone wants to hold my hand..? My specs: Intel i7 12700k ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4 ASUS ROG STRIX 3080 G. Skill Trident Zero Neo RGB 16GB 3600MHz DDR4 CL16

Hi i have an issue where When i turn on / Restart my pc it runs awesome i run a MaxxMem2 test and my results are 32000mbs Read , 38000mbs Write ,38000mbs Copy and around 52ms of Latency everything runs great! Although After i game for a couple hours or so and go to Test my Read speed on Maxxmem2 will drop to 24000mbs and games will not be as responsive but its always after gaming for a couple hours or so i don't have any other programs open than when i run the test before but it repeatedly drops and i cannot work out why . I have tried leaving it a while before running the test again to see if it was a heat issue but no difference it will stay slow until i restart the pc . It is only the Read speed affected Write, Copy & Latency stay the same . Can anybody help me with this ? My pc specs. Intel I7 7700k , Asus z270p , G.skill 32gb 3600mhz cl17 ram , Corsair 550w psu , Asus Tuf Rtx 3070 , Sabrent Rocket q 1 tb Win 10 pro Also everything is Updated through Windows and Snappy Driver installer my Bios is Fully updated to the latest Version and I have run Testmem5 without any Errors . I only have a picture of the test after restart because i forgot to screenshot before restarting. I appreciate any help thanks

Hi, just bought this pc: Motherboard: ASUS PRIME H410M-A Storage: Kingston NV1 500GB m.2 NVMe RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2933MHz CL16 Vengeance RG CPU: Intel Core i5 10400F 2,9 GHz 12MB PSU: Corsair CX550M 550W GPU: GTX 1080 msi SEA HAWK I built the pc, it posted and I downloaded windows 10 with help of a usb flash. The computer runs fine and I start to download things. Then after my first restart the computer runs but it gives no signal to any of my monitors. I suspect that it might be a ram problem so I went into bios and enables XMP profile1. This was supposed to set the speed from 2133 to 2933 but it does not work and same problem with no signal remains. There is one way for me to get signal but I don't understand why it works: I force turn off the computer. It then starts in safe mode and I can enter bios by pressing F1. There I can boot thru my windows boot manager on my main drive and it works fine. But then if I turn off the computer and turn it on again I get no signal and have to repeat. Please help, the computer is a Christmas gift! :///

Hi i need someone to help me understand something about my ram . My system is a i7 7700k oc'd to 5.1 ghz on a z270 prime asus board when i bought it i had 2400mhz corsair vengeance cl15 which run fine but i figured with a new 3070 i would get some better ram so i bought 3600mhz cl16 crucial ballistix which is where the trouble started . After getting xmp running the correct voltage and timings my system starts and seems to run fine until it comes to gaming i get hardly any hit reg in shooters and after the pc has been on for 12+ hours it starts to freeze up from time to time it will stutter hard with repeating sounds that are happening at the time . I figured this was due to faulty ram so i swapped out the cruicial ballistix for some Corsair vengeance 3600mhz cl18 and after setting up the ram sure enough back to no hit reg in games. I have put the 2400mhz vengeance back in and its fine again but i just dont understand why this would happen i have tried updating chipset drivers and giving the ram extra voltage but no luck . Im hoping someone here could help me please as this is bugging me thanks.

Link to PCPartpicker list Just wondering if I should get high-speed RAM or stable RAM for my 10400F build (B560 allows RAM overclocking). I've looked at some reviews on it and looks like other people had to do some tuning to get it to be stable (no blue screens/crashes, etc.), which I don't mind doing. If it requires me to lower the speed for stability, I will. But if it needs to go below something like 4000, I might as well get some RAM rated at 3600. I just thought it would be a good idea to get the fastest RAM I could get since DDR5 is coming out in the next year or two. Has anyone tinkered with ram with this speed before? Any thoughts about it, especially with an Intel build?

Okay so here’s my situation. my computer has an i9-10900KF RTX 2060 32GB Corsair vengeance ram (3200Mhz) 750 W gold PSU and an Asus unify motherboard. I recently got more ram for my computer from a family member who had no use for it and it was a pair of 3000Mhs 8gb sticks. so currently I have 2x16gb sticks that are 3200Mhz but would it be good/bad or would it even work to add: 2x8gb sticks that are 3000Mhz thank you!

A buddy of mine is Building a PC and has Purchased few parts like CPU - i9 11900KF Motherboard - ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Hero and he was planning to Buy 4000Mhz 128 GB ram (32x4) , but the Intel website says the CPU supports 3200Mhz dual channel. can someone explain this, it has been 2+ years since i built my PC but, correct me if im wrong, isnt it a waste of money to get anything above 3200Mhz If CPU has that limit and Owner never plans to Overclock anything?

Heyy, first things first: I've got a Ryzen 5 2600X, an Asus Prime B450M-A Mainboard and 2*8G of Crucial Ballistix 2400Mhz RAM. My BIOS reports the ram correctly as 2400Mhz but in Windows it only shows up as 1500Mhz (Taskmanager and HWiNFO). Then I tried autooverclocking in the BIOS just to see what happens: The RAM gets reported as 3000Mhz in the BIOS but no change in Windows. Can I do something about it? With Ryzen MAster it becomes instable at atleast 1700Mhz...

I am planning my next build (PC Part Picker List Here, Still waiting to add the 5900x, also, still undecided on GPU) and there have been rumors about 4000MHz being the sweetspot for Ryzen 5000. I stream, game, do 3d Modelling (blender mostly) and use Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, etc. I am undecided about what RAM kit to go with (I already know that I am going with a 4x8 configuration). The 2 options I am deciding between are THIS kit, 3600MHz CL16, and THIS kit, 4000MHz CL18. I have seen VERY good reviews for Crucial Ballistix Elite memory and the 3600 kit can apparently be overclocked to 4000MHz no sweat without an increase in latency. I would assume the 4000MHz kit would have higher quality modules and the latency could be tuned back to CL16 (16, 18 ,18 ,36). I probably wont be overclocking it past 4000. Right now I'm leaning towards the 3600 kit but I just wondering of anyone wants to throw in there 2 cents about my choices for RAM. NOTE: Please no "rAm SpEeD DoEsnT MatTeR" replies, I would like actually helpful responses only please, thanks!

Hey everyone. I have simple question about ram latency. I am building my first pc and I'm getting the HyperX furry 16gb 3200mhz Cl15. I ik that there are many ram latency like Cl14,15,16,17,18... and I know that the lower Cl the better cause there will be less latency and my question is how big of a difference is there between Cl15 and Cl16. Thank you

Hello! i have 2x32GB ddr4 RAM sticks that are 3600mhz. I just upgraded my motherboard and CPU, and after doing that, my RAM speed was lowered. I double checked and the PC sees both sticks, and they are placed in B1 and A1 slot on the motherboard. The RAM speed in BIOS is set to Auto, and i tried changing the speed in bios to 3600mhz, but then my pc didn't want to boot! it started up, but shut down before even bios screen, then came up with error, so i had to change it back to Auto to boot in to windows. Any tips? Specs: Motherboard - Rog Strix B550-E Gaming CPU - Ryzen 9 5900X RAM - Corsair Vengance RGB PRO, 2x32GB, 3600MHz

i just bought 3 things on amazon, a new motherboard, a ryzen 5 5600x and 8gb of ram. when i was done building the new parts, windows booted fine, i opened task manager and it told that the ram was at 2133mhz instead of 3000mhz, which is the speed of the ram i bought. i am scared to change bios settings and i didn't even see anything related to ram speed. does anyone know how to change the speed to 3000mhz? thanks cpu: r5 5600x mobo: asus prime b450-plus ram: corsair vengeance LPX 3000mhz 1x8 gb

Long story short, I bought the wrong speed ram, to go with my cpu. Ripjaws- 8gb x2, 3600mhz. Intel i5 11500. Asus tuf gaming z590 plus wifi. When I set the ram speed in the bios, I'm only stable up to 3066. The cpu is rated up to 3200. Am I missing something in setting the increased ram speed to 3200? Voltages etc?

Hey all, I have a bit of a newbie problem here. I upgraded my RAM to Crucial Ballistix 32GB Kit (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 BL2K8G32C16U4B. My motherboard is the Asus Prime B550M-A (Wi-Fi). After installing the RAM it was running at the default speed of 2666MHz so I visited the BIOS settings and enabled DOCP. The thing is, I'm not sure whether my RAM is running at 3200MHz now or not since I'm getting contradictory information from every single app I use. The first confusing part is the BIOS itself as it includes two different speeds! Please, see the attached images. The information I get from various apps is also contradictory. I've tried Windows' Task Manager, CPU-Z, and Asus CPU-Z. The Task Manager tells me that the RAM's speed is 3200MHz, while the other two tell me that the RAM's speed is 1599MHz (please, see the final attached image). So which one is it? Is my RAM overclocked (3200 MHz) or not? Many thanks!

I've recently built a brand new intel based PC, however I've been experiencing some trouble with it - the main issues are as follows: 1. My RAM is not running at advertised speeds and neither the base XMP profile nor manually overclocking the RAM in BIOS seems to do anything to change this. 2. There is a long (2-3 minute) wait at a black screen before the computer enters boot whenever the PC is turned on or restarted. The motherboard's DRAM light is lit red during this time. Steps I've taken to try and diagnose/solve the issue: Ram related: 1. I've run memtest86 on my RAM and it passes with zero errors. 2. Tried running my ram in both slots 1&3, and 2&4 - no difference in ram performance. 3. Tried running a single stick of RAM in slot 1 - no difference in ram performance. Boot related: 3. I've tried reinstalling windows on my SSD after wiping it, (both windows 10 and 11 twice each) - no difference in boot time. 4. I've removed all storage devices except for a single SSD and tried to boot from there - no difference in boot time. 5. I've tried booting without my graphics card installed - no difference in boot time. 6. I've updated my BIOS to the latest version - no difference in boot time or RAM performance. My Build Configuration is as follows: Processor: Intel Core i7-13700K 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor Motherboard: ASRock Z790 Pro RS ATX LGA1700 Motherboard RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-5600 CL40 Memory My Full Parts List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vzZPk9 Has anyone else experienced these kinds of issues? At this point, I am thinking that my motherboard might be bad/incompatible with my other hardware. If you guys can give me some help with this, I'd be very thankful.

Hi all i was wondering if i could get a little guidance every time i change my Ram speed to anything other than the default 2133MHz my PC runs very unstable it crashes and sometime i have to remove the battery from the motherboard to get it to boot. Here are my specs. Also i have tried XMP same result, What am i missing . BaseBoard Manufacturer ASRock BaseBoard Product B550M Pro4 Power Supply: EVGA 650W Processor : AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s) Ram : Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB total (4x8GB) DDR4 3600 GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC Gaming, 12G-P5-3657-KR, 12GB GDDR6 Thanks all !

So just wondering, it the max memory speed is 3600 for a full rack. Is there any point for buying something faster? I know tighter timings are good and size is another thing. Just am wondering if there'd be any benefit to buying a kit that say for example is 4000. Would there be any possible benefit from that. Thinking more so about just buying at that speed if slightly above it and just maxing out size.

ram speed Boot issues on 3600 mhz speed on 2 dimm slots
SinaNeedsHelp posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hey guys, So i have this MoBo : asus tuf gaming x570-plus (wi-fi) https://www.asus.com/nl/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/TUF-Gaming/TUF-GAMING-X570-PLUS-WI-FI/ And this is the RAM: Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8GB 3600 I have bought 2x8 corsair sticks RAM, which is 3600 speed My MoBo should support it right? I have a 3700x When i Put my RAM on the green spot ( see screenshot below ) i CANNOT Boot my pc on 3600 mhz and it keeps sending me back to the bios. If i change the speed to 3200 mhz i am able to boot again. If i put the same RAM stick into the Pink dimm slots i CAN boot my pc on 3600 mhz. I just bought the same set of RAM again ( another 2x8 GB ) and will try them on the green Dimms on 3600. Does Anyone know why the 2 green dimm slots cannot boot with RAM on 3600mhz? Am i missing something?- 4 replies

Alright so I built a ryzen PC with an Asus board for a friend back in December, when I tried to get the ram to run at its rated speed via DOCP (3200MHz), it would not post, I visited his house 3 times doing my absolute best trying to manually key in the XMP profile, anything to get the ram beyond 2133, but the best I could pull off was 2800MHz (with the same timings and whatnot as the 3200MHz profile), the ram was even on the QVL, so we left it at that thinking that was the best we could pull off, and thought of never buying another Asus ryzen board. However during the process I found next to no forum posts or discussions of this issue. Keep in mind I just recently built another PC for my little brother and had no issue getting the ram to its rated speed via XMP (R3 3100, 2x8GB 3200MHz CL16 OLOy, AsRock B450m-Pro4). Am I retarded, was it the board, or is DOCP Garbage? (For that friend's PC we were using a corsair 2x8gb 3200MHz CL16 kit, a Ryzen 5 3600, and an Asus X570 gaming plus wifi.)

Hey just wondering if anyone can help me out. Is it work buying the Ryzen 5 1600, 2600 or 3600. Is it worth the extra money to get a 3600 instead of a 1600. My budget is around £700($860) so which one should i get and is 3600Mhz ram necessary for these processors. If you have any other ideas for part as well that would be great too. Thanks
