Help!! No signal after CMOS reset when using both ram slot
kennkai posted a topic in Troubleshooting
This is a follow up post for previous thread regarding CMOS reset issue. A new problem rises. When using both ram slot my pc keep showing no signal and stuck at EZ debug light for ram. I have tried both slot using single slot setting and also tried swapping both ram in the same ram slot and it work as intended, no issue. Here's my general info of my specs Mobo: MSI B550m Pro (2 ram slots) GPU: RTX 2060 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Ram: KLEVV 2x8gb- 6 replies

Hey! First of all these are my specs: Gigabyte B550 GAMING X V2 Ryzen 5 5600x G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 MHz 4x 8 GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 When setting up the PC I had was greeted with the fTpm message for new CPU detected. Getting into the Bios I disabled it there and set up the XMP-1 profile. Since then, I had my RAM running at its rated 3600 MHz under the XMP-1 profile perfectly fine. After a few months when I came back from holiday I was greeted with same fTpm message again and noticed that my MoBo apparently reset itself, thus resetting the XMP-1 profile and my RAM was now running at 2133 MHz. I then upgraded the Bios, disabled the fTmp again and set up the XMP-1 again. Now to the Issue. For some reason the system does not save the 3600MHz. When saving and exiting the BIOS, the PC shuts down, the PSU clicks, and the fans go on. Then it shuts down again, repeats this once again. Then on the third click it boots and I can log into Windows. When I load into windows afterwards the RAM is only running at 2133MHz again. I've checked the BIOS again but the XMP-1 was still enabled with 3600MHz, so according to the BIOS it should run fine. Anyone any idea why the issue might be? If you need any further info, please let me know! Grateful for any advice! Thanks in advance

About a week ago I built a new pc and installed lunar client. After booting up the game and playing for a bit, the game suddenly froze and the screen displayed a sort of black/blue randomized pixelated screen. After staying frozen for a moment, the window closed, as well as several other applications that use a decent amount of ram, such as Discord, and Steam. "Maybe that was just a one off" I thought to myself. but alas, yet again it crashed after about 20 mins of gaming. So I decided to do a bit of investigating into the matter. I had noticed a few things so far. It was most definitely some type of ram issue, I was pretty sure it happened only when I was closing/opening a GUI, it is only happening with lunar client. Not default Minecraft or any other applications. I then did a few tests. Test one confirmed that it was a ram usage problem by means of monitoring task manager whilst playing the game, and after it getting to 100% usage it would do the weird crash thing. Test two confirmed it was GUI related. I confirmed this by repeatedly opening GUI's, and every time one was opened/closed ram usage would go up by about 70mb. I could now recreate the crash by opening and closing GUI's for about 30 seconds. And test 3 confirmed that it was only a lunar client based problem, as I had done the same test on the default Minecraft. But all this begs the question. Why. Is. This. Happening?????? (I have also changed the ram allocation to see if that affects anything. It does not.) Pc Specs: Ryzen 7 5700g. Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 16G ram 3200mhz. (POSSIBLY IMPORTANT: I am using integrated graphics. I do not have a dedicated GPU) Thank you for your time.

Hey, So i have a good PC which in itself does everything perfectly and really fast, but since my last bios update (Where my PC crashed mid update and having to start from the beginning) i cant really play any demanding games on an hour basis due to my PC just crashing in different ways every single time. Somtimes its the typical ":(" blue screen where it told me something with "Lower or not equal" i dont quite remember the last time an actual blue screen was shown is quite some weeks ago. Nowadays it doenst show any failiures, the PC gets stuck for a few seconds then all goes black, including mouse and keyboard. And im back at my login screen as if i pressed on the restart button. I checked the Event manager to get some information, It told me an error that said "bugcheck 0x00000139". I also ran the memory diagnostic while i was troubleshooting and the test told me that there were errors found in my RAM, but after switching the RAM with 100% working other ones from my brother the problem still persisted the same exact way just a bit later. Reinstalling my BIOS didnt fix anything, same thing with Windows. I will give any relevant specs down below! If anyone needs more information please just ask! Specs GPU: AMD Radeon 6950xt Asus ROG Edition CPU: Intel i5 12600KF RAM: GSkill Tridentz 4x8 (32) 3600mhz ddr4 Mainboard: MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 PSU: 850W Be quiet gold modular (Was also tested not the issue) OPS: Windows 11 PRO x64 Version 10.0.22621 My Bios version i have right now came out in January the 9th 2023

Hello, I have a rather unusual problem I replaced a GTX 1650 with an RX 6700xt. After replacing the card I uninstalled the nvidia drivers and then installed the drivers for the amd card and updated the drivers on the chipset but had problems with games having slight stutters every few seconds. I decided to repeat the process of uninstalling and then installing the drivers. This fixed the problem but some games still had the stutter problem (I didn't have them with 1650). So I decided to remove and insert the card from the slot. After doing this, the computer turned on, but gave no picture (the VGA light was on). So I decided to remove one of the two RAM sticks and the comp booted up normally. After turning off the computer again, I put the other ram stick back in. The computer booted up without any problems. Being convinced that I would solve this by completely uninstalling windows I did so. This did not help. There was still the same problem, that when I remove the card and put it back in, it would not boot up on two ram sticks. After booting on one stick, turning off and inserting the other it works normally as it did before reinstalling windows I would like to add that the bios was updated before I started the replacement process. The Last thing I did was resetting the bios(didn't help). In general after reseating gpu pc turns on but no display. It only turns on after removing ram stick from second slot. After that It boots normally. After shutting down and putting in the second stick everything works just fine. It ONLY happens after gpu reseat. Specs: MOBO: B450 aorus elite v2 CPU: R5 3600 RAM 2x16: Corsair vengance pro rgb 3200mhz PSU: Be quiet straight Power 11 650w The rx 6700xt is from sapphire

Hello I need help for my new build i got a few days ago my ram speed isn't at its advertised speed, I ENABLE XMP and its sets one part of my RAM frequency to 3200 but the other part still says 2133. My build is a APU build so my memory speed is very important i have dual channel G.Skill ram. I have provided a video of me trying to get 3200mhz please help me if you can and here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/txhh/saved/DMr2Vn tiktokvideo_1613571666.mp4

Hey y'all, I'm having a wee bit of trouble with my RAM at the moment. I bought it because it was rated at 3200MHz and it won't boot when I change it in the bios. I have successfully got it to boot in 3000MHz after I re-flashed the BIOS (Which did put a smile on my face), but when I attempt to boot into anything above 3000MHz it goes to the American Megatrends screen and my RAM is set back to 2133MHz. I know other people have asked the exact same question, but their solution doesn't exactly fix my issue. My specs are: Ryzen 5 3600 ASUS B450-PLUS MOBO G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200MHz ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1070 8GB Please help fix my issue!

For the past week or so I've been having performance issues with my PC, I tried fixing it by doing everything software related I could and noticed my ram (I have two sticks of 4GB) was always at 40-50% usage, even when I wasn't playing anything. So, I rather stupidly took the matter into my own hands. About two days ago, I moved my PC onto my kitchen table, opened it and gave it a dust inside. I then proceeded to remove the ram and clean it with a lens cleaner. When I put the ram back and tried to launch my computer all that would happen is that my fans would come on (much faster than usual) for about 10 seconds, turn off and then come back on again. There is no output to the monitor. I borrowed a friend's stick of RAM and my PC still wouldn't boot so I am unsure of what the issue is. Also, it's probably worth mentioning that I am very inexperienced in the world of PC building and had a friend build my computer, otherwise I wouldn't be on this forum. For this same reason, I am hesitant to remove any other parts of my computer as I wouldn't want to complicate the situation. All I have touched is the RAM. I have tried many different configurations of both sets of RAM and yet, no luck. I ought to add that the issue is not with the monitor, the way the fans turn on is very unusual so there is clearly an issue within the computer itself. PLEASE HELP, Henry For reference, my PC components: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ykywxG

Hey guys, I have had a troublesome past couple of weeks with my PC. At first, I was experiencing frequent BSOD errors and crashes. After doing a fresh reinstall of Windows, it seemed to fix the issue. Now, whenever I try to play a game (Black Ops Cold War Beta, Destiny 2, R6 Siege, etc.), the game does not run smoothly even at upwards of 140 FPS. The performance in game also deteriorates over time. I have checked my game settings and made sure my monitor output is correct. To me, these issues sounded like a RAM issue. I tested the RAM and the tests came back saying there were no errors or fuckups. After this, I decided to test each stick on their own, getting the same results. I have no idea what the issue is and I would very much appreciate any help I can get. PC Specs: Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-9700K Processor (8x 3.60GHz/12MB L3 Cache) Overclocked Motherboard: ASRock Z390 PHANTOM GAMING 4-IB Memory: 16 GB [8 GB X2] DDR4-3000 Memory Module Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 - 8GB GDDR6 Power Supply: 850 Watt - Standard 80 PLUS Gold OS: Windows 10 64bit I would like to mention that the BIOS does not recognize my RAM as DDR4 3000, it recognizes it as DDR4 2666. Whenever I try to enable XMP Profile it fails to boot several times, so I do not use XMP.

Hi everyone! I have this problem right now with this mobo... In the manual it says that is possible shared up to 16GB of RAM (if you have the double amount installed on the system) with the iGPU but in the bios settings the maximum that i can set is 2GB. I have 16GB of RAM @ 3000Mhz. My BIOS version is: 3.30 (I tried the 3.70 and get nothing but bugs so i have to downgrade again to 3.30). So i don't know what to do now. If anyone knows this motherboard i'll appreciate your help!

Hey, so I'm having an issue please help me Issue: My PC wont boot. The DRAM Q-LED is flashing 1 second ON followed by a brief interval of being off. Prelude: I bumped my desk, which shook my PC that sits on top, causing my PC to BSOD "clock_watchdog_timeout" The BSOD for up to 100% but stayed there for a while, but now wont boot. Quick google said I may have a loose connection somewhere causing the BSOD. Tried Solutions that didn't work: - So I dismantled everything of my PC short of removing the mobo from the PC case, and cleaned out the dust. - I've reseated the CPU twice, no pins were damaged during either removal or replacement. - I have tried multiple RAM slot configurations, including just a single stick in each slot. - Cleaned the RAM contacts - I have used the USB BIOS Flashback to put the latest stable firmware - I have cleared CMOS by shorting the two contacts for atleast 10 Seconds, and also removing the battery and shorting the contacts for a minute. - Tried different RAM sticks - Tried different CPU Currently in contact with the store I bought the motherboard from to replace it under warranty Tech Specs: - 5600X - ASUS B550-F (WI-FI) - 2x8Gb DDR4-3600 CL16 - GTX 970 - M.2 Boot - 1xSSD + 2xHDD Storage - Corsair HX750 PSU

So I'm having an issue. Recently went from a 750ti to an rx6600, not a bad leap for me, and I was running benchmarks to see how much better my performance was compared to my old card. I noticed the benchmarks weren't super high, figured it was nothing, and went on with my day. I had to check something using task manager and that's when I noticed only 8gb of my ram was showing, bit weird but maybe it was Windows not seeing it properly? Nope, I see hardware reserved 8.1gb and I'm so confused. I've looked online and followed a few fixes, nothing has worked. My bios (gigabyte - from an a320m mobo) as far as I'm aware doesn't show any settings that are useful for me, to fix this. Should I just do a complete wipe and reinstall of windows, or is there a fix? I've tried everything in this link except bios reset to default, mostly because I can't seem to find it, and flashing the bios as it's currently up to date. Also, XMP doesn't ever seem to stick anymore.

Hey guys so overnight my motherboard has decided that it no longer likes the DRAM in my system. My current specs are Ryzen 5 1600 Asus ROG STRIX X370-F Gskill Trident Z 4 x 8GB Asus ROG STRIX 1080ti OC 500GB WD Black NVME SSD The system will post and make it to the windows login screen and maybe the desktop depending how quick I am, but the screen will go dark and my keyboard and mouse will die. The mobo's qLED will stay Yellow (DRAM Issue) for a second and quickly flash then go back to solid for another second. I've tried taking out half of the ram set, leaving only one stick in, and switching to an entirely new set with no dice. Only way for me to "use" my pc is by booting into safe mode. If anyone would happen to know any fixes for this let me know. I've tried updating my bios and uninstalling win 10 updates. I've also tried running my ram at 2133mhz to give it it's best chance at life

Hey guys, Not often I must post on here, but in this case I'm looking for some second opinions on this issue. First the backstory, I have a system I built awhile ago that has a 4790K in it, my main system has a 4770K, my plan was to swap the two since I could use the extra lil' bit of juice on my main system but mostly the temp change and overclock potential was what I was looking for. So I do the swap, I think everything went fine! 4790K system ran fine with the 4770K in it, however my main system that originally had the 4770K in it now hangs on post code "15" (Gigabyte board) Which means according to the manual "Northbridge initialization". Odd I thought, but I figured it'd go away after another cold boot so I do that still gets stuck there which is when I start to worry. I do CMOS reset, still not getting past it. I swap the CPUs back, 4790K is functioning in the old system, but 4770K is getting the same issue on my system. I verified 4790K is supported by my board, and the BIOS has the latest firmware. So I immediately jump to RAM, I pull out all except the 1st stick (L -> R) and it still gives me that error. I then swap one DIMM slot over each time and then on slots 3 and 4 both get past that post code and boot to windows. I throw in another stick in and put them in 3/4 and that also works! Knowing they both work I try them again in slots 1/2 and get stuck on post code 15 again. Also tested with my other sticks (4 total) So conclusion from that is, the 2 DIMM slots nearest the socket are dead. All my RAM sticks are however functioning. From my research, this seems to point to pin damage in the socket, or an improper seat. However, upon inspection the pins seem okay, (I need to take a better look later on). I've also reseated the chip and it didn't change. (There shouldn't be much room for variation either). Does anybody have any other ideas? Obviously, it's something to do with the my attempted CPU swap as it was only after that it occurred, which would be I damaged the CPU itself? (Seems unlikely, that's hard to do). The pins seem more likely but I didn't feel the swap went badly at any point, pulled the CPU out straight up when removing, and put it in as evenly as I could installing. Hopefully somebody has other ideas! (Detailed system specs are in my signature)

Turned on the computer, amd stock fan turns on, lights up. GPU fans spin (then turn off) but lights remain. No display, stays black, so I tried putting in a system speaker from my old computer, tried again, no beeps. Tested the display on another computer, display is fine. Tried the motherboard AND gpu hdmi. I have AB350M PRO4 motherboard. GTX 1080TI Strix Corsair Vengeance led 16gb 3000mhz my motherboard only supports 2667mhz but i'm reading, and even on their site, that ram should lower down to that mhz anyway. It's not on their supported list which is ringing alarm bells, but have read others saying their systems have worked with it. PSU is a seasonic prime titanium 650w It turns on to the point of fans and leds turning on, but nothing comes up on the screen. Unless I have to give it a few minutes? Tried both ram slots, no dice either way. They light up/ Any ideas? Would it definitely be a ram issue? System speaker won't make any noise to give me any hints and the motherboard website has no real troubleshooting,

Hey, guys. I have a problem with my motherboard and I think it's finally dead now. (Or it seems so, at least) I've had it since 2013 from a cheap brazilian brand named PCWARE, and around 2016 it started giving me a few issues: It happened that I tried to turn on my PC and the MOBO simply didn't give any video output at all, and kept rebooting itself in a infinite loop (It turned on with no video and after 10 seconds it turned off/on again and kept doing that on and on), so for a fix I simply switched my RAMs from a slot to another and the computer simply turned on back again and I moved on with life. (keep in mind this happened first 4 years ago) The thing is, some months later out of nowhere, the issue always seemed to return, and sometimes I even had to run only with one RAM stick to make the PC turn on again, and then, some days later, I just added the other stick back and BOOM! the thing turned itself on again. But now, it seems like it is completely ''dead'' or bugged, because I can't seem to turn my PC off, since everytime I try to start it back on again, the motherboard keeps rebooting itself with no video output at all around 20 times till it's FINALLY able to turn my PC on, and I've already tried to do all kind of fixes I did back again, but now nothing seems to fix it. I know the motherboard is the faulty piece here, and I'll probably have to buy another one, but I just would like to know if you guys know why it's able to turn itself on after 20 retries (like, literally rebooting and rebooting till the bios screen show up) and if there is a fix I can do for it, since I've tried everything I can think of. (I am writing this using this same PC right now, and it works just fine with all the components on 100% usage, it just doesnt work when I turn it off and try to turn it on again) CPU: i5-3470 PSU: Corsair CX 430 GPU: GTX 960 Windforce Gigabyte RAM: 2x4GB Kingston SSD and HD MOBO: PCWARE IPMH61R3

Hi guys, last week i built my new PC. The specs are X570 Aorus Pro MB, 3700X, RTX 2080 and 4x8gb sticks of 3200Mhz 16 cas kingston hyper x predator Ram. I have gone into the uefi bios and enabled xmp. this at first seemed to be fine but yesterday i was having a few issues booting. when it finally posted after 3 power cycles i checked cpu-z and found that 1 of my ram sticks is operating at 1200Mhz with a cas latency of 17, the second module is also at 1200mhz but with a cas latency of 18, the 3rd module is running at 1600Mhz with a cas latency of 16 and finally the forth module is running at 1501Mhz with cas 15. Now i know there is a lot i don't know about PC's but i'm pretty sure that shouldn't be right. i was under the impression that all ram speeds need to be equal and any faster ram will operate at the slower clock speeds which is clearly not the case here. Please tell me somebody has some info pertaining to this as i cant seem to find anything about it through searches alone

Might be alot of text, but please be my savior! I do not know what is going on with my ram Mhz. Please help. My ram compatibility sucks hard i guess, it is stock at 2133 mhz. When i try to bump it up to q higher clock the pc wont go on, than i have to remove all 2 RAM sticks. Then I need to put one RAM stick in the third slot and it has to be specifically one of the two because it won't boot with the other stick. After that when it works again and a PC goes on I put in the dual channel RAM again. And then when I go to the bios the clock is back at 2133. Am I doing something wrong or is it just that I'm really unlucky with my bad compatibility? Please help me overclock my RAM to 3000mhz (2933mhz) because my RAM is 3000mhz and I want that one ghz wich i payed for. My BIOS the click BIOS 5 of MSI. MY MOTHERBOARD IS A MSI X370 SLI PLUS my CPU is a ryzen 7 1700 and I got two times for gigs of Corsair Vengeance lpx 3000mhz RAM sticks. Please help Btw, i tried with and without A-XMP.

Been troubleshooting for a while with no solution so I figured I'd ask to see if there's something I'm missing. My brother's desktop has 16GB of RAM but only 8GB is showing in the BIOS, Task Manager and System Properties. However if I look at each DIMM slot in the BIOS it shows that each slot is populated and CPUZ shows that all slots are populated and there is 16GB running in dual channel. His PC used to display 16GB in the BIOS but recently has only been showing 8GB. The BIOS has been updated to the latest release. He has an MSI Z77A-G41 motherboard and 4x4GB sticks of Corsair 1600MHz RAM. They are two different kits of sticks but since they worked before I don't think that should be an issue. Things I've tried so far are: Reseating the RAM, including various configurations of sticks so I'm sure the sticks are working. Cleaning out the DIMM slots. Resetting CMOS via jumper on motherboard. Making sure there is no memory cap in msconfig. Running x64bit Windows 10 Pro. Attempting to link, delink, and set to auto the DRAM timings, voltage, etc. Attempting to run with and without XMP Attempting to run a lower speed than the stock 1333MHz I think the last thing to check is reseating the CPU? Any thoughts on something I could be missing?

I needed to upgrade my RAM, so I bought two HyperX 8GB sticks. The specs are: 1866MHz @1.5v. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P This shouldn't cause any issue with compatibility as it lists compatibility of up to 32GB, 1866Mhz and 1.5v. Yet anytime I attempt to turn on my computer with the new sticks installed, the fans spin up for about 3-5 seconds then the system turns off, it keeps trying to turn on after that but the same thing - fans then turns off. It works completely fine with the old RAM. I've tried using different slots, using 1 stick at a time and gone through the BIOS but nothing seems to work, the same issue keeps occuring. Again, I don't think this is compatibility issues, as none of the specs of the RAM are not listed on the Gigabyte site. My main opinion is that the BIOS settings are not correct, I have briefly gone through it, but nothing looked like it would cause these issues, but I am by no means experienced when using the BIOS. The other option is the sticks are dead, this doesn't seem likely as the odds of both being DOA seems pretty low. Any help would be great, thanks.

I just bought Just Cause 3 on steam and I'm having some performance issues. I realize the game just came out and it will properly get performance updates later down the road anyway. I'm just wondering if I increase my ram from (1x) 4gb to (2x) 8gb will there be an improvement in performance because I'm currently running the game in 1920x1200 withALL the settings turned down (including anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering turned off) and I'm getting around 30fps which I'm ok with but then it suddenly drops down to 1-5 and starts to studder. At the moment the GPU and CPU usage sits around 50-60% and the ram is at a constant 90% usage. BTW I went crazy with steam sales and bought Watch Dogs, GTA V, Fallout 4, Tomb Raider 2013, Hitman Absolution, Wolfenstein - The New Order, Sniper Elite 3, Black Mesa, Metro last light and 2033 and Gary's Mod. All these games run smoothly without anyway stuttering or frame drops at high to ultra settings with anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering turned on. I think Just Cause 3 must just be a heavy ram user. And I run two monitors at all times with one playing light games and another running a video. But when I disconnected the second one to test it there was no increase in performance. Do you guys think I need to buy myself more ram or is it just a problem with Just Cause 3? My System Specs are: - Intel Core i5 3470 - Nividia GTX 950 - One stick of 4gb 1333 ram (Don't know manufacturer) - 3tb game boot WD green hdd - Main Display - Benq V400W - Second Display - Samsung 2243bw Thankyou and have a good day, TheOneWhoKnocks.
