Im going to build a pc but i'm wondering is the ram compatible with the motherboard. The motherboard i would be using is the "asus tuf gaming b650-plus" and i would want to use the kingston fury beast ddr5 rgb (KF560C36BBEAK2-32) but its not listed on the asus compatibility list. But the non rgb version of that ram (KF560C36BBEK2-32) is listed. Can i use it without problems or should i use other sticks of ram?

Hi everyone, I'm researching a new build, and have ran into the following issue - beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 3 and G.skill Trident Z compatibility. The ddr4 modules have a height of 44mm and the cpu cooler has 34.9mm clearance below the front fan and 39mm clearance below the heatsink (http://www.bequiet.com/volumes/PDM/_products/bk019/bk019_dim_en.pdf). Judging by the figures above, they should not fit. However, I found multiple builds on pcpartpicker where the TridentZ ram has exactly enough height below the cpu cooler (http://pcpartpicker.com/b/T4zMnQ) My question is the following: is there a height difference between ram slots and the cpu socket? How could 44mm high ram modules fit under a cpu cooler that has a maximum of 39mm clearance? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

I am building a PC for video editing on a budget. I have done some research both in the community and outside, and think Ryzen 5 1600 would be a good value for money given my use case and budget. I was also considering a B350 motherboard and was thinking of working my way up from my motherboard choice to figure out the RAM from the motherboard's memory support list. I have heard of dual channel DDR4 to fit in Ryzen builds, I am aiming for 8GB in total. I know that may not be enough but would definitely try for 16GB if the budget permits. I am a novice and would really appreciate your help to figure out the build for my use case. It would be really helpful if you could comment on if I am getting anything wrong or where I should improve ?

Hello everyone. I'm planning on building this PC in October but i have a couple questions regarding the RAM. Here's the parts list: AMD R5 1500x or 1600 MSI B350 PC MATE G.SKILL AEGIS 1X8GB @3000MHz(F4-3000C16S-8GISB) SEAGATE 1TB HDD SANDISK SSDPLUS 120GB SSD CORSAIR CX550M I haven't decided on the case yet, and i'm planning on getting a used GTX 970 or a RX 570 if the prices go back to normal by then. So i decided to go with a 1x8GB stick of 3000MHz since I've heard that Ryzen likes fast ram, and because I'm planning to upgrade to 16GB at some point in the future. In the motherboards manual it states this about memory ( ) and in MSI's website, in the motherboard compatibility section, it says that it has support for the 16GB and 32GB kit of this particular ram, but not for the 8GB( ) that I want. My question is should I get it anyway and get another 8GB stick in the future as i was planning to or are there going to be incompatibilities? Should i get a 2x4GB kit now and one later for quad channel or will it not be supported by the motherboard again since it states "Dual channel memory architecture". Feel free to suggest me other options that you think are better. P.S. In my current system (H97 Gaming 3, HyperX Savage 2x4GB @1866mhz) I didn't select the memory from the compatibility list and it ran just fine @1600mhz because of no support for XMP.

Hello, I'm currently collecting parts for my first PC build (parts linked down below) but i'm having an issue regarding motherboard-ram compatibility. I'm planning to buy the following motherboard: https://www.coolblue.be/en/product/817340/gigabyte-b450m-ds3h.html According to the website this MOBO has "Support for DDR4 3200(O.C.)/2933/2667/2400/2133 MHz memory modules". (https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/B450M-DS3H-rev-10#sp) When i asked a question regarding ram compatibility someone linked me the following excel sheet: http://download.gigabyte.cn/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_b450m-ds3h_pinnacle.pdf This does show compatibility with 3000 mHz even tho its not in the list on website (but almost all the ram i find online isnt compatible with the board). Can someone help me out to find a definitive answer to my compatibility issue, i was initially looking at the following 3200 mHz ram but it isnt compatible acocridng to the excel file: (https://www.coolblue.be/en/product/770438/corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-dimm-ddr4-3200-16-2x-8gb.html) If there are any comments on how to improve the build (mainly make it cheaper) then its always welcome PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor €175.99 Motherboard Gigabyte - B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard €79.00 Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory €149.00 Storage Samsung - 970 Evo 250 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive €86.00 Storage Seagate - BarraCuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive €48.95 @ Bytes At Work Video Card Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB GAMING OC Video Card €379.00 Case NZXT - H500 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case €79.90 @ Paradigit Power Supply Cooler Master - MWE Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply €70.00 Operating System Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit €117.95 @ Bytes At Work Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total €1185.79 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-02-28 18:32 CET+0100

I am heavily considering a build with the MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC, Ryzen 2600 and a Sapphire Nitro+. I was recently cross checking my favorite RAM on pc part picker with the approval memory listed on MSI's website. Needless to say some of the ram I was looking to purchase isn't listed on the MSI website. Should I be worried????

I've been using 1 stick of ram for some time it's the ADATA 8GB 3000MHz XPG Z1 Gold CL16 I could find an identical one anywhere but I wanted to have 16 gb in dual channel, so I bought G.Skill Aegis, DDR4, 8 GB,3000MHz, CL16 and it doesn't work, ram is in correct slots, 2nd and 4th, and it only shows 8GB in the system, it says that 8GB is reserved by the hardware, and when I use frequency higher than 1067mhz, it boot loops

Hello guys! I bought a PC 5 years ago. Recently my PC started to give me bugs and problems and now I need to upgrade (and btw my CPU died yesterday). Before it was a AMD radeon 770 HD series GPU, MSI FM2-A75MA-P33 motherboard and some kind of athlon 4 core 3.2 GHz CPU (don't remember which one exactly because it's already in my trash can). I have already swapped GPU and PSU. I got GTX 1050 4GB TI GPU and SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze EVO Edition 520W ATX12V v2.3 PSU. For storage I have Samsung 850 evo 250gb and some kind of 1TB HDD (doesn't matter). Everything else I need to change (CPU, RAM, Motherboard). I was thinking about getting the Ryzen 5 CPU (still can't decide between 1600X, 2600 and 2600X, but im leaning more towards 2600X), GIGABYTE AB350M-GAMING 3 motherboard and G.SKILL RIPJAWSV 32GB 3200MHZ DDR4 CL16 DIMM KIT OF 2 F4-3200C16D-32GVK RAM. I was looking at PATRIOT VIPER 4 16GB 3000MHZ DDR4 CL16 KIT OF 2 PV416G300C6K. I don't care how much RAM memory i get for now but i know i'll want to upgrade later to 32GB. What are your thoughts if I go for Ryzen 5 2600X with that G.SKILL RAM? Or there are some better options in your thoughts. I don't want to spend too much money but at the same time i'd rather pay a bit exrtra so I wont get any unnecessary surprises later. With this upgrade I'm hoping to last at least 4 next years. Hopefully long time PC builder enthusiasts aren't getting a heart attack looking at my theoretical build. P.S. Sorry for typos if there are any. English was only my 3rd language i have learned. P.S.S. Everyone have a nice day!

Been trying to build a system for a long time, and the RAM prices have finally got me. Has ANYONE got this RAM kit working at the rated speed on the Asus b350 Prime Plus Motherboard on its latest BIOS update? https://www.newegg.com/global/ae/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820236039&ignorebbr=1 CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model CMK16GX4M2B3000C15W. I am aware of the other RAM kits by corsair which are compatible, but this the cheapest and I am REALLY tight on the budget.

Hello everyone, I am upgrading my friend's PC he wants every slot in his motherboard filled in! So he has already 32GB of memory (this one: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M2A2400C14) the timings on these ones are 14-16-16-31. We found him on eBay the same memory (Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M2A2400C16) but with slightly different timings: 16-16-16-39 The question is if I order him this ram pair will it work smoothly with his existing one together? And is the XMP profile the same for all of them or I will have to create a new overclocking (2400) profile to match them all? "I know it is more than enough of RAM, but some people like my friend wants best of the best". The speed, brand and size of the RAMs are the same. Thanks a lot for tips and advices.

How do I test RAM compatibility? HELP
LeandroMLopes posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi, guys! I'm meeting with a guy that's selling a DDR4 that seems to be compatible with my laptop (it has the exact same specs, apparently as the one it came with) on the equivalent of craigslist in my country. I'm taking my laptop and will test the stick to see if it works! Can you guys recommend any piece of software that is reliable in assessing the RAMs compatibility? Will the Windows Memory Diagnostic suffice? Or should I try something else? Thanks a lot!!- 11 replies

Hello If there is a laptop with 1 16gb-ram stick (dddr4) in it. Is it okay to buy any other dddr4 16gb ram stick (which is compatible with the laptop) and place it in the other empty ram slot so that I have dual channel 32 gb ram? The laptop I am interested in is msi gx63vr which comes with 1 16gb-ram stick and I have read reviews that this bottlenecks the core i7-7700hq. I do not know the ram manufacturer for this laptop. I went to crucial and it said BALLISTIX sport 16 gb (1*16) is compatible with msi-ge63vr which is apparently the same as msi-gx63vr. Can I add this ram (BALLISTIX sport 16 gb) in the empty slot along with the other ram whose manufacturer I do not know? Or should I get BALLISTIX sport 16 gb (2*8) and remove the memory inside the laptop and place these 2 memory modules (the ballistix ones) instead to get dual channel 16gb ram ? The reason why I want to add another ram-stick is listed on this page; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=295738.0

Hi all So this is going to be my first build, I'll use it mostly to game (4K in the future) with but I'll also do some photo and video editing. System CPU - 4790K Motherboard - Asus Maximus Formula VII RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2400 2x8GB - CMY16GX3M2A2400C11A GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 OC Windforce - I'll add another later PSU - EVGA 850 G2 - overkill I gather but I want to have more juice up my sleeve HDD's - Crucial MX200 250GB - OS and Game storage - Crucial M4 512GB - Quick storage for large Vid files I deal with (I had this for a Blackmagic Hyperdrive that I don't use, so it's going in the rig now) - WD Black 3T x 2 - for long term storage of photo's, video, etc. I may RAID them and will probably add more later Case - Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, white Monitor - HD at the moment but will upgrade to 4K or a 3440x1440 when I have more $ Cable mods cables red, because they're super cool Cooling - Water? Air? suggestions please So I bought my motherboard and RAM online at the same time and didn't realise that there is a list of compatible RAM configs for the motherboard and my sticks aren't on it. What would happen if I use them in the build, I've not had the time to start building it yet so haven't tried it out to see if it they would work. Partpicker seems to think they are compatible but I want some real person advice. Cooling - I'd really love to build a hardline water loop just because they are so damn cool but is it really going to be worth it for me? I'm not intending on OC the system for a while if ever so I'm pretty sure it's way over kill. Any suggestions would be great.

I am doing my first build tomorrow to replace my current +8 year old PC. I got all the components today. However, unexpectedly, what confused me the most was choosing the RAM. I just want to make sure the following components are compatible: 8GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX Performance KHX24C11T3K2/8X (2X4G, 2400) http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/ram/1300954/kingston-hyper-x-performance-khx24c11t3k2-8x MSI H87m-G43 http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H87MG43.html#hero-overview Corei7 4770 (without K) My main concern is that 2400 RAM is not compatible with the motherboard and the CPU I got. The more I read, the more contused I get. I understand the compatibility has to with the motherboard as well as the CPU. I have also read that this memory only works with motherboards that support XMP. I checked the specification of my motherboard and there is no mention of XMP. However, it does mention in the manual that it supports 2400 (OC) but my CPU is not meant for overclocking. I wasn't going to get 2400 RAM; however, surprisingly, I could not find a dual kit other than this one. (Not everything is easily available where I live and I can't shop online as shipping is expensive) Maybe I should have gotten a single 8GB 1600 stick? But isn't dual better? Sorry, if my post sounds a bit dumb but I've been distant from the hardware world for quite some time now. Please bare in mind that I am not building a gaming PC. However, I may consider getting a GPU in a year but not at this point. Here's what I got: Case: Corsair 350D CPU: Core i7 4770 MB: MSI H87m-G43 SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB RAM: 8GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX Performance KHX24C11T3K2/8X (2X4G, 2400) PWS: Corsair CX500 Feel free to make any recommendation as it is not too late to exchange these components.
