Hi, Im currently running an R5 3600 cpu, RX 6800 gpu, 3440x1440 ultrawide screen, and 32GB 3200Hz ram 16CL. Do mainly racing games like ACC, LMU and AMS2. Is upgrading my cpu to R7 5800x3d really making a big difference? After many hours scouring several sources, I'm still not convinced that the difference will be remarkable. Between 10% and 20% increase in fps doesn't seem much. Appreciate your thoughts and experiences on this. TIA

hello, i need to upgrade my cpu, i'm currently running a r5 3600, which does his work buy i need to change it, the only problem is the mobo, as u can see by my pc (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GJs9Fs) i'm currently running a gigabyte b450m ds3h, i want to switch to a r7 5800x3d or a similar cpu (same gaming performance), my budget is max 300€/310€, if u think mobo could't run that cpu please suggest a good combo (cpu+mobo) i should buy for the same price. thanks

Hi everyone, been a long time since I posted anything here. First of all my PC specs: AtomicHood - Saved Part Lists - PCPartPicker This is my first PC build. I'm very satisfied with my choices but I still haven't got a new GPU. I have around 300 USD saved up and was planning to save more and buy a GPU around Christmas. Planning being the key word. I'm okay with the bottleneck and can wait before playing newer games but my GPU is straight up messing with me. First of all, this old XFX R7 250 1GB stopped getting driver support and I currently have the 21.5.2 driver version installed. Windows 10 is all up to date. Last week I noticed my PC restarted when idling. I panicked of course and when it booted up again I saw a message that Radeon Wattman settings have been restored due to system failure. I checked Event Viewer and the error is: Event ID - 41, Source - Kernel Power. At first I thought it was a one-off but it happened a few times more during the following days. Today I ran OCCT CPU, Memory, 3D, VRAM and POWER tests each for half an hour and no errors came up. Then another peculiar thing happened. When starting a game it crashed and AMD Report Wizard said a driver timeout has happened. I tried searching for why that is but couldn't find anything concrete. I also tried downclocking both the GPU Clock Speed and VRAM Clock Speed for 100 MHz but to no avail. I also downgraded the drivers but for some reason the games just black screen and don't even work. TLDR: My GPU is giving me problems with my new build. I know its old but I wanted it to last for a bit longer. Should I troubleshoot more or buy a new GPU? Also sidenote, in the OCCT POWER test my CPU temp was max. 75 °C and my GPU temp was max. 65 °C. The CPU seems fine to me, maybe a bit high I don't really know, but since the fan speed for my GPU read out like 750000 RPM I'm not sure how accurate the GPU results were. That is all, thank you.

I bought a tray type Ryzen 5 3600. I spent a day figuring profiles for CTR and saved it and reboot to see if it works. Everytime the OS is loaded I check with HWinfo64 that the max voltage spikes around 1.413V - 1.419V and even as high as 1.43V. I believe this is the Stock Ryzen behavior as it does this once the programs load and even when I launch Task Manager. And CTR does not kick in to effect until it loads, if I reset the HWinfo as CTR loads I will not see the spike anymore. Is there a chance this early spike will cause trouble in the long run? Also with the new voltage peak of 1.35V all core, some say its within safe parameters while others say 1.325V is the safe limit for Ryzen 3000. Is it also unsafe?

Hey, As the title states, I've recently been playing Battlefield 5 on an I7 6700k, 1660 ti and 16gb of ram however I realized that it runs pretty badly. I've been thinking of switching my 6700k for an r5 3600 and possibly my 1660ti to an rx 5700 xt. Would this be worth the switch? Any motherboard suggestions would also be appreciated. Btw my reason to switch is not only to play battlefield v, I mainly just want a performance upgrade on all my games. Thanks!

FIRST EVER BUILD! Please be gentle. Mobo: MSI b450m Gaming plus CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Psu: Thermaltake 550w 80+ BR Gpu: MSI GTX 1660S Gaming X RAM: Corsair LPX 32Gb 2666 CPUcooler: Arctic cooling esport 34 duo I had a problem with the initial cpu I had purchased which hit oddly high idle temps of high to mid 60s and the kicker of 96c as I landed on the ground on Apex Legends which resulted in the computer crashing and restarting. Exchanged for a new one that has far better temps (well, with the addition of the cooler). With the cooler cpu I dabbled on overclocking which I quickly realized was a bit too complicated for me. I did a bit more research on the use of PBO and the addition of CPB (which can only be auto or disabled). Because of my fears of temps going too high again I’ve settled on everything pretty much set to auto with just a few little changes. Changes: “cool and quiet” - enabled “Core CPPC” - enabled “CPPC preferred cores” -enabled “Advanced C-State” -enabled Tweaking a bit further I’ve found that enabling PBO in bios decreased idle temps by 2-3c (37-40c) and when gaming (Apex, my tester since that initially crashed me) averaging temps around 55c occasionally going to a high of 60-65c but for only seconds. My question (finally) is that when I have PBO set on auto, the idle temps are a tad higher(41-43c) but when on apex it is steady, higher, temp of around 65-68c. I know it’s not much of a difference but with OBS enabled my cinibench score, gaming and idle temps are better. Can anyone explain why? I’m torn because I hear so much about PBO raising temps with not much benefit but in my case it’s the opposite. Are the things I’ve enabled oddly making it seem as if it’s performing better but in reality worse? If you’ve read through all this, thanks.. Again, I don’t really know much about building, bios, etc. Thanks in advance.

Hey LinusTechForums! Nice to meet you Back in 2015 ~ 2016 I built this build: CPU: i5 6400 Motherboard: H110M-DGS (Not quite this one, but very similar) Ram: 24 Gb 2133 Mhz GPU: GTX 950 Gigabyte OC, 2GB Case: InWin 301 Red Tempered Glass Premium Micro-ATX (Not quite this one, very similar but the one I got is discontinued) Storage: 1TB WD 3.5 HDD, AND NOOO SSD!!! I spent around 1000$ CAD for this build. To make matters worse, I bent the cpu socket pins! I re-bent them and then it worked (I bent like 20 of them, but when I fixed it, everything worked!). So now four years later, I'm having a hard time running games like Warzone. So, I really fucked up. To redeem myself, I wanted to make a really good build that focused on price to performance. I wasn't too picky, but I feel like I have improved my building skills. Here it is: Case: Thermaltake V21 Micro ATX Case (Modular! Super nice!) https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/gp/product/B00PDDMN6S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 RAM: 16GB XPG 3600 Mhz https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/gp/product/B07YZTJS56/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Storage: 500 Gb WD M.2 SSD, + my old 1TB HDD https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/gp/product/B073SBX6TY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 CPU: Ryzen R5 3600 GPU: AMD RX 580 GB Motherboard: ASRock B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M Pro4/index.asp AIO: https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/NZXT-Kraken-Kraken-M22-120mm/dp/B079JF6NDC/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_fr_CA=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=nzxt+kraken+single+fan&qid=1587442158&sr=8-1 I left the PSU out because I am using the same 650W Power supply for both builds, it's Gold rated and it does the job. The new build costs me ~ 750$ CAD. Talk about saving a lot of money for a waaayyyy better gaming experience right?! The biggest thing will be having an SSD, it will be crazy! By the way, if you're wondering why I did not get a better graphics card it's because I don't really care about graphically intensive games all that much, I play a lot of Supreme Commander and my processor was holding me back so the GPU upgrade was just a luxury. What do you guys think?

I'm combining the R5 3600 (Not OC'ing) with the Cryorig H7 cooler but I've heard some Ryzen users have had issues with the shape of the H7's contact plate not being flat enough for Ryzen's IHS and causing temperature issues. I also see others using the same cooler on ryzen CPUs with no issues at all. IF I do have issues I'll probably try lapping the base of the CPU cooler to flatten it, but I just wanted to know how widespread this problem is?

Hello, I build my new PC about 3 weeks ago (specs listed below). I have been experiencing black screens and BSoDs quite often while doing just about anything on my PC. Also I got an artifact today while opening the League of Legends client - this is the only artifact I have seen thus far. Everything is stock, and I have tried numerous things to try and solve the problem. I tried updating my BIOS, reinstalling windows entirely, re-installing drivers using DDU, resetting all my BIOs settings, making sure my bios PCI were set to gen 3, and down-clocking my memory to 2666 MHz. I ran a GPU stress test for 30 mins and the temps never topped 85c. I ran a memory stability test for an hour using HCI memtest, and no issues were found. The specific blue screen code is VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR. Here is the link to the dump files and Performance Monitor Report: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_5jwGZ8CHB1uS6HM2FbpkuMUoIFkcnfe/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uUBeEmiakOgdZTPL0YnQN36K9LLixbSP/view?usp=sharing The black screens that I get sometimes last for a couple seconds. Other times the screen goes black, my monitor loses input, media stops playing, and I need to restart my PC. I looked at the windows reliability report to see if it had picked it up, and it did. Here are some screenshots (ironically I got a BSoD while I was putting these together ?), these were from yesterday: Black Screen Crash Other Black Screen Crash VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR BSoD Here is the full reliability history: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hjZbl_SUio1GlyK7lwcXbhblul3hDJA9/view?usp=sharing Also, starting from yesterday, my cursor has been lagging around when I first boot my computer. When I open chrome or another application, then the lagging stops. I believe it has something to do with GPU utilization, but other than that I have no idea what could cause this... maybe someone has an explanation. Thank you in advance! Some Information: x64 Windows, full retail version Last installed Windows 2 weeks ago RYZEN 5 3600 Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 MSI B450 TOMAHAWK (I got this from micro center, on the box it said it was ready for Ryzen 3000 series) Corsair TXM Gold 550 W GPU Driver Version: 19.9.2 RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16 GB DDR4-3000 (BLS2K8G4D30AESBK) SSD: Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME MONITOR: Acer SB230 75 Hz

I'm thinking about upgrading my rig from its Ryzen 5 1400 to a Ryzen 5 2600, but, I don't know if I should wait until Q2 for the new 3rd gen Ryzen SKUs to hit the shelves. I'm going to be mainly gaming with it, with a RX 580 8GB. Furthermore, would it be better to keep the R5 1400 and upgrade to the GTX 1660 when it's released? Thank you in advance.

Its been a long time since I have built a gaming system. A lot has changed. My last system was a 1055T with a 480 and an 8800 for physx. I would be doing what I consider some light gaming, maybe some fort, wow possibly again, some of the major FPS titles but nothing for lengthy extended periods of time like I used to. Fold on the side again. Wondering thoughts on my parts list. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/blueduck3285/saved/Xcp3bv I have a keyboard and mouse from my gaming days and a 2T HD with all my titles still installed but may pick up two new 2T HD's in raid. Monitor I am still on the fence about as I like budget but still want a decent monitor for under 250 or even less if such a thing is possible, widescreen with 1ms. There is just soo much to learn. I made sure to source samsung b die mem dims with decent latency especially with this new fangled infinity fabric!?! Man have things changed. So Am4 socket was promised to last until the end of next year, with Ryzen 4000 series be the last gen Ryzen supported. But I don’t think I can wait until 2 more years to upgrade my poor Q9550... (not like it is dying, but hate to see it gets pinned to 100% from time to time... plus the game I play I will end up GPU setting around 70-80%, and you can imagine how much other bottles neck exists in my system...) What I do: games at 60 FPS at 1080/1440p (The most modern game I play is Ace Combat 7, I might pick up some racing games, and Elder Scrolls 6 when it comes out), not steaming or rendering anything at all (may consider one day trying those) I decided to go with a B450 MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AC mobo with 2x8G DDR4-3200 sticks However I couldn’t find a perfect combo with R5 3600 from a trusted vender. My options are spend a bit more ($24.6) buying from a 3rd party vender, or settle with a R5 2600X from a reputable-Amazon-like retailer for now. (FYI not buying CPU combo is stupidly expensive here , a R5 3600 Retails $232.6 here and used Ryzen 3600 is hard to find... like duhh it is a 3 month old processor) I will wait for a while to see if the 3600 will come down a bit more, but lot of retailers are putting up “30-day lowest price guarantee” signs already. For now I am inclined to get the R5 2600x ($304 with the mobo). Of course B450 Tomahawk MAX with R5 3600 is $14 cheaper (from the same reputable retailer), but I don’t want to put up with the limited Rear I/O USB ports and mediocre Audio/Network equipment on the Tomahawk... (Plus, the Gaming Pro Carbon have better power delivery options with 8+4 pin which makes me think I might able to upgrade the CPU in the future and held on to AM4 a bit longer, by stick a top of line R9 or even 4000 series chip in it.) What is your suggestion? Should I bite the bullet go with the 3rd party vender? or 2600X would be more than enough for my use case?

Well it me again trying to pick out a motherboard out of the over saturated B450-X470 market So let's cut to the chase, I am looking for a Ryzen B450-X470 to game on to retire my Q9550/P45 board Now I don't overclock much but I do intend to swap in a better CPU in future (maybe a 4th gen or even a 5th gen Ryzen if they are supported). Currently I have a GTX 970, and not planning to swap it out until at least 2021. I don't need Wifi, but want Bluetooth (I do have a BT4.0 dongle at the moment) I will need 4 USB 2.0 (not counting 1 more USB for the BT if the board does not come with that) with 1 spare to plug in my back up external hard drive. USB -C/ 3.1 gen 2 is not that important to me but certainly nice to have. My budget range is $430 for Mobo,CPU,RAM combo RAM is the easy part, they are the same price ($100) and same spec, but do let me know which brand you recommend All DDR4 3200 2x8GB CL16 kits with RGB 1. Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2. G.skill TridentZ RGB 3. Kingston / HyperX Predator Now for the hard part, as you can see my budget now have $330 remaining, I had found few combos, two are better CPU with worse Mobo, and two are better Mobo with lesser CPU... not sure which one I should go for, however I lean to Auros due to their styling (in order of preference, but 1,2,3 are really close ) Also, I do have a hyper T4 cooler (awkward orientation in case with AM4 socket..) so I do have the incentive getting a better cooler/CPU in few month time. 1. $321.3 B450 AORUS PRO WiFi + R5 3600 Pros: Like the board's appearance, network, audio, integrated I/O... Cons: You probably know the "bad VRM issue", some youtuber encoutered heating issues, while others didn't. I do use air cooling and not planning OC it right away, but might be something will stop me dropping a later gen R7 onto this board... Oh and I probably need to flash the BIOS right away to get the 3rd gen Ryzen in 2. $342.7 X470 AORUS Ultra Gaming + R7 2700 Pros: RGB, have network, audio,... the lack of WIFI is fine since I get 2 more USB ports vs the B450 Aorus, on the same LTT motherboard tier as the MSI gaming pro. Cons: Just a little bit over my budget... I probably can get away with this, 15 bucks worth 2-3 lunches here. R7 2700 perform 10% worse than any of the other CPUs here... and not sure if it has the same VRM issue with B450 but they do look a lot similar... 3. $278.5 B450 MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AC +R5 3500X Pros: RGB, best WiFi, better network/audio compare to the Tomahawk, integrated I/O... BEST VALUE ??? Cons: I don't like the "Gaming Pro" branding on the VRM heat sink, It has less USB 3.0 My region can get the R5 3500x, it only have 6c/6t instead 3600's 6c/12t, however since I don't stream/render at the moment so the 3500X shouldn't be that much of a issue? and again, I might need to flash BIOS Right away w/o a CPU) 4.$292.8 B450 MSI Tomahawk MAX + R5 3600 Pros: Seems even one recommend it? MAX version have bigger bios chips and probably out of box R5 3600 support Cons: Worst AudioNetwork I plug everything into the rear I/O I only get 0 spare USB 3.1... only sparing the Type C... (I do have a PCI-e 1x to USB 3.0 Add-in card) Somewhere I saw it performed worse comparing to Aorus Pro without OC the R5, that RGB strip is not in the best place in my case (will be right around where my Bluray drive and hot swap HDD bay is...) If MSI Pro Carbon doesn't have the "Gaming Pro" branding I might already went with that, but I am not sure how much of a downgrade is R5 3500x, I don't steam now doesn't mean I won't try streaming/rendering in the future... So what are your thoughts?

So I recently upgraded from a i5 3570k to a ryzen 5 3600. I have basically been waiting for the Ryzen 3000 series to come out. Boy I am happy with this upgrade everything is just better now. I have been playing a little bit at first with some bad turnouts and good turnouts, just messing around. Ran it one month on default and now I am playing a little bit again. With some interesting results. Looks like things are working out pretty good or am I missing something? After 20 minutes of Aida 64 (see image). All cores on 4200 and 1.325v Don't look at the max volt, it is from before I applied the new settings. I am using Ryzen Master because it is way more convenient than the Bios of my motherboard and just nice to mess around on the fly. Talking about my motherboard, this is my complete setup: -Asrock B450M Pro4 -Ryzen 5 3600 -Scythe Mugen 5 pcgh edition (great! As you can see average 834 rpm, the included fans do max a little bit above 900 rpm, I believe this cooler has much more potential than achieved here) -2x8GB corsair vengeance lpx 3200 C16 (having major issues here, xmp profile just doesn't work, still have to solve this problem) -RTX 2060 MSI Ventus (not recommended at all! Does the job but surely not in an elegant way) -2 SSD's (2x500GB) (an NVME will be coming one day) -2 HDD's (2TB and 4 TB) -Fractal Design Mini or something case -4 case fans (all case fans are running on the lowest speed, I don't know the rpm, they are controlled with el cheapo fan controller in the 5" bay) -Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750W (last but not least, probably the best part of my whole rig, a little bit overkill, but I really didn't want to be limited by my PSU the next 10 years ?) So my questions are, what do you think of this stage of my PC-evolution? Is my "overclock" any good? Seems a little bit to good to be true. Does anyone have any experience with this motherboard and RAM combination? Right now running at 3200mhz, but timings are ?.

Hey, I am upgrading my friends PC - which is currently: R3 1200 asus prime b350m-a 8gb 2400mhz ram RX Vega 56 And plan on upgrading cpu and ram. The question is, what cpu should i choose. the two choices are: R7 2700 for 170$ or R5 3600 for 233$ the PC will be mainly used for pc games - and I know, that 3600 is basicly the best right now, but is it really worth 60$? wouldnt be better to buy 2700 and maybe upgrade ram to 16gbs 3000mhz? Thanks for tips ^^
