Due to Linus's most recent video I'm now confused about what RAM & CPU I'll get for my new first build. I had previously picked out an R5 1500X & 2x8GB DDR4 3200 with 14 latency, prices of those kits ranging from $155-$187. Now I'm wondering if I should just go with 2133Mhz instead & get a better CPU such as a 1600. 2 more cores won't really benefit me either though for what I do, RuneScape, Light Video Editing, Multitasking (8 or less FireFox Tabs while gaming & video editing). So please everyone help me decided lol, I know in the video I'll link below he specifically compared 2133 to 3600 so I'm unsure if his CPU upgrading advice still applies to 3200. I want this PC to be the best it can be for the price but I also know that Ryzen does favor higher frequency RAM. So I'm worried that by going for more cores vs frequency I might see a bigger overall performance defecate regarding what I do. Unfortunately I have no idea if the things I do is even dramatically effected by RAM speed, for video editing I use OBS Studio & Hitfilm 4 Express. On a final note, I do prefer reliability over speed so let that be a factor in advising me on what to go with. For reference sake, let's just say my CPU & RAM budget is $365.00 or less.

I have narrowed down my upgrade path to either a 1500x or a 7500. Both seem good for my needs, but i only have 2666mhz ram, so im wondering if it will perform reasonably with my rx 470. If it performs better/the same or slighly worse its ok, as i would like those extra threads. but if it performs substantially worse, i will get the i5 as gaming takes priority I have a kabylake mobo which i would sell for ryzen b350. which b350 board for ~80 is best?

Budget & Location Indonesia, where it is kinda the typical place where you have high taxes so new parts aren't considered around Rp 10.000.000 / $800 2. Aim Virtualization Machine, and Gaming Machine Simulation Games at 1080p 3. Monitors Samsung FHD Curved TV, will probably get LG 27MP59-G for $260 later on 4. Peripherals Just a G403/402 Mouse and G213 Prodigy Keyboard (#Logitechfanboy) 5. Why i am upgrading? My current System is 1. Core 2 something CPU 2. Asus P5G41T-M LX 3. 350W OEM PSU 4. 1GB DDR3 RAM 5. 160GB HDD (will reuse this since it has an original Windows 7) 6. PixelView GF9400GT I can actually spend less by modding my current motherboard so it can fit a LGA 771 Xeon, but since my demand is Editing and Lightweight Gaming. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1500X GPU: MSI Radeon RX 580 Gaming X 4G, 4GB RAM: CRUCIAL DIMM 8GB, DDR4-2133 PSU: SEASONIC G-550W MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Prime A320M-K Sometimes at random moments while gaming my pc will just repeat the last seconds of audio output, my screen will scramble and show white lines. after that my pc stops outputting anything, no video no sound and doesnt take any input(my peripherals have leds and they turn off eg the capslock) and i have to force my PC to shutdown by pressing the power button. The moments when it crash dont seem like intense ones for my gpu either. Im on win 10. I am not OC. I have checked temperatures (fans spin) and no components go over 70C. I have fixed all corrupt win files using sfc and DISM. I have cleaned the pc a bit in case of dust. I have the pc for a year and it started doing this a month ago. I have checked for malware and i dont have any. when in windowed mode I can play bit longer. It happens for shadow of mordor and GTA if its in full screen. I have reseted my PC to no avail. I havent made any recent hardware changes. I used amd cleanup to get rid of all drivers and reinstalled them. I uses windows memory diagnostic and didnt get any hits. I havent switched out my ram or psu because i only have one of each. None of my CPU Cores are parked. What could be the cause of this or how can i find the cause of this?

Oke now i am so confused... I have r5 1500x, GTX 680 (which i bought 2 days ago) and 8gb of ddr4 memory (2x4 gbs paired), and in MMO game ESO i cant get more then 40 fps in combat..Before i bought GTX 680 i had gtx 460 (1gb ddr5), and i had almost same FPS with GTX 460 as i have now with GTX 680.. .. In other games i see huge difference between old and new gpu, but in Elder scrolls online (eso) i see 5-6 fps maybe more... Btw i play at 720p at medium textures,and everything else is LOW or off..... I have pretty old HDD tho, i think it is sata 2 (but 100% health and performance) but as far as i know HDD doesnt impact my fps... So CPU is fine i guess, GPU is much better then i had before(gtx460), ram is decent kingstone 2400mhz ddr4.. (my temps are good, and when im playing game, i see only 30-40% overall CPU usage, same is with my GPU usage, but still i have terible FPS......)

Tl;dr: My motherboard lights up, fans start spinning, GPU also lights up, but no display is given and also every single thing connected to the motherboard (mouse, keyboard, headphones) don't light up either and I don't know whether its a CPU problem or just RAM compatibility issues or even the motherboard thats dead (which is unlikely but still quite possible) Hello dear LTT community, I'll try to keep this as short but also as detailed as possible. I come from a rather poor country where our monthly salary is $200~300 per average so my current PC is a bit... out of my range, lets say. I've been saving up money for, a long time, and decided that now is a good time to invest, it was easter, there were discounts so why not. I went out and bought a GTX 1060 6GB, R5 1500X, ASUS B350 Prime Plus and 2x8GB of G.Skill Aegis. If you want full detail on specs, they'll be at the bottom of this thread. Okay so, I did everything as supposed to, no, its not my first PC, I've built around 10~15 PC's by now, so I have the hang of it since it's not watercooled or modded or anything special, and I plug it in. At first I thought that the GPU was the problem but its not since I am currently using my new GPU in my old build, and its working perfectly fine. I decided to put my new GPU back in my new rig, and see whether one of the PCI-E slots was dead, because neither of the monitors displayed a picture, but then I noticed that whenever I start my PC, all the fans and everything starts spinning, but the GPU doesn't give a picture, and also my keyboard, mouse and headphones don't light up (they're all RGB). So, my following questions are: A) Is it actually my motherboard thats dead? It lights up and the fans connected to it start spinning, so I don't think its entirely it B) Is it the CPU that's dead? C) Is it just RAM compatibility issues? I called the store where I bought my parts from to assist me but they simply told me "Bring the pc here, we have professionals to look at it, you're just a kid you probably don't know what you're doing" which actually kinda hurt, and right now im low on money so, yes, I am here to ask of the LTT community to help me out, because these guys charge around $30~50 IF none of the parts are swapped for better ones, yes, they charge that much for just "lending a hand". I don't know what else to write, since, well, I've no idea what's going on to be honest, never ran into an error thus far... Full specs (new and old PC) coming up: Motherboard: ASUS B350 Prime Plus CPU: R5 1500X Cooler: Stock RAM: G.Skill Aegis 3000MHz (It didn't say "ryzen compatible" or anything similar on the box so idk, might be a RAM issue, or even that the RAM slots are dead) GPU: GTX 1060 6GB PSU: Corsair CX750 (green one, bronze, should be sufficient enough) old pc parts are A10 6800k, ASUS A88X Gamer, 8GB of G.Skill ddr3 1866 ram and a GTX 760 Ti, same PSU. Before anyone bashes me or anything, here are a few things to note. I kept most of my old parts except for motherboard, cpu, gpu and ram. I work online and my salary isn't quite "monthly" since it can be late sometimes, like, really late, and also, I've no idea what can be wrong EVERYTHING I said as in "Maybe its ram" or "Maybe its CPU" is just guessing, not diagnosed, nothing. Well, I want a platform change, and AM4 seems a pretty great one to switch to. However, I am a SFF guy, so my mobo is ITX and the CPU cooler clearance is very low. This means that temps will be a big issue. My plan is to squeeze a Noctua NF-A9 on top of a Wraith Spire, as that seems like actually a very nice cooler setup. However, this limits my choices to the 1500X and 1600 (I definitely don't need a 1700). Now, I know what you're thinking: 1600, duh! Well, maybe, but again I am worried about heat dissipation and how much of an overclock I could even manage in my SFF case. I am thinking that perhaps a 1500X at a higher overclock will serve me better than a 1600 at a lower overclock. I don't do very many productivity tasks that would leverage the CPU a lot. I mostly do lighter gaming, content consumption, and schoolwork. So my question then stands: will I be able to achieve an appreciably better overclock on a 1500X vs a 1600 given the same temp headroom, and keeping in mind that that headroom is not very big? And even if the clocks would be similar, would the 1600 be worth it, given that I don't do thread-heavy tasks? Thanks a bunch guys, y'all are awesome.
