  1. Hey guys! I'm planning to upgrade my RAM to 64gb by combining two separate (2x16gb) G.Skill Trident Z kits, specifically the model below: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory (F4-3600C17D-32GTZR) Current system specs are: i9-9900k 4.9Ghz OC (H115i Pro 240mm AIO Liquid Cooler) MEG Z390 Godlike (Latest BIOS) Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 4x8GB DDR4 3000mhz 2x MSI RTX 2080ti Corsair AX1500i Is it okay if I combine 2 Trident Z kits to achieve the 64GB total? I've already researched about the QVL not being updated because there are too many RAM kits in the market, but I just wanted to read about your expert opinions if these will cause any issues? Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you for your time! Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!
  2. Hi guys, so i'm quite curious about if my motherboard isn't in the QVL list of the ram's website. I'm getting ASRock X570 STEEL LEGEND WIFI AX AM4 AMD X570 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard and the ram is G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin RGB DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16D-16GTZN, will it cause any problem?
  3. I built my PC back in January and have been enjoying it since. However, recently, I have been getting MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors while playing videogames. Like Apex Legends and Doom Eternal. I contacted Microsoft support and he took a look at me motherboards QVL and noticed my memory is not listed there. Motherboard: Aorus X570-I Pro Wifi Memory: F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC [32Gb 3600Mhz G.Skill tridentZ Neo] The motherboard QVL for my CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) doesnt have my memory listed. But the memory QVL does have my motherboard listed. So, I am running into these memory management blue screens quite often while playing games and was wondering if I really do need to buy some new ram. And if so, which comparable one would work best? i.e. a 2 stick 32GB 3600Mhz ram. Memory QVL Motherboard QVL
  4. So I'm picking parts for a PC that I'm building for my friend and I settled for a ryzen 3600 and an rx 5700 xt, which I'm going to install in either an Asus b450-f gaming or Msi b450 Tomahawk Max motherboard. My problem is that I don't know if these motherboards support 3600mhz ram for zen 2 CPUs. I checked their Qualified Vendors List and it says that it supports the memory I want (Corsair RGB 16GB, CMW16GX4M2C3600C18), but I've read in some forums that people haven't been able to make their systems run stabily with the same motherboards @3600mhz. Can anyone confirm that these b450 motherboards indeed support 3600mhz memory as the manufacturers state? I trouble with memory support in my old zen 1 PC and I don't want my friend to go through the same nightmare. [link to both motherboards QVL list] - https://imgur.com/gallery/y2M8FEX Thanks
  5. Hello guys, I am building a PC with 2080 super and 3700x on b450 tomahawk max, I was wondering which 3600mhz ram to buy, because the one I like is not on the QVL (QUALIFIED VENDORS LIST) and I am worried that there may be problems? Can you please help me??
  6. Greetings. First time speccing out parts in nine years. Last build / current system is on the 2600K. New build will be used for home workstation (graphic design / photo editing and retouching) and gaming. Applications will be Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Xd. Thinking about going with the Ryzen 5 3600 and an affordable B450 mobo in the form of an MSI B450-A PRO. I've checked the QVL for this mobo to look for compatible RAM, since I know how Ryzen loves fast RAM. However...I wanted to get a Crucial MX500 512GB SSD, but the QVL doesn't list it. How important is it for SSDs to be on QVL? I'm considering saving money by using my old PSU, but... How do I know if a PSU is still in good shape? I'm currently running a Corsair AX850 Gold. It had a seven-year warranty, which it's living way past that time frame.
  7. Hi all, I am very confused. I am looking at the MSI QVL for the board I am thinking of buying to find out which memory would go well with it. The board is the B450 Gaming plus Max (QVL: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-GAMING-PLUS-MAX#support-mem-19). I'm not sure I understand what the 1|2|4 Dimm stands for, does it mean if it only is checked for 1 and 2 Dimms that it won't work (at the reported speed) with 4 Dimms? I want to start of with 16GBs and then expand to 32 if needed (Blender and gaming, possible Unity) Also I am now looking at this GSkill Aegis set since it's relatively cheap, it's present in the QVL and, if I do understand the check-marks correctly, can be used with 4 modules. Is it worth spending about 25 euros more on 3200MHz RAM? Will be using it with a Ryzen 5 3600 to replace a 1231V3 with 16GB DDR3@1600MHz. Thanks
  8. here is the QVL list for the mobo I have: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty X399 Professional Gaming/index.us.asp#Memory this is the memory I chose: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820232416 so my memory is model number is: F4-3200C16D-32GTZSW this one is on the QVL list: F4-3200C16D-16GTZB it looks like the only difference is they tested the black one and not the white one so the white one should work right? its the same thing under the heat spreader right so color doesent matter?
  9. My old build is an fx 8350 with an asus m5a 97 le r2.0 with 4GB DDR 3 1866mhz * 2 of ram. I Checked my mobo's QVL that was supplied with the manual and the one online ,they're the same . When I checked for my RAM's part number in the qvl i could not find it and i have been using my PC for about 2 and 1/2 years now and no I have not seen any crash issues or stability issues with that RAM. Now I am sure that we all know that QVL's are not accurate and contains the part number of only those DIMM's that the vendor themselves have tested on their boards, but this does not indicate that the other DIMM's that were not mentioned in the list will not work with the motherboard. The problem seems to be a lack of communication beetween the ram vendors and the mobo vendors for example Kingston shows that certain DIMM's are compatible with Ryzen systems but Gigabyte does not have that part name is their QVL for their b 350 gaming 3 boards furthermore with the rise of AMD compatible certification on DIMM's of some vendors such as G.skill new builders may consider these DIMM's to be compatible with only AMD systems which is not true at all, Right?????? .Honestly The AMD compatible certification feels like the SLi and Crossfire compatible logo's some PSU vendors have on their boxes . I know most of our forum member's are experienced but hopefully this thread will serve as a guide to many new builders who are going through something similar to this.
  10. Well, pardon my asking such a rookie question, but I've got some problem with my memory kit& motherboard. 1st, motherboard is asrock b450m pro4, whereas memory is this one: Patriot Viper Elite Series 2800Mhz 2x4GB (PVE48G280C6KRD) I know the board does not list these rams on the QVL, but I wanted to buy the whole package in the same store, and they only had these in 2x4gb with reasonable speed. Browsing through reviews, I thought these would work well with 2933Mhz frequency @1,35V, but unfortunately not. The most I can get is 2666Mhz. Some additional details: Manual of MoBo clearly indicates, that rams must be installed in slots A2-B2, whereas I got the PC with rams installed in A1-B1. I tried moving them to A2-B2, but then, the pc would not even boot, nor even to UEFI. I moved them back to A1-B1, and been running them at 2666Mhz ever since. Is it possible, that fixing the proper placement issue would make it work? ie.: A2-B2, with 2933Mhz Cl16 timing, 1.35V. Or an UEFI update might help? (btw, is there any specific restriction that UEFI must be installed by version to version, not skipping right to the latest driver?) Any input would be good, unfortunately, I'm out of ideas for now. Anyone with the same board with "incorrectly" installed RAM-s? Anyone with the same model RAMs? Thanks in advance for the responses.
  11. Ok, first of, this is my first time on the forum and why is it super zoomed in... On a more important note, I have purchased the G.Skill Trident Z RGB f4-2400c15d-16gtzr - that is the exact model number. I want to buy the Asus ROG Strix B350-f as it ticks all of the boxes for me personally. Anyway, when I checked the QVL list I realised the memory wasn't on there. A little concerned I headed towards the Asus support page and directly asked if it was compatible. They just said that since it's not on the list they cannot confirm nor deny that it would work. So I go to Tom's hardware to ask something and the forum is broken, you sign in it instantly signs you out, so frustrating. On a final note, I ask here whether or not the RAM will work. I need to know this before I buy the motherboard because I've already bought the RAM.
  12. I am looking at three different Z370 motherboards, these are the AORUS Z370 Gaming 7 Mobo (240AIO Masterliquid lite included), Z370 PRIME A and STRIX Z370 E/F. I am looking at several different RAM, mainy the Dominator Platinum and LP 16gb kits at 3000 MHz and 16gb of trident Z RGB at either 3.2ghz or 3ghz. I am unable to find if any of these kits are incompatible with these boards. Any help is appreciated *Side Note* What are your thoughts on the motherboard choices and what is your opinion on the 240MM aio masterliquid lite from Coolermaster? Thank you for your time
  13. EDIT 11/JUN/17 - NONE OF THIS MATTERS ANYMORE. RYZEN HAS BEEN UPDATED, FOR THE MOST PART, WITH SUPPORT FOR HYNIX AND LOWER END SAMSUNG KITS, MAKING QVL USELESS. So, most Ryzen builds on here that I've seen are thrown together with the cheapest memory possible for that speed. I've even done this myself, so I can't exactly talk shit. But not all memory works with every system - it's very hit and miss. Some boards are NOT patched with the new IMC patch. Depending on when you read this, your board may have the patch and works fine with memory, but it may not. Here's how to find memory that has been validated by the OEM. Ryzen motherboards have a QVL (essentially a list of validated working memory kits). Every board should have one, but it may differ. Cheaper boards have worse QVLs from what I've seen. So for example, I want to make a build with the AsRock AB350 Fatal1ty Gaming K4. The 3200Mhz fancy G.Skill Ryzen kit is $180 and isn't on the QVL. Opening up the AsRock page for the board, you can go to the 'Support' tab and click on 'memory QVL' to display the QVL list. Scrolling down to Corsair, there is a 16GB 3000Mhz kit. Highlight the model number. Copying that into PCPartPicker's Memory category shows 4 kits with differing prices, with the cheapest being $110USD: This is just one example - there is loads of boards with differing QVLs and differing memory speed maximums. The goal of this guide is to give you a way to get cheaper Ryzen memory while making sure it works with your board and CPU fine. Hope this helped you - Droidbot EDIT 1: Obligatory reference to /r/AMD's RAM Kit list - you can expect up to 3200 MHz with Samsung B-Die, up to 2933 MHz with Samsung E-Die and the same as E-Die on Hynix kits.
  14. Just a quick question, is there any instances where a person who bought a ram kit that is not on the qvl does not work? Reason for asking is I am planning on building a Ryzen rig and some of the kits that are cheap at the moment in the market aren't listed in mobo's qvl's.
  15. Evening all, formerly TheTolsonator on the forums, but haven't been able to access that account (despite numerous attempts to contact mods and get it settled, but I digress) Recently sold my 4690k, ASUS Z97-A and 16GB of DDR3-1600 for a Ryzen 5 1600X, ASUS X-370-F Gaming and 16GB of memory. The story with the memory is complicated, but long story short, bought two 2x4GB kits from the QVL list and couldn't get them to run at the rated DDR4-3000 speed at all....endless boot loops and safe mode BIOS dumps. Anyway, returned those and bought a 2x8GB kit from Corsair (again from the QVL) with the part number (CMU16GX4M2C3000C15). Ran fine the first day and the following day I hit "GO LIVE" on a stream and blammo, black screen with the fans and lights still on. Figured the video driver crashed, but system was fully unresponsive (even to pings from my other computer). Nothing came of the power button or reset switch so I had to resort to flipping the power supply switch. Fast forward a few more days and things were okay, but twice today I've had the same thing happen, once while playing a game (Enter The Gungeon, no big draw there) and the other time was while unzipping the latest DDU and downloading the latest Nvidia driver for my GTX 1060. At the moment I've got a single 8GB DIMM from my fiance's computer in my system while she's using the 2x8GB kit to see if it happens in her syste-- Thank goodness for auto-saving web pages. The system crashed again. I'm guessing mainboard. Thoughts? 16. Hi guys, (this is my first post so my apologies if this has been covered previously on this forum) My motherboard Docs list QVL vendors for power supplies. Is this a do-or-die scenario or am I okay to stray from this list without getting into trouble? (I also would like to know the answer to this question in regards to Graphics Cards) Thanks for any and all info...and please be gentle! John
  17. OK so I'm building a ryzen 2600+ MSI b450 tomahawk. I looked up the QVL on MSI website and obviously, many 16gb 3200mhz kits which are available in the market aren't listed there. I wanted to know whether I need to refer to the qvl even for 2666/2667 MHz speeds. Because there are a few 2666 modules which aren't there in the qvl. So under/equal to what speed will a ram run at the rated speed even if its not listed in the qvl. Is it 2400 or is it 2666. Because both are non-oc speeds. Thank you and please reply.
  18. Hello! I started upgrading my PC approx November last year. At the beginning i knew some of the names of the different hardware inside the case, and absolutely nothing else about PC-building. By this time i have upgraded my old hard-disk to an SSD, and switched my old GTX 660 out with an GTX 1060 6gb. I have bought the Ryzen 5 1600 and the ASRock Taichi x370. These i haven't installed yet, because i still need new ram for the motherboard. That leads me to my first question: 1. What ram is best for the new MOBO, and should 2x8 gb be enough for the next 5 years or so? (I don't plan to overclock, and you should also know that i don't understand the QVL). I also need help with how to install all of this. I have been reading a lot on the net and think that the following plan is a safe bet (in the order written): - Save important personal files, and new hardware drivers on an external harddisk. - Physically install hardware in case - At first boot spam F12, and choose to boot from USB. - Restart and install windows. - Install new drivers. - Game whenever possible. Which leads me to my second question: 2. Is there anything, and I mean anything at all, that i am missing here? Please write a thorough description of how to install the new hardware safely and correctly, with drivers and software and everything. Feel free to assume that i am a complete idiot when it comes to computers, and therefore wouldn't benefit from anything remotely resembling a vague explanation. Thank you kindly in advance. :-)
  19. Well I just got my money for my new RAM to finish my AMD build but reliaze that the qvl list is gone from MSI's page. I looked for hours for it but I couldn't find it. Only thing I found was http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/MSI/MSI_B350M_Mortar/3937/Compatible_RAM but it looks a bit sketchy. From that site I got CRUCIAL Ballistix Elite 8GB 2666MHz (BLE8G4D26AFEA) wich look pretty good (price low; available in my country) Can you please confirm / post your RAM here if you have also B350M Mortar. (Sorry for grammar. I'm not from english-speaking country ) Thanks in advance.
  20. There have been TONS of posts about this topic literally everywhere! I do a lot of research before I make a post, let alone a post THIS saturated. But damn, am I at my limit. Why do Ryzen have such problems with the most COMMON Rams out there? A friend of mine have ordered the Asus Strix B350-F motherboard, and now we're in search for RAM. Damn this f***ing QVL. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/STRIX_B350-F_GAMING/ROG_STRIX_B350-F_GAMING_SummitCPUDDR4_DRAM_QVL20170520.pdf?_ga=2.36502057.845906361.1501414390-1428616915.1495995095 WHAT THE HELL are all those RAM vendors in this QVL??? Gloway?Avexir???? TEAM??? KLEVV?? PANRAM?!?!?!!? Most of these RAMs are not even available in my country, nor I have ever heard of them!! Where are the Trident Z? The Vengeance LED? Why won't Asus test those SUPER popular RAMs? I can't even find the LPX in there! I understand that this is post is on a funnier note than the typical posts, but PLEASE someone! I want a suggestion about common RAMs that you have tested or know that work on this Motherboard. LED is prefered, but it's not mandatory. Does the RAM HAVE to be on the QVL? Please guys, or I'm starting prescription pills. Edit: I found some LPX.
  21. i am building a pc and i was wondering , how important is to use ram from the qualified vendors list of the motherboard ? ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB Kit 2x8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL10 mobo: Asus H87-PRO Socket 1150 rest of my build mobo- Asus H87-PRO Socket 1150 cpu - Intel Core i7-4770 3.4 GHz Socket 1150 Box gpu- MSI GeForce GTX 660 OC TwinFrozr III 2GB DDR5 192-bit SSD Samsung 840 Basic Series 250GB HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA3 ram - Corsair Vengeance 16GB Kit 2x8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL10 psu - Seasonic G-550 550W cpu cooler hyper 212 evo case - arc midi fractal design
  22. Hey everyone! As what the title says, I was wondering if I should follow the QVL when building a PC? I'm a first-time PC builder planning to do a Ryzen 3 gaming PC and I'm quite aware that most RAM have compatibility problems with most AM4 motherboards (as of now, at least). Thanks in advance!
  23. Hi all, Building B350 mobo, looking between Gigabyte Gaming 1 Gigabyte Gaming 3 2 MSI Mate 3 MSI Tomahawk 4 MSI Tomahawk Artic 5 Looked at 2400 speed (part number shortened) Corsair M2A22400c16 for 116 USD 12345 Kingston Fury 424c15fbk2/16 for 116 USD 345 Kingston Fury 424c15fb2k2/16 for 128 USD 12 GSkill FlareX 2400C15D-16GFX for 120 USD 1 2666 G.Skill Rip V F4-2666c15d-16gvr for 115 usd 345 then looked at 3000, But when looking at the QVL each brand provide especially MSI, the Corsair 3000 is absent and I am asking whether if the QVL the manufacturers' release are the only RAM sticks able to be used in each mobo AS well as any good recommendations for compatible Ryzen RAM The budget for (16GB) (2x8) sticks between (2400 - 3000 speed): under 140USD, and including but not limited to Corsair, G.Skill, Crucial, Kingston Thanks a lot !!! https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-TOMAHAWK-ARCTIC.html#support-mem https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-TOMAHAWK.html#support-mem https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-PC-MATE.html#support-mem download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-ab350-gaming3.pdf download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-ab350-gaming3.pdf
  24. So I have a Ryzen 2700X with a ROG STRIX X470-F Gaming motherboard, and just recently checked the manufacturers QVL list for 2nd generation Ryzen CPUS to see what RAM it supports. The RAM I'm looking at, F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX was listed on there, however the timimgs on the QVL were listed as 18-22-22-42. Meanwhile the market, lists this RAM as 16-18-18-38? Does this mean, I can only achieve the specified timings on the QVL and that the market reference is not accurate for my motherboard? If this is the case, do yall think it's still worth getting? Or is the G.Skill Flare X 3200Mhz 14-14-14-34 a better pick?
