Hello everyone Sorry for my bad english. i am kinda new to mining. i am mining with my xeon x5670 @4.0 ghz and gtx 1060.. i am just mining with my 1060 since cpu mining is not an profitable. now the question is i am building a separate pc for mining.. my friend has an old q6600 pc.. now i am wondering can i use that and put a graphic card in it for gpu mining? i guess it should work because having a weaker cpu should not effect my gpu mining performance right? and it is good enough to run windows 10 . BTW i am using nice hash for mining.

Summary VEGA AS4161 : 64-bit High performance Quad core Microprocessor Quotes My thoughts Quad core, based on RISC-V, has Arduino Shield compatible board like ARIES v2.0 (more info here) what is not to like here? not much talk about it anywhere, I hope LTT picks it up and can promote this young venture so it can get some test samples out in the wild for more tinkerers. I got the task, of picking a laptop for one of my relatives. And since he doesn't even have enough of a clue to come up with wishes of what should the laptop have I'm doing that as well xP. I'm not that familiar with laptops tho so I'd need a bit of help finding something with things described below. So this are the must haves: - 17inch IPS display with FHD resolution or better - Quad Core like i7 6700HQ or at least Dual Core i7 7500U - a decent keyboard with illumination (backlit) - must be above 500€ and under 1000€ (~800$) - 8GB of RAM - a decent build quality - Windows 10 preloaded - 2usb ports with at least one being 3.0 - can be bought in Europe - quiet operation on office tasks (up to 50% cpu load) - bluetooth Nice to haves (laptops that include this list can have dual core i5 6200U or better): - decent speakers - touchscreen - option to flip the screen 360°C to use as a "tablet" ( "2in1") - 120GB SSD + HDD or 240 GB SSD - eThernet port - CD/DVD reader with read and write functionality - known brand with 2 year warranty - 5Ghz wifi - good trackpad *qwertz keyboard layout (localized for Slovenian) - this is rare but it would help a lot (i'll search for availability of suggestions in local stores) I found this one but it doesn't have a backlit keyboard or SSD. I think that about covers it. Thank you for your help in advance

I'm looking for a Quad-core (i5 or i7) laptop for around $1000 USD, it must have an optical drive (that can read blue ray, DVD's and CD's), have a greater than 16" Full HD screen with dedicated graphics and a 1TB HDD and 8GB-16GB or RAM. This is for a multipurpose Machine including audio production, minimal gaming (Not running crisis or anything, just things like KSP, CIV5 etc.) and I'm also doing Engineering So I'll be running CAD programmes on it. I realise a desktop would be better with a daily driver laptop, but it is a lot less convenient and I wouldn't get the use out of a desktop. Any suggestions would be lovely.

Hello to all. I'm saving up for a main overhaul of my MOBO, CPU, RAM and HDD/SSD. I've already Picked a SSD and HDD so I'm good there. However, Im stuck on the fo weather I should get a 4 or 6 Core CPU [Intel of coarse]. What I do is 3D Modeling granted I'm still a bit of an Amateur and do mostly Vehicle Modeling and some scenery but I would like to move onto Animation, Rigging, More Detailed Scenery, Photo Realism and really expanding my current list of Capabilities. I'm in College have been accepted to a University which has a specialization coarse in Game Art BS. So which should I get or which would be fine. I was looking for someone who would sell a new or if I had to used i7 3930K. Yes I do game as well. But here's some examples. There's a few but I think this gives you an Idea.

So I have been slowly pricing together a PC to replace my work computer (accountant stuff) and had the realization that I may be able to save some $$ and get a dual core w/ HT (Pentium G4560) instead of a locked I5 (i5-7500). Now, according to my boss I do want a quad core, since it will help a lot in some work tasks I normally do. But I am wondering will a Dual core w/ HT (4 threads) be comparable to some degree to a quad core (4 threads) when doing multi-core workloads or am I missing something?

Hello all. i got my hands on an early 2008 mac pro 3,1, and im considering installing a second quad core in it, taking it to 8 cores. in my research it seems to do so, i would want a second E5462 to stick in the machine, but what i also discovered is that the 2 processors need to be 'matched', which is what i dont quite understand. am i simply looking for an E5462 @2.8 GHz, and i also need to procure a heat sink, off ebay, or is there more to this than i know?

So I’ve been looking to buy the Razer Blade Stealth for daily driver as I like the looks, form factor and performance (at least for school oriented use). Recently razer just updated the site to include in the product description and choice tab to specify that the 13.3” model uses a dual-core processor. So I was wondering if you guys think this would be significant evidence that they are going to update to the newer 8th gen 8650u or 8550u processors. Especially given that they’ve had significant incentives added for the last month or two, it seems like they’re trying to either decrease their stock in prep for the update or just doing the regular razer thing of including a bunch of stuff with their products. Really looking for insight as I don’t want to have buyers remorse if they end up updating the model a week or two after I purchase a dual core model.

What do you think will perform 'better' in games, a Dual core running at 4GHz or a Quad core running at 2GHz? just a little thought I had, I think the dual core will have a higher frame rate, just by a smidge.

So I've recently discovered that my CPU can unlock to 4 cores and i was excited AF.I've updated my BIOS to the latest version and tried unlocking. (Im with American Megatrends BIOS btw) So I've set the Advanced Clock Calibration to -2% all cores and enabled Unlock CPU Feature. Rebooted the PC and it was successful....BUT my frequency was 2.5Ghz instead of 3.2Ghz which was strange. So i played some games and turned the PC OFF.The next day when i tried to turn it ON the fans started but the PC wont POST.....so I reset the BIOS settings and the PC turned ON. After that i went to Google to search about what happened and found out that in some of these CPUs the cores are defective. Some people are saying that they were able to achieve stability by disabling the 4-th core.So i enabled the unlock core feature and rebooted the PC, the first time it didn't work (it shows Phenom II X2 555) the second time it wouldn't POST after the reboot..... What can i do in order to at least enter BIOS and disable the 4-th core?

hi I was just running Add to dictionary and noticed that its displaying that I have two cores when I have aa quad core. I previously set up a vm and gave it ram and cpu cores. this is the only cause that I can think of as to why this would happen. I have since deleted that and all virtual machines that have been on this computer. any help or advice would be much appreciated.

So Im Upgrading a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF To a Core 2 Quad Q9400 Is That Processor Compatible With DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM?

Since everyone seems to be upgrading to Ryzen 6 & 8 core CPU's to get prepared for next gen, I was thinking if I should upgrade or still wait for another generation or two. I currently not really sure because I turned more into a casual gamer and are also very budget oriented. Therefore I would only like to upgrade, if it is really needed and makes a big enough difference to justify the price of switching out all the parts. I play games in 1080p with 60 FPS and lowest settings I would go for keeping 60 FPS are medium graphics. I checked out several benchmarks and saw that there is currently not that much of a difference in most of the games, except very multicore CPU demanding ones like AC or Battlefield V, but that will probably change once the new consoles come out. The only games I have and where I noticed some CPU bottlenecking are a little bit in Star Wars Battlefront 2 & a lot in Battlefield V, where the FPS can drop below 60 from time to time, when the CPU is hitting high usage over 90% and causing the GPU usage to drop a lot. On one hand I would like to wait until more games are affected, but on the other hand I would like to be prepared and also make use of the current worth of my old parts, making the upgrade a little less expensive. ---------------------------- Since MSI is currently having a cashback deal, it would be in my budget of 430€ to upgrade to a Ryzen 3600 non X on a MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max, where I would get back 50€ for buying the board with that specific CPU. The total upgrade would cost me around: 168€ - Ryzen 3600 110€ - MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max 70-90€ - 16GB DDR4 RAM @ 3200 Mhz = 368€ minus the 50€ cashback making it "only" ~ 318€ Selling my old PC parts, which would get me around 100-130€ on Ebay, will make it "only" a ~ 200€ expensive upgrade. My current system: CPU - Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 @ 3.3 GHz (Stock) GPU - 8GB Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro+ MB - GIGABYTE - GA-H87-HD3 RAM - 16GB RAM @ 1600 Mhz PSU - Be quiet! I'm trying to build a decent cheap gaming rig and I need at least a quad core. I've been looking at the i3-9100f or the Ryzen 3 2200g, I'm just not sure what to pick. If you have any opinions on either cpu please help me out along with possibly other hardware choices for my system.

Hey guys! Hope everyone is having a happy holidays! This holiday I have been looking at a computer upgrade on the end of year sales going on and wanted to get another 16gb of ram to fill up the slots. After some research ive found out that quad core doesnt run well on AM4. Would this extra 16gb of ram (Putting me at 32GB afterwards) be an upgrade, be worse or would i even notice it at all? Im currently running a MSI MPG x570, Ryzen 5 3600,G.Skill Trident 16GB 3200MHZ, Gigabyte GTX 1080, 850w PSU, 1TB NVME, 4TB HDD and a 2TB SSD. Was planning to buy another g.skill trident 2x8gb kit. Not sure if its needed to know but I stream daily for about 4-6 hours after work everyday and play shooters like CoD, Overwatch and Mobas like HOTS & League. I would like to stay above 144Hz and figured this RAM would help with video editing and graphics design. Thanks in advanced ! ?

What’s up, first time creating an account and a topic on this forum. So this might just be me being stupid or my computer has a problem. My computer is an AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad-Core Proccessor yet my core count as viewed from task manager states that it has two cores. I do see that it says 4 logical processors but to be honest I really don’t know what they are. I looked it up and saw that they are part of a core (correct me if I’m wrong) but I don’t think that that has much to do with my “Quad-Core” system. Btw I did find this topic on other website but it did not help me so I decided to start one here. Thanks for the help.

ok well it's 1AM rn so ignore any typos or anything of that kind. so uh I have some old PC's laying around that I wanna turn into a media pc to just stream some movies on my home network and stuff and I have 2 options for that. a Dell Optiplex 3020 with a dual core i3-4130 with a TDP of 54W and a Dell Precision T1500 with a quad core i7-860 with a TDP of 95W. so my question(s) was; whatd be better? a quad core or a dual core? im kinda leaning towards the i3 cause 1. the i3 is newer and supports hyperthreading and such. 2. it has a lower TDP which might give me the option to put a passive cooler on it for maximum quietness or something but a reason I thought the i7 might be the smarter choice is cause it has more cores... even though it is a lot older and runs on a slower architecture and stuff... so what are y'all's opinions? the i3? or the i7?
