Hello LTT, I’m currently baffled to what’s going on with my PC. Current specs are: ASUS Z170 Deluxe Mobo. I7-6700K at 4.7@ 1.35Vcore 16GB of Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz EVGA 1080Ti Hybrid 950 Pro M.2 with some additional SSDs (Samsung 850’s) and a EVGA 850 G2 Power Supply. So this happened the day, right after a normal shutdown. I went to boot up the pc, which was followed by a short blip and then an Instant shutdown. The mobo reads Q-Code 00, right before shutting down. Things I have tried (with no prevail): Unplugging GPU Unplugging and removing all storage devices Checking for bent pins (none), reapplying thermal paste, CPU re-seating and re-torquing the AIO back in. Removing the RAM Dimms. Clearing CMOS I can’t get the system to post. Worth noting, the main PCI-E lane died in my mobo a month ago, making me switch to the bottom slot. So it could indicate a toasted mobo. However: I do see power going to the mobo, the leds are present, the PSU and CPU Radiator fans spin briefly when I turn on the computer, the case fans don’t, however. I hear a brief clicking noise from the PSU, indicating a short somewhere (But I have all main components unplugged) the clicking noise is not present when the CPU isn’t installed, however then the PC doesn’t react to the power button on the case or the mobo itself. Another interesting thing, allegedly I’m supposed to at least see a post screen without having a CPU installed, but the system refuses to turn on without a CPU (not even for a split second). I checked the CPU Backplate and the Thermal Pads for the Mosfets and I see some leakage. (See picture below) The system however have never been stressed out to the point of thermal throttling and temps have always been around 45-60 under load. With no abrupt crashes or BSODs. So I’m wondering why the mosfets are “sweating” behind the thermal pads. I have yet to try another PSU from an old rig, to either rule the PSU out or not. But I’m looking for more suggestions. Anything else I can try?

Hi guys, two days ago my computer was working fine, since yesterday it decided not to post. Think its playing dead on me, but for so long, its not funny anymore. A power goes to the system, LEDs on the motherboard light up when I just plug-in PSU just like before. After pressing start button on a case or motherboard, fans spin once and everything turns back to previous state. I hear a noticable click in PSU, possibly a protection inside the unit itself? Tried taking it apart, removed GPU, RAM and kept it to PSU, MB and CPU. Still nothing. Just 00 q code pops and turns off right away. Got a new PSU, same result. The situation is very similar to this previous post. Do you think there might be a chance to save the system? The system is 3 years old, so no warranty. The build wasn`t cheap and would like to find a way to get it back working without a need to buy a new motherboard and CPU, because the ones I have aren`t supported anymore and investing into an old system without warranty doesn`t seem to me as the brightest idea. Yesterday, while I was watching a video on Facebook, the PC has suddenly turned off. At first I thought that it must be my GPU, because recently I've seen a video of the same thing happening to another guy, while he was gaming. And I also had some issues with it before (as it's one of the faulty GTX 1080 FTW GPU's that EVGA has promised to replace, but I didn't want to stay without the card, unless it's really bad), like seeing artifacts for a couple of second before any video online. When I tried to turn it on, the motherboard was showing a QCODE "00" (I have Asus Strix X99 Gaming), which based on manuals means - "not used". I have tried looking for some more information online and have found out some more people having the same problem with almost identical setups. It turns out that the mobo might have faulty VRM circuits and so the CPU is probably fried, even though I didn't have any problem with temperatures, but there were a few issues with the mobo before as well. I'm just curious if anyone has any experience dealing with ASUS and Intel personally? I read that they aren't friendliest to their customers, but can I expect the parts to be replaced as it wasn't my fault of them breaking in the first place? The CPU and the motherboard were bought just a couple of months ago, brand new. It's literary my first PC that I've built after years of using laptops, those luckily never had any technical issues before, but I don't have much experience doing RMA.

I have been having a lot of BSOD's on my pc but that is to be expected on a new platform like AM4, so I thought I would update my BIOS to get it more stable since the BIOS that came with the board was the F3 BIOS from March this year. I used Gigabyte's Flash utility called @BIOS from the app center, and downloaded the newest BIOS F10 from their website, and then proceeded to install the bios, and then it finished everything seemed like it finished without any errors and then it told me to restart the pc to complete the BIOS flash which I then did, but it didn't turn back on, it wouldn't boot after that. When I turn it on everything spins up and continue to spin just as if the pc was working as without error but the motherboards shows the Q-code 00 and the CPU led is on, other then that the motherboards RGB light (supposed to always be on if the pc is) is only on for a blink when you press the power button and then it goes off and stays off.I would really appreciate some help on the matter since I followed your guide on how to update the BIOS. It might be a small error that I just don't have the knowledge to fix or the motherboard might be bricked which I really hope it isn't.What I've tried:* clearing CMOS (both by pressing the button and removing the battery)* Draining the caps* Reseating the RAM (But haven't tried to test every slot on the board with each stick)* Tried to boot with one stick of ram in the leftmost slot with no boot* Tried unplugging all DisplayPort cables and then booting with no luck I have looked around online and found some people with kinda the same issue and they fixed it by booting without the DisplayPort cables attached but that didn't work for me. Any advice is appreciated.

HI everyone, I build my new desktop pc 3-4 days ago with theese components: Asus maximus VIII hero I7-6700k Asus gtx 1080 strix cooler master B700 power suply cooler master nepton 240m water cooler 1tb seagate hdd (i am waiting for m.2 ssd to arrive) in nzxt noctis 450 case I bought 4x8gb (32gb) of corsair vengance ddr4 RAM at 3200mhz and when i assembled my pc it didnt turn on... i later found out in user manual that there is Qualified vendor list for compatible ram speeds in certain quantities (in my case 4x8gb modules.) I "fixed" that problem (for now) by inserting 2x8 gb of ram in two last slots at the motherboard (the only way motherboard was recognising them) and it automaticaly lowered the speed to 2133 mhz which in xmp it allowed me to OC mode at 3200mhz. (i plan to change my RAM to something fully compatible so i can insert 32gb) My main problem now is Qcode 00. When i push the power button my pc "starts" an it automaticaly shoes Qcode 00 at the motherboard. I nottice that Cooler master logo on the water pump doesn light up (everithing else seems to light up regulary) and when i turn of my pc by holding the power button i notice that logo on the water pump flashes for a moment. the only way that i can turn my pc on is that i turn off the power supply and remowe power cable from it. and when i insert the cable back in and push power on, it turns on regulary. anyone know what can i do to fix this beacuse i dont want to detach power cable every time i want to turn my pc on Thank you and sorry if i make mistakes while typing (english is not my native language)
