In the last 2 years I had 5 monitors, one Viewsonic XG2405, which came with 3 dead pixels and 3 stuck pixels, and then made the exchange for another one, and that one came with a dead pixel on the bottom edge. After upgrading GPU I got the itch to buy a 1440p, which at that time I bought an MSI MAG274QRF-QD. Guess what? It came faulty, with 4 dead pixels and what seemed like a big speck of dust inside the middle of the screen. I then sent it back and was refunded and then bought an ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ which I have since a month ago, and it was good when I bought it, since It has zero dead pixels, but now, sadly again, another problem arose. You see, in a black background or any dark background, it is full of green stuck sub-pixels. Here are some photos: I also have photos of my previous monitors issues: MAG274QRF-QD Viewsonic XG2405 After all these experiences I am planning to keep the Asus since the bright sub-pixels are only noticeable if I try hard enough to search for them in a dark room. With the room's lights on and the monitor on low brightness (which is what I am accustomed to use) it is even less noticeable. Still, it is veeery annoying (maybe a bit less to people who don't suffer from OCD like me) to have to deal with all these issues and shame on all these brands for selling us faulty products as new. As I read somewhere on the internet, you don't buy a car with 3 tires instead of 4, and the car brands certainly don't expect you to think it's normal, so why do these monitor manufacturer's expect you to be alright with more than 3-5 dead pixels-stick pixels? What makes it ever worse for me is that I live in Latin America and here RMA is non-existent (when I bought in the store they didn't even let me try the monitor in the store) and in my country official support is bad since, they don't even the same model in stock to replace so, support is almost non-existent. The previous monitor I had before trying 144hz and buying a new one was a Dell UltraSharp U2414H, it was practically flawless, no issues whatsoever. I would keep using it and sell the Asus, but after trying Adaptive Sync and 144hz - 165hz, i'm not going back, I can't.

My girlfriend has a phone with QC 2.0, and I just bought a phone with QC 3.0. We are looking for a car charger that can support both of our phones at their respective limits. I have heard that 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0 and I can plug her phone into a 3.0 port without issue. Is that true? Am I at risk of damaging her phone if I use it in my 3.0 socket? Also, if it needs to stay 2.0 and 3.0, can anyone recommend a car charger with both ports? Thanks!

Ok I've got to be quick here, there is an awesome deal right now that makes the Bose QC 35 II only $258 dollars. I've been considering getting a better pair of headphones for a while as my current headphones are hurting my ears after 15 minutes of wearing them (Turtlebeach PX22). The reviews I have seen have pointed out a few flaws but emphasized the comfort of the bose. I am mainly looking for comfort, good sound quality (I call myself an audiophile but use $40 headphones still, so this is an improvement no matter what), and noise cancelling is a plus (I've never had noise cancelling headphones but it would be nice). This is my third AOC AG271QG (27" IPS 165Hz 1440p G-SYNC) monitor. Backlight bleed strikes again! The first two were from February 2018, this latest one is from March 2018. Different retailers each time. At least this latest time around I paid only £549 instead of £630 like the first two times. At this point it's clear that they are all like this with only very minor variances between them. So not sure what to do now. The ASUS PG279Q, Viewsonic XG2703-GS and Acer XB271HU all have deeper stands than this AOC (which already feels a bit cramped on my small desk), are more expensive in the case of the first two and from my online research they all have this same backlight bleeding issue anyway. Already tried the Dell S2417DG which I also returned because of very bad colour artifacting in darker shades, so I'm ruling out TN. Meanwhile, 27" 16:9 1440p VA options lack G-SYNC and have the same problem where the stands are a bit too deep (Samsung CHG70 and MSI MAG27CQ/MPG27CQ) in addition to their own QC issues regarding ghosting. I feel I've been backed into a corner here with almost no options left. Is there anything I can do to minimise the effect of the bleed such as bias lighting? Does it tend to fade over time like some people have claimed online? Should I try to learn to live with it? Would appreciate any thoughts on what my next course of action should be.

Just received a shiny new IPS monitor and as we all know there is a panel lottery in play across the market. What defects should I check for to ensure that my monitor is properly QC'd before the return window expires? - I've checked for dead pixels, can't see any right now (yay!), but will check again later today just in case I've missed something or a new one appears in the next few hours. - I've tried checking for backlight bleed but unfortunately it's daytime and I don't have blackout curtains so I can't do a proper check until tonight. I didn't see anything obvious on max brightness but again it's daytime so I'll see how it fares at night. What other defects should I check for? Thanks!

The third AOC AG271QG I've tried (the two that I already returned had similar levels of backlight bleed) is on the left side, the first Acer XB271HU I've tried is on the right side: Black screen, 50% monitor brightness, moderate ambient light in room: Video with dark scene, 50% monitor brightness, moderate ambient light in room: Video with dark scene, 50% monitor brightness, darkened room: As you can hopefully see from they photos the backlight bleed isn't as noticeable on the Acer as it is on the AOC. Is the amount of backlight bleed on the Acer as good as I can reasonably expect to get in the IPS panel lottery?

I've been looking at getting a monitor upgrade for a while, and was very excited about the specs of the Asus PG279Q when it was announced, but since then there have been stories after stories of poor QC - multiple dead pixels, terrible backlight bleed and higher than average IPS glow as well, and stuff like dirt and hair caught under the panel glass and other stuff like that. Pretty much any site with customer reviews or forums etc talking about the panel have horror stories, but I know Asus put out an Announcement on the issue and apparently are trying to clean up their act. I'm mainly interested to hear from anyone who has bought the PG279Q within the couple of months or so, and has a fairly new model (not an old stock code, as obviously they'll be vulnerable to the same issues). Asus put out their announcement in mid-March, so I'd have expected to hear better things by now but all the reviews I can find are either from 5 months or more ago, or are still fairly negative even today. A few quick things I'd like to point out: Firstly, yes I'm aware that BLB is not the same as IPS Glow and I know what "good" IPS glow should look like :). Secondly, this is mainly concerning to me because I tend to game and compute in a fairly dark room with the monitor at maximum brightness, and I'm aware that this is generally the "worst case" for poor monitor performance especially where IPS glow and BLB is concrned. I do have calibration tools so I can calibrate the monitor if needed but I don't like such tools habit of knocking the display brightness down to about 20% as I find the screen hard to see at lower brightness levels. (For anyone interested, I mostly use the Datacolor Spyder4 Elite for this, although I've only used it on my work PC, not personal ones). Thirdly, I'm aware of the Acer Predator XB271HU which has the same panel and about the same price. However I hear that the QC Isn't much better and the review I've seen comparing it to the ASUS paints the Acer in a Negative light too. Fourthly - My current monitor is the Asus VS24AHL, a decidedly middle of the road IPS. In order to show what my current IPS glow looks like (minimum, even in a dark room and at max settings) I decided to take a couple of photos to upload here - basically to say "This is tolerable to me, I wouldn't want anything worse than this especially at that price range". However, an interesting thing happened which wasn't originally going to be part of this post, but I'd be remiss to not mention it here. To my eyes, the monitor in a pitch black room looks dark - or, at least, has that "black monitor screen" look of a TV or monitor in a dark room, with the only BLB being a small white-ish patch on the right-hand side, half way up against the right bezel. However, my photos show something quite different, and I've attached them both - they show very significant glow in all four corners, with top left and top right being orange-y and the bottom left and right showing MASSIVE white patches - I cannot emphasise enough that these are not visible with the naked eye, which leads me to wonder whether all of the negative reviews of the PG279Q showing photos like the ones below may also be overblown due to cameras for some reason seeing things that we cannot with the naked eye. Thoughts? Tl;Dr: If you have bought the Asus PG279Q recently, what is the quality control (backlight bleed, IPS glow and dead pixels) like? Thanks for reading and any insight!

I am looking a pair of headphone or earphone. I travel a lot by plane, so I want noise cancelling feature. I was looking at ath m50x and bose qc 20 and 25. I know bose have great noise cancelation, but would you guys recommend ath m50x or bose qc. Also, does ath m50x have good noise cancelation for the plane rides?. If you recommand bose, would you recommend 20 or 25? Thanks

Disappointing, to put it mildly. For all the criticism directed at the poor QC present in budget-oriented or even mid-range keyboards, I was not expecting this from a $225 slab made in Japan. Just emailed customer support, so we'll see how that goes. The keys feel kinda like piano ivory I guess, but I don't even want to look at the thing now. Just something to keep in mind when discussing generalized QC issues, I suppose. Edit: EK told me that it was a common occurrence with steel plated keyboards and to bend it back. That seems to have worked, but I've never had issues with any of my other steel plated boards using Cherry switches.
