Come along as i upgrade my pre-built! (and maybe give me some tips) UPFATE: Cooler Master Hyper H412R - Does not work without removing the original back plate which is unfortunately also screwed to the CPU socket in some way. Enermax LIQMAX III - Doesn also not work because of the back plate. For now i only applied some ARCTIC MX-4 thermal paste and made sure the stock CPU cooler is screwed on tight. I'll make sure to add some number later. Besides looking for other options to mount a new cooler i'm working towards getting the cheapest possible AND usable motherboard and PSU replacement.. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Let's start with what i have: My pre-built Acer Predator Orion 3000 - PO3-630 has a "kinda shitty" but okay CPU, a pretty good GPU, an okay amount of memory and i guess something like a PSU.. i7-11700F Intel CPU cooler RTX 3060 Ti (Some kind of Acer Predator card with a blower style cooler) 2x 8GB HyperX Fury DDR4 3200 Enough SSD and HDD 2x FrostBlade 2.0 case fans Now let's see what i plan to do: First of all i have to get rid of the Intel CPU cooler, even for a low power i7 it's just not enough. I already have an AIO ready for when i upgrade the whole PC not long from now but i still have to do some things until then. Intel CPU cooler is getting exchanged for a Cooler Master Hyper H412R. It's more than enough for the now and it's getting exchanged tomorrow (18. January 2022) i'll update here . This will make a really big difference since the downwards Intel CPU cooler makes the whole case into a hotbox, which makes the loud case fans ramp up and the GPU not so comfortable as well. (The new thermal paste will make some difference as well, heard it's applied badly from the factory.) I'll get another 2x 8GB memory i guess, unless someone has something really bad to say about HyperX Fury 3200 8 GB? I think this will be all i'd do before going for the full upgrade. I'll be happy with the GPU and memory for a while, i worked the last 6 years with a fraction of what i have now so i'll make it another 6 with this. Now let's see if this is a good idea: If everything goes as planned i will make a whole new PC in about 6 to 8 months. At this point i will need a new case, obviously. With the new case i'll get some really nice and quite case fans, i guess something Noctua. A new motherboard is a must. The limited connection on the PO3-630 are like building a PC with a car battery connected to your hands, not good. Now i'm not sure where to go. Do i upgrade the CPU? I could go for the newest and best of course. Why not go for DDR5 while i'm at it? Well, i will not be able to afford this so forget about it. I will be on a budget so it would be ideal to stay with the i7-11700F. I mean this baby has 8 cores 16 threads, 2.5 GHz base clock and 4.9 turbo. All the games i've tried work just fine with it and some light Photoshop worked excellent. I'll be working with Capture1 and Premiere Pro for my second job so i hope this will work just as good.. Do any of you have a good reason to not stay with this CPU? Let's get back to the list. (Please just act like there's a 4. in front of this text) Now i feel like i need a new PSU, you know, with mostly the same parts as before (I have to stop making those stupid jokes). I'm thinking about a 750W or 800W, with what i have and what i'll add i think that's enough. (5. you know what to do) It's time for the AIO. In my infinite wisdom i bought an AIO before checking if it will fit anywhere in my current case... Because of that i bought a single 120mm AIO, this one to be exact: Enermax LIQMAX III .. I know it can be enough and i'm not afraid to re apply thermal paste once a year to keep everything performing as it should so i guess i'll stay with it? I guess this is it. Did i forget something important? Would you do something different? I know this post was probably overkill with how i did id but i did not find much on upgrading the new Predators so i thought i'd start with something. I'm thinking about making a video of the upgrade process and maybe adding some Benchmarks once i figure out how to properly log them..

Hi everyone! this is my first post here in the forum. i own a 5 year old Acer Predator 15 G9-593, I have plans to upgrade my SSD, Hard Drive, and RAM because I'm having troubles with the speed and it keeps crashing while editing in premiere pro. My highest "disk fragment" status for the HDD is 17% My work revolves around daily content creation and looooooooooots of chrome tabs, and it's usually open around 18-20 hours per day. I was wondering if you guys can help me find specific items that I could buy that wont cause a bottleneck entirely . My priority is HDD - > SSD - > RAM Specs -> Dream Upgrade 1. HDD - 1TB 5400rpm: TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100 I was wondering if I could replace it with a WD Blue or Samsung SATA HDD or anything that could give me more RPM/speed. Has to be 1TB or 2TB 2. SSD - 256GB SAMSUNG MZNLN256HMHQ - 00000: I want to upgrade it to a 1tb SSD idk what to choose between SATA m.2 or NVME m.2 3. RAM: 16gb DDR4: I want to upgarde it to 32 or 64gb but I'm kinda confused with the ram speeds part GPU: GTX 1070 CPU: I7 - 6700 HQ Battery Life: 0% but I might replace the battery once I get extra budget

I bought a Predator Helios 300 last November, it had an RTX 2060 and an i7-10750H (2020 model). Anybody thinking of buying this laptop please refrain from doing so (at least the 2020 model), I have had the worst experience with this laptop. When I bought this laptop I was pretty happy with my purchase ,it was a nice laptop but after sometime it started having problems at first my speakers volume would go so low at a level where you wouldn't be able to guess the conversation, yeah I understand that gaming laptops don't have good speakers but these where unusable so I told this issue to acer and they replaced my speakers . After a couple of months I started having the same issues they replaced my speakers again. Again a couple of months flew by I was starting to have huge performance issues (eg: valorant in medium settings gives an average 40 fps) and also my mic and headphone jack stopped working, acer said that they needed to replace my motherboard which I was totally okay with, they replaced my motherboard and just three weeks after that my laptop died. Acer said my motherboard to be replaced again , I had a heated argument with acer over this issue, finally I had to settle for a 3 month warranty extension. Yesterday I got my laptop back with a new motherboard ,they said that it was tested and analyzed properly. That motherboard didn't even last a day my laptop died within five hours of use. After this they took back my laptop mulyiple times , it again died multiple times , the service center rep told me he dosent know what the problem is. At this point I don't think giving my laptop again back to acer so they can screw up my laptop again will do any good . I am thinking about asking for a new laptop from acer can anyone please help me with this and give me some pointers. I am a student and this laptop is really driving me crazy. PS: I am form India

So if you've seen my other posts you know of my plan to replace my 3 1080p monitors with one large 4k display. So far I've tried an LG NANO85 49" and now this Acer Predator CG437K 43". Mini LG NANO85 Review The LG NANO85 worked well enough but the problem I had with it was lack of displayport, my laptop has a 2080S in it so no HDMI 2.1 compatibility. I ended up ordering that Club3D adapter and it "works" but has tons of problems, it doesn't work on newer Nvidia drivers & I had other problems like the TV refusing to wake from it's low power/sleep mode & random disconnects. Other than that the TV was great. Once I figured out this ridiculous menus and how to get the TV into PC Mode the input lag was low enough that it wasn't noticeable and image quality was quite good (way better than the old TN panels I had before). If you have HDMI 2.1 compatibility or just want to use the TV as a ya know.. TV with 120Hz 4k it's actually quite good and especially for it's retail price of ~$550-$600 for the 49" model. Now to the Acer Predator CG437K While this monitor is 4k 144Hz if you want to use G-SYNC or HDR you need to stick to 120Hz. (and anyway mine appears to skip frames at 144Hz). So I'm keeping mine in 120Hz mode. This monitor uses a VA panel so blacks are very deep but it also doesn't compromise on brightness, DAMN is this thing bright (though this shouldn't be a surprise as it's HDR 1000 certified) but still, I usually keep my displays on max brightness but this this is set all the way down to 30% and it's still a little brighter than my Laptop. One major downside (and really my only large complaint) that comes with a VA panel is smearing (all of my stuff is black with white text which looks worse than black text on white when moving windows around) There is definitely noticeably more smearing on this display compared to my old TN 144Hz monitor (VG248QE) and even my laptop's 240Hz IPS panel. If I'm being honest this would probably be a deal breaker if I paid full retail price (~$1200-$1500) for this monitor but considering I got it for way less than that and there isn't really any other options in the ~43" 4k 120/144Hz space that aren't VA it's not bad enough for me to consider looking around more. This monitor also BGR instead of normal RGB layout which can cause problems with text clarity. All I'm going to say is it's not noticeably worse than any other displays I have and is easily readable with 100% scaling from 3-4 feet away. The monitor also comes with some LED strips that I can only describe basically the same way as James did in the short circuit, they're pretty half assed and were clearly an after thought, I don't use them and neither did the previous owner of this display as they are still sealed.... There's also some other cool additions like this monitor has tons of inputs (2x DP, 1 USB-C w/ DP, 3x HDMI 2.0) and also has a lot of PiP modes if that matters to you, I haven't personally used them yet but It's nice to be able to repurpose such a large display to do many things in the future. There's also a USB 3.0 hub which again I haven't used yet but it's pretty self explanatory, it's a USB hub. The stand that came with the monitor is very large and offers basically no adjustments. I'll probably swap it out for a table stand VESA mount (I already have one I was using for the LG TV.) There's spots marked for controllers but it would have been awesome to see something like USBs or a wireless charger built into all that plastic space. as for HDR I don't really watch and movies or HDR content nor do I have any HDR games I believe. I did try out YouTube's HDR and It pretty good but I'm not the one you want to talk to about HDR performance as I couldn't honestly tell a significant difference between watching an HDR video and watching the same video with HDR disabled. It looks good either way.... Some Notes: I wrote CG437K (P) in the title, this monitor reports as a CG437K P which I thought was a different model than just CG437K but appears to just be the same. Overdrive is technically adjustable on this monitor and I have it on extreme because it looks like there's a slight bit less smearing but it doesn't appear to make any significant difference with it off, on normal, or extreme. It also randomly decides to NOT let you adjust it, yesterday I couldn't change it on DP at all even after disabling anything I could find and resetting the monitor to factory settings but today it works fine... Edit: And the overdrive option is greyed out again... No idea why but it's annoying considering there is a slight but noticeable difference when I enable Extreme Overdrive. I believe this monitor uses the same panel and is VERY similar to both the Asus ROG Strix XG438Q & Aorus FV43U (which someone has reviewed on here).

2 years ago i bought an Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-52) and been working 3D animation and some gaming on it ever since.Around 3 months ago, when i was playing Destiny 2, it suddenly just turns off. Not even a BSOD, it just dies. Ever since then, everytime i boot up any game at all, it does that after 5-10 minutes of gameplay. I thought that it must have been something with the cooling, so i tried cleaning the fans in it. No luck. With my limited knowledge of tech stuff, i decided to buy and apply fresh thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. Still, the problem persists. What can i do to fix this? I'm currently studying abroad, and i couldn't find any service center in this city. And i'm gonna be quarantined for sometime. I won't survive without gaming at all. Things i've tried: 1. I thought the GPU might be damaged,so i tested gaming with the integrated graphic. Still dies. 2. Someone suggested that the RAMs might be damaged. So i tested each of them individually. I even borrowed my friend's SODIMM RAM and put it in mine. Still dies 3. The battery could be the problem, right? So, I took out the battery and turned it on without it. It ran a bit longer than usual, but it still dies. 4. Maybe the power brick's the problem? I borrowed my friend's (exact same model) and used it on mine. Still dies. 5. Maybe its the graphic driver? Updated it, still dies.

Hi there, folks! I have a pair of 3200 MHz CL16 memory sticks from HyperX. The report in Thaiphoon shows RAM Manufacturer as Samsung but in the JEDEC section, the name that shows up is SK Hynix. My question is, is my RAM Samsung B-Die or SK Hynix? Thanks in advance and stay safe out there in these times!

Hey guys, So I have built a new PC with Intel i5-10600K and Gigabyte Z490 Vision G for my girlfriend and using Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3200 MHz single stick at the moment. Basically I am going to upgrade to at least 32GB (2x16GB) 3200 Kit and I need help to choose between HyperX Predator RGB vs CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB. Additionally, I am going to upgrade the CPU to 11th Gen when the new Intel processor will be launched in March, 2021. The system is used for professional work purpose, zero gaming. Will really appreciate your valuable feedbacks. Thank you!!

I need help deciding between these two laptops, they're like the exact same but one of them has 10th gen i5 the other has 10th gen i7, the rest of the laptop is exactly the same. The price for i5 model is $1,226 and the i7 is $1,363. Both prices are after discount, there is a sale going on in India. Now I'm gonna be using these laptops for 4 years in college at least, should I spend the extra money and go for the i7 model or is i5 enough, if I buy i5 I can use the money I saved to buy a good gaming mouse and maybe a headphone. And yes I do plan on playing future AAA titles on it, and are these laptops upgradable? if I ever need it.

what size psu fits in the acer predator orion 3000 P03-630?

i was looking to build a pc in the acer orion 3000 p03 630 case. and i am not sure if a atx psu fits. was looking to put a corsair TM650x and not sure if it will fit. -
Both are 240hz Alienware's has an IPS panel while Acer offers 0.4ms GTG response time Need help picking since I'm in a dilemma, I play games like Mordhau, Bannerlord and HYPERCHARGE a lot, occassionally League and CSGO. I don't know which one to go for especially since Acer's screen is about 100 bucks more expensive than the Alienware one in my country. Price isn't the problem since I have been keeping an extra sum for 7 years until I needed to upgrade my monitor, just wanted to hear more opinions before I take the fall and choose one. Thanks in advance! Bonus: Anyone knows if the Samsung 240Hz 4ms one is any better compared to the 2? It's on sale here but the 4ms is putting me off. I've watch Linus' video on it and all the 240Hz video he has so it's making me more conflicted with my choices. I wanted BenQ's Zowie but it's sold out and too overpriced here despite being about 2 and half years old

Help please. I want to canghe the boot sound
Joamgz posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I've seen in some TikToks that when you start your PC it doesn't sounds like the normal predator boot sound. Instead it sounds like Jarvis from the IronMan movies. How do you change the stock boot sound? I know how to disable the sound and the animatio, but I really appreciate if someone could advise me on how to change the boot sound. Thanks in advance. Here's the TikTok I saw: https://vm.tiktok.com/tfSBCA/ -
Wasn't sure whether to post this in graphics cards or monitors, so my apologies if I'm breaking the forum rules here. I have an Asus Strix 1080ti, which has two Display ports and two HDMI inputs. I also have 3 XB27HU 1440p G-Sync monitors. The issue is that on the third monitor, I am limited to HDMI 1.4, so that's 60hz at 1440p. Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to get around this issue? I bought this card after seeing reviews that it was one of the fastest 1080ti's at the time it was released (the 011G model). But I'd be willing to trade for an equal-ish card with someone that would benefit from the two HDMI's. Let me know what you guys and gals think I should do. Thanks y'all.

hey guys I have been facing some issues with my helios 300 with power limit throttling and thermal throttling. I have undervolt the cpu using ETU but the temperature still goes beyond 90. at first I thought the issue must lies with the pasting because it did not give me any problems in the first year of purchase, that's why I thought a repasting would do the trick. but even after repasting the laptop shows the exact same issues except this tie I get Power Limit and thermal throttling at the same time side note- even after the testing the laptop somehow manages to stay within 80-90C.NOTHING IS RUNNING, its just me looking at the numbers going up on the screen specs- intel i5-8300h nvidia gtx 1060 6gb 16gb RAM

So I recently built a new Gaming PC and for a while i played my games on my old Dell 1920x1080 screen. However, I recently upgraded to an "Acer Predator XB271HK" hoping to play with a 1440p resolution on the 4K screen and later play them at 4K when a capable and affordable 4K card comes out. I plugged it in via a Display Port cable to my GPU and checked the PC had all drivers up to date. I then attempted to change my screen resolution in the 'NVIDIA Control Panel' from (3840 x 2160 native) to (2560 x 1440) but my screen went black and a "no signal" message appeared. I tried to create a 'custom resolution' but when I tried to test it the screen still went black and the same message appeared. Both times the 'Refresh Rate' was at 60Hz. I was able to change my resolution to (2560 x 1440) in Windows settings but not in game. I decided to keep the display at the native resolution and attempt to change the resolution of games in the actual game menus. Once again the screen went black and the error message appeared. (Audio of game still plays in the background) I swapped out my DP for a HDMI 2.0 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-HDMI-2-0-Cable/dp/B014I8SSD0) and switched inputs on my monitor. I could now change to a lower resolution but only at a 30Hz refresh rate. Again I went into the 'NVIDIA Control Panel' and tried to change my refresh rate but the max available to me was 30Hz. I tried to customise but when I put in 60Hz and tested it the screen went black and the error message popped up. I am sure that the cable is High Speed 2.0 as it is written on the cable itself. DP: Cannot lower resolutiuon HDMI 2.0: Cannot get abover 30Hz All games run off Steam with the exception of Star Citizen which is the only game resolution I can change. (Not that it matters since their netcode is pretty bad with basically 6fps ) All games run in 4K albeit at an average of 32fps with the PC running at full pelt (Nothing is overclocked) I have tried launching games both in Steam and as .exe Games that I have tried: Just Cause 3 Hitman 47 No Man's Sky Planet Coaster Dying Light The Witcher 3 PC Specs: CPU: i7-6700k GPU: Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Extreme Edition RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 10 (x64) Storage: WD 250GB SSD / WD SSD 500GB Motherboard: Maximus VIII Hero Display: Acer Predator XB271HK 27 inch Wide screen Monitor (IPS, 4K, 16:9) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-XB271HK-screen-Monitor/dp/B0194Q8WC8 I have tried two different HDMI 2.0's and two different DP's yet I still get the same results I simply wish to play games at (2560 x 1440) at 60fps I have spent the past week visiting sites that report similar issues with a black screen but it is when they try to change to 4K and not from it. I am pretty sure it is not a GPU problem as the GPU has proven it can run games at both resolutions with the HDMI 2.0 albiet at a clunky 30Hz on the monitor. Sorry for the lengthy post, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking at a Gaming Monitor and I'm stuck trying to decide between the two different monitors, or preorder the HP Omen X 35 off of newegg.com.
