Hello, Does anyone have an idea to why my computer won't sleep when my power plan says to turn my pc after an amount of time? It's so strange because I'm on the ultimate power plan and it says 20 minutes till my computer puts itself to sleep. So why doesn't it happen? Any help is greatly appreciated. Power plan ↓↓↓

Googling about which power plan to use you'll find a huge debate that seems to have started ever since mankind first started gaming on pc it seems... But what power plan do you recommend for a stationary mid-level gaming pc? I have an Intel I5 13400 with the stock cooler. With high perfomance my cpu always seem to run in turbo mode. The cpu vcore is also more bouncy up and down. Is that safe? Wouldn't it damage the cpu? At the moment when gaming the cpu temp could reach just above 55 or so, which is good values. I bet it would be much higher if it were an I9 with a stock fan.

Hi, my cpu i5-4670k, mobo- gigabyte z87x-ud3h, os- windows 10 when my OS is on balanced power plan my cpu goes 800mhz on idle but whenever i select high performance powerplan my cpu stays at max clock of 3800mhz even on idle though on both power plan my cpu's vcore and power usage stays almost same on idle which is much lower when cpu is on load. Now is keeping CPU on max clock (3.8ghz) always by selecting high performance powerplan harmful to my pc hardware?

I recently performed a clean installation of Windows 11 22H2 on my Acer Nitro 5 (AN-515-58). However, the power plan issue persists. Even in the balanced mode, my CPU runs on turbo boost even when it's idle. The only way to downclock it is by turning on power efficiency mode, but that affects the performance negatively. According to my research, many users are experiencing the same power plan issue after updating to the 22H2 update. I have tried several tweaks in the "Advanced Power Settings" to prevent the CPU from running on turbo boost, but nothing seems to work. I'm confused about the root cause of this problem.

I have seen recommendations of both High Performance and Balanced. Empirically speaking the High Performance Plan makes the most sense because it allows the CPU to use as much power as it wants. On the other hand how ever with Intel's space heater CPUs they might produce to much heat to quickly and be forced to throttle sooner. Now that probably won't be a big deal if you have a good cooler, but it is still something to think about. Apparently at 3am when you can't sleep due to allergies and a cold is a great time to ponder this.

Hello! Recently i've been having huge fps drops and stuttering in MHW, especially in Astera. But the strange thing is, putting Windows in High Performance mode fixed it completely. I checked cpu usage with afterburner and the cpu clock speed was dropping from 3.8 to 2.0 ghz more or less when using the Balanced preset. Do you guys suffer from the same issue? My cpu is an i5 8400 and my gpu is a gtx 1060 6gb. The issue occurs mainly on dx12 but in dx11 I can still notice it, but it happens less often. P.D: Also, for some strange reason dx12 has less input lag, and better highs when it come to fps, but much lower minimum fps compared to dx1.

Hi! So, soon I'll be buying my PC parts. Planning on getting a 5900x with x570 board. So I know drivers are important to update. Correct me if I'm wrong, but download and install all drivers from motherboard manufacturer's website EXCEPT for chipset driver? We're supposed to download the chipset driver from AMD's site? Also, does selecting Ryzen's Performance Power Plan improve performance. I know a while back there was an issue. Would love some help from you guys!

So the latest heatwave prompted me to look at under volting my 3070 & 5900 to reduce temps in my room. Under volting the 3070 only helped a bit untill I noticed the power draw of my 3070 was 30w above the stock spec, so reducing the power limit to 80% fixed that and reduced my gaming temps from 72c to 62c (my room sits at 32c atm). I still need to look at undervolting the 5900, but then it occured to me that when not gaming I could change/switch the windows power plan from balanced to powersaver when not gaming, and this reduces idle temps from 42 to 34c. Its was at this point I thought, maybe there is a a utility that can autoswitch based on 3D load, like the ATItool of old. But then I ran into the issue where Auto power switching only exists for laptops and een then only then battery or external power is detected. I have spent a while on DuckDuck/Google trying to find info on this with not much success, so thought I would ask here. In a nutshell I am after a power plan switcher that will change the windows power plan based on 3D useage, or at the very least per application (eg luaching of steam) and then once that application is closed reverted back to power saver plan.

Hey all, So for some reason windows 10 keeps setting my pc's power plan back to balanced and it's driving me crazy. I even tried changing the default power plan preference in the registry and it's still going back to balanced.

I originally noticed this article over at PCPer and AMD has now released their third Ryzen community update, which includes their own version of a Ryzen optimized Power Plan for Windows. Accordint to the PCPer article, one of the issues that Windows Power Management has been having with the Ryzen chips consists of: (https://www.pcper.com/news/Processors/AMD-Releases-Ryzen-Balanced-Power-Plan-Test-Results-Inside). The guys over at PCPer tried to deconstruct what exact changes have been made in order to create the AMD Balanced Power Plan over the High Performance Plan and created the following chart (Note: Units differ varying by parameter in this chart - compare within each set of 3 bars): In addition to this, AMD is reporting a performance update in Total War: Warhammer with the Bretonnia Update released on March 27th. In the final part of the community update, they have an update coming out for the Ryzen Master software that will report the junction temps for the CPU rather than the tCTL temps by removing the tCTL offset that is applied on the 1800X, 1700X and 1600X processors: https://community.amd.com/community/gaming/blog/2017/04/06/amd-ryzen-community-update-3 Tech Report Article: http://techreport.com/news/31710/amd-offers-a-power-plan-in-its-third-ryzen-community-update Of these updates, it is good to see that they will hopefully have something in place in Windows for the Power Management and Core Parking issue that has been occurring. Of course, it would have been better had these things not been needed in the first place.

My tower runs a 1500X on a stock cooler, 8 GB of RAM, 1060 3GB, AX370 Gaming K3 Motherboard, 480gb ssd, and a 650 psu. I have NOT overclocked it at all, fearing to void the warranty. So the story goes like this: I downloaded some gigabyte applications then deleted them because I didn't like them. I realized my BIOS was not up to date so I updated that. I then installed Ryzen Master Control and AMD's chipset drivers wondering if it'll help with performance. It did help with the benches a bit but what I noticed later was I was running hot, 45 to 50 C all the time on idle. I then noticed my clock speeds were fixed at 3.5 GHZ on the ryzen master control and CPU-Z was showing 3.9 GHZ and 1.45V spikes. I checked my power plan settings and noticed it was on AMD power plan management, I chose the default power plan and the temperatures dropped to 36C,volts at 0.8 around about, and the CPU was at 1.55 GHZ The thing is, the benchmarks showed a performance decrease as well which is annoying. I tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing happened. Anyone been through this or know a fix? I'd rather not manually fix the volts at a certain number as that would void the warranty and disable the xfr making me regret the 1500x since 1600 would've been the better choice then.

Hey guys, just wondering, what do I do to get the ryzen power plan on my system? I heard it's in the chipset drivers from AMD, however i've already installed chipset drivers from my motherboard manufacturer's website (asus Crosshair VI). Do I need to have both chipset drivers installed?

As of recent Window's 10 Patches, AMD RyZen Balanced Power Plan no longer needed nor exist with their latest Chipset Driver ( from AMD Site ). Now I'm wondering, which Power Plan should I use ?? Window's Balanced / Performance ?? I've try Googling it, but there's no solid answer. Most are old topics. Which suggested to use RyZen Balanced. Some suggested to use Performance. Problem with Performance, it will peg all your Cores to MAX speed even at Idle and never down clocks. I did try using Balanced, only played one or two games, didn't notice any weird lag and such though. I even tried Cinebench....scores is about the same as RyZen Balanced, give or take. No huge dip in scores. But I do notice when using Window's Balanced, some of my Cores doesn't run at 3500Mhz constant. It will go down to 2200Mhz then up to 3500Mhz and it's not like between few long seconds, but it's like ever 0.5, up and down up and down... Is this even " good " ?? I don't recall my Intel CPU even does this, it would least stay at a certain speed for a certain amount of time before it clocks down. Just like while I was playing KF2, some of the Cores be pegged at 3500mhz which it should, but then some of the other Cores be all over the place....constant up and down. But as I said I didn't experience any lag / FPS drops etc though. Because the thing is, back when I was using RyZen Balanced, all my Cores are at 3500mhz in game, constant no drops ever. Maybe a slight Boost on One or Two Cores up to 3700mhz for a mere second. If you do own 1st Gen RyZen do share what Power Plan you use. Did you tweak anything else ? I want to mention my CPU is at Stock obviously, I only OCed my RAM.

Hi, so I have this problem in practically every game but in shooters is even worse... I have this setup:i5-8600kSapphire Pulse Vega 5616GB DDR4 Vengeance @ 3000mhzGigabyte z390 Gaming XBitfenix formula 650wI don't know what happens but when I play a game the clock speed of the CPU drops from 4100mhz to 3600mhz, 2800mhz, etc.. just for one or two seconds then it goes back to it's max speed, the problem is when this happens I notice a very annoying fps drop (like a micro sluttering) and I get forced to use the High Performance power plan to fix this, when using this plan everything seems to be okay but in Balanced Mode this problem happens everytime... Is there any way to fix this?My temperature is good, CPU is 65º avg and GPU is 63º max... I reinstalled Windows again and it didnt work.Greetings!!

So my RAM and CPU are running stock except for manually set Vcore to 1.3V although all cores still hit at least 1.47. I've tried every single power plan including the amd ryzen ones that come with the chipset driver. I got the highest score in cinebench with the thing set to power saver and yes all cores were pegged 100% at 4 GHz. Is this everyone's experience with ryzen? If not is my mobo bad or something? thanks bros. p.s. The whole build is on my profile

Is it possible to toggle between balanced and high performance power plan using a batch file ? powercfg -s 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e and powercfg -s 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c When set to balanced, toggle to high performance and when set to high performance, toggle to balanced. Without creating 2 differents batch files.

No matter what I do I can't get my computer to go to turn off the display or go to screen saver. I finally got it to go to sleep but the problem is I often use team viewer to remote into my computer from my laptop and team viewer doesn't work when it's asleep. I've googled it and apparently this used to be a problem with a previous version of Windows 10. I know that the screen saver used to work like a less than a year ago. and only somewhat recently I found that the screen saver isn't working anymore. I've checked all the power settings. and none of them should prevent the screen saver from activating or the display from turning off. I've set the power button to turn off the display. and the display turns off but only for 4 seconds then I see the lock screen but when I hit a key to type in my password it's not even locked. and it goes back to the desktop. is there a way to test to see what is preventing the displays from staying off? I can preview the screen saver and I set it to activate after 1 minute of inactivity but it never activates on its own. I've messed with the settings in control panel and in settings and it's not working properly. I don't want my monitors to be displaying the lock screen all day and waste energy but i still need to be able remote into my computer if someone could help me with a solution to any of these that would be great.

Hi there, I'm having this thing where when I restart / turn off/on my PC my Power Plan always switches to "balanced" instead of my previously set "Amd Ryzen Balanced" (Though I'm not quite sure if it is better than windows 10's balanced / high power) I found on the web that I can force it to stay where it is with Local Group Policy Editor, but when I go to the Power Plan settings I can choose from: - Specify a custom active power plan - Select an active power plan With the custom it says something that I need a special "GUID" code, which I have no idea how to get, and in the select an active PP there's not the AMD setting Anyone know how I can change this? Thanks

Guys i'm running aidia 64 for stress testing, and to my understanding when stress testing you want to run the stress test as you would normally use your pc. I have some problems with this I need ironed out. Normally I would use balanced power plan, however if i'm stress testing after some time my PC will turn off even the fans, and I believe that while adia 64 is running in the background and no fans this is bad probably because the cpu is heating up, and then I get a bsod. So should I use performance power plan while stress testing just so the pc doesn't go to sleep, and then put it back once I get a successful overclock. Linus doesn't really ever mention how to stress test in his overclocking videos, just what programs he uses.
