I recently bought an ASUS TUF FX504 with an i7 8750h. The first time i ran cinebench (cpu) it has a 900+ score. Note that the first time i run cinebench i don't have any programs like intel xtu, throttlestop, cpuz, etc, just brand new out of the box with nothing installed. The next time i run it came out with only 750 ish score. I monitored the cpu and it was only running at 2.2 Ghz. This was n't caused by thermal throttling, because the cpu's temperatures were really low, only 55-60 celsius under full load. I opened intel xtu and noticed that it has a power limit throttling. And in throttlestop it shows that one of its limits is PL2. I tried undervolting the cache and the cpu core which resulted in an increase to the cpu frequency to 2.5-2.6 Ghz when running cinebench. Same case like before, thermals are not a problem, still hitting 55-60 celsius. Undervolting the cpu cache increases the cpu frequency, while the core clock doesn't do much, but i can only do it until a certain point. The power limit throttling is still there and i think it is the one that is causing the cpu frequency to be so low. Another thing that i noticed is that when the cpu is running all cores at 100% load, the pacakge tdp is only 25W despite the rated tdp at 45W. Changing the package power limit also didn't help. I changed it to 70W but it only reaches a max of 25W TDP when running cinebench. Btw, the cpu can still run up to 4 Ghz in daily tasks where the cpu load is pretty low. Please help me out.

Hi all! I currently game on a dell xps (waiting on pc parts) and I've been running into a problem. After playing a game for a while the cpu clock stays in the 2900's despite running into the power limit then all of a sudden it will drop to around 790 with no change in temps or anything. From my understanding when it hits the power limit shouldn't it just stay where it is? I can't think of a reason why it would throttle so heavily The cpu is an i7 7700HQ, I can provide HWINFO screenshots if needed. Thanks in advance for all the help

I own a dell g7 7588 with i7 8750h and gtx 1060 max q . A lot of people are facing problem with this laptop , some regarding thermal throttling other regarding power limit throttling . For thermal throttling you might need to roll back or rest windows if your frequency drops to 800 mhz . Then use throttlestop to reduce max frequency to 2.5 ghz . you might be able to play games smoothly . now the real problem is power limit throttling . here i noticed while gaming with throttlstop off , my fps dropped and it showed power limit throttling in intel xtu ,so i downloaded hwinfo and monitored both gpu and cpu tdp and then i actually found the real problem with this laptop . IT isn't thermal throttling but the power distribution is equal and quite less then it should be , Both cpu and gpu ran at 30-32 tdp while the rated or required tdp for gpu is 70 tdp and for cpu it is 45 tdp . then i again turned back to throttlestop with 2.5 ghz to check why it ran games so stable . This was because cpu TDP didnt go beyond 20 giving more power to gpu which ran at 60-70 watts . So my question is how to solve this power problem.

***Fx504gm only*** 1) Uninstall Intel XTU 2) Downgrade to bios v201 (search yourself for the downgrade method) 3) Now, you can stress cpu + gpu with cinebench and furmark at the same time without 25w power limit throttling (not sure in gaming) Attention: hibernate your laptop will cause 25w power limit throttling (reboot to fix it) and... thermal throttling still present About gd/ ge? Don't know, maybe same logic with gm (downgrade to oldest bios) FX504GMAS201.zip

I've had this issue for a while now; randomly my laptop will suddenly cap CPU usage to 20% (~0.5Ghz) and stay there for minutes at a time. I only have this issue on Windows 10 as when I used Linux the issue was not prevelant. I also have found that none of my programs are the issue as even when I reformatted and created a fresh Windows install, I still encountered this issue randomly. The only useful piece of information I've found is that in Intel XTU I get notified that my laptop is Power Limit Throttling. I tried various things to fix this, followed various guides, but I still wasn't able to find a solution to the issue. If anyone knows what this is about, PLS HELP *Laptop is from 2016 and has not recieved any significant bios or other driver update since 2017, and this issue is relatively recent (~3 months)

Hi guys, so lately I've been experiencing huge Power limit throttling on my Dell Inspiron 7577. I've tried everything that I could find on the internet, but nothing seems to fix my problem. It all started while I was gaming. After 15 minutes of gaming, my CPU started PLT. Now the issue is happening even on idle, and I don't have any clue on how to fix it. So far I've: undervolted my CPU and GPU disabled Turbo boost let my CPU run on only 98% at all times through Advanced battery settings Deleted every DPTF driver and changed ownership in C:/Windows/system32/driverstore/filerepository of every DPTF and ESIF folder, so Windows can't install anything there changed settings in Throttlestop - Disable and lock turbo clock limits, unchecked disable turbo, bd prochot and SpeedStep and enabled Speed Shift Cleaned any dust out of fans. Nothing seems to help me. I would be really thankful if someone has any idea on how to fix these issues, because they I driving me nuts, since I cant even use Microsoft Word without PLT. Thanks for your answers. Sorry for my english Hi guys,

Hi guys. So I recently got a new laptop with an i78750H. When I run a stress test on it It goes up to 70C (72C max) and after like 20 sec I get "Power Limit Throttling". The CPU should go up 4.1Ghz but it gets up to 3.9Ghz and start going down cuz of the throttling. There is any fix for it?

Hello everyone. Is the throttling normal? The laptop is on latest bios version 308 and both cpu & gpu drivers are up-to-date.

Hey guys, I'm facing intense power limit throttling in Dell 7577 gaming laptop. Specs: i7 7700 HQ; Turbo boost up to 3.8 GHz. Nvidia 1060 Max-Q 6 GB VRAM Intel HD 630 256 GB SSD, 1TB HDD Windows 10 build 1803 I've handed over the device to dell support many times and they weren't able to resolve the issue at all rather than forcing a clean install of OS every single time and declared that they fixed it. The Temps are under control and i ran the Task manager and intel XTU to monitor the CPU-GPU performance graphs. Turns out every time the GPU utilization goes up to a higher number, the CPU frequency throttles down to 0.8 GHz. for a period of 10 to 18 seconds. It's really annoying that everytime this happens, the FPS for games (PUBG,Witcher 3 , CS GO, Warface ) goes down to almost 8 FPS and the audio starts distorting into a soundpop routine. I've been strolling through a lot of forums and wasn't been able to find a fix for this problem at all. Undervolting and thermal repaste seems to quiet down the issue for a bit but its not permanent. Some say that the windows build 1709 started messing things up but I'm still not sure about it.For some, removing the battery for 10-15 seconds seems to do the trick but i tried that and its BS. Is it going to be fixed with a BIOS update? Any of you out here experienced the same issue and found a solution please help me out. Thanks

Hey! Im kinda new to this tweaking with hardware stuff, and im looking for some advice! Because termal, current and power limit reasons i recently undervolted my cpu an intel i5 7200u. Managed a nice and stable -0,100mV but currently only running at -0,90mV just so i have some stability headroom. The termal and current limits are completely gone, but even now sometimes with non demanding tasks, browsing etc i still get power limited. Not to mention when i game, using cpu and igpu, (no need for my dgpu) im almost constantly experiencing power limits, and probably thats why i have fps drops. Id like to ask some questions. If -0.105mV on the cpu is not stable is it okay to run at the last stable -0.100mV, or should i leave some headroom? I might go with -0.95mV just to reduce the potential reasons to power limit. I've tried to undervolt my iGPU as well. So upon further testing, -0,30mv seems stable, yet the igpu stuck in p2 stage at 300mhz, even though right after undervolting it was correctly boosting up to 1 ghz. What gives? (This has happened at -0,20mV too but i thought XTU was acting up, so after resetting everything then applying the undervolt again, everything seemed fine so i went for the -0,30mV) If i manage to undervolt and keep the P3 state on the iGPU my further questions: What is the usual limits for iGPU undervolts with this igpu? Just so i know how much i can undervolt. Also what happens if i undervolt too much? It was pretty obvious that if i undervolt the cpu too much the system just flat out crashes, but whats up with the igpu? Do i lose just the display and i have to hard reset the pc or it will BSOD too, or it will get some artifacts? Or i shoulndt even try to undervolt the iGPU? Edit:It might be when the display goes black, to save power, when i wake up the system, it wont go into p3 at 1ghz. Not sure though, but i need to restart my laptop in order to be able to use my igpu to its fullest potential. Edit2:Okay seems like ive figured out why it doesnt boosts up to 1ghz. Whenever windows turns off the display for power draw reasons(you are idle for x minutes) after waking up the system, it wont boost up. But if i put the system into sleep mode, then wake it up, everything is fine. Is there a way to solve this, other than turning off the "turn off the display after x minutes"?

hey guys, i cant understand if this drop in performance is due to power limit throttling or temp throttling. a few minutes into the test, the 'power limit throttling' signal turns to 'yes' and then then performance drops, but that happens as soon as both the temps of gpu and cpu reach a particular point. i've tried undervolting but that didnt help. this really makes gaming horrible, because i start with 50-60 fps on warframe (with intel xtu running in the background), then PLT turns to 'yes' and i go to 12-13 fps. i'm considering repasting the cores but idk if that's gonna make any difference since the problem seems to be power related. any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

Recently my laptop is facing current and power limit throttling. Sometimes the power is showing plugged out and plugged in again when using charger . I tried every possible fix I can do from internet. I tried repasting, Undervolting, changing with power limits, increasing power limits, checking with another same charger with same ratings but nothing worked. Later I went to service center and they told to replace motherboard. They told something regarding with power and motherboard should be replaced. im thinking if it just the power IC problem, can it be replaced? Laptop is ASUS GL-503GE I5-8300H 8Gb ram GTX 1050Ti

I have a asus rog zephyrus m gu502v which has the following specs RTX 2060 Intel core i7-9750h(Coffelake) 16 gb ddr4(single channel) 1TB SSD Still my graphic card even in turbo mode gives very poor performance, I get huge frame drops playing fortnite and hardly get around a 100 fps while playing. My friend with a gtx 1660ti and a core i5 laptop gets consistent 144 fps while gaming. I've tried undervolting and overclocking my gpu but I still don't even get consistent 80 fps. I started riva tuna while gaming and noticed that my cpu was hovering around 90-95 degress celsius while gaming.I tried undervolting my cpu as well but the temperatures did not change, and while I was stress testing my cpu in XTU I also got to know that there's also a problem of power limit throttling and current limit throttling. My package tdp reaches 45-47W while stress testing which is the ideal supply needed for a core i7 even so the power limit throttling still persists. Please help me get higher and consistent fps and reduce my cpu temps

When playing games for 20 minutes and more its starting to get power limit throttled. Sometimes current limit throttled. This happened from past month. I am using a under volt of -0.125 v from the beginning of this usage by testing benchmarks and so. And this charging cable was patched (i don't know whether the problem is this or not). Reinstalled the OS, re pasted, under volt don't know what to else. sometimes current limit throttling appears. very rarely thermal throttles. What must be the problem.

Hi all, I recently found out that Intel DPTF kills performance on ultrabook CPUs with the dumb thought process that "85C is too hot to touch on an ultrabook, but 70C is A-Okay", and with my laptop that uses an i5-8250u which needs a measly 25W of power to get to full 3.4 Ghz performance across all 4 cores (at ~80C), DPTF seems to think 8W 800 Mhz (~65C) is better anytime outside of the 30 sec short turbo boost. That makes the difference between 32 and 60fps averages in games. [Apparently some laptops come with power plan settings to configure the levels of DPTF, but mine didn't] After finding this out and uninstalling the "Processor Participant", I found out it reinstalls itself pretty frequently, and I read that because of that, people recommend changing the write permissions of the folders it uses, C:\Windows\System32 & C:\Windows\System32\drivers, but that didn't sound right to me. Am I mistaken in thinking that taking off write permissions for the folders would keep other drivers from installing/updating there as well? Is there a way to keep specific drivers uninstalled without modifying the permissions for all of them? If it helps the specificity, the only part of DPTF that needs to stay uninstalled is the Processor Participant which uses WdfCoInstaller01011.dll and dptf_cpu.sys, though the other "devices" of DPTF use the CoInstaller as well, so I'm not sure if that's necessary to keep deleted. Anyone have input/advice?

So, quite frankly, I have a very annoying issue with my CPU. Whenever the turbo boost enables I get power limit throttling wich leads to very bad performance in CPU heavy games like BF1. When I used to get 60+ FPS, I now get 20-40 FPS, wich is barely playable. Graphics settings don't matter, there's virtually no difference between the lowest settings and the Ulra 1440p. The GPU is being bottlenecked, working about 40% in Star Citizen. I've had this problem since the windows update last spring. At about the same time I installed a new 256GB Samsung 850 SSD. However I don't think that there should be any problem with the SSD, I should have plenty of power available in my PSU. I've already set the CPU to performance mode in the windows settings. I noticed the power limit throttling in the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, and when I disable the turbo boost, the power limit throttling is gone and the CPU can actually acces more power without it (with it on, it never has the chance to go over about 16 w of usage before the throttling comes in and it goes down again). The only problem is that I'm left with a slightly crippled CPU wich only goes up to 2.7 Ghz, wich really isn't enough for the games I play. I might build a new computer soon, utilising the GPU, RAM and storage from my current, especially if I don't manage to resolve this issue. I might want to wait for the 10nm intel architecture though and that'll probably take a while. Whatever, I'm getting off topic. Anyways, I'd like to resolve this issue. The computer in question is a pre-built Lenovo Ideacentre y700-34ISH. Specs: -GTX 1070 8GB -16GB DDR4 1600 Mhz Memory -256GB Samsung SSD (C) -1TB HDD -256 Samsung 850 SSD (Wich I added myself) -i5 6400 2.7Ghz (3.3 Ghz turbo boost) stock cooler -Some random lenovo motherboard I'm far from an expert when it comes to computers, I just know some basic stuff I need to know to play games etc. I am also fairly limited when it comes to bios settings in Any help is appreciated! Just ask if there's any information I missed.

Hey guys,i found out this issue have cost me tons of trouble when gaming, productivity etc... My Cpu was i5 7300 Hq,base clock 2.5ghz,Turbo up to 3.5ghz.... But everytime when im gaming,my cpu downclocks to 1.8~1.9ghz which is causing fps dropping n audio lag trouble I tried undervolting cpu, undervolting gpu, disable Intel turbo boost...its just kept coming back after 5~10 minutes of gameplay, which is annoying AF! I posted a photo to show WTH is going on... From photo u can observe that there's no thermal throttling... so can anyone help with this? im so frustrated right now
