Hi, I recently bought a SCPH-50004 PS2 with a matrix modchip. This is my first ever experience with burning any games tho, idk if I'm doing something wrong or if the laser might just be trash, since I didn't have any way of testing it since I don't own any real PS2 games. What I did was to download a PS2 game ISO and then burn it onto a x16 speed DVD-R at x8 speed using ImgBurn, now when I put the disc in the console I can hear a couple clicks and after some time the clicks will stop, after some more time the console shows a disc reading error. anything im doing wrong or what is it? grateful for any help I might get cheers

What are these symbols after the mastering code?? Do they have any meaning??

So simply put i decided to play my collection of ps2 games after couple of years... The problems is last time i know where my ps2 is stored is like 2yrs ago and my house definitely get reconstruct and rearrange couple times since then Ok so to the main problems can i just "plug and play" my upcoming ps2 (which I'm planning to buy a new one) into flat screen tv with components cables? Is there any tips and tricks i could use? I technically have a crt tv but that was in the living room and was the only tv my family have (i know sound kinda weird) and I don't want to play with interruption of my family member also trying to use the tv

Hi I bought a used PS2 controller off eBay last year and noticed a gap on the side of the controller. I tried tightening the screws inside the holes but there is still a gap. One screw is missing on the top right. I got a screw from my broken PS2 controller and tried to screw it in but no matter what it would not screw in. First photo shows the gap and second photo shows the hole for the screw (it’s missing a screw), the other photos show the holes with screws in.

This game apparently requires some stupidly insane amount of processing power to run on anything other than the PlayStation 2. But like, how much is truly needed? Is there any laptop that can run this game? Am I basically screwed unless I get a PS2 or a backwards-compatible PS3? Did modern hardware improve enough to where mid-range gaming laptops can run this game? Were the reports of needing an extremely high-end system bogus and/or outdated? Also, I don't need to play this in HD. This game originally ran in 480i. Though this game may not work with hardware rendering and may require software rendering, effectively making any resolution higher than 480i a no-go.

Found my old playstation 2 along with some other childhood gems yesterday.I Tried to play the ps2 games on the ps2,but "disk read error" popped up. I also tried a playstation one game and it seemed to work for some odd reason.Also I tried a near-perfect condition dvd movie (star wars new hope) and it ALSO worked. Of course it being super dusty I raided it with the compressed air duster and tried to open it up to get to the insides,but I did not have the right screwdriver so I blasted the fan vent a little to loosen up some dust.(I used ps2 games that were in the best condition possible with some minor surface scratches.)So I bought a cd/DVD lens cleaner disk at the local Walmart and then popped it right into the playstation 2,to my avail it had a "read error"(wth).It was supposed to do audio tests and run a cleaning cycle for ten minutes ,but I could not get to that due to the read error.Now I know some solid state lasers on old consoles are dying ,but this is like 10-11 years old not sure if it Can someone help me? EDIT: Also threw in an empty DVD-r with no data on it, still not working, also ps1 games still work.

Trying to connect my PS2 to the internet through my router. I keep getting a -611 error. I've tried broadband, LAN, auto and manual, but no luck It seems to fail during the DNAS authentication.

I recently received an old Coca-Cola themed Playstation 2 controller (of which the wire is cut off) and am trying to make it connectable with USB. I found some cheap adapters for rewiring dualshock 2 cables to USB that claim to be plug-and-play, however here it is shown that these cables are very different to USB. Do these adapters work, how do they work and what are possible problems about them?

Hey guys I need your help Should I sell my PS2 and buy a graphics card in the 40-50 $ I get from it for gaming and if yes then which card should I buy, I saw a listing on ebay of GTX 970 for 45$ should I buy that I want to play fortnite,pubg, and other similar games and ofcourse new AAA tiles My current pc specs Pentium G3258 DDR3 4gb Gigabyte H81 MS rev 1 400watt power supply A big case And nothing else And should I upgrade my pc And I am also thinking of over clocking my cpu or should I buy new cpu and upgrade my ram and my budget with selling PS2 is around 115$

Hey guys, With inspiration from Luke's Fallout 4 Bomb Shell build, and my own desire to build a smaller computer for my television, I'm considering trying to throw something together inside a older console case. I loved my Playstation 2 as a kid, and it would be fantastic to see one under my TV again. I'm not looking to do any kind of gaming, I just want a machine that can browse the web, stream Netflix or YouTube. I don't think it'd be too difficult to get parts to fit inside a fat case like the Playstation 2, but the only issue that comes to mind is finding a power supply that'll fit and still run the machine. Anyways, what do you guys think? And as always, thanks for the help.

Probably a year ago, I became more and more interested of the PS2's inner workings. I don't know why, so don't ask. I'm incredibly curious about it, how it works and how games take advantage of the hardware. As of recently, I became aware of the PS2 Tool, which I think was have been involved in developing games for the system. Unfortunately, it's hard to obtain. For some reason, I want to play around with the PS2 development tools. Badly. Not sure why. This has led me to wonder if maybe it's possible to create your own through combining a modified PS2 system with a modified Pentium II 266 or Celeron 566 system. It would be difficult, if it's even possible. I know the PS2 Tool had a lot of manuals that explained the PS2's hardware in detail, and I would love to read them. I wonder who has actually created homebrew games for the PS2. Not PS2 Linux games, actual PS2 games, like the big name titles. I wonder if it's possible to use a PS2 Tool or modified PS2 in conjunction with a computer to develop games, even simple ones. I don't know what kinds of answers I'm looking. I want serious details of the system, because I'm just so bloody curious, and I can't help it. I know it sounds weird. I am weird.

Not long ago, I got a PS3 to add to my small video game console collection, mainly because it was cheap and I wanted to play Gran Turismo. It's a model from I believe 2009, so it does not have any backwards compatibility with PS2 games. It's not a big deal, because our PS2 system is completely functional. I'm curious about playing PS2 games on the backwards compatible PS3 systems. Would the output video quality of the PS2 games be higher quality, as long as it is used with an HDMI cable? Would PS2 games that support HD (Like Gran Turismo 4) play in HD?

Raw Danger seems pretty unheard of. It's a disaster survival game for the PS2 where you play as 6 characters. Am I the only one on this forum who has played and/or owns the game? It's actually a pretty good game, if you ask me.

I've been messing around with the PCSX2 PlayStation 2 emulator for a long time now, since about 2009, but I have never been able to get it to run games acceptably. I figured that once I moved to my laptop, which is much more powerful than my previous computer, it'd probably play better. Unfortunately, the difference in PCSX2's playability between the two systems is not much different. For example, the comparison between the two is in the attachments below. If you're interested in knowing my laptop's specs, those that are important to PCSX2's performance are in the attachment below. ↓ Anyhow, the general performance in most PS2 games I try is all the same in that they have extremely fast menus (way too fast) and extremely slow gameplay. It's not laggy, it's just slow, like slow motion. This might be a problem related to my processor's base clock of 2.3GHz, whereas PCSX2 wants a clock of at least 2.6GHz. I tried PCSX2 on my HP Compaq dc7600 which has a 3.0GHz Pentium 4, but as expected there was no improvement in PCSX2's performance, especially since the Pentium 4 is a single core and that computer lacks a dedicated GPU, whereas my laptop, technically speaking, has two GPUs. One is dedicated, that's for sure, but I don't know if the APU graphics processor would be considered to be dedicated, even if it does have an additional 512MB of dedicated video memory. I've tried messing around with all of the emulation settings and the DirectX settings but I only see very small differences in performance and compatibility with the vast majority of my games. The only game I've been able to really get playable was Scooby Doo! Night of 100 Frights, and as you might expect the performance was still a bit iffy, being slow or fast in some areas, but for the most part rather playable. All the other games I try however, are unplayable. Does anyone have any suggestions? As I said, I've tried a lot of emulation settings and nothing really seems to improve for the bulk of my PS2 games. Yes, I do have an actual PS2 that works perfectly fine, but I want to try running games in emulation because more than often I'm interested in getting them to run on my computer. It's just a fun little thing.

I'm looking for an old game for the PS2 that I played a long time ago. Thing is, I cannot remember the name. It's literally always on the tip of my tongue but I just can't remember it. Let me try and describe it: It's a game where you have a car (everything is futuristic) and you pick up weapons that are mounted on the front left or right of your vehicle. You then use those weapons to try and destroy your opponents, obviously. It isn't racing - it's like a "showdown" game. There are a number of maps, which range from small to medium then to large. There are three specific maps that I remember - one small, medium and large. The small map was like an ancient Maya style map, the medium was an airport map and the large was a space station map. There's more maps, but that's all I can remember. There might be an aircraft carrier map too. If I recall properly, each vehicle you could choose was paired with a character, like Power Drome and Destruction Derby Arenas. Also, if I recall properly, the gravity was low or low in certain maps and the control setup was a little odd, in that the brake and gas controls were for some reason bound to different buttons compared to most other driving based games. For some reason I keep thinking of the game as being called Power Drome, but Power Drome is a completely different game, which I have. I'm really sorry that I can't provide much else for details, but I want to try and see if anyone else may know of this game. And, even though the description I gave is somewhat similar to Rumble Racing, it's not that one. But I do know that this mystery game is similar to Rumble Racing, Power Drome and Destruction Derby Arenas in certain aspects.

Hi everyone So I do already have a USB to PS2 controller adapter, but the store that sold them doesn't sell them anymore (they had their own name on it, so I can't find it anymore), and I want another one so I can play with my friends. So the question is simple, can you recommend a good, but cheap USB to PS2 controller adapter, and one where you can plug two controllers in would be nice. I live in Denmark, so links to EU stores would be preferred. Thanks
