Hello! I used a building guide from LTT to build a matx pc in a BitFenix phenom case back in 2014. I’m however not able to find it on the channel. Are some videos eventually removed from the site? I find it a bit weird, since I see that several builds that are older are still there. Are anybody able to find it? It would be very appreciated!

Hello, I've recently looked into reviving my old, unused for a couple of years now, system. The mobo is GA-M56S-S3 from Gigabyte (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-M56S-S3-rev-1x/support#support-cpu) and when I looked up the compatible CPUs for it I was quite surprised to find that according to the list of supported CPU-s I can fit a quad core in it. I'm most interested in a Phenom II X4 955, since that looks like the most powerful chip I can use, and it's quite frankly dirt cheap and plenty for what the system will be doing. Problem is the deal I'm most intersted in is one for a Black Edition (unlocked) of this chip, which is technically rated at an 125W TDP, as opposed to do 95W of the standard version. And that is not supported according to the list. I suppose that does make some sense since overclocked chips need more power which the mobo in question is unable to deliver. Here's the question though, will the BIOS lock me out of using the unlocked version? And while we're at it, perhaps I could actually go for the more powerful Phenom II X4 975?

Ok it appears that on CPU-world website I compared the FX-8370 of mine with a Phenom II X6 1090T, Ryzen 5 3600X and i5-9600KF, what surprised is there seems to be FEW NEW INSTRUCTION SETS POST BULLDOZER / PILEDRIVER... In other words anything from Phenom II era or older may lack some new ones but FX and later is still good even now in 2020? The only new ones is AVX2.0 and TSX one of the two is a proven failure and does anything even use AVX2.0 not work with regular AVX? If all is good with AVXthen why upgrade for any other reason than performance lacking?

Where should the intake and exhaust be? I cant find out where the dust filters are also.

One day, I decided to bench my i7-5820K clocked at 4.4 GHz on air using CPU-Z and I got some results, listed below. Obviously with a beast like the 5820K it should ideally be water cooled, but I got the thing on black friday and water coolers weren't on sale, so I was left with the Hyper 212 EVO. Cringe all you want, I know it is torture for the poor CPU, thermal throttling under max load, cooking itself to death, but worry not, I will eventually find adequate cooling for it; for now I lowered the thermal throttling temperature from 105 to 85 degrees Celsius, which is as low as the BIOS allows. But I digress; I had a billion PCs collecting dust in my room, so I decided to bench them using the same portable CPU-Z on a flash drive. Processor Single Threaded Score / Multi Threaded Score (all threads) Intel Core i7-5820K 4.4 GHz 1.3v on all 6 cores, 4.2 GHz 1.3v on Cache (I think that is also called Uncore, correct me if I'm wrong), with HyperThreading Enabled 1986 / 13246 AMD Phenom II X4 830 (non black edition) 3.36 GHz 1.25v (that is the readout CPU-Z gave me, if I had to guess this chip should run at least 1.45v stock) on all 4 cores, everything else is left on automatic (HyperTransport, etc.) 677 / 2032 AMD FX-6350 4.0 GHz 1.4v (CPU-Z readout, I'd lower this to 1.35v for a 100 MHz overclock) on all 3 modules, everything else left on automatic (voltage, etc.) 355 / 1462 (notice how shit these scores are) and for shits and giggles, I benched a budget laptop sporting the AMD E2-3800 1.3 GHz (yes, you read that right) 1.075v, since it is a laptop, no overclocking was possible. 366 / 1033 (notice how this is better than the score above) I left notes in parentheses where I want to focus you attention on. As you can see, the FX gets rekt by even the cheapo $300 laptop I bought a few years back, what's the big idea? In one of my previous posts, I questioned why my FX-6350 was running so cold under 100% load, peaking at 45 degrees Celsius or so. The most common answer was that my motherboard for the FX-6350, the MSI 970A-G43, had weak power delivery. For comparison, my i7-5820K is installed on an ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7, which has "12+1 power phase" whereas I could only count up to 5 (or 4+1) on my MSI board. My Biostar TA790GX 128M (not the TA790GXM 128M) used for the Phenom seems to only have 4 (3+1) phases and still manages to destroy the FX-6350. Basically what I am saying is that I am pretty confused as to why the FX chip performed the worst out of all. I took the single threaded scores and divided them by the clock speed (I am pretty sure that is NOT how you measure IPC but it is just for the sake of comparison) and got 451/GHz for the i7, 201/GHz for the Phenom, a staggering 88/GHz on the FX, and a whopping 281/GHz on the E2. The question is why does my FX chip perform so poorly? Edit: While I am at it, I looked at the references CPU-Z gave and the i7-5930K at stock speed performed just as well as my overclocked i7-5820K. Knowing that they are both the same chip but with different amount of lanes, why is it that my i7-5820K is performing worse than what essentially is itself? Bumping up the clock speed to 4.5 GHz makes the system unstable but it does push it over 2000 marks on single threads, so I know how it scales; basically my 5820K is performing worse than the 5930K by the GHz. Some explain?

I have a system with a Phenom 9850 running at 2.9ghz that I'd like to set up for my younger brother to play games. Wondering if anybody could suggest a GPU that would pair well with it, something I could pick up pre-owned that would be minimally bottlenecked by the old phenom. Thanks.

Okay so i Just upgraded because you guys said i needed a new goddamn platform I got AMD Phenom ii X6 1055T CPU Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Board XFX 450W ProSeries PSU 2GBs of RAM (ChromeSux right now) Upgrading soon HD 4830 @ 700MHz ( A little bellow a 7770) unfortunately i can't run DX11/12 only games (BF1) Basic Case I paid 135 ish for my build so i think it was a rather good value. I dont want to max out every game. I just want the most for my money. What do you guys think? (Also im running toothpaste until i get some thermal paste) )

So I'm currently trying to build a mini-itx rig for my room cause I don't have a lot of space. This is not my first pc build but it is my first itx build and my biggest concern is airflow right now. I've been trying to look for a decent GPU with a blower style fan for rear exhaust but the results I keep coming across are way out of my price range. My question is are there any good blower style gpu's out there for less than $200 or would I be better off getting an open air gpu and try water cooling? I would do fans but I'm sharing a room and trying to keep noise down. Any advice is appreciated!

Hello everyone, The Bitfenix Phenom m-ATX case. It looks amazing, and it's small and clean, but i DO have some questions about it. My main concern is that i have no clue what i'm doing with this case, so uhh... help a brother out? :3

So I recently came home to see my cpu frequency @ 980mhz on msi command center. I freaked out because my frequency is normally at 3.8 mhz constant WITH oc genie enabled. My guess is that my computer restarted and let oc genie enable its self overclock.... BUT why is it underclocked below stock mhz??? Is it a form of "turbo boost" or some other amd technology? Itll boost back up to 3.43 mhz when under load but during idle it sits at 980 mhz. Weird.

Ok so im planning a new build just because i paid an incredible price for mine and i found some even better deals. HOWEVER i have a big problem. My beloved first upgrade has stabbed me in the back. I got a good quality 450W PSU with 33A in the 12V rail. But i found a 7970 With a Phenom ii X6 a motherboard and 8gb of ram for what would be about 120 us dollars doing some quick conversions. My question is can this little PSU handle this system? I intend to be doing just very mild overclocking (CPU 2.8 to ~3.2 and the GPU to 1GHz.)

Guys, 2 of my friends have X4 965 and X6 1055t respectively. I have an AM3 mobo with an Athlon X2 260 which i use for casual work and stuff but i game on my i7 4770. now. both my friends are upgrading and i can get one of those cpus for my am3 platform. now my question is that will the X6 1055t outperform the 965 in Vulkan and DX12 games ? and which is better overall. which is more futureproof ?

System Specs: CPU: AMD Phenom x6 ii 1055t CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 evo Motherboard: msi 890fxa-gd70 Power supply: Thermaltake ToughPower 750W GOLD Modular Power Supply Graphics card: r5 230 2gb (I know its sad) SSD: Crucial M4 512 gb Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (2016) Ram: Corsair XMS3 ddr3 4x4 Userbench Link: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/5400246 So, i want to overclock my CPU to squeeze some more life out of it before i have to upgrade. So far i have gotten into AMD overdrive and the maximum frequency i have gotten is 3.206 GHZ stable. My voltage seems to be really low but when every i increase it my system becomes unstable and freezes. Also what would be the highest end graphics card that wouldn't be bottle necked to an unreasonable level. Gtx 1060 maybe? Thanks to anyone who helps! (IDLE Temps) (Load)

Ohk here is the problem:My games are sputtering and crashing to no signal on multiple set ups and gpu'sI suspect it is the 990fx chip set. Reason is i tried an asus m5a990fx revision 2 pro(that was replaced 3 times) and an evoWith the old parts new parts and two diffrent versions of windows. Diffrent drivers etc. But the catch is my cpu was missing a grounder, could that have damaged it. um then why is the other motherboard i put my gpu on it sorta does the same thing. Then when i put a diffrent cpu on my board it won't crash but still exhibit issues

Ok so I have: - Phenom II x4 955 at 3.8GHz - AMD HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 - Gigabyte GA-770T-D3L (which is in horrendous shape) - PSU 500w which is not a no-name (can't remember the name right now, but it's decent) - 8GB HyperX 1866 MHz RAM I wanted to buy RX 470 and was wondering how much of an improvement would I see if I plug it in into this system. I want to upgrade to Intel platform but doing so would cost me 300+ euros which I don't think I'm willing to do right now. Not to mention that I have Thermaltake V3 or V4 with Noctua NH-D14, I don't even know how this PC survived this long. My mobo survived 2 lightning strikes do to me having ADSL and not unpluging my phone jack during storms, it fried my onboard ethernet and audio so I am using 2 PCI-E slots and my BIOS is bugged and I cannot access it I mainly play WoW, CS:GO, H1Z1, Overwatch and stuff like that. Currently in WoW I cannot play in a raid setting with a preset of 1 without my FPS going lower than 30, and in Overwatch i feel my mouse floaty probably because of FPS drops, all settings low render scale 100%. Motherboard still works

I have had the computer I use today for the longer chunk of over 6 years. It was immensely powerful when it was new, rocking a brand new Radeon HD 6950 and Phenom II X4 CPU, but times have changed. I recently upgraded the forgotten HD 6950 with a brand new GTX 1060. Games started to perform better and I was happy. I knew that by purchasing this GPU I would experience bottlenecking in many games, which was okay since I didn't have a large library of games. I have now begun to be interested in many more higher end titles, which requires performance that I simply do not have. And here is why I have come to the LTT forums; Due to (Ry)Zen's release coming soon to the market, I was wondering whether to upgrade my old powerhouse of a Phenom to a newer Zen CPU, or if I should invest into an older Haswell i5. I have comprised a list of various pros/cons between the two, but I haven't truly decided which I consider to be more valuable. (Note: I am not very interested in overclocking at this moment in time) Haswell i5 Pros Strong single core performance Cheaper Does not require updated RAM/Motherboard Provides enough power to surpass playable framerates in new titles Cons Older Fewer 'Creature Comforts' Sub-$250 Zen Pros Newer Strong single core performance Cons Requires a new RAM/Motherboard (+~$200) ^Much more expensive I am assuming that with my current situation, I will gain the most price/performance by simply going with the older Haswell i5, but I would like to hear the communities opinion about what I should do. (Current Specs includes Gigabyte GeForce 1060 3GB, AMD Phenom II x4 975, and 8GB of DDR3 Dimms) Note: First post on forum :b I dont know "forum etiquette" quite yet.

Hey guys, i'm thinking about upgrading my GPU to a Gtx 1070, and i was wondering if my Phenom II x6 1070T is going to bottleneck it too much. Any recommendation is welcome, GPU you think i should get instead, or CPU that would make the cut for the 1070.

Hello everyone. Look, I have a problem here. First, I have a Asus Aura 970 pro mobo and i try to put an cpu FX 8350 and the pc do not start and the VRAM led is on. Now when in this motherboard i put other cpu like Phenom II the pc is start w/o any problem when i change the cpu with 8350 or 6300 the pc don't start i tryed with other rams and other rams( all ddr3 ) other PSU and nothing I tryed with other version of bios and nothing I TRYED WITH OTHER MOTHERBOARD LIKE CROSSHAIR V FORMULA -Z and i have the same problem in all mobos the fx cpu's 8350 and 6300 work well in gigabyte GA970 mobo. Thank you

I am just wondering what voltage my cpu should be at for 4.1 ghz because it hard crashes my system if I go to 4.1ghz at 1.404v where as 4ghz works perfectly at 1.404.

hello all my cpu fan stops working after a couple of seconds, but my pc is still working fine, i can play games and all other stuff, the fan runs for a second and then stops and repeats the same i did not run the computer for long because i can see that the cpu temps were rising rapidly crossed 80 degree i made sure that the fan it self is fine by connecting it to the case fan header, my cpu has no bend pins i tried different ram sticks different psu reset the bios removed the motherboard from the case to make sure that the case is not shorting any components still the issue persist these are my specs . amd phenom x4 955, gigabyte ga78lmt usb3, corsair 450 psu, adata ddr3 1600 ram please help?
