So after initially replacing this monitor a bunch of times after I bought it due to pixel defects, I finally got a good one. Now, a little over a year since I've had it, I'm running into an issue where the screen flashes/flickers at 144hz. I've done all types of troubleshooting: replacing displayport cables, rolling back drivers, turning off g-sync, nothing works. The only thing that fixes the issue is dropping the frame rate below 144hz but then I get blurry text. I didn't have to look far to find that this is a common issue with this model. I already contacted customer service explaining my situation and asking them to replace it with the refresh since I had given this model enough chances, to which they replied they don't do model exchanges. I'm sick of running into issues with this monitor; how can I get Asus to fix this without sending me another broken model? Here's a video I took of the problem, hopefully you can make it out: https://youtu.be/hIFzwuBNMMM Here's another guy with the same exact problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Syow...el=LucasBurson He says in the comments that he had to keep RMA-ing before Asus sent him the newer model and he hasn't had any issues since. I just want to skip the bull**** and start with the solution that has the least likelihood of failure and one that'll waste less of my and Asus' time...

Sorry for my bad english I got a Asus PG278Q for my 2nd monitor and I'm using it to play my games on PC. I thought I could use my PS4 pro with it but there is no HDMI plug on the monitor but i got a Display port, USB 3.0. So i bought a HDMI to display port cable, but it doesn't work on my Ps4pro but work with my PC. My Question: Can I buy something to make my ps4pro and my monitor work. If yes is my PS4pro will upscale to 2560X1440? And is there a splitter that i can buy because i want to switch between PC monitor and PS4? Thank you (again for my bad english)

I have recently bought an asus rog swift PG278Q. However the set up is white and black With this in mind the RED LED of the light in motion on the base of the stand is an eye sore. Has anyone managed to change the color of the LED, if so how?

Hey guys, I saw Linus' build where he put his PC in the data closet and transferred I/O through a thunderbolt cable. I am wondering if anyone know if this carries the gsync signal? Specifics I am connecting 1.) GTX 770 Display Port to 2.) ASUS Thunderbolt EX 3 to 3.) ElGato Thunderbolt 2 Hub to 4.) ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q Right now I just connect the 770 right to the monitor with displayport and everything works find, but I am wondering if introducing the hub and asus adapter will cause issues? Thanks!

Need help! I just recently am getting weird artifacting (like a croma colour split on my display) that happened about 10 mins ago. Is it over heating, bad cable, or a dying display? Here is a video example:

Hello fellow geeks, I bought a Macbook Pro 2016 with Touch Bar for studies, work-related stuff and some video editing. I do however love gaming so I also have a gaming rig with a Asus ROG PG278Q as a monitor. Now I am trying to connect the laptop to a screen so that I can avoid having to buy a new monitor just for the Macbook. I tried buying a HDMI to DVI-D cable but unfortunately the screen just stays black with no feedback. I tried some googling for a while now but decided to go here for information since you guys have been a great source of information for me during the last years and I really appreciate the work you do. Is it anything I am missing here as to why this cable won't do the job? What kind of cable do I actually need to get this to work, if it is supposed to work? Even though the HDMI solution have a fix the max resolution will be at 1080p which will limit my computers capabilities so I'd prefer another solution if possible. Also, if there are solution to avoid jumping behind the screen and switching cables every time that would be awesome as well. Thank you in advance, and this is the monitor I am talking about: https://www.asus.com/Monitors/ROG_SWIFT_PG278Q/ /Viktor

Hey guys,so i've had my asus pg278q monitor for a while now(about 1.5 years I think),and the past few months ive been having some problems with it,the thing is i have a duel monitor setup and my PG278q usually loses power if i have my entire system shut down for some time, like i play at night and then comeback the next day in the evening and when i try to turn on my pc my pg278q wont start up so i have to pull out the power cord and put it back in several times till the monitor starts up,i've tried changing my spike buster, but it hasnt fixed the problem, the monitor dosent power off when im using the pc or playing games only when i turn off the full system and like 10-20 mins have passed, its really annoying as it takes me 5-10 mins each time i want to start my pc cuz i have to dick around with the power cable,im thinking i need a new power cord but i can find any here in india,i was thinking maybe i could get the specs for the power cord and get a similar one off amazon india.Idk what to do,need some help on this. Also i dont pull out the part of the cord connected to the monitor only the part connected to the plug point

As i was normally using my pg278q, the screen started to become white. In seconds, the whole screen became white and after a while it became grey with red green and blue pixels all over the screen and some darker grey patches on the bottom. The display of the screen after that is static, doesn't change or flicker, same grey screen with rgb pixels all over and grey patches. I tried to connect to another input(via the displayport), completely remove the input, restart the monitor but nothing changes. The monitor is out of the warranty so i get no help from asus. Is there any fix to this or anything i can try? If i don't fix this monitor it means i have a useless broken £600 monitor and my gaming experience will never be the same because i will have to downgrade to a 1920p 60hz monitor. Please help!!!!!

So after months of research I finally pick up a GTX1080 and a PG278Q. I am returning this monitor as it has faint horizontal lines and what seems to be called "inversion arifacts". Basically sometimes the image looks super pixellated when in motion - totally negating the 2560x1440 resolution. I chose this over the PG279Q because I did not want to deal with backlight bleed / IPS glow. As of right now, my only option is using my old 1920x1080 60 hz monitor as I can't find an acceptable alternative. Are there any monitors out there that are high refresh rate / resolution that simply work and don't have some form of deal-breaker? Am I better off waiting until something new comes out?

I have a decision to make, and thankfully it's a technical one. I'm deciding between 2 different 2k monitors. The only difference between the two (That I can see at least) is one achieves 144Hz and one does 165Hz. The price point difference is 100 USD. My question, given my provided system configuration (See below) is if I'll be able to actually use the 165Hz with the PG279Q. If not there's no point in spending the extra dough. Thanks y'all, as always. i7 6700k Nvidia GTX 1070 (Founders) Asus Sabertooth Z170 Mk1 16GB 2133 RAM

Guys i need help my pg278q has a weird problem im not sure if its overheating or wether it got damaged during shipping but i bought it from Newegg open box about 1almost 2 weeks ago. The day it recieved it i installed it and when i went to work my mom threw away the box i didnt really cared much. the day after i took it to my friends house because the monitor has display port not hdmi i dont have anything to test it on so i went over to his house and after 20-30 minutes the monitor starts flickering and has a lot of lines and squares and the screen slowly goes white, we tried turning the screen on and off and it worked for a few seconds then it started doing the same thing again, we left it off for a good 40 minutes and turned it back on and works good as new but then again the i know the problem still persists. Any suggestions or probable fixes to it? Will it be the motherboard or display cable? Also the box didn't come with a warranty paper or manual so im not sure if asus would accept it and im aware newegg doesnt accept returns or exchanges without the original box i can try and contact them and explain because I really dont want my 560$ to go down the drain. Any help would be highly appreciated guys thanks.

Dear forum members, I'm planning on upgrading my rig with a GTX 1080 in the near future but after reading some stories about bottlenecking I was left with some questions. Most of the bottlenecking topics are on about 1080p 144hz, but I haven't been able to find any benchmarking at 1440p native paired with the aforementioned CPU/GPU combination. Can you guys help me out here with some more or less solid numbers that I can work with? Thanks!

I am using the PG278Q monitor connected to my Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 390X graphics card using the stock DP cable shipped with the monitor. My system specifications are as follows: Processor: AMD FX-8350 (8 Core processor) Graphics Card: Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 390X Motherboard: Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 Operating System: 64-Bit Windows 10 Home Despite the advertised premise of the monitor of delivering easily alterable refresh rates thanks to a physical "Turbo" button at its back, I have sadly only experienced the contrary using it. I quickly learned that button does not switch between refresh rates at all when I press it, regardless of the current refresh rate or currently running games, and the only way I have found to do that is to use the display adapter properties window of my Windows 10 OS. However, that window currently lacks the option to set the monitor to run at a refresh rate higher than 120Hz, specifically 144Hz. In an attempt to solve the problem of setting the refresh rate at 144Hz, I explored many similar threads throughout this forum and the internet yesterday. I also looked into my "AMD Radeon Settings" program and its "AMD Radeon Additional Settings" window to find no option of solving the problem and to discover the monitor is reported by it to have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. In addition, I tried lowering the resolution from the maximum 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and lower values offered in hope to be able to select a refresh rate of 144Hz, to no avail. To my dismay, I have been left with the impression the simplest means of solving the problem would be to use the AMD Radeon Settings Custom Resolutions tool, which I would like to avoid if there exists a solution better than using it. I would then highly appreciate any help in solving the problem. Gratefully, Aviv

I'm curious whether LMG accounts for the reliability of previous versions of a product in their reviews of new ones? I think you should. I was surprised to see the very positive review of the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q after everything I read about - and experienced with - the 278. I'm on my third 278. I didn't send two back over a dead pixel - I sent them back when the monitor became completely unusable with heavy flickering/flashing of the display. This particularly affected strongly contrasted areas like white text on black backgrounds. Both monitors died the same way, each a few months after arrival. (Nothing about my setup or environment is weird - e.g. it's not hot here, normal hardware, in fact I'm using both an ASUS motherboard and graphics card.) I give ASUS full credit for standing behind their product - they sent replacements twice. And somebody is always going to have really bad luck with a product - maybe this time that was just me. But what I read online indicates this is a very common problem for people with the 278. The second support tech I spoke with at ASUS seemed familiar with the issue, but didn't provide an explanation. At PAX Prime I spoke with someone knowledgeable about the monitors in the ASUS ROG area who said these failures were common - the NVIDIA GSYNC modules were overheating. I know you don't know me from Adam, and can't react based on my experiences alone, but I do hope LMG is listening to their viewers and taking manufacturers to task over product quality. A product review can, and should, take the reliability of the product's predecessor into account. I would have liked to have seen some mention of these issues - and ASUS's response - in the 279 review. As a buyer - one whose purchase was influenced by LMG reviews - I want to know about issues like this. Both manufacturer support - and product reliability - really matter. Thanks, P.S. I hope this is correctly placed here under Displays - if it would be better under reviews, please feel free to move it. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Okay, I've got a dilemma and need some assistance, 2 questions: A) Would this system be able to run 144hz stable on every game with 3x1080p B) Opinions on which monitors to get I will be building a new system soon, consisting of: Dual msi 980ti seahawk, i7 (5820k or 5960x, still deciding), 16gb hyperxfury 2666mhz, samsung 950 pro 256gb and rest is unimportant, For this setup, would 3 1080p acer xb240h monitors be better, or a single 1440p asus pg278q (all have 144hz and gsync) This is all for gaming, some productive work. Games consist of pretty much anything that is released (mobas, mmos, fps, rpg)

Hi guys, Right now, I'm using this monitor and I want to change it. I have a budget of about 700€ (~760$) and I can't decide between these 5 monitors : asus pg278q dell p2715h dell u2715h dell u3415w lg 34um95 I absolutely want at least 27inches, and 1440p but can't decide between 21/9 and 16/9, and curved or not for the ultrawide And I don't really mind thick bezels, but absolutely love the sharpness of the u2715h's bezels Thanks

Going to keep this one simple. For my upcoming project, I plan on getting triple 1440p monitor. The prime candidate was the ROG swift. Is it worth waiting for the price to drop on the PG279Q to £700 or just go with triple PG278Q's.

Hi guys, I am using two 980 Ti cards in SLi and I did a clean install (using the DDU uninstall in safe mode) of the latest drivers. I have Windows 8.1 running with latest updates. I am not sure what is causing this issue, where the monitor seems fine for the first few minutes on 144Hz, but after a bit of clicking around, moving windows, etc. it starts flickering like crazy. Here's an example video of someone who had similar issues: It's exactly like that but just a LOT more frequent - say about 10 times per minute? I have GSYNC enabled, SLi is running and resolution is at 1440p. The flickering stops the moment I bring the refresh rate down to anything between 60 and 120 Hz. Anyone else has this happen to them? This is weird because I used the monitor for a week or two without issues before on 144Hz so I am not sure if this is a driver issue. I want to make sure if anything needs to be changed or do I ask for a refund/replacement from Amazon? Thanks! E

So I am looking to get a new 1440p 144hz monitor now that I have upgraded my computer to be able to play games with good frames on a 1440p monitor. Now I'm really trying to decide between the PG278q and the MG279q($669 vs $579 respectively) so between TN vs IPS, Freesync (i have a Nvidia card so it wont be usable without hacks) vs G-Sync, and 1ms vs 4ms response time. all for about a ~$90 difference in price. So i do play alot of FPS so the faster the response time the better, but a 3ms response time difference doesnt seem like it would be that much of a difference and I wonder as to how much I will even be able to notice it (im currently playing on a 5ms response time monitor so either is an improvement). For IPS vs TN im not a super stickler about color accuracy and viewing angle stuff (I'm almost always looking directly at my computer monitor and not from odd angles) so this doesnt matter much to me here. and then G-sync vs Free-Sync ( for freesync i would essentially get nothing as i am not likely to make my GTX work with freesync). So really is 1ms response time (3ms response time difference between the two) and G-sync worth ~$90 for me to get the pg278q over the mg279q? Im really quite torn and I know it comes down more towards my own subjective biases but any input at this time to sway me one way or the other would be great. PS: my budget is around ~$700 so the pg278q is at the top while the mg279q is a ways below and any money I save on the monitor here would just go towards future computer upgrades but I am perfectly comfortable spending $700 on a monitor.

I have the ASUS ROG PG278Q 1440p 144Hz G-Sync monitor which worked just fine until yesterday. When I started the computer, I noticed weird behaviour in my mouse movement and game performance. It seems like the well known Vsync lag is there when I just browse the internet or when I'm on the desktop. So I used Fraps to show my FPS ingame and it showed me that the refresh rate was at 143 FPS, not at the usual 144 FPS which I always saw there til yesterday. I tried turning G-Sync off and on again but that didn't work. It seems like the missing 1 frame kinda messes up the smoothness of the monitor. It is especially annoying since it also affects the mouse acceleration. Does anyone have or had similar problems or any idea how to fix the G-Sync of this monitor?

So I'm coming up on a new monitor purchase now, and although the XB270HU is just starting to come out I think I still want last year's ROG Swift. Mainly because of much better looks (what were Acer THINKING when they put such a jaw dropping panel in exactly the same enclosure as monitors half the price?!), slimmer bezel and $130 off the cost of the new Acer. Have read that the TN panel is really a great one, and I've never had an IPS display so I suppose I won't really know what I'm missing out on anyway. Lots of people had poor experiences with the ROG Swift when it came out though though. Monitors dying after a few weeks etc. coupled with terrible RMA experiences. Since this monitor is quite a few months old now, does anyone know if its issues have been ironed out? What I've read online about crappy Swifts is the only thing stopping me from getting it now and holding out for the XB270HU.

I recently purchased the Asus ROG Swift monitor for my first build, but I'm not getting a signal. I haven't received my graphic card yet, so I'm connecting it to the DP port on my motherboard - Maximus VII Formula. Things I've tried: 1. There's nothing wrong with my new motherboard because I tried the HDMI cable and connected it to my TV, and it works and that's how I installed the OS. 2. Its not a damaged monitor, because I plugged the DP cable to my parents' all-in-one HP ProOne 400 PC and the display works. It probably has to do with some setting, so please help. I'm not really good with these things.
