Hello, so I recently came across computer problems. I have since then done chkdsk, sfc /scannow, crystal disk and hd sentinel to check for my ssd health. I reinstalled windows and as for the ram, I have used passmark for my RAMS and it tested passed. I had a 240 gb boot drive and a 120gb for games, and I noticed that my pc had frequent mini freezes. I changed my boot drive using the 120gb one and the 240gb one for the game drive. The drives in crystaldisk shows that they are good and the tests like chk dsk and sfc/scannow have no problems but I still have the issue even with the new OS installed. The 240gb drive was in a 91% condition in crystaldisk but I want to make sure if it has problems, so, is there a software like passmark where it will test and diagnose the drive in an extended set amount of time? I'd prefer if it is a free software too! Thank you very much!

I frequently check PassMark's Single Thread Performance list for new CPUs, because it is more important for games than multi thread performance. Alright I'm going to try to make this short. Usually when I make hardware changes to my pc I run passmark Performance test to just verify everything is running as I expect. I recently upgraded my ram, CPU, and MB but the GIGABYTE B650 AORUS Elite AX motherboard I bought had a terrible coil whine so I ordered a MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk and I'm going to return the Gigabyte board (haven't yet). The new issue is my GPU, a 6950XT, is now scoring much lower in 3D Mark compared to the test I ran using the Gigabyte board. It's even lower than my previous set up with a 5600x and a b550. Here are the images of all the benchmarks. You can see the MSI B650 3D Graphics Mark score is much lower and I can't seem to figure out why. Benchmark with MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk: Benchmark with GIGABYTE B650 AORUS Elite AX Benchmark from a few months with the same GPU with a 5600x and MSI b550: Everything I've tried: Taking out the GPU completely and putting it back in Updating the BIOS Ensuring Resizable bar and Smart access memory is on like a dozen times Verified EXPO is on multiple times Reverted my GPU driver to 23.4.1 Reinstalled all my Motherboard drivers Disabled the iGPU in the 7600x Additions: Verified PCie is x16 Gen 4 Verified RAM is in Dual Channel slot 2 and 4 Verified CPU, GPU, and Motherboard power connecter are well connected I might try swapping out the to the Gigabyte board again to see if it persists but I work from this PC so I'll probably wait til next Friday before I go through swapping boards again. I'm just hoping it's something like a BIOS setting instead of me seemingly getting two defective boards in a row. If anyone might have an idea on how to fix this it would be be amazing. Hi! So I build a bnew gaming rig, after successfully making it to post, updating drivers and software, I run Cinebench, Heaven and Superposition benchmark, temps and outputs are running good, until I started playing valorant. 1st my pc wont boot yesterday, I tried removing 2 RAM and it booted and works perfectly then I switched all their position and put all 4 RAMs and it successfully booted. I thought there will be no problem, but today, while im playing valorant, I experienced sudden BSOD. I decided to check my RAMs using Passmark Memtest 86, and this is the result.. Can someone translate what are the errors i encountered? I'm trying to search for the error codes but sadly i cant find any.. Thanks for the assistance! I'm a flight sim and VR enthusiast and have been working on a system to squeeze out every frame of performance, especially for Flight Simulator X (an old, un-optomized resource hog of-a-program). Have a Gigabyte z170x UD3 motherboard, 32GB Corsair 2666Mhz Ram, Nividia 1080 TI Graphics Card, 1200w power supply, Windows 10. Started with a 6600K CPU a few months ago overclocked at 4.6 GHz. System ran well and Passmark score was above average but was having some instability issues at that frequency (I'm not a OC expert). 4.5 GHz was stable but wanted an extra kick so opted to upgrade to a 7700K for a little extra head-room. Installed the CPU without issue but Passmark scores are lower than expected. Should be around 12220 but I'm getting about 11246 (stock). If I overclock things improve but still not where it should be. I loaded 'optimized defaults' in BIOS (and made sure it's up-to-date), made sure memory is running at 2666Mhz, and made sure Windows power mode is set to performance. I also tried a clean install of Windows. But so far, still lagging. Was curious if it was the motherboard being a 170 vs 270 but reading a few forums, people say that shouldn't matter. What kind of problems would slow a CPU in this way?

Hi guys, I wanted to know if you had some ideas about the passmark baseline a cpu need to handle a 1080p/30fps (3k5 to 5k bitrate) stream ? And what about 2 streams on the same build ? Like on a Ryzen 1700. Allways about this CPU, can he transcode via Plex a 4k movie with a good quality ? Not perfect but still good ? Thx in advance, Jérémy (a frenchie).

I was looking around on passmark and noticed that this pc (in image provided) had an extremely high score, beating out threadrippers with 2080ti's even though it had an old i7 and a 1060. I then noticed the cpu frequency of 11ghz. Is this an error or some overclock that has surpassed all others.

Has anyone noticed that a lot of the CPU benchmark scores on Passmark have changed significantly. For the past few years the i7-4790k (almost 6 year old CPU) has always had a score around 11,000 and for some reason this week it has dropped to around 8600 as of March 5th, 2020. That's a 22% difference compared to the scores that have stayed the same for almost 6 years, I took a screenshot from Wayback Machine in December 2019 to show the difference. This is kind of frustrating because I use this a lot when comparing CPU's in my customer's PC's with newer ones to rule out whether or not it's worth upgrading older hardware. Any thoughts on this? Does anyone know if Passmark has changed their benchmarking algorithm lately that might be affecting this? I also did notice there seems to be a much higher score difference (22%) with 4th gen and older Intel CPU's, and only a 4%-15% difference with newer gen intel and AMD CPU scores. I have recently benchmarked my new light gaming and editing rig in both Cinebench R15 and Passmark. I get a 1400 in Cinebench which is really fantastic, but I can barely pull a 8100 on the Passmark CPU test whe i should be getting around 11,000. I have two 8gb sticks of ddr3 non ecc ram installed but it passes every ram stress test I can throw at it. My motherboard is a SuperMicro x8dtl-if. Any thoughts on what might be the issue?

I recently overclocked a 6700k to 4.6GHz and have been getting lower scores on Realbench compared to stock speeds. I've checked temperatures and they're fine, with a max of 72C at times. Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening? Other benchmarks like Passmark and Cinebench have given my substantially higher scores after overclocking, but not Realbench. Test scores are below. Realbench: 125,717 @ 4.0GHz vs 120,873 @ 4.6GHz PassMark: 11,509 @ 4.0GHz vs 12,882 @ 4.6GHz (2440 vs 2679 single core) Cinebench: 885 @ 4.0GHz vs 991 @ 4.6GHz (181 vs 198 single core)

So I have a 980 Ti and for some reason I get really really bad scores for PassMark, and I'm not sure why. The card handles 4K gaming absolutely fine, but absolutely blows in benching. My CPU is at 4.8 GHz so I can't imagine that is bottle necking it, I don't understand whats wrong. I get the same results in PassMark 9 Beta so its not the version. I'm in the 100th percentile for every other category except 3D. Anyone have any idea of what could be causing this? I'll attach a photo of my clock speeds and bench results.

Maybe you can actually make an informed choice when buying hardware; You know, to maybe save some dough by comparing performance to prices... Using the dreaded method of comparing benchmark scores. My go to place recently has been Passmark ( https://www.passmark.com/ ), now many of you will probably be face palming or rolling your eyes, muttering about how Passmark results are not accurate. The reason I like Passmark is because its simple to use... This is also the reason I use it. It is really only price that makes me ultimately choose my hardware. So jumping onto Passmark and being able to use the find function of your browser to quickly jump between models suits me. Not only that you can scroll up a little and see if there is a model just a little higher that may be worth a look. Seems like a good way of working? No? Well I spent a little of my day today looking up (google'ing) benchmarking, I read some posts on various sites talking about various benchmarking sites. I have since read a couple of posts saying that Passmark is not a good choice. But. What is? - Suggestions ranging from cpuboss, 3dmark and anandtech, etc. Now I know enough to understand that processor benchmarks differ on the most part. Like Intel having the higher instruction per clock and AMD having generally more cores. This is excluding other CPU features and the benchmark setup its self... I suppose maybe, I'm trying to find the ultimate authority on hardware performance when there is none. What is the best way of comparing? - Not even for just gaming systems, would there be a method to compare all types? - How do you do your comparing folks? - Let me know.

Hi guys, Me and a friend of mine are working on a school project in which we're measuring speed difference before and after overclocking. The pc we're using is a Dell Optiplex 760 with very basic specs. Something along the lines of a 2-3 ghz dual core, 2 Gb's of ram and the rest of the basic stuff. Now we're wondering, what would be a good benchmark to check results of overclocking this cpu? The benchmark should give clear results and shouldn't be too heavy (Let's be honest, this isn't truly a gaming rig). I did some research myself and found PassMark / PCMark 8. Are these good options, and what other options are there? Suggestions are very welcome. Thanks in advance ~Sozakir
