From the album: Personal Build #1

I have an OCZ PCI Express 1TB Revodrive Hybrid storage solution I bought a decade ago. I struggled then to learn why it would sporadically crash my OS as my boot drive; no dice then. Five years ago, I was purchasing precious stones to make a ring for who is now my wife; to study them when they arrived, I bought a jeweler's loupe. Today I was researching 1TB SSDs and I thought, "You know, it would be nice if I could use my OCZ hybrid drive," or at least to know why, once and for all, why it refuses to stay stable. Then it occured to me, I always looked at the software and hardware interactions, but I never bothered to look close up at the device itself. So, I got out my jeweler's loupe. What did I find? I believe it's a missing resistor in position C214! This would explain why it would work for a few hours, days, or weeks and then just crash; because it would be fine as long as it didn't attempt to interact with the NAND flash associated with that resistor. If this is the case, these are my options as I see it: A) Figure out what type of resistor it is, find a replacement, and hire someone else to solder the new resistor in place (I don't have the equipment) -Pros: It could be a permanent fix to fully restore the device, a process that is simple to accomplish in theory -Cons: Finding the chip, doing the procedure without spending more than it's worth, potential permanent damage (Longtime LTT fan; I know what could happen.) B) Figure out some way to disable or halt the controller's access to or use of that NAND flash chip -Pros: Potential monetary cost is $0, no risk to physical damage, and theoretically I could start using it right away -Cons: Uhhh, is this even possible? Is this a software fix or would this too require physical manipulation (please no!) C) Some other option that someone out there can bestow upon this thread? -Pros: Could be better than both A and B -Cons: It could be another issue entirely! A solution may not exist, but here I am... I don't want to waste the money I spent years ago or the silicon I have now. What should I do? Please help me.

Like I mentioned in other posts, I'm going to buy a gaming PC, but I'm trying to find the best components according to my very, very tight budget (U$D550). Well, I need an SSD for the OS and a few things more, but they're too expensive in my country and the cheapest ones that I found are the OCZ TR150 and the WD GREEN, both 120GB SATA, which one is better?

So it's been quite a few years with this psu. Noticed lately the fan Is getting quite loud. Idle isn't too bad but under load it's the only thing I can hear from the pc. Have a few options and wanted some opinions. I have a 2000 rpm noctua and some corsair fans sitting around. I have some extra cables to use so I'll only be cutting the old fan for its harness. So wire ire a new fan in and run the signal back to a mobo fan header so I can monitor the rpm, just for the heck of it. Or straight up run the whole wire to the mobo. Or get some sort of replacement fan basically requiring no mods. Its an ozc 1000 watt. Forgot the name of who bought them out. Fire storm or something.

Hi guys, I want to know is it better to put two 120gb ssd raid or one 240gb for build. I am thinking of latter upgrade maybe after one year. This refers to new build. PC will be used manly in gaming and internet surfing. OS, steam, bf1, cs go, world of tanks will be installed first then other games will probably be bought after buying 1tb hdd. I want to know will there be performance difference between these 2 options and what should I pick. I am thinking about these drives 120gb edition or 240gb edition: https://ocz.com/eu/ssd/tl100 Thanks!!!

So little question, my friend is selling me OCZ Revodrive X2 - 240GB SSD very cheap , but it's pci-e so can i use it on this motherboard? asus p6t Se?:)

I've included a picture of the version of OCZ VT180 that I'm looking for in a 240GB capacity. It's this version specifically that I'm looking for to put in the front SSD tray of my S340 Elite. Any help would be appreciated because the only version of this I've found so far has been a 960GB variant.

So I recently bought a Dell Vostro 3559. It has a mechanical hard drive. I have bought a OCZ TR150 240 GB SSD. I want to replace the HDD with the SSD, but without doing a clean install. What is the best way to proceed? Also is there any problem with transferring an OS partition from a HDD to an SSD?

So, I've been planning on building a new PC, I was going for a setup with SSDs only and I mentioned that I would pick the OCZ VX500 due to their High NAND Endurance and 5 Year Warranty. However, nearly every person suggested that I avoid OCZs all together, because they are faulty and tend to break... So is this a rumor or not? and does it apply to a specific model of OCZs drive or is it a quality thing with the manufacturer... If so, what are some other alternatives for the same price and with similar High NAND Endurance? mind you the system will be mostly used for graphics, editing and 3D work Here are the basic specs compared to the similarly priced 850 EVO: 850 EVO – SAMSUN VX500 - OCZ CAPACITY 500 GB 512 GB PRICE $165 - NEWEGG $155 - NEWRG MC 3D V-NAND MLC MTBF 2,000,000 HOURS 1,500,000 HOURS ENDURANCE 150 TBW 296 TBW WARRANTY 5 YEARS 5 YEARS I would like to hear everybody's opinions... Thanks & Regards,

Heya, I'm building an office PC for my parents (build: http://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/qs8Cr7, note that there is no HDD since they're going to use a NAS for general storage), mostly used for AutoCAD and PhotoShop. I was giving a look at some 240GB SSDs, and the OCZ TR150 and Samsung 850evo turned out to be the best in therms of read/write speeds (TR150: r550/w520; 850evo: r540/w520). The SSD will be used for both the OS and programs. In therms of price the TR150 is €30 cheaper, which is saved money that could go towards the NAS. Cheers.

Soo I have a bit of a problem. My power supply seems to have bit the dust, but because of a stupid failsafe that I thought I fixed. So long story short, the fan died on it. And because of the way this power supply is set up, (OCZ evostream 600w), it won't power on without a fan connected. I was planning on just replacing the fan, but opened the PSU up to find out that the fan was soldered on to a secondary board. And the soldering is SUPER fine... So I grabbed a fan connector y splitter, cut one of the ends off and tried to solder it to the board. I destroyed the traces in the process and have now rendered the power supply useless... Here's where it gets annoying... I MADE custom cables for this power supply. I bought it for $20 from a friend with only a 4 pin CPU connector and a molex connector from it. (Its a modular power supply.) So I have a about $100 worth of custom sleeved cables for it sitting in my computer now. TL:DR, I need help either finding another of the same power supply, finding a power supply with the same connectors on the PSU side as this one, or some way to find parts for this power supply to replace the entire secondary board. I can provide photos or links if needed. Thanks guys!!

Good day to everyone! I am experiencing something that i have not seen in my years of computing, and would like some advice if there is any, cause I can't get my head around this problem. Well I upgraded my PC with a new Power Supply (Corsair RM650i) from a (OCZ Fatal1ty 550W).... I decided to upgrade my cousins PC with my Power supply, so then I can donate a much better Graphics card. Rebuilt the PC using the OCZ power supply and the newer gpu, and the system does not post, I have literary tried everything, PC speaker, replug everything, check every component individualy, starting the PC one less component connected at a time, using the old GPU, different ram, everything. Then I thought I fried the PC, but connecting the old PSU the pc starts up easy, and I tried the OCZ power supply on my main pc where it posted and booted fine. It's kinda like the Motherboard rejects the power supply and does not want to run with it, in my years I have never heard something like that, so I am wondering if there is any magic to get that beast to run? The main specs for that PC is as follows: CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz Quad core Motherboard - ECS G31T-M7 Revision 7.0 RAM - 3GB DDR2 GPU - AMD Radeon HD5450 1GB (planned upgrade is GTX580) PSU - Some Generic "Codegen" 400W PSU (planned upgrade is OCZ Fatal1ty 550W) P.S. If there is any more information needed, let me know Thanks.

Which one should I choose? OCZ Trion 150 240GB ($70) Crucial BX200 240GB ($70) Crucial MX300 275GB ($80)

Hey guys! So, here's the thing. I remember the OCZ Trion 100 series of SSDs being fast and inexpensive, but disgustingly unreliable. However, OCZ came out with new budget SSDs earlier this year, which are known as the Trion 150 series. So far, I've heard that these drives are more reliable than their predecessors...much more, in fact! What do you guys think? What've you guys heard? Is the Trion 150 budget SSD worth getting, or are the budget SSDs from PNY or another company better? Thanks for the help! --TechStorm

Hey, I've been looking to buy a new 960GB OCZ TR150 and i saw that they have oler ones and newer ones with slightly different specs and looks but under the same branding. I was wondering if the new one would be that much better in performance or durability or if they're basically the same drive. Older Version Specs: Max sequential Read speed: 550MB/s; Max sequential Write speed: 530 MB/s; Max Random Read: 90,000 IOPS; Max Random Write: 64,000 IOPS Endurance: TBW (Total Bytes Written) 240 TB; Daily Usage Guidelines of 219 GB/day Next generation Toshiba 15nm TLC NAND Flash & Toshiba Controller Technology New Version Specs: Max Sequential Read: Up to 550 MBps Max Sequential Write: Up to 530 MBps 4KB Random Read: Up to 87,000 IOPS 4KB Random Write: Up to 83,000 IOPS MTBF: 1,500,000 hours Next generation Toshiba 15nm TLC (Triple-Level Cell) NAND flash Toshiba controller technology Thanks

Hi i got an olz OCZ modx stream pro 700W Tested it with a multimeter and shorted it and it seems to be working because it was giving out the correct voltages. A computer store near me said that it wasnt working. Any recommendations for testing?

Title^^ Is it worth buying a more expensive ssd drive like Samsung evo and hyperx savage etc. , or look for the better value drives like Crucial and OCZ or even other brands? For example Samsung evo 250GB in my country is 100 euro. and Crucial 270GB is 85 euro. 20 gigs more for less money The difference in write speed written on the specification is 20mb/s in favour for the evo.

So my old man was having a whinge his computer kept booting to a black screen. Turns out his SSD with windows 10 on it has decided to vanish into thin air! It's an OCZ ARC 100 480gb drive. What's happening: Turn computer on from cold, starts booting windows 10. forever. never ending. Restart computer, SSD vanishes completely from bios and boot menus and won't boot windows (doesn't exist). Tried unplugging all other drives (HDD, DVD & usb drives). Nothing helped. Taken the SSD out of his PC and plugged it into my computer, booted MY windows 10 and it see's his drive fine and can access everything on it no worries. Try booting HIS SSD on my pc and once again it loads windows forever. Restart and it vanishes again. Any ideas?

I just purchased a OCZ 600w power supply. The OCZ EvoStream 600w. Say what you want about the power supply, I really don't care I got it free. The problem is this: The guy that gave it to me only had the 24 pin cable, and three molex cables... This is the cabling end of the PSU: http://techgage.com/viewimg/?img=/reviews/ocz/evostream_600w/ocz_evostream_07.jpg&desc=OCZ%20EvoStream%20600W I need to get a CPU cable and PCI-e cable for it. Both cables are just male end to male end of both connectors... But I can't easily find them. Any ideas? I don't want to spend $30 on custom cables, so if that can be avoided that would be great. And I don't mind colored unsleeved cables. Thanks guys!

I am planning to get an OCZ Trion 150 480 gb ssd and was concerned with the limited 3 year warranty, and its low price tag. Anyone have one or know anything about it? And if it isnt good are there any better ones in the same price range? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, My PC build has a red theme, but my OCZ SSD has a blue graphic on it. Here is a photo of my build for reference. I was just wondering what's a good idea to change the blue to a red accent and help it fit in. Any ideas would be awesome, thanks!

Topic. I plan on getting an OCZ TRION 150 SSD, but I would like to know if theirs are any good. The only reason I'm considering them is that I'm strapped for cash and would like something to help Windows boot faster.
-
I would like to know about its reliability, as I am thinking of upgrading to it from my Samsung 840 Series SSD and a previous OCZ drive I owned 3 years ago had failed after 6 months of use...
