So I need some new fans and I've found these two (Noctua NF-F12 Chromax - Corsiar ML120 PRO RGB) but im not sure of which one to choose. Currently I have my AIO placed in the front of my case with fans in front of the AIO but I also want some on the back of the AIO. Which one of the fans listed would be better and by how much? Im leaning towards the Corsair one cause of the RGB but if the Noctua one is way better I might go with that one, fan noise don't really matter to me.

Hey LTT For a while now i wanted to lower the temps on my GTX 1080ti From Asus and didn't want to go with a AIO on the GPU, it is the OC Strix version with the triple fans. You can do this mod yourself if you have 2 decent 120mm fans. I used 2x Noctua NF-F12's This will not void your warranty unless you break something your self, so you don't need to break/remove any stickers but all you need to do is remove all the small screws that are holding the shroud and fans in place. This is not going to be a tutorial but just some results i got. Before=with the stock Asus Strix cooler After = with the 2 Noctua fans. 24C ambient temp Noctua Fans are locked on 80% = 1150rpm and they are very quiet, only at 100% they get noticeable for me. Before max temp: 73C After max temp: 64C 5Hours of gaming. mainly PUBG,why PUBG? because it's actually a very realistic test and the game is not easy to run at high frame rates. CLICK HERE for screenshot. Before max temp: 71C After max temp: 61C Zip ties were used to secure the fans, this was very easy to do since there is a metal bracket on the heat sink to secure them to. CLICK HERE (album) For all the pictures i made along the way I don't mind the look actually but the stock Strix cooler is nicer if i'm going to be honest. in the end it was worth it, i'm very happy with the temps and how quiet my system now is under full load. If you're going to do this yourself you can expect about a 8/10C Drop. (depending on the Fan Quality and rpm's you use and Case airflow helps allot to) Let me know what you think! Hello! First of all, I apologize for lumping all my questions into one thread, I just didn't want to clog up the forums. My biggest issue is that the temperatures on my cpu seem to be slightly higher than normal. I've been overclocking lately, and I've reached 4.2 ghz stable at 1.113 volts, but I can get higher frequencies stable quite easily. The only reason I can't is because of my temperatures. I'm running a h100i with Noctua NF-F12s in a push-pull setup, with the fans currently maxed out at around 1500 rpms. My idles are in the low 40s, and as soon as I run small ftps in Prime95 or stress fpu in Aida64, my temperatures skyrocket to the low 90s. I feel like this is higher than normal, even though I know the stock fans can run 2000+ rpms, but since I'm running push-pull with higher quality fans I feel like my temperatures should be lower. My second issue is with my custom fan curves. I'm currently running 8 fans in my case, 4 for the push-pull radiator, 1 more intake, and 3 exhaust. I have 4 fans plugged into the motherboard header, and the 4 radiator fans plugged into the corsair H100i. My fans that are running off the motherboard header I have set curves with in AI suite, and they seem to work just fine. However, the fans I have plugged into the H100i seem to ignore the fan curves I set in Corsair Link. They just run at around 1000rpm, and the only way I can change that is by setting a fixed rpm%. I read online somewhere that there's an issue with the sensors getting directions from two separate programs at once, or something. Is this true? If so, is there a way I can control all of the fans from one of the software (preferably AI suite)? Is there anything else I can use to control them all? Or should I unplug them from the h100i and use fan splitters to plug them all into the motherboard? Finally, I currently only have two 120mm fans in the top exhaust bay of the case, but I would like to populate this with a third fan (or replace these two with 140mm fans) to improve airflow. I would like to have positive pressure in the case, however. I have 3 bays in the front as intake, although 2 of the bays are my radiator (even though there are 4 fans there), my two 120mm fans and a 140mm fan in the back as exhaust. Is there a good way of doing this anyone can think of? How does a push-pull radiator set up affect the pressure ratio? Thanks for all the help guys! Hi, I just bought two Noctua NF-F12 iPPC pwm 2000 fans. when they are connected, they make this high pitched sound. It seems to be related to RPM since when I increase the speed the sound gets "faster" and when I slow it down vise versa. Is this common? I thought noctuas where supposed to have a absolutely silent motor.. I have tested Silverstone, Cooler master Silecio, EKWB Vardar and Be Quiet Silent Wings and none of them emits this noise, and all of them are silent. (except for garbage EKWB ball bearing). Edit: Got this reply from Noctua; I'm afraid that these noises are normal for iPPC fans. These use three phase motors which can be louder than regular motors especially when running at reduced speed.Increasing the fan speed might help though.In case this isn't acceptable, I would suggest that you have your retailer replace these fans with regular beige-brown NF-F12-pwm fans as these are quieter.Best regards,Alexander DyszewskiNoctua support team

Hey guys! First of all, sorry if this is on the wrong category, I think it's correct, but didn't find a "perfect one" for it . So, I decided it's time to upgrade the cooling on my pc. I have an NZXT s340 case, with an i5 4690k and an EVGA gtx 970 ssc. Right now I have nothing aftermarket when it comes to cooling. I'm using the stock cpu cooler from intel, and the two fans that come with the case. I figured I kinda want to watercool my CPU, for looks as well as better temperatures and less noice. My case supports up to 140mm radiator on the top as an exhaust or 280mm in the front as an intake. The way I see it I have 3 options: 1) 280mm rad on the front. In this case I'd either go for the NZXT Kraken X61(170$) or the Corsair Hydro H110i GT(139$), and I would buy 2 new fans for the back and the top of my case (I'm thinking noctua nf-f12(22$), but something with red LED's that is about as good, and not to expensive would be awesome). The problem in this case is that I'd be pushing hot air through the rad into my case, which is not exactly ideal. 2) 140mm rad on top. Here it's either the NZXT Kraken X41(142$), or the Cooler Master Nepton 140XL(87$) from what I've seen. Here I'd buy 3 new fans also I think, replacing the one on the back of the case, as well as adding two in front. In this case though, I'm unsure if the 140mm radiator would perform good enough to justify it's cost. Espesially the x41. 3) No watercooling, and I just go for a Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo(37$) and 4 new fans for all the slots. I'm really confused as to what I should do, as I don't have too much experience in pc-building only what I learnt from youtube and while building my own pc earlier this year. I just want my pc to be a little more silent, and have better temps. (Well, technically it's a BIG "just", since that's what everyone wants, but you know ) Ultimately, I'd love to improve its looks as well and red leds on fans would help alot I think, since my build is black with red details. Any other solutions, or ideas are mostly welcome! I'm gratefull to all help I can get! *All prices listed are prices in my country converted to USD.

Hi! I am going to get the corsair h100i for my PC. The thing is that i want my rig to look cool and awesome, because i got an windowed case. But i also want great performance and want it to be silent. So I have come to choose one of the following fans: Corsair SP120 PWM Quiet Edition and Noctua NF-F12. The Noctua's look really ugly, but it is the best ones. The Corsair's looks super awesome! But they are not that great. I have an Intel Core i7 4770k (No overclocking) that needs to be cooled. I know that the h100i mabye is a little overkill... But I want it anyways! Please help!

I am finishing up a new build and stuck on which fan to go with. I don't know which will be quieter the Noctua NF-F12 PWM (which I know is Linus' favorite fan) or the GELID FN-PX12-15. I use a Noctua NH-D14 cooler in my current rig, and I love it (along with all of Noctua's products). My only real concern is given the NF-F12's price are that much quieter and better then the GELID FN-PX12-15? I want my new gaming rig to be dead silent while on the desktop.

I have a new Corsair 500R case coming. If I find the fans are too loud, I would go with what Linus and so many other have praised, Noctua NF-F12's These are designed for static pressure. Can you use them for intake and exhaust or do you use a different model?

Making this a short to read text and going straight to the point - I'm thinking about buying this : http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Mr.Kamo94/saved/3QNO to be my main setup, for gaming, light editing and such .. can you guys give me some output about my choices in the components and if it's a good choice or bad with whatever component is in there and , also, can i get it to overclock nicely with no heat problems and such. Hi everyone, Last week i bought an H220 and installed it in my system i been hearing a humming, grinding/whining noise since i installed it at first i thought it was pump never had a water cooled system so didn't know how those sounded. But After going thru the check list i found out its the Helix stock fans that it comes with, only at about 600 rpm do they not make the noise anything above it i can hear said noise. Now the noise is a bit weird in it has certain requirements for me to notice it my room door and windows need to be closed( if open can't hear it) if any noise in room music/tv noise is drowned out or if i have headset on I was planning on buying Noctua NF-F12 or Corsair SP fans to replace them eventually but didn't think i would be doing it this quickly. Now my Question is since Corsair would be twice as much as Helix and Noctua three times, would i run into this problem with those fans considering that they are more expensive and in my belief higher quality On another note i have fans connected to a Fan Controller but have connected to Mobo and have same problem with both fans making the noise (i don't know if mention but both make the same noise)
