  1. So I'm a huge fan of physical media, I even collect game discs for PC games, not just consoles, however an interesting question came to mind. So the idea behind having a physical disc at least for me is in the case that the online purchasing of the media is to ever go offline, I still have a physical copy I can install from. When installing Jedi Survivor on my Xbox Series X you can see in the attachment below that is claims just under 3GB on the disk were taken and the remainder was being downloaded. I might just be dumb or never paid attention to it until now, but with game sizes getting huge due to graphical increases, are companies no longer storing the entirety of a game on the disc itself? Has the disc become a type of download code? I certainly hope the entirety of the base game is on the disc for the sake of preservation, but it's not looking like it. Plus I don't know of any discs that can store 100s of GB. Took a cruise through Reddit and came across this discussion It would seem to suggest that discs are just download codes effectively and the only real plus side of them is to have that giant cool looking wall of just endless plastic and discs that you can awe at. Personally I'll keep buying physical for the principle and the awe affect, but I'm certainly concerned about the possibilities of personal preservation endeavors due to this idea. Also, I attached a photo of my console set up if you guys are interested. It isn't perfect, but it works pretty well, plus I have a power strip hooking all the consoles up, so I turn the power strip off whenever I'm not playing. I do this for electrical and fire safety reasons as I have a lot of older consoles that I don't trust being hooked up with power without my super vision. IMG_4434.HEIC IMG_4435.HEIC
  2. As has been in the news recently, Nintendo are currently seeking damages from Yuzu. I really hope this doesn't become a new Gary Bowser situation as it's primary purpose is NOT for piracy! https://www.pcgamer.com/nintendo-is-suing-the-makers-of-the-switch-emulator-yuzu-claims-there-is-no-lawful-way-to-use-yuzu/ https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/27/24085075/nintendo-switch-emulator-yuzu-lawsuit https://www.polygon.com/24085140/nintendo-totk-leaked-yuzu-lawsuit-emulator
  3. Summary Tropic Haze, the creators of the popular Nintendo Switch and 3DS emulators, Yuzu and Citra, has agreed to pay the $2,400,000 to Nintendo over the lawsuit that Nintendo issued a little over a week ago against Yuzu. Tropic Haze has agreed to shut down the production of Yuzu and Citra along with all social media accounts and websites that promote the Yuzu and Citra emulators. The yuzu-emu.org will be handed over to Nintendo as well. All the source code for Yuzu and Citra has been pulled down from Github. Quotes My thoughts This is really terrible. It's one thing to face a lawsuit over your users using your program to do things that they shouldn't (I mean, can you imagine if this sort of thing happened with all programs?), but it's a whole different thing to make the company in question take down all the source code and references to it online. Nintendo, you done goofed. Sources The Verge Yuzu Website
  4. Pardon my French, but FUCK OF NINTENDO!!!! Why are they so Anti-fun when they are a company founded on having fun with family and friends?!! They just wont allow anybody to enjoy GOOD GAMES on HARDWARE THAT DOESNT SUCK!!! The people who spent so much work on Yuzu and citra just have to sit here and watch their work be wasted by Nintendont-have-fun! Nintendo is the worst of the 3 gaming consol/software companies. My list is: Xbox, Playstation, and (lower than EA now) Nintendo!! I want to go on and on about Nintendo, but i might just get sued(Nintendo!!!!!!!!!) You know whats funny is that Nintendo never discounted WiiU virtual purchases or 3ds purchaces of games when they were about to close the eshops for thoe systems? Nintendos website should say: Nintendo "The greedy company that is all about suing people who try to make enjoying switch games better by using hardware we don't! We are the people you HATE TO LOVE. Disagree with us, well ruin your fun!!" Also I would love to hear your opinion @LinusTech!! Dont know if u can tell but im heated. Also all games i played on Yuzu, I bought from Best buy or Amazon in physical copies. I have a whole shelf to prove that i own all these overpriced games that run on crappy hardware. Also keep on doing what u do Linus, You are awespme.
  5. 2024 will mark 7 years since since the Nintendo Switch was released. With the long length of this time period (not to mention the leaks of a new console), do you think we'll see anything from Nintendo about a new console in 2024?
  6. Way back in spring of 2014 I decided to see if it was possible to shove an Intel NUC inside a Super Nintendo Advance fight stick controller. Back then I documented my progress on a now defunct online form and since its demise I've decided that this content might be entertaining and maybe even borderline helpful for someone else who might want to attempt this themselves. At the very least you'll get a bit of a chuckle at decades old tech being turduckin'd into even older piece of decades old tech. I also recently got stuck reading some old NES case builds here on the LTT forums and decided it might be time to repost/update this project. Regardless, I'm bored and waiting for my EK parts order to arrive so I can start documenting my first liquid cooling build... Part of my background is Arcade collecting/restoration and this idea stemmed from wanting something to tinker with as I was building my first MAME cabinet "Flynns Arcade" back in the mid 2010's. (I'm also a bit of a content creator on YouTube as one half of The Canadian Arcade) I'm a HUGE Nintendo collector, some of my arcade cabinets are some of the rarest Nintendo ever made: Sky Skipper, Sheriff, a red 5-slot Donkey Kong to name a few. I had always thought it would be nice to have everything from the late 70's to mid 90's all in one place so I could check out arcade/console titles I may be looking at buying in the future, or at the very least have something cool to collect dust in a display cabinet in my home (spoiler alert). I know I could do this with an rPie, but back then the idea was more about putting an actual on Windows PC into the controller then it was to build something like a RetroPi. Plus RetroPi was in its infancy and we were still all using old laptops and PC towers for our MAME builds. As with any project I embark on, I like to document the images for it on my Flickr gallery found here. There'll be a few more images there if you want more content than whats found here or you want to see some of the other things I've build/restored, (bluetooth speaker in a .50 cal box, my desk project, dozens of arcade cabs, etc). Anyways, on the with project... The idea here is simple: Install an Intel NUC into a Super Nintendo controller, Install windows 7, shell it with Maximus Arcade, and install all of the available and compatible Nintendo Arcade/console/handheld systems into it that the buttons of the controller will support. Basically everything sans light gun games that would work with an 8-way stick and 8 buttons. This includes all titles on Arcade hardware prior to the mid 90's, (DK era and older, Nintendo Vs. Unisystem, Playchoice, SuperSystem), Gameboy, Gameboy colour, Gameboy Advance, VirtualBoy, NES, SNES, Famicom, and Super Famicom, etc. If you're not into any of the world of Arcade history, (or younger than 40), in 1986 Nintendo released a line of arcade cabinets (and cabinet upgrade "PAKs") under the "Playchoice" name brand. These cabinets were an evolution of the Nintendo Vs. System, an arcade platform that mirrored the recently released NES consoles at the time. Basically the idea was Nintendo wanted to bridge the gap between the classic Arcade and your living room, slowly moving gamers from dropping coins into cabinets to being able to sit on your couch and have unlimited access to the games you and your friends wanted to play. Unlike other arcade console ports at the time the Vs. system was a revolution in that the games on its NES console counterpart were 1 to 1 to the gameplay and graphics found in the arcade cabinets. (Actually, thats not 100% accurate, Vs. Super Mario Bros is quite a bit more difficult than NES SMB...). Nintendo sold the benefit to Arcade operators that once you bought into the Vs hardware you could easily swap the titles on your cabinets to a new games in order to maintain player interest and profitability with very little modification/conversion. However A couple years later with Arcade operators frustrated that Nintendo was moving their clientele out of their establishments and into the living room with the NES, Nintendo decided to release one more blow to the industry status quo with the Playchoice. Unlike most other arcade games (Vs system included) that relied on the player to die or loose the game only to need to insert another coin, the Playchoice operated on a game timer where the player could keep playing regardless of skill. This also served as a place where players could visit to test out some of the latest games on the NES before buying the cartridge for home use. The Playchoice was a massive success for Nintendo at the time. As an operator you could load up to 5 or 10 NES/Playchoice titles into your cabinet and players would be able to chose and re-chose at any point what game on the list they wanted to play as long as they had more time on the clock or more coins in their pocket. This was a win for Arcade operators as they could still get the foot traffic and coins into their arcades, A win for players who wanted to try out the latest NES titles without having to buy the cartridge, and a win for Nintendo because they kept players interests/money and kept the arcade operators happy even if they were slowly killing the industry by moving the players to their own living rooms. If you haven't figured it out yet, this is where the name of my project comes from. As a side note, Nintendo would later release a 3 game SNES arcade cabinet in arcades dubbed the Nintendo Super System. I set out with a few design goals: Minimize any kind of external modification to the Advantage controller, aside from power button, I/O. Build using an Intel NUC DCCP847DYE, 4Gb RAM, 120GB SSD, Wifi, Bluetooth, etc. Teensy USB Dev Board to interface the controller to USB. Windows 7, shelled with Maximus Arcade Custom Nintendo Maximus Arcade theme GUI Starting with the controller/PC case, Those of you who are in your late 30's might remember these as one of the two more common fight stick style controllers for the SNES on the market. Made by Asciiware the Super Advantage was designed with the same design language of the SNES, and a followup to the first party fight stick controller the NES Advantage that Nintendo released back in the mid 80's. One of the coolest parts of the Advantage is that it includes a series of button modifiers that allows the user to either "Turbo" or "Auto" each of the L,R, A, B, X, Y buttons, and set a sensitivity setting for each button individually. All of those settings are processed on the gamepad, and will transfer into the PC input. It took me a couple weeks, but I was able to secure a good condition specimen from an eBay seller. I think I paid like $60 for it at the time, which was good because the vast majority available then in the Calgary area were beat to hell. I quickly discovered that it also takes standard M6 threaded arcade ball tops, so I tried a couple different colours that I had laying around, a red one and a bubbled smoke coloured one. I then started the task of tearing it all apart for cleaning... To my surprise and luck, the casting for the controller wasn't at all oxidized like so many of the SNES consoles have become over the years, however the PCB was absolutely filthy. Once I had everything cleaned up it was time to check fitment of the NUC. At that time there were a couple differnt choices of NUC on the market but I decided to go with the DCCP847DYE. This was for two main reasons, it was readily available, and there were a number of fan-less third party cases for it on the market so I could get my hands on a matching thermocouple for the CPU, more on that later.... Next It was time to start modifications of the controller. In order to adapt the Advantage to the NUC, I'll need to cut the console cable (*Gasp!*) and solder in a Teensy 2.0 dev board. The Teensy is a USB-based microcontroller that will allow me to adapt the signals from the controller wires to a usable USB signal. Using an online tutorial (that I can't seem to find now for the life of me) I loaded the Teensy with the appropriate .Hex file and soldered it to the controller cables. For this build I'm going to be using a Crucial 120gb mSATA SSD, a pair of 4gig ram sticks out of an old 2011 MacMini, and an Intel WiFi/Bluetooth card. For the OS I've gone with Windows 7. This PC's main purpose is older emulators so we don't need much horsepower or disk space considering the entirety of the pre-1990's Nintendo library can fit on a single USB drive then (and now). I also briefly tried using a pair of antennas from an old Linksys wifi router, however I didnt want to buy smaller ones and I definitely didnt want to mount them on the outside of the controller. Looking at an older picture in the build album I just realized that the original NUC case had a pair of antennas! So I just went downstairs and dug out the box, (which still makes the intel chime when you open it. Not bad for almost a decade sitting in storage!). At any rate, I might as well update this as we go I pulled the antennas out of the old case and reinstalled them into the build with a bit of kapton tape. Ok, going back to April 2014, I needed to have some sort of power button on the outside. Looking back, I probably should have done some sort of magnetic reed switch or something, but I decided on a simple momentary switch. I wired it up with a couple connectors and some molex micro fit, drilled a small hole in the back of the controllers shell and then wired it all up. Now to the fun part. Unfortunately with the size of the cooling fan installed on the CPU it's not going to fit. However as mentioned before, back in the day there were a series of aftermarket case makers that had a small range of fan-less cases for the NUC and one of them was even nice enough to sell me just the thermocouple. I can't remember who it was, but without this piece (or access to a CnC) it would have been impossible for 2014 me to finish this build. A thermocouple is useless without a heatsink of sorts so without wanting to build my own heatpipe and with Noctua at least a year away from being founded, the best option I had in front of me was the massively thick steel base of the controller. Yes, its steel, not copper or aluminium, so it definitely doesn't have the thermal conductivity of the original case, but then again this is an Intel Celeron 847 so its not like I need to strap an AIO or some elaborate outdoor pool cooling system to it. However I did need to make sure that the NUC was tight and secure to the base, which meant drilling and tapping some mounting holes. After removing the stock cooler, I mounted the thermocouple to the cpu and chipset with some included thermal pads and then mounted the whole board to the controller base plate with some screws I cut down to be the perfect length. Yes, a little janky, but it works, (and has for almost a decade...) At this point I needed to make a decision on I/O. As much as I didnt want to drill a bunch of holes, it was 2014, Airplay was a brand new technology, Wireless charging wasn't really a thing so I was going to at least need power and display out. I started by marking out some holes for the power plug and HDMI ports. In retrospect I should have gone all the way and cut out connectors for the USB on the back, but I still might do that later. For now a wireless mouse and keyboard is only needed when you need to make adjustments in windows as the emulator front end will load on boot and its all controlled by the buttons and stick. After (poorly) carving out the back it was time to wire up the NUC and make sure everything would fit. I did quickly realize I could do with just a bit more clearance, so I added a few thin washers to the baseplate for an extra mm of clearance. I also added a set of new rubber feet to the bottom to get a little bit of airflow and elevate it up off of any play surface. Now that the internals are done it was time to switch over to my other desktop and design the GUI for the front end. For the main logo/splash screen I decided on mixing the SNES and Playchoice logos. I also found a sprite pack from the Super Mario All-Stars release of SMB3 and used it to make the GUI and elements for the Maximus skin. I really like having game video snippet previews for each selection so I integrated those for each game in the library. On top of that each of the emulators got their own treatment in the selection menu. At that point I was pretty much done. All in all the project was a success, and I decided to celebrate by taking it to work and playing it in our boardroom with a couple of my co-workers. I used to work for the Sportchek/Atmosphere FGL Sports marketing team back in the day, so obviously the first thing we did was load up NES Ice Hockey, before I got a few rounds of Donkey Kong in. Looking back over the last decade this thing has mostly sat in an IKEA display case in my office in one home or another. It was a crazy fun project and it taught me a few things about programming dev boards, tapping metal, and designing a good looking user interface. Even though it doesn't get much play these days I still see it every time I walk into my office and the fact that I was able to shove a Windows PC into a SNES controller with a couple thousand games in it still makes me laugh a bit. Besides, it has some good company in there too...
  7. I bought a switch on eBay and of course I trust people too much and I kinda got scammed. The sd card connector won’t fit/fits extremely loose in the Nintendo switch but that’s not the main problem I’m having. Whenever I even slightly bump the switch, it powers off and I have to press the power button. It doesn’t seem to fully shut off however. Does anybody know what’s going on? It also happens whenever I connect the sd card connector while the switch is actively on.
  8. Nintendo is dropping Wii U and 3DS online support in April 2024 Very disappointed but not at all shocked as it was gonna happen. 3DS and Wii U were my first consoles. But, a generation of online gaming gone just like that. Oh well https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1709418623566020975?t=tseMeLtCSQZN4F0j3_SKeQ&s=19 https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/63227/
  9. Day by day, especially since the release of Nintendo Switch and Steam deck, we see a rampant and growing market of portable handheld "gaming console". Many manufacturer trying trippy design language or introducing unique features, the likes of Asus ROG ally and Original Nintendo Switch/Switch OLED, meanwhile the others like Valve is stay in the classics design realm with the steam deck and most of Aya neo product lineup. Despite the hardware and software variation, when we talking about handheld gaming, the portability and comfort when we use the device, especially in long time duration, is mainly a big point. What do you think is the most practical and comfortable design in this realm? maybe you guys are like me, who prefer PSP and PS Vita design, or maybe the dual screen design like Nintendo 3DS? Or maybe combination of Steam Deck design with slight modification? let me know your opinion down below! Opinion about the hardware and software are also welcomed ☺
  10. Summary In a post published on Nintendo's social media accounts, online services for the Wii U games Splatoon 1 and Mario Kart 8 will return on the 3rd of August at 1am UTC. This follows a 5 month downtime for both games, and the fact that some legacy Nintendo WFC logon servers for some CoD games have gone down 9 years after WFC's discontinuation. The updated version numbers are 2.12.1 and 4.2.0 respectively. Quotes My thoughts I really find this story interesting with the fact that Nintendo took practically 8 months to sort this out, when other affected games on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS were fixed last year. I feel like this update may be bigger than we think though, I've encountered people hacking in Mario Kart 8 before and there's a few YouTube channels (not sure if I'm allowed to mention them) that have a quite a few short clips of hackers in Splatoon 1, perhaps those issues could be patched? 12. No, this post is not a how-to guide. I am literally making this thread just to tell you all about the Android tablet Nintendo released back in 2017 that comes with a docking station to plug your mice and keyboards into, and it also allows for video output. What do you all think of this? Is it pointless to use an Android tablet with a full keyboard, mouse, and monitor? Also, due to Android running off an SD card, it feels slow, but it actually can game quite nicely. What is it with many computers being able to feel slow but still game surprisingly well?
  13. Hello everyone. As the topic headline states what would you like to see Nintendo implement in their next console? Personally if it is a switch successor i would like to see a lot of improvements. All base models of the new switch (let’s call it switch 2) to be with a 720p OLED screen a) Why 720p not 1080? it is for battery life reasons. if the game runs natively on 1080p and is just downscaled to 720p while in handheld mode and has a consistent 60 FPS many people (at least those who I interact with would be willing to compromise) More Powerful Hardware: A new Nintendo Switch SHOULD be upgraded hardware capabilities, including a more powerful processor (possibly if NVidia Ada Lovelace or a custom silicone but with GDDR6 memory instead of GDDR6X (more power hungry), improved graphics performance, and increased memory capacity (from 4 to possibly 8 or 10 gigs). This would allow for better graphics, smoother gameplay, and the ability to handle more demanding games. Personal note/want: If Nintendo implements Frore Systems whisper quiet cooling solution I would be VERY impressed Docked mode as a MINIMUM of 1080p 60FPS (this is a NEED TO HAVE!!!) and possibly natively 1440p and with proper DLSS (if they go with NVidia chips) 4k 60 (this is a WANT not a need) Backwards compatibility with the original switch games (cartridge's); As someone who travels from Germany to the Netherlands and Bulgaria cartridges are a great way to trade with other people from the community therefore, for many people a buying decision would actually be "Can I play the games I already payed full price or 30% off (Nintendo's biggest deal on a physical copy of a game that I have seen) on the new console?" a) But why would you want that? Well having backwards compatibility with older titles helps both the consumers who already have a decent library of games to actually buy the new console and the game companies who WILL have incentive to keep updating the games and issue updates with improved graphics for the switch 2 (moving from 540i or 720p 30 fps to 720 60 FPS and 1080p 60 FPS and above in docked mode) Who would not want to see their Favorite Fire emblem / Xenoblade / Persona character in FHD? Improved Battery Life: Extending the battery life is always appreciated, especially for gamers who enjoy playing on the go. Enhancements in power efficiency and battery technology could lead to longer playtimes between charges Joy-Con Improvements: Addressing the drifting issue that some users have experienced with the original Joy-Con controllers would be a significant improvement (what i mean here is; CHANGE TO ELECTROMAGNETIC JOYSTICKS YOU CHEAP FUCKS), I am well aware that a single company actually holds hundreds if not thousands of patents for joystick features and it is more of a licensing issue than anything else. The above statement is also valid for the switch pro controller. In all honesty I would change the joysticks myself but my soldering skills are nonexistent and I would honestly like to see analogue buttons on the L LZ R RZ buttons. Increased Storage: A larger internal storage capacity would be beneficial (32 gigabytes is nothing!), most long term users I have interacted with find the current storage space limiting. Sure there is a DS card expansion bay but even if you get the 128gigabyte one (as most users do) at some point you will see that filled up very fast. I have most of my games on a cartridge's and I’m already half full on my external storage just from patches. Now imagine you buy mostly online, you need a patch to play a game and need to download a game and that storage fills up very quickly! Online Services and Connectivity: Enhancements to the online infrastructure, including more stable online multiplayer and a more intuitive user interface for online services, would be welcomed feature. The following is just me wanting more stuff that would inherently benefit a lot of people (basically me being greedy and spoiled) A. Multimedia Support: Incorporating multimedia features into the dock, such as the ability to play Blu-ray discs. B. Stream content from popular streaming services, would make the Switch a more well-rounded entertainment device. C. Compatibility with Older docks to play at least 1080p 60FPS games since it is HDMI 1.2 D. Improved Stability: Enhancing the stability of the dock, both in terms of physical support and durability. (ngl currently the dock feels like a very cheap plastic toy) What did I miss that you would like to see in the potential new switch console?
  14. I've been planning to re-paste thermal paste for my V2 switch (2019). It doesn't get seriously hot, but there is definitely an increase in heat fan noise and heat overall. Plus I think it needs little bit of cleaning and servicing! I have serveral years of experience with PC parts and larger consoles, but this is the first time I'm taking apart something small and delicate as the switch. Im planning to do the following to improve the thermal performance of this device, please let me know if I've planned something wrong or anyway I can improve these. Remove the metal CPU shield cover shim (or whatever thats called) and re-apply thermal paste there (Noctua NT-H1, surface will be cleaned with Arctic Clean Kit + 70% alcohol wipes). Put thermal pad on memory modules (options below) 2.a - Put a 0.5mm thermal pad in between the shim and the memory module 2.b - Put only on top of the shim not inside it (but I feel like there is not enough contact between the modules and the shim 2.c - do both above. Then reapply the paste between shim and heat-pipe Then between the pipe and the shield plate I also wanted to know If I can replace the foam pieces on heat-sink with standard duct-tape -----or----- some thermal pads? (Thermal pads on heat-pipe will be a bad idea when it comes to heat dissipation) - I have a feeling they are tightly glued and may tear when removing the heat-sink, just being ready. I need help with steps 2 and 5 mainly here, what should I do?
  15. Summary While Dolphin, an open-source emulator of GameCube and Wii games, was intended to be released on Steam later this year, Nintendo issued a DMCA take-down against Valve. Quotes My thoughts I'm honestly sure that if Nintendo attempts to get rid of Dolphin, then there are at least two cases where Sony tried to kill emulation two decades ago but failed. If Nintendo succeeds though, then this could mean the end of emulation as we know it. 16. No spoilers here, if asked I can upload screenshots but I don't want to risk it knowing how Nintendo is. Maybe this can be a topic for Wan show. I haven't gathered much information on it, just downloaded it and played it so here is what I know. Basically, the game got leaked 1 week before the official release. Nintendo has been copyright-claiming gameplay videos on youtube left and right which I think is funny, and the game is fully playable on emulators(although with some major issues.) Known major issues in these emulators are some texture glitches, one of the new areas being barely unplayable cause of that(there is a workaround) and game crashes every now and then. Even with all of this, I've been able to play through the whole first area of the game in a few hours after configuring it. For what I have seen looks like some people got the physical copy of the game earlier on and ofc they started making images of them and the game got instantly on privateered websites. Maybe people can share more information here, for the time being though, this is all I know.
  17. Hi guys, I need some advice here. So, I bought a switch in 2018, and I jailbroke it in 2022. And I bought myself a new Zelda edition Switch I want to transfer my game data to my new Oled Switch, but I am not sure if Nintendo will ban my old Switch if I connect it to the internet. More details here, my jailbroken switch is using the atmosphere I have heard that if you are using the non-jailbroken firmware you will be fine. Is that true? Need some help
  18. First of all, sorry if this is the wrong section to ask this, I've never used the forums before. Ok now my questions: If I homebrew my switch once, will I be able to go back to the original firmware so i can use online services? Will I be able to transfer games I purchased digitally over to my steam deck? What about DLC for a game I own physically? Will saves from my switch transfer over to the deck?
  19. Following an alert from the European Consumer Organisation (BEUC), the European Commission and EU consumer authorities (Network of Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) Authorities) contacted Nintendo to address a recurring technical problem with irresponsive controllers. Following this action, Nintendo has agreed to offer all consumers the right to repair for affected controllers of the “Nintendo Switch” gaming console free of charge, even beyond the legal guarantee. The joint action was led by the Greek Ministry of Development and Investments and the German Environment Agency, and coordinated by the European Commission. Summary Free lifelong Joycen repairs for EU citizen. Quotes My thoughts I do hope Xbox and Sony follows suit and this pushes the market to use different sensors. 20. When walking outside yesterday as of making this post, my 2DS fell out of my pocket falling onto concrete causing some dings, the drop caused the cartridge that was in there to pop out. When I got back inside I found that when putting it into sleep mode and then taking it out of sleep mode if find that 1 of 3 things happens 1. The console reboots causing what ever game is in the background to close 2. The latter but there is a short high pitched tone when putting it into sleep mode (this one only happens usually when there is a game launched in the background) 3. (Most common) The console outputs a high pitched tone and does not turn on, the pitch stays on indefinitely I think (I turn the console of fully because its annoying). Does anyone know how to fix this? I opened it up to see if there was any internal damages and there appeared to be none. Image of damages from drop 20210326_175652309_iOS.heic video of problem happening
  21. So I got a Nintendo Switch Lite for christmas. Being as I don't actually have many games yet I decided to borrow some of my sibling's cartridges. In summary, I feel it won't be long before my new Switch lite console is gathering dust somewhere. So it's no news to anyone that recent first party Nintendo releases have been somewhat disappointing. One of the first games I tried was Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition. I thought this was a port of the Wii U version with all the accumulated DLC. It's not. It's a port of the 3ds version, and there's a few things you can check tobe certain of this. For one the physics on character costumes is extremely simplistic. In the Wii U version, Link's blue scarf will flutter in the wind as he runs. On 3ds and Switch, the scarf sticks straight out. The lighting and skybox of several levels also conform to the 3ds version of the game. To be honest, it makes sense. The ARM chip in the Switch is the same architecture as the 3ds, so it would be easier to port the game over, however the game supposedly launched with significant graphical glitches, so maybe they needed a little more time with it. And for some reason they carried over the virtual pet system from the 3ds version. (Seriously, who asked for this?) I do have the Wii U version on my pc as part of Cemu, and I have noticed the game performs considerably better on the emulator than on the Switch natively, including full 60fps of the treasure chest and victory pose cutscenes on Cemu, vs a 20fps-looking framerate on Switch. Which begs the question, why pay sixty bucks for an inferior version of the game?
  22. To help alert others of first party nintendo games on sale or nintendo hardware on sale. Not for third party hardware or niche third party games. Larger known games which are third party ok to discuss. An example of this thread is during gamestop canada’s boxing week sale, the switch pro controller was on sale for one day only. It was not advertised. I will post here when I find out of deals.
  23. Hello, my switch dock won't give the signal to the hdmi. I don't know what happen. If there is someone who can help me with that? Before it died, I was pluguing usb in and it gave me a black screen. But the power still is usable. Sorry my English is poor.
  24. Summary In March of 2023, Nintendo will now no longer support the buying of digital copies of games for the 3DS and the Wii U. Quotes My thoughts Oh no! The Wii U and 3DS are no longer getting digital gam- oh who cares. Everyone has physical copies anyways. I mean, for the people who do have digital copies, they still keep their games. You just can’t buy them anymore. Who even buys Wii U/3DS games from the eShop anyways? Everyone just gets a physical copy. Anyways, I guess it is sad that these consoles are now dated, but then again, you can still play games on them. Sources the verge
  25. Alright, I have decided to make this review. I have loved my Nintendo Switch, but there are some things that have plagued it. THE PROS I really love the design of the Switch. I has that fun look to it. The controllers feel nice, it has a “stand” built in. What I mean by the “stand” is the microSD card slot on the back. If you leave it open and prop it up, it’s technically a stand. What I really like about the Switch is how easy it is to learn the buttons. (Also bonus points for the screenshot button.) The Switch is not too heavy, but not too Lite. (Haha, funny joke.) The screen is fine for brightness and resolution. But it could be better. In fact, the entire device could be better. Especially the Joy-con Drift… THE CONS Oh boy, where do I begin. Let’s start off by the mediocre at best size of the screen. They could’ve made the bezels a little smaller, eh? But, the big thing I want to say is, Joy-con Drift. Whenever I play Mario Kart, it feels like I’m playing Tokyo Drift. I know there are many tutorials online that show how to fix it, but I’m lazy so I’ll just leave it. Besides that, the Nintendo Switch is good. CONCLUSION At the end of the day, I get all $300 that I paid. The Nintendo Switch has things that ruin the experience sometimes, but at the end of the day, (just said that twice,) it’s good. Nintendo Switch Rating: 8/10. PLEASE FIX THE DRIFT!!!
