Hi all, One of my colleagues is having a new PC. He's going from Ryzen to Intel 13th Gen. I know technically I could put his M.2 drive into his new PC and uninstall the AMD drivers etc and install the correct intel drivers. But, I know a fresh OS install would be better. My question is, is there a way to migrate the user profile and all his data to a fresh install of Win 11? TIA

Budget (including currency): $3500 USD Truthfully I'd like to keep it much below but I do understand that to get the nice things you have to be willing to spend Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: This is going to be used quite a bit between my wife and I. Mainly gaming and coding for school. But I do intend to dabble in video editing. For my wife, it'll be for gaming and as a secondary setup to her work laptop. Having a secondary set up helps her a ton when working at home and it kills me to see her trying to work between two laptops. She's also taken an interest in streaming. This is still a big maybe for her but I'd like to be more than ready if she decides to pull the trigger. She's more so interested in recording and posting our game nights [ie magic the gathering game play / the wide variety of board games that we play]. I also plan on having a dual monitor set up. I currently have a Samsung curved monitor, the Cf391 Series C32F391FWN 32″. I intend to purchase a 27inch high resolution monitor as well. Which one however, is unknown as of yet. Having a second monitor, turned vertically, is so helpful for coding and such that it's an absolute must for me. Other details:This is currently what I've picked out through cursory research and chatting with some coworkers who have built there own pcs. Some of the parts were also picked because I've found them on sale or discounted on reddit / other sites. I also have quite a large desk, it's an L shaped white corner desk. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LbVsRv

Budget (including currency): $150 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex mostly Other details Have everything except extra GPU So currently, have a PC with 2060, i7, 32gb of ram, and a 650w PSU. Ive been doing a modicum of research into building an effective budget pc for my girlfriend, but had a thought occur to me that I knew I would need help with if I was going to do it: Can I run two instances of windows, and in turn, instances of the same game (obviously not same account on the game) with the same PC if I purchase a separate gpu, such as a 1050 or similar budget range, and plug that into my existing build? If so, how would I do this? I'm only a general knowledge user right now, so if it seems obvious I'm sorry.

Budget (including currency): Originally Planned 30k to 35k but due to lack of parts for the chosen GPU, i ended up at a price point of 60k which is the maximum i can afford to spend right now. Currency is Indian Rupee. Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Entertainment only. AAA-rated pc games at 1080p resolution (High or Very-High but not Ultra graphic settings) on a 43-inch 4k tv (60hz refresh rate) sitting at about 3 metres distance from the display screen on a couch. In future I might try VR-games/movies. More details: I want to upgrade my GPU. My current computer has : GTX 750ti, i5-650 and 1x8gb ram on a Intel chipset "H" motherboard for which power is supplied through a corsair vs450w 80+ psu. I know my current computer can technically support the GPU i have my eyes on, the "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC 6G Graphics Card, 2X Windforce Fans, 6GB 192-bit GDDR6, Gv-N166SOC-6GD Video Card". But to avoid cpu bottlenecking (i dont want FPS drops/limitations in games), I have decided to buy a new processor, mobo, ram as listed here: Parts planned for purchase I dont really care for things like noiseless operation, power efficiency, etc. features that come with PSUs that are 80+Bronze (or higher) certified and i know my current psu, the corsair vs450W 80+ White can easily handle my rig even after i upgrade the said parts. However, i do see a Corsair vs650W 80+ bronze psu that is bundled with a very-similar (not exactly the same) corsair cabinet/case that i plan to buy (as listed above in pcpartpicker.com) at amazon.in I could afford it, but it would be reaaaaally stretching it in terms of budget, as i have already gone up from my originally planned budget of 30k to 60k, but it's indeed something i can afford if i wanted to but at the same time i know i dont really need the psu upgrade. Not unless under heavy load, my upgraded rig's power output reaches 450W or higher. (which is not possible i believe, but i am slightly concerned about it since the graphics card's suggested psu wattage is 450W, i tend to use PSUs that r slightly higher than the recommended specs to be on the safe side). I expect after the parts upgrade, my new rig's power output to be around 315W (this is with my other additional components installed, like a 1tb Western Digital Hard-Drive, mouse, keyboard and a 5.1 speakers....i literally have no other pc components that could very well possibly lead to a higher wattage consumption than around 315W ) My Question to the community is, should i get the 650W corsair power supply or is it not really something to worry about? I know having too low or too high psu wattage rating would lead to other issues but at the same time i also know that 450W to 650W PSUs shouldn't be an issue for this kinda build. Just to make it clear, as i said before, i dont care for features like noiseless operation, power efficiency, etc. but what i DO care about is that, under heavy load or very light load, my current psu should be able to supply the necessary power consistently to the whole computer. (Light load being when my computer is in sleep mode and heavy load being when i have been gaming on very-high 1080p graphic settings on a cpu/gpu intense AAA-rated game for over 6-hours straight. I know for a fact under normal load, which would be when i am browsing the internet, watching a movie, social-media, etc. my current psu is sufficient). Also, speaking of power, i tend to experience power fluctuations sometimes, (my home experiences Low voltage or high voltage because of which i use this UPS APC UPS ) and i know PSU has nothing to do with this, but i felt like it would be wise to point out that i use a UPS and why the usage of an UPS is necessary for clarity as this whole question is mainly about power supply. Apologies that I typed so much for y'all to read , I'm new to linus's forums, i have been a subscriber to his channel(s) since he worked for NCIX but i never joined the forums because there was no reason to do so up until now but now that i am finally here, i must admit i am fairly excited to interact with the community Thanks to whomever that reads all this with patience and replies asap to help me out as I would be making the purchase of all parts within the next 3 days from now so would be really nice to hear from y'all before that Gonna leave links below for all the parts that i plan to purchase in-case anybody wants to know ( the links that lead to individual products in the pcpartcpicker.com are incorrect as i dont plan to buy from newegg.com but instead from amazon.in): Processor : i5-9400F Mobo : MSI B365M PRO-VDH RAM : Crucial Ballistix 2666 MHz DDR4 DRAM Desktop Gaming Memory Kit 16GB (8GBx2) CL16 BL2K8G26C16U4B (Black) Video Card : Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC 6G Graphics Card, 2X Windforce Fans, 6GB 192-bit GDDR6, Gv-N166SOC-6GD Video Card Case/Cabinet (my current choice as i dont believe i require psu upgrade) : Corsair Carbide Series CC-9011050-WW Mid-Tower Steel Gaming Case with Red LED (Black) Case/Cabinet+psu combo (if it's necessary to upgrade my psu to 650W) : Corsair Carbide SPEC-05 Mid-Tower Gaming Case with CV650 PSU (CC-9020125-UK) - Black (i have a universal power socket at my home already to go with this UK version of psu) Cheers to y'all.. - Shiva666

Hey guys! I just signed up for this forum about an hour ago and I wanted to see what people had to say about their experiences signing up themselves. I've always watched LTT but I would really only watch the less technical videos like the Amazon Basics vid, $400 dollar keyless keyboard, and the useless tech over $100 series. I guess you could say I was a casual LTT viewer. A bad experience I had with Microsoft a few weeks ago made me want to learn how to download and use Linux. I figured I should check out LTT for some Linux videos and I really enjoyed Anthony's video with Pop OS. This led me down an LTT rabbit hole watching vids on privacy, browsers, search engines, etc. Well once that was all done and I got Linux on my old laptop, I was left incredibly interested in learning more about tech. I started watching the more technical videos on the channel and as I did, I found myself enjoying the different topics and personalities the channel, as well as its sister channels, provided. I've been watching clips of the WAN Show nonstop these past few days too. With all this going on, I figured I ought to join the forums so I can interact with this community and learn. I was so excited to join too. I spent so much time exploring the different profile customizations to make this profile unique to me (I definitely have a lot more work with that but let me know what you think! :D). This is also my first time ever signing up for a forum. I think this all happened at the best time possible too. I'm going to start my second year of college and I'm still exploring my interests as it relates to a future job/career. I really hope this forum will help me figure out what my interests are for this. So back to the topic of the title, why did you make your LTT Forum account and what's the story behind it?

What's up people!? I'm new here but wicked excited to be part of the community. So I've been gaming off my Lenovo Y50-70 laptop for quite some time, but I'm ready to get into some video editing and streaming stuff so it's time to build my first PC! I've been doing mad research for MONTHS as most of us do, and I think I've decided on the final build that I want. I wanted to run it past some competent people before I make it official (though I'm still waiting a little bit longer for finances to come together). So here's a link to my Amazon list, but following is a quick list of main components: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600x GPU: MSI GTX1060GX MOBO: MSI ProSeries AMD B350M Mortar mATX (not 100% on this still...) PSU: XFX 650W 80+ Gold Memory: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Storage: Kingston 120GB SSD, 2TB WD Black HDD, 1TB WD Black HDD, 1TB WD Blue HDD (In order: Boot/OS, video/mp3 library and editing software, main programs and files/games, regular files/downloads/images/etc) Case: Cooler Master N200 Mini Tower Cooling: Noctua AMD NH-U9S (AM4 adapter sold separately) which I'll add another Noctua NF-A9 fan to. Case fans will be various Noctua and Corsair fans: two intakes in front, one intake at side panel, one exhaust at back, one exhaust at top. I've got other things (usb hubs, fan filters, speakers, etc) that I'm adding. I'll be running Windows 10, probably home edition. Like the title says, I never really went into this thinking I would be using an AMD CPU. Maybe I was brainwashed or something, but man am I glad I looked into it. Seems like the Ryzen 5 is perfect for what I want: gaming with some video work, and I think with the potential to do more video and streaming stuff down the road without my hardware holding me back. Oh, also I'll be using two Acer KG241Q 1080p monitors. Not the greatest but I got them basically buy one get one free when they first hit Amazon. Anyway, do I have any gaping holes in my build? Anything standing out to any of you that says "this guy's gonna have a real tough time with this build"? Or is this a decent set up for my first gaming+ pc? Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi. Long time LTT viewer first time forum poster. IDK if this is where I should put this. sorry if this is in the wrong section. In relation to last weeks wan show (sept 25 2020) and Linus' rant about the Xbox naming scheme (1h20m50s), I made some hand drawn "graphs" in an attempt to quantify what makes a product name good.

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd introduce myself here on the forum. I've been an avid watcher of LinusTechTips & Channel Super Fun for the last couple of months, and decided I wanted to be a part of the community here. Currently, I'm a college student at Western Michigan University studying music composition and audio engineering, but I've always been interested with computers and technology in general. Being in music and audio, my primary workstations are Macs, and you can make any comment about those that you want. Linus' iMac review, especially on Mac OS X, is really spot on, but Macs have a lot of built in audio processing and MIDI handling systems just not featured in Windows, unless you want to buy third party software. Despite using mostly Macs, I do have a gaming rig that I use a fair amount, and I love tinkering with it. I'm really excited to be a part of the community here! P.S. Yes, that is a pony as my profile picture. I am a brony. Let the haters flow in.

Hi, I found this community through a post in /r/homelab, or maybe /r/datahorder. Anyway, I'm a fan of Linus' youtube channel - really impressive quality and quantity of content he puts out. I listened to most of the interview on Twitch where he talks about his start at NCIX. Anyway, I really got into computers about a year ago when I finally learned to program, since then I created http://www.adamantine.me/ in my free time. My posts cover a wide range of topics, most of them just at the layman level. Anyway, I'm still exploring communities like this. I fold from time to time, like sci-fi and philosophy. I'll be poking around here, so watch out
