Hello everyone, I once again need the help for all the professionals here at LTT, hoping to find a solution to the following problem. Also, I hope this is the right forum to post this in. I ordered a new workstation for my workplace, because I wanted an upgrade to a 6 display setup. Our IT provider made an offer for a setup that included two Asus Dual GeForce RTX 3050 OC (8GB DDR6) in the system. I told them that the graphics card is way too pricey for what I need (office work, a lot of productivity tools, excel sheets and some occasional graphic design/photo editing), therefor I asked them to downgrade it to two "cheaper" graphics cards that still would support 6 displays with Full HD resolution at 60 Hz. Apparently they did not want to do that and said, this is the "cheapest" solution they could offer for the system. So, after some research online, I decided to get just one card and a Display-Port MST adapter, thinking that I can use 3 out of 4 ports on the card for direct monitor connection and to split the last DisplayPort on the card with the adapter into again 3 separate monitors. Yesterday I configured the entire system, windows recognized the 6 displays but will only connect to 4 of them. In the display settings of Windows 11 displays 5 and 6 are set to "Disconnect this display" - if I choose to extend to it, Windows randomly disconnects any other remaining display. After that I tried to connect the displays to the onboard graphics card (after enabling the iGPU in BIOS to "always on"), which also has 1 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort - first I connected only one of the two remaining monitors and it worked - all 5 showed up. After rebooting with the last monitor connected, something odd happened. The two remaining displays were mirrored and had a maximum resolution of 1280x720, the option to set it higher was greyed out. Then I tried to update the GPU driver and setting up the multiple displays in NVIDIA Control Panel - here I ran into the same issue as in Windows display settings - 6 Monitors were shown, but when I checked the 5th it displayed the message "this GPU support up to 4 displays" - I kind of get that, since it has only 4 ports, but isn't that exactly what the MST adapter is for? To split the signal running through a single port? I mean, if I connect the MST-Adapter to my laptop, which also has only one port, it still can use all 3 displays and the laptop screen. It is strange that a card like the RTX 3050 can't... Do you see possibility to make this setup work without buying an additional graphics card? I already talked to IT again, asking for the cheapest card they have on stock that would support 2 displays and would still be compatible to the current mainboard- they offered the MSI GT 1030 (GF GT 1030, 2GB DDR4, PCI 3.0 x4 Low-Profile) but I did not order it yet because I wanted to first check here if there would be any solution with the current setup. So I am trying to connect 2 displays to one DP port using a MST hub, The hub I have (link) claims to be able to do 4k 144hz and says it supports DP 1.4 w/ DSC. However if I connect my monitor (Gigabyte M32U, 4k 144hz) it maxes out at 60Hz. That would lead me to think it could be falling back to DP 1.2 for some reason. Connecting it directly to the GPU with the same DP cable works fine (4k 144hz). What's weird is if I connect it to my CG437K (4k 120hz w/o DSC) it does 120hz but connecting any other displays causes it to max out at 60Hz (because there's no DSC I assume, so 4k120 takes basically all the bandwidth of DP 1.4). Any idea why? I've tried 2 systems (3080 XGm/2080S) and many cables with the same results.... I assume it's the MST hub however it's got pretty positive reviews and claims it can do this exact thing....

So I can't really find a definitive answer for how these MST hubs work (converts one DP to multiple DPs or HDMIs, I have one thats 1 DP to dual HDMI). I've heard that they don't add support for more displays (meaning 4 max on RTX 20 series) but I've also heard it's only limited by bandwidth and the number of displays doesn't matter. So If I am running 3 displays natively and plug in 2 displays into the hub then into the last DP port can it run 5 at once or is it still limited to 4? Bandwidth shouldn't matter as the DP port is 1.4 and only running 2x 1080p 60hz displays which there is plenty of bandwidth to do. Just curious as I need to test this once the new laptop arrives as there are a total of 5 displays and a VR headset connected to it... I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with MST hubs and knows how they work with lots of displays. Thanks!

Hello, I recently bought the Dell U2414H display because I wanted to try the MST daisy chain. I have tested it with the Dell U2715H and this work great. I am now looking for a DisplayPort to hdmi adapter for the end of the daisy chain as the last screen. I already have try 3 adapter, active and passive, but none are working. The last one I tested is this one DP2HD4KS active with "displayport 1.2" but no luck. Would you have a clue of what adapter would work ? or is this even possible ? Regards, Nicolas BERTRAND

Has anyone got displayport daisychain working? I tried on 16.04, 18.04, and now 19.04. I want to get some more monitors but ran out of ports on AMD 7979. It works fine in Windows but no worky in ubuntu 19.04 is supper buggy, but don't want to re-set up my production environment

I am trying to setup a multi-monitor system for my home office that I can easily swap from my work laptop over to my personal desktop. The StarTech MST works perfectly fine when hooked to my laptop, but fails to work with my desktop. I was curious if the Duke RTX 2070 8G OC doesn't support MST even though it has DisplayPort 1.4.

Is it possible to set up both google and Samsung pay on a s9 and have the default be Samsung pay on the s9 (for MST) and have a smartwatch use Google Pay? Because I am wanting to get the Ticwatch Pro but I still like the functionality of MST.

I'm not necessarily worried about price, but I don't plan to game, so I don't need anything too crazy. I have 2 27" 4k LG monitors that only have HDMI and Displayports. My computer only has 1 VGA and 1 Displayport. I didn't necessarily want to use a VGA to Displayport cord or adapter, but I could be persuaded if that's not a bad option. I mainly got dual monitor for playing japanese games on my playstation with english guides on the other screen, but I also like the idea of having 2 full screen windows for watching a how-to video on one - and following the steps on another. (I know its not necessary to have 4k for that, but why not?)

Looking for a few monitor suggestions for multi display setups. Must have connections: Display or HDMI with MST or Daisy-chain capable. Use Case will for an Office environment, no video or picture creation will done at least nothing on a professional level. Screen Size: 24"-32" 16x9 or 16x10 LED or IPS does not matter. At this time Brand and Prince doesn't matter, I am just looking for suggestions and solutions you are aware that work or have had experience with. Please no random suggestions I need working ones. Also, at this time I am not looking to use video splitters so dont suggest them. Thanks. *edit curved monitors are not currently under consideration.

Hello! I have a fairly aggravating issue. So, I recently had to replace my monitors because one blew up (it was old and the CCFL just exploded). Right, so I look at my options and get a couple of monitors. I look at the outputs of my GPU and decide to use the Displayport 1.2 output. Since, the monitors I purchased don't support daisy chaining I figure I'll go out and purchase a MST Hub so I can run two monitors from the same port. All is mostly well when I initially connect them up. Typical stuff like Windows being dumb happen. At any rate about 15 min later I get it all working and life is wonderful! Two monitors off of one port. I go to restart my computer and then that is when I encounter my aggravating issue. I get nothing on either display. Windows login comes up. I get nothing on the display. I login to Windows with a black screen. I still get nothing. The only way I get something is by power cycling the MST hub. Then I have to give Windows a little bit to finally register that I have two displays. So, just to make sure it wasn't the displayport being messed up I hooked up a single monitor to the displayport and I have absolutely no issues. Works flawlessly. At this point I contact Nvidia support because the way I see it is an issue with the driver or BIOS of the GPU. They don't recommend the use of a hub. So, then what is the point of even selling hubs? Anyway, that is a topic for another day. So, here I am using the hub without an issue while Windows is up and running. However, restarting or basically anything happens where the displays get cut off from like sleep or turning off the displays, etc . . ., I have to power cycle the MST hub. I'm trying to figure out if I'm always going to have to do that because if I do then I'm just gonna return the MST hub and buy a couple of DVI to HDMI cables (monitors don't have DVI in). But I really cannot think of a reason why it shouldn't work unless I maybe have a defective MST hub, there is an issue with the GPU, or I'm doing something wrong. Specs for those curious: i7 4770k Asus GTX 780 DirectCUII (outputs are one DP 1.2 port, 2x DVI, and one HDMI) 2x HP Z23n (inputs are one DP 1.2, one VGA, and one HDMI) Startech MSTDP123DP Anybody got any ideas?

Hey guys, I recently purchased an R9 295X2, and am now about to buy a ASUS PQ312QE. However, I have come to realise that I will need to use MST to run 60 Hz through DP 1.2 as the monitor utilizes 2 controllers. Will I be able to do this directly from the card or do I need a hub or anything? This specific monitor only has 1 port, and is a full size DP 1.2. Best regards

The problem here is that im in the US, so I was hoping that one of you might know a place that carries this that would ship internationally for a reasonable price preferably.
