Hi there, In 2017 I built a PC with the following components: Mobo: MSI 970 Gaming CPU: AMD FX 8350 Black Edition CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X RAM: HyperX FURY 2x8GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 SSD: Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB GPU: Sapphire AMD RX480 Nitro+ 8GB PSU: Corsair RM550X WiFi Card: TP-LINK TL-WN851ND 300Mbps LED Card: NZXT 2m LED Cable There are two case fans. The machine ran perfectly for around a year and then started freezing randomly. This isn’t a blue screen, it just freezes on whatever is on the display. Only way to shutdown is to hold the power button. There is no overclocking active in the BIOS. I originally had the RAM in slots 1 & 3, but read the motherboard manual and saw that 2 & 4 are recommended so I swapped them over. Eventually within a day or so it froze again. The freezing is so intermittent and no way of triggering it. I can a game fine for hours, then when I close the game and browse the desktop is can freeze. I can boot the computer up fresh and it will freeze logging in. Sometimes it will freeze just browsing the internet. Sometimes it will freeze a couple of times in a quick succession, sometimes it won’t freeze at all. I’d added a 1TB HDD to the system during all this also. I hadn’t used the PC for a while and only started using it again recently and the freezing still exists and I’m not determined to solve it. I’ve tried disconnecting the HDD to save some power. But still it froze. I reseated the GPU, RAM and disconnected/reconnected power cables. It ran smooth for about a day, so then I removed the RAM and just sat one module in slot 1. This ran well for around 3 days I thought I’d solved it. I removed the RAM module and sat the other module in slot 2 but it eventually froze. I have done some reading online for MSI 970 and AMD FX 8350, it mentioned about over and under volting the CPU I tried both but it eventually froze. I read that VRMs could over-heat. I downloaded HWInfo/Monitor and the motherboard temperature was around 30-40 degC. I stress tested the machine using AIDA64 and it didn’t cause a crash. I ran a windows memory check and it didn’t detail any issues. I’ve formatted the SSD and re-installed Windows 10. Still it completely randomly freezes. The only things I can now think to try are different RAM <1866MHz, a different (perhaps larger) PSU and finally try a different motherboard… If anyone has some suggestions or thoughts as to what might be causing the issue or what I can do further to troubleshoot it would be greatly appreciated. Hello everyone. I recently built a gaming rig using an MSI 970 gaming motherboard. When I first built the rig the USB 3.0 slots worked fine and were transferring the speed they are suppose to, but suddenly one day i noticed it was taking a long time to transfer files back and forth with my external hard drive (which is a Western Digital My Book which supports USB 3.0.) I even made sure i am using the USB 3.0 cord that came with it. I am a little confused trying to figure out what this could possibly be or what is causing this to happen. I have all the drivers installed so its not that either. If someone with the same problem or with a solution could reply, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Before going on, here are the relevant components: MSI 970 Gaming AMD FX-6300 4 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz Windows 10 64-bit When I first built the computer, I had 2 4GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz but in task manager, it was detecting the full 8GB but saying that 4 of them were "hardware reserved". I tried many methods to fix this including going into ms-config and unchecking the "maximum memory" box, updating the bios, and rearranging the sticks. Unfortunately none of these worked and i was convinced that one of the sticks in the kit was bad so I bit the bullet and bought another kit of the same RAM (I was planning on upgrading to 16GB down the line anyway so it wasn't a big deal). After getting it all hooked up, my task manager now says that I have 16GB of RAM but 8.1GB hardware reserved (thus 7.9GB usable). I downloaded CPU-Z to see what it said about the RAM and it detected all 16GB of RAM but in the box labeled "Channels #" it says "Single" (remember there are 4 sticks of ram in the motherboard filling all of the slots). At this point I am at a complete loss as it seems nothing I do will give me back the 8.1GB of RAM being "hardware reserved". Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Parts: Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming CPU: AMD FX-6300 GPU: Zotac GTX 1050 ti PSU: EVGA 600 B1, 80+ BRONZE 600W RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2133 MHz When I turn it on, all of the fans and LEDs power up without issue. The buzzer however gives me 5 beeps which according to online sources means a CPU issue. In addition however, my graphics card will power on but will not output any video to the monitor. Another problem concerning me is that USB peripherals plugged into the USB ports directly connected to the motherboard experience power flickering; they will turn on and off once a second. Out of all of the USB ports, there are only 3 that will even power the peripherals at all, the rest flicker as previously stated. I believe that this could be a defective motherboard but i’m not sure if it could be the CPU or PSU causing any of the issues. Any ideas? [SOLVED] I narrowed the solution down to a defective motherboard and RMA-ed the board. Upon installing the new board they sent me, the computer started up perfectly fine no issues at all. Hope this helps someone!

Been measuring up my PC and looking at buying a RX 480 from MSI. Only issue is, it looks as if the SATA ports are in the way of the graphics card. I'm just not sure enough if the GPU and SATA ports will collide. Thanks in advance

for some reason, I can't fit two SLI MSI GTX970 in Corsair 240. When I try to install the first GPU at the first PCI Express its work and fit But if I try to install the second GPU at the second PCI Express its simple won't fit? its look like the GPU's input won't go through the GPU slot on the cabinet, and at the same time wont fit in the PCI Express on the motherboard? Hi Guys! I'm new here and I would like to share my doubts, so here we go. Here my specs: https://valid.x86.fr/etx9kq So I have Seidon 120v on it with Dual Fan. My CPU temps are arround 35-40C and motherboard aswell at 50% cpu fan. How am I suppose to improve my perfomance on gaming I mean what should I do in Bios settings(like going for OC is recommend or not) because I'm worried with these temps and Voltage too(not sure if is correct). It is that normal for MSI Gaming 970 temps high even in watercooler ? Should I change my Tower Case(Thermaltake Versa H23) cause front fans are at 1k rpm max speed to better air circulation ? my CPU-Z Benchmark is correct ? and last question, Should enable Core C6 state on BIOS ? Hi there guys, Posting on behalf of a friend, as (surprise, surprise), their PC isn't booting. Let me give you a rundown on what's happening, and we can go from there! TLDR version in the spoiler section at the bottom! So, Let's start with specs: MoBo: MSI 970 Gaming AM3+ CPU: Fx 8350 Cooler: 212 Evo GPU R9 270x (also tested an old HD 6870) RAM: 2x4 GB of Generic DDR3 @ 1600 MHz + 1x 8GB of Kingston Fury @ 1600MHz (Never had an issue before, also tried with just the 1x8 Kingston stick) PSU: OCZ ZT 750 W Storage (the friend didn't provide, but I believe): 256 GB Sandisk SSD (Boot drive) + WD Blue 1.5 TB HDD. OS: Win 10 Pro x64 BIOS Version: Unknown. Can't POST to find out! Now, here's what happened: The PC was running fine, until the GPU was taken out, and put into another rig. It worked A-OK in the other rig. Put it back into this one, and it refuses to boot. It won't POST. The GPU fans spin up, before turning off, and this loops until power is cut. The CPU fan is constant. No beep code and no onboard diagnostic display to check either, unfortunately (see attached video for fan behavior). Trying the GPU in another machine - no problem. Boots first time. Put it back in this rig, it fails to POST. We then tried with an old HD 6870.... It POSTed!... once. It now refuses to POST again. Taking all of the RAM sticks out of the MoBo and attempting to boot leads to the MoBo chucking out a no-RAM error, so that's a good sign it is at least trying to go through the "POST checklist". After taking a close look, it seems there is some residue on the left side of the top PCI-E slot, starting near the integrated heatsink. An initial inspection shows nothing like a blown/leaking capacitor, but there is no multimeter on hand to accurately check this currently. It appears to be coming from around the heatsink but doesn't quite seem as if it underneath it. Photo: My friend took a feel of the liquid, and he described it as a rather tacky liquid which was odorless (don't worry. I advised he should wash his hands as it could well be electrolytic fluid). So! Although it seems rather likely this is a blown/leaking capacitor, please let me know what you guys think is up, and any recommendations (above buying a new board) that might help? The thing that threw us off was the 1 random POST with a different GPU. Finally, the board isn't that old, so I would be rather surprised if a capacitor already. 2 computers with major issues both with this wet spot... What one earth is it?

Hi so I recently decided to upgrade my current pc build. I already had a XFX 280X, AMD FX 4130, an MSI 760GM P34 FX with 2x4 A-Data 1333 Ram. This was all runinh perfectly fine on a 4 year old Xtreme Gear 600w 80 plus bronze psu. When I upgraded I decided to swith both the motherboard and the cpu. I went with an AMD FX 8350 Black edition and a MSI 970 Gaming motherboard. After I put all the new pieces in I tried runing the computer and it would boot up fine but after a while it would just reboot by itself wheter it was on idle or I was gaming. So can someone please help

what will happen if i put an FX 9590 (which is a 220w CPU by the way) into an MSI 970 gaming motherboard? the motherboard says it supports a 200w and under CPU but i dont know what will happen if you put a larger watt CPU into it. (im only 15 so im still learning stuff like this)

First pc build just need a little help i won't be overclocking this pc. So far i've bought: MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G, Intel Core i5-6500 6M Skylake Quad-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1151 65W , CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 2666 I I'm pretty sure all the parts below will work fine with what i've already bought, but would like some reassurance from someone more experienced MSI H110M Gaming Motherboard XFX TS Series 550W Power Supply Western Digital WD Blue 1TB WD10EZEX Nanoxia Deep Silence 4 Claw Black/Red Case I'm a little concerned about the PSU as from looking at other 970 builds people usually go with higher wattage PSU but the online calculator says the system won't use anywhere near that

Hey guys! So today ia came home to find these condensation spots on my MSI 970 Gaming mobo. I'm not sure if this is due to the build of the mobo or the due to the fact that my house can be quite moist during the winter, so before I send the part back to its warranty I just wanted to check with you guys!

Hey guys me and my brother built a computer together today. But the sad thing is that when the computer booted up, there was no image on screen. We tried connecting a DVI to the graphics card (since the motherboard doesn't have any output video slots) and nothing happened. I would like to know if somebody has a fix for that big problem. Note that there's no OS installed and the hard drive is brand new (Might this be the problem?). Thanks, Phil.

To*^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I was wondering if i would be able to upgrade from an AMD FX-83000 processor to an Intel i7 4770k. My motherboard is an MSI 970A-G43 Socket AM3+ 8 Audio Atx Motherboard If not what motherboard would i be better to upgrade to?
