I have a moto G3 with 1gb of ram. In the last few months it has been freezing and crashing randomly. I have figured out that it is because 887mb of my 1gb of ram is being used up. The heaviest user of ram is the operationing system. Is there anyway I can make it take up less without restarting my phone every 20 mins. Thank you

I just bought this phone 2 days ago. I noticed that once when I left the phone on idle on the sofa and came back an hour later it was warm to touch on the back. Not hot, just warm. That should not happen since nothing was running in the background, I had no missed calls. Nothing. The phone warming up like that without cause is concerning for me. Next thing, I got my phone charged to full later that night and took it off the charger at around 11pm. I went sleep. At 6:10AM oddly my battery has drained away down to 4%!!! and the back of the phone has warmed up again. Again no apps running, nothing happening in the background. I am using custom apps like Nova launcher, Poweramp, Cameringo, I have no battery management apps, cleaner apps, or anything really that tries to fiddle with the phones performance. Should I call in a replacement? and do these phones heat up hot when you set them down to charge through the provided wall charger? I also just checked the battery app stats and its graph too clearly showed that it was 100% at 11pm and down to nearly 0% right in the middle between 3am and 9am, meaning 6am as I was speaking off. The two big battery hogs it says are twitter and a app I dont recall- "Media server". What is that media server? also my phone was not connected to wifi during the whole time of this issue.

Which one should I buy? LG G3 or Moto G gen. 3?? The G3 is currently ~$20 more expensive. I would like to hear about your experience if you have seen\owned one (or both!) of them.

Hello techies, I have a small question regarding the internal SD optional functionality of Android 6.0. Currently, my 8GB microSD card is too slow to be utilized as more internal storage. What is the minimum and recommended speed for a microSD card to function as internal storage in Android 6.0 If you have any recommendations on which microSD card I should get (8 - 32GB, slightly lower than average budget) than that would be helpful aswell. Hope to hear from ya! - ReThorb

So, let's get down to the point. I'm kinda a phone noob and I'm upgrading to a new smartphone soon. I'd like your advice on which I should pick, the Motorola Moto G 2015 (the 1GB RAM 8GB storage version, the 2GB RAM 16GB storage version is not available on upgrade for me) or the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6. I'd like: 5" IPS screen or larger Android, with minimal bloatware Storage is not important as I have a few microSD cards around Quick for web browsing Moto G Pros and cons: + Confirmed updates to Marshmallow + Compatible with dbrand vinyl skins - Less RAM/storage overall than the SU6 Vodafone SU6 Pros and cons: + Better technical specifications than the Moto G + Larger 5.5" 1080p screen - better for media consumption - Not confirmed updates to Marshmallow AFAIK - Larger screen - worse for ergonomics (I have small hands) I do a fair amount of media consumption with my devices as well as messaging and web browsing, and the occasional picture. I'd really like it if you could give me your verdict on what phone you would choose out of these two, or if you deem it necessary suggest alternatives that fit my needs under £150 or so. Thanks everyone, I welcome suggestions

So my trusty 1st gen Moto G is really showing its age as of late, with the lack of expandable storage, 1GB RAM, relatively small screen and no 4G to boot my phone has become pretty lacklustre.. I'm hoping to finally get a new phone at the end of the month, but as I eagerly researched budget phone (less than 200 euro) I had a eureka moment, why not get an older flagship..? And here I am, torn between all the choices, like the Note 3, HTC One M8,LG G3 etc. But here is my problem, I quickly realised (after almost falling for the Note 3) that these phones won't be getting updates, I know the M8 has Marshmallow and the G3 has plans to get it. My problem is I want a phone that'll last at least another year and a half without getting sluggish. So my questions are, should I get a newer budget phone (feel free to recommend one) or go for the older flagship route? Will the older flagships become completely outdated in the next 2 years? Or am I being paranoid? (Because damn I want a note 3 so bad) As a side note, I live in Ireland so prices due to the Euro's state at the moment are pretty dismal... (I'll probably buy from a UK site if they deliver to Ireland) What I want in the phone is: 4g At least 2GB RAM 1080p (preferably) Expandable storage Big ass screen, the bigger the better, I have big hands And a strong enough processor to easily multitask for the next year and a bit. If you've any other questions let me know, thanks.

I'm really frustrated right now. My phone's battery went down to 0% and it shut down. But since I've always had problems with the stupid micro-USB-port I am not sure wether the phone is actually charging right now or not. It won't display anything at all even after holding down the power button for like 20,000 years. Help! Please!

Preface: I am not on an Xperia Z2 for a while while the replacement parts are ordered and shipped. I am using a 1st gen moto g AWS (XT1034) with a bootloader of x4013. This is the main problem. I was ready to flash CM12 when a status 7 error occurred complaining about said bootloader. The plan: Original (done): Unlock bootloader Install CWM recovery Flash CM12 nightly *point of failure Mark 2 (done): Flash American stock ROM 4.4.4 Kitkat in hopes of OTA Use OTA to upgrade to bootloader x4018. *point of failure Mark 3 (current): Flash a foreign ROM with Lollipop that has support for AWS frequencies <----------------------------- Where I need help. Use CWM to flash CM12 Profit My actual question: I need to find a way to get the x4018 bootloader on my X1034. XDA has a post regarding this issue for other 1st gen Moto Gs (being the x1032 and x1031) but I run a risk of hard-bricking if I flash it on my x1034. The plan is to find a ROM, I started with Canadian and moved to US and now plan to move to another. I won't do this if it won't get me the Lollipop from Moto as that is the only way I could find to upgrade my bootloader. If you have a way to do this, please post. I know I should use XDA but I am somewhat a noob and need more basic advice that is more common here.

Recently, my Moto G has been giving me a notification telling me that I'm running out of storage space when I still have over 8 GB free on my SD card and about 400mb on the phone's internal memory. Although 400mb might sound like I actually I'm running out of space, I have been hovering around that much free space for a while now and only recently has my phone told me I'm out of space. And it doesn't help that the phone only has a 8gb storage capacity... Besides the annoying notification that can't be cleared, my gmail app also says that it can't sync/update my emails due to a lack of storage. Most, is not all the apps that can be stored on the SD card have been moved to the card, so there isn't much else to free up more space. My dad also has the same phone as me and has experience the same issues, so I was wondering if any of you guys were experiencing the same thing. Note: we are still running 4.4.4 Kit Kat as I'm reluctant to update Lollipop due to the not so positive reviews of the update and I prefer the black and white colour scheme over the "material design" blues and lighter colours of 5.0 Lolipop.

I was wondering if the Moto G 2015 (the one that just came out) would work with Tracfone. From what I can tell it should, but I am not the most intelligent when it comes to phones.

Hey guys! So I went out the other day and bumped my Moto G (1st Gen) on the side of a table or something and when I came back the display doesn't seem to work. But here's the weird part:- When I bootup, the display works perfectly fine... Until the end splash screen, after which it becomes black. I know the phone still works as it does ring to incoming calls. Even the FastBoot works fine (Holding down Vol- and Power). But the touch screen is janky. But it's gonna cost a hefty amount to have the display replaced by Motorola as its warranty is kinda over. So I'm thinking of getting a Droid Turbo or something along the lines( because dem 3 days of battery :3). So my question is that, how do I take a full backup of my data from the phone considering the display doesn't work? Whenever I plugged in my phone to my computer a pop-up shows up on the phone asking whether to charge or use USB Data Connectivity. So is there a way to bypass this and just take a full on backup using some software?

Hey everyone! I have a Moto G 2nd gen. and it works decently...until some extremely annoying happens. For no apparent reason at all, Android 4.4.4 acts weird and every touch registers lower than it actually is. For example, if I tap near the bottom of the letter "t" on the keyboard, it will think I tapped the letter "g" which is right below "t". In addition to this, I'll be unable to slide down the notification bar. This annoying problem goes away on its own. I've reformatted my device and the problem still occurs. Any ideas?

After being acquired by Lenovo, many believes Motorola will be return to Chinese market, and rumors were flying around in Chinese tech sites that Motorola will bring Moto G and Moto X into China. Now Motorola announced on their WeiBo, that they will return to China on 26th Jan, and mostly surprisely, The design tool Moto maker will also be available to Chinese customers as well, let them customize their Moto X smartphones. The first phones that will be available in China is the Moto X, Moto G with 4G LTE and Moto X Pro, which will all be available in early or late February (after the Chinese New Year, which started from 19th of Feb). The Moto X Pro is just a rebrand Nexus 6, runnning pure Android (reported by Engadget), but lacking of Google services as the Chinese government blocked Google services. There is still no info on pricing of these Motorola smartphones in China. I have a Moto G which I have had for a year now and I was wandering if it would be worth to upgrade to a Oneplus One now that you can buy one without an invite. My current problems with my Moto G are the overall laginess of the phone, the battery life is not as good as I want it to be because it is sometimes dying on me before the day is over. Also it is a bit too small and the camera is not great. Lastly, the 8GB are not enough for me. My question is: would it be worth it to upgrade to a Oneplus One for $350 ( actually $200 because I even got a buyer that is willing to pay $150 for the Moto G )?

I've recently decided that I need a new phone, due the Lumia 520 being absolutely terrible - and I've come to two possible next phones; 2015 Moto E or 2014 Moto G. The Moto E is newer, and is around £30/$45 cheaper than the Moto G, as well as it being pre-loaded with Lollipop, however; the Moto G is quite a lot faster, has LED Flash, has a better screen and I think looks better aesthetically. The new great thing about the Moto E is that it has LTE, but the carrier that I'm on doesn't support LTE, so I don't need that. So which one should I choose to buy, keep in mind that I'm a bit of a power user, so I'll use my phone for IT diagnostics, and just general work, and since Linus stated in his recent video that the Moto E is quite slow, I think that in my opinion the Moto G might be better, despite it's greater price. Anyway, tell me what you think - Thanks.

So I was cleaning my house the other day and stumbled upon one of my parents' old Motorola phone from the mid 90s called the Pocket Classic 910 and thought it would be cool to compare it side by side to my fairly new Moto G I got around Black Friday. I figured I'd share the pictures with the community to show how far Motorola and the rest of the phone industry has come in less than 20 years. P.S.I wasn't sure whether to put this in the General Discussions sub forum or the Mobile Devices , so if any mod feels this belongs in the Mobile sub forum, please move this thread
