Looking for a silent mechanical keyboard, that I can use in an office setting. Not looking for something overly gamey looking. Would really like a retro look if possible. Max budget $150, looking for black friday/cyber monday deals especially. Thanks!

I've recently bought an HP GK320, which is the cheapest at this time in India (₹1299 or $16). Is there any mechanical keyboard cheaper than that?

I've been looking for a new cordless soldering iron. I've had the same $30 Adafruit soldering iron for 3 or so years now, works great, but I'm sick of the cord. Hakko Soldering Irons are generally considered some of the best(from what I've seen based on the community) but they're corded and I'm looking for something a little less tethered. Here and there I have seen all sorts of cordless soldering irons whether they be rechargeable by usb-c or micro usb, but I'm unsure of the quality. There have been complaints about not reaching the specified temps the soldering irons claim or the batteries dying far too quickly. If anyone has any recommendations from personal experience, I'm all ears.

I've been looking for a new keyboard, as my current membrane is starting to break and it's too loud. My microphone placement isnt the best due to my horrific desk, so my typing noise is picked up and its quite annoying. What is the quietest mechanical switch?

I've been using the CM Storm Quick Fire TK for the past 5 years and I absolutely love it. Recently, I have been looking into other keyboards that are like the Quick Fire TK because this one is starting to show its age but I have not been able to find anything else with this form factor. It is essentially a 60% keyboard with a numpad that has all the home, printscreen, etc keys integrated into it. Or I guess you can think of it also like a normal keyboard except the arrow keys and the aforementioned home, etc. keys are integrated into the numpad. I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard with some form of backlight (not necessarily RBG). Wireless would be nice to have but I don't mind wired either if it means I can find another keyboard like this. I'm not really looking to be under any specific budget, mostly just trying to find any other keyobard with the same form factor. Would I just be better off just finding another quick fire tk on ebay since I can't even seem to find anything on the like of amazon, newegg, and micro center? Picture of keyboard is attached for reference.

Doctor Clams posted a topic in Peripherals
Hi I was looking into building my first mechanical keyboard and i need help with some parts I would like a TKL board and hot swappable pcb. if possible a purple case would be ideal Here's what i already have Switches: NovelKeys Cream Keycaps: GPBT Keycaps Lube: Krytox 205G0 I have no PCBs ,Plate, or stabilizers currently Thank you for any help in advance! -
I'm between the Epomaker GK68XS and the Keychron K6 Both are wired and wireless, i'm gonna order them on gateron red or brown which both have, and are pretty similar at pretty much the same price for me (100-110$) The big differences are that the Epomaker, while being fully plastic, a weaker battery, and a weird form factor (with a weird backspace placement + harder to find keycaps for), features fully programmable keys with the option for a split spacebar to add 2 more FN keys. The Keychron comes with an aluminium frame, and the layout is much better and standardized, but isnt programmable. I cant decide which feature i'd willing to compromise for the other

Hi, I'm thinking of getting my first mechanical keyboard the gk61 in blue clicky switches, I know optical switches are faster but was wondering if the switches optical switches feel like true mechanical switches? I am switching from mecha dome switches and as it is my first mechanical keyboard I wanna be sure the optical clicky switches are gonna have the satisfying click of a mechanical clicky switch since their optical, and is it worth it? (Switching from Logitech G213) Any help is appreciated

I've been scouring the web for a new keyboard, as my current set-up isn't comfortable for FPS games, and decided upon the Steelseries Apex 7 TKL Brown. It ticked all the boxes: TKL design- for limited desk space Tactile brown or clicky blue switches- for feedback when I'm typing Reputable brand- for reliability and warranty UK layout- Rule Britannia White or RGB backlight I was wondering if there was anything else on the market that is better value. So far I've decided against Corsair, because I don't like the font and the K63 only has red backlight, not white or RGB, and Razer, as they've garnered a reputation for unreliability. There are loads on Amazon but they're all from brands I'm not familiar with, so I'm uncomfortable with reliability and warranty. Is there another keyboard/brand on the market that someone could recommend? Edit: I forgot to mention, but my price limit is £150

Hello! So for long I've been a MX Brown user and I love the switches and the general feeling. I have recently bought myself a Varmilo VA88m board and it introduced me into the more enthusiast grade Mechanical keyboards. I'm totally geeking out on it and got really curious if I was to order a board with a different switch, what kind would appeal most to me as an alternative to MX Browns?

Hi would QMX Clips work with the Roccat Vulcan Pro? Also what's the difference between these 2 and which should I buy for my Roccat Vulcan TKL Pro? https://uniqey.net/en/accessories/18/qmx-clips-plate-mount-110-pcs. https://uniqey.net/en/accessories/17/qmx-clips-pcb-mount-110-pcs.

I'm in the market for a mechanical keyboard and finally say goodbye to membrane which is the only keyswitch I've ever experienced. most promising choices i have are the K68 and the G513 not sure which to buy, both are about the same price in my country and i don't believe international shipping (amazon) is much of a choice nowadays. usage will be gaming + programming, numpad is a must and a wrist-rest would be nice. either brown or red switches, loud noises (blue) is a no-go for me, people say Romer-G is too mushy and similar to membrane but idk. other similar options available locally: XPG SUMMONER RGB MSI VIGOR GK80 Razer BlackWidow Elite Razer Huntsman + a whopping 40% discount (seems fishy idk why it got such a low price but amazon gives the same discount as well) i would appreciate any help / suggestions

Hey guys, I'd like to start this discussion to figure out the best and top gaming related mechanical, opto-mechanical or new technology integrated keyboards for 2020. I also now have the flexibility to upgrade from the probably 14$ keyboard I currently own and never upgraded to save on money because it works. Give me all of your suggestions with factual evidence that supports these keyboards to be the top contenders. :))

I have absolutely 0 knowledge about keys but I've only used reds which I liked. It'll be great if someone from India could provide me with links to buy after the lockdown is over. Thanks in advanced

Greeting, Forum! For a bit of context that isn't relevant to the questions, but helps with the story. A while back I posted about deciding to take up repair on two of my brother's old keyboards as a challenge - A Das Keyboard 4 and a Blackwidow Stealth 2014. As of recently I've been experiencing a "strange" increase in free time so I decided to finally get going with that and things started superbly! I started taking the Das apart, which proved quick and simple, gave it a good, usual scrub with a bit of cotton tips, alcohol and a 90hp air compressor. Ok, a bit overkill, but it got the job done! Basically I was all chipper and jolly that it was simple and that I had nothing to worry about. Boy... Was I wrong. Here's where the fun begins. Before I share the atrocities against tech-kind I've seen and cut directly to the first set of questions: These are a bit more general, so I opt putting them at the top if somebody has the same questions. 1.1) What kinds of damage can prevent a key form functioning? 1.2) How can I troubleshoot for each? 1.3) At what point should one say "screw it" and just replace the keyboard? (or admit defeat, in my case) On to the story! The Keyboard was used during my brother's "Rage Streamer" phase and even in it's review it had to take a punch... or few. It's issue is that there are several buttons that don't function, but it didn't necessarily seem like physical damage to me (at the time), due to their seemingly random positioning and their switches' LEDs working. There are 8 of them - Space, F5, F9, F11, }, Page Up, Numkey 9 and Numkey Enter. After taking it apart I decided to start looking around and... wait... is that... super glue? Oh... After several doses of acetone I was able to remove part of the super glue and the plastic object that was stuck to the PCB. (One of the legs had broken off and my brother decided superglueing the outside part to the casing, but it spilled inside and the internal part stuck onto the PCB.) Aside from a few visible copper dots, no additional damage had been done and the moment of truth had come. I grabbed my tweezers, opened up a keyboard tester while holding the keyboard awkwardly to prevent my skin form interfering and started shorting pins left, right, center and beyond. AND THEN... the same 8 buttons still didn't respond. I really don't want to give up on this, since it's both a personal challenge, as well as a learning experience for me. So, here's what I know: 8 buttons don't work, while the switches' LEDs do. The PCB is delivering power to the unresponsive keys. Their placement is seemingly random. The keyboard has been physically hit, with intent. The PCB seems intact, except for scarring form prying off a plastic object form behind Numkeys {+, -, *, 9}, of which only Numkey 9 does not function. I can not seem find a replacement PCB (which I wouldn't consider cheating for the challenge portion of this post, if I'd have to resolder all keys in place and do the required testing to see it work). And here's what I don't know, the second set of questions that are specific to my case: 2.1) What are your guesses regarding my situation? Is it physical damage? A short form an odd strain of conductive super glue? How do I troubleshoot to check if you're right? 2.2) Is there anything useful that I can explore between the "faceplate" on which the switches lie and the PCB? The keys aren't currently desoldered and I don't have access. 2.3) Is it possible to "repair a PCB"? I had to say that once out loud to make sure I actually want to put it in the post. 2.4) Is it possible to find a replacement PCB? Is there a model number I should be looking out for, or something of the sorts? 2.5) Is there any additional information I could provide to make the situation clearer? Yikes... That was a long one. And you stuck out to the end? Wow, dude, you're awesome! Anyway, thank you sincerely for wasting your time on me and other nerds that need help. Cheers and stay safe!

I am not sure what kind of switch to get for my next mechanical keyboard. I like the typing experience of Cherry Blues, but they are too loud in my opinion, but Cherry Browns have a tactile feeling while having a quieter noise. I moderately game, but type for most of the time. Any recommendations?

I'd love to see all the beautiful custom pieces you all have, all my stuff is in the mail so I can't post anything of my own (just got a default g510s for now). Post pictures below! If possible, restrain from posting default non customised keyboards (gifs of your rgb keyboard with self made lighting effects are ok).

my favourite keyboard that I've owned for many years was unfortunately smashed to pieces today after falling off a shelf that was just a little too high. it was a gamdias hermes ultimate, i bought it after watching linus's video ages ago for 2 very specific reasons. #1 it has its macro keys located under the space bar. this allows me to set them to keys like R, C, E, etc. and use my otherwise useless thumb to press keys that my movement fingers would normally be used to press. #2 big dumb comfy wrist rest after searching all the usual places, it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere anymore. but i need a new keyboard and i don't want to go back to the inferior macro placement of down the left side. do any of you know of a keyboard that has similar features?

KEEP IN MIND THIS IS MY FIRST TIME POSTING ON HERE SO APOLOGIES IF I MADE A MISTAKE. I was looking around on instagram and found this user selling these keyboards. It is a full mechanical keyboard with RGB lighting I assume, though he probably programed it to be white and light up every-time you touch a key. Any opinion on this. Is it good, would you recommend it? Personally I like mechanical keyboards because they are a bit cheaper but still give a good typing experience just like cherry mx switches. Hey all, I have a Corsair K70 RGB. Its been a great kb since I got it a few years ago. However, a few of the keys are now double or triple clicking... particularly annoying when trying to enter passwords. Anyways, can I simply replace the problem keys with new Cherry switches? This is my first mechanical kb and I've never replaced them before. Thanks for any advice
