Hi LTT. I'm about to some custom heatshrinkless sleeving for my main rig and NAS but I do have some questions before I start to order. I'm not sure whether you need this information or not but my main rig has the Corsair TX650V2 and my NAS has the SilverStone ST45SF-G. I'll most likely order from MDPC as I've only heard good about them but I've also been looking at Lutro0 Customs, which raised even more questions. The sleeve will be ordered from MDPC, my questions are really more about the wires and tools. Obviously the Corsair PSU is a non-modular PSU, so do I want to make custom length cables longer than the stock cables I'll have to solder some new cables to the PSU itself. MDPC doesn't sell any wire so I headed straight for Lutro0 to see what he has and he has a few options. Which is the one to get for my Corsair and SilverStone PSU? As far as I can see from the 6-pin PCI-E connector from the SilveStone PSU it uses 18AWG cables. Now that the wire type is sorted out I need a tool to crimp the contacts on. Will the MDPC Crimping-tool do the job no matter what wire type I end up buying, or should I order a die replacement with the wires? I tried to calculate how much sleeving I'd need for the whole SilverStone job. Ok I am finally working on a few modding projects but I am a bit overwhelmed by the million different types of PET sleeving. I understand a good sleeve is a thick weave, but with that knowledge there are still what look like a million and one options. I am thinking I am going to have to end up buying a few types of sleeve and then determine what i think is the best made (and also reasonably priced to quality). On the topic of what is a good sleeve/ the difference between them all; what is special about lutro0's new Teleios Sleeving vs his other sleeve or any other sleeve for that matter. Just a thought, but I was thinking that all of these sleeve may just be the same or near the same because they may all be done by he same manufacture. I am not sure, but I doubt any of them created a "revolutionary" sleeve, but instead just changed the color or maybe changed the weave to be thicker... any links to what you think is good sleeve please send and i will take a look and then hopefully make a decision from there...

Which one do you prefer? I'm asking also because i'm not sure myself :rolleyes: Suggestions and tips welcome ;D

Ok, I may be new at at sleeving but I am diving head first into it thanks to the help of everyone here and Overclocked.net with a special thanks to @lutro0customs and his great work he has done as well as @WildTurtle for being so willing to answer any questions I have had. I have gathered about a page of information regarding price per M, diameter, and bit more, but I am missing one thing. Do any of you know the diameter for MDPC sleeve? ALmost every other brand of sleeve is 4mm so I am assuming they may have simply conformed to MDPC. Any help would be great because this is important for matching brands together to make a set of cables match to your desired color palate.

Hello Guys, this is gonna be a long one. So after posting my build (Obsidian 1.0) and being super proud of it, I looked at the Build Of The Week thread, that was a mistake. The pure awesomeness of those systems has driven me to do better myself, I doubt I'll ever get it as good as those guys, but damn I can try. The first things I decided to do was ditch my air cooler and colour-coordinate my system (Obsidian 1.1), but the real significant mod I want to do is cable sleeving (Obsidian 1.2). I've spent the last week researching the hell out of it and I'm finally convinced someone with no experience can do it. People with actual experience, I'm requesting you go over my preparation process to make sure it make's sense and that the numbers are correct. I've been asking some questions on LTT, but decided to start my own thread so I wouldn't be taking over anybody else's. From what I've learned it seems that Lutro0-Customs is the best sleever out there and his FAQ and youtube channel are my primary source for instruction. And most people say Million Dollar PC (MDPC-X) is the best sleeving material source there is, they are in Germany, so shipping won't be free, but it seems very reasonable and they provide lots of options and nobody has said anything bad about it's owner, Nils. However they are not the only choice, you can also get Paracord from Lutro-0 Customs, have Lutro-0 do it for you entirely (obviously expensive) or you can get extensions which are machined large-scale, so they'll be lesser quality and you'll have to deal with managing longer cables, but they're fast and simple. The best selection I've seen for extensions (in Canada) is Memory Express and I've heard a few people recommend BitFenix if you do go the pre-done extension route. You can see my Obsidian 1.0 specs and pictures here. My Obsidian 1.1 upgrade will be done this spring and consists of cooling and aesthetic upgrades: Replacing the quality but ugly Noctua NH-D14 with Swiftech H320 All-In-One liquid cooling Replacing the stock Swiftech Helix fans with Cougar Vortex fans Replacing the 750D's stock fans with Cougar Vortex fans Adding NZXT LED lighting (orange) My Obsidian 1.2 upgrade will be the sleeving upgrade, but requires more planning. Following Lutro-0's advice in his FAQ and some random guessing, here is the process I came up with, please make sure I'm doing this right. PSU: First I decided to replace my semi-modular PSU with a fully-modular PSU. I believe this will make the sleeving process much easier, though I have seen some people say working with a non-modular PSU is easier, but that it requires opening the casing, something I am not willing to do. Since I've has such good experience with Corsair, I decided to go with the AX-860. As an added bonus this will mean I can continue to keep the old PSU in my computer and have it functional during the actual sleeving, which will be a multi-day process. What method/sleeve do I use? I decided after watching all of Lutro0's guides to go with the MDPC (plastic) heatshrinkless method. This should deliver a real nice look with the added bonus of not having to line up all the heatshrink perfectly. I also considered paracord but it didn't have all of the options I wanted so I decided to go with MDPC. Colour Scheme: I've decided to with black as my main colour and orange as my accent. I hadn't originally planned on modding or colour-coordinating when I originally built the system, so I kind of have to work with what I have, namely black components. For the sleeving I've seen lots of looks and decided that I would make each cable 75% black with an orange stripe offset from the centre. The pattern i would use for the 24-pin: How much sleeving do I need? I used the PSU's datasheet to determine the length of the cables I intended to sleeve. I broke the sleeving into the three different categories as named by MDPC: Small Sleeve, for individual wires. The 24-Pin, EPS, PCI-E, Molex and Sata power cables. Black Orange Sata Data Sleeve. Black Orange USB Sleeve. For small wires such as the internal USB, front-panel and audio cables. Black Then I multiplied the number of each cable by the length of the cable by the number of wires I wanted black and the number I wanted orange like so: (Number of cables) x (length of cable in mm) x (number of black wires in cable) Example: 24 Pin connector = (1 cable) x (610 mm) x (18 black wires) = 10.98 meters of black sleeving I've added a 25% safety margin to each total, I'm hoping that is enough but if someone with experience would like to correct me, I would be thankful. I have also decided to buy heatshrink pre-cut, so I took the number of connections I had (120) and added a 75% safety margin on those for a total of at least 210. You'll also need some tools to complete all this. If you already have some of them then it will be cheaper for you, but this is what my price estimate came out to: And here is the actual cart from MDPC: Note that since I'm ordering from Canada I don't have to pay the 19% VAT (tax?) so the cost is lower than what is shown on their website by default as Nils details here. Shipping is also better then I thought it would be. Note that I have not placed the order yet as I'm waiting until summer to do this upgrade and I want to hear back from some pro's to make sure I'm doing it right. So I decided I wanted to redo my build since I wasn't exactly happy with it. I decided to change out the soft tubing with bent acrylic, do custom cable sleeving with MDPC sleeve, changed out my reservoir, and change out all my fans with Noctua. For the most part I'm happy with how things turned out considering what a nightmare it was to bend E22 tubing. Only things that didn't turn out so great that I plan to correct when I get more time is the tubing and sleeving. I actually didn't order enough tubing and the last tube I was bending collapsed from being overworked. So I ended up having to use soft tubing for the last run since there was no other option. With the sleeving I decided to do heat shrinkless and the sleeve pulled off a couple wires, this was mainly due to some of the wires not going into the connectors properly. I gotta say, doing sleeve on the Corsair AX850 was an absolute P.I.T.A. to put it mildly! Most of the pins wouldn't release in the 24-pin connector and once they did I couldn't get them to go fully back in. I don't know if there was something faulty with how my wires were done at the factory but it makes me rethink buying another Corsair PSU. The 8-Pin CPU connector and PCIE cables didn't have the issue so I'm guessing it was just a defect. Well anyways, here's a couple photos I took. Go easy on me since I've never done acrylic or cable sleeving and decided to do both at the same time lol! Was replaced with soft tube! It's a shame since it was bent perfectly to the wrong fitting lol. Hello everyone, I thought some of you might find this video I made handy. This is not a how to, this is just the best way I've found to remove pins from their connector blocks in order to start sleeving. I'm quite aggressive with some of the pins in this video and I would advise you to take it easy if your trying this for the first time. I hope you find this guide useful and happy sleeving! :)
