Hello community, I wanted to know if the samsung evo 970 plus 2tb is compatible and works good with the gigabyte b450m ds3h v2 with ryzen 5 3600 and rx 6600. In the gigabyte website it stands: 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe x4/x2* SSD support) * Actual support may vary by CPU. * Supports only M.2 SATA SSDs when using an AMD Athlon™-series/ 7th Gen. A-series or Athlon™ X4 APU. Thank you.

So I've when I built this PC it worked for an entire year without any issues: i7-10700k 2x16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi RTX 2060 One day the RAM suddenly broke, both sticks. Randomly had bluescreens, pc crashed, memtest86 failed (individually for each stick too), etc.. I tried my broken RAM sticks in my friends pc and he instantly had bluescreens, crashes and all the issues too. I tried his RAM in my PC and it worked fine. He has 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX LP DDR4-3200. So i refunded the RAM and got brandnew 32GB Trident Z's. They instantly broke again. Same testing as before, doesnt work in friends pc either once again. I figured it has to be a mainboard issue then, so i replaced my MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi with a MSI Z590 Gaming Edge Wifi. I refunded the RAM once again, got new ones and they broke once again. Now i replaced the PSU from a 600 Watt beQuiet with a 850 Watt beQuiet, refunded the RAM once again and it broke again. Im bought the same RAM my friend has for now, since they seem to work in my PC for whatever reason. I have no clue what could be the issue at this point but i want to have 32 GB of RAM back. Do you think I can get 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance without them breaking? I hope someone can help me.

ram HP Omen 25L and XMP. I AM FREAKING OUT !
ya_freezy posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, a few months ago, I bought the HP Omen 25L with an i7-13700F and an RTX 4070ti, and upgraded the RAM to 32GB. I initially had issues with XMP, as it simply wouldn't activate through the BIOS. Last week, I managed to activate XMP at 5200 MT/s. Everything was working fine this morning. In the afternoon, when I turned on my PC, I noticed that booting into Windows took quite a long time. In the Task Manager, the RAM speed was back to 2000MHz. I've now set it to XMP Profile 1 in the BIOS 10 times, but the Task Manager still shows 2000MHz. CPU-Z and CMD both display different RAM clock speeds. Which one is correct? I'm even considering replacing the motherboard because HP's BIOS is simply AWFUL. Can anyone recommend a good Micro ATX motherboard with LGA1700 socket and DDR5 that isn't too expensive? The RAM sticks are 4x Kingston Fury Beast 8GB DDR5 each, specified at 5200 MT/s. Or is there anything else i could try ? Thanks in advance for any replies. -
Hi there, Is it possible to use a 3rd NVMe SSD in an MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D. I would like to use a PCI/PCIe expansion card, however I'm not a big fan of using one in the PCI_E3 slot as it would cover the GPU fan quite a bit and I believe it would affect cooling. I was planning to move the GPU to PCI_E3, but that slot is only x4, so not optimal for my 3080. Not sure if PCIe 3.0 x1 NVMe expansion cards are the way to go or not. Thanks in advance for any help! Hi, I want to get a new SSD because my old one keeps filling up with stuff. I was thinking about buying a Samsung 990 Pro or a WD Black SN850X, and I was looking around the Internet to find out whether my motherboard, Z97 MPOWER MAX AC, is compatible or not. I found some posts stating it was compatible and some stating it wouldn't make a difference between a normal SSD and a M.2. I also found an article where someone used a "Lycom DT-120 M.2 SSD to PCIe 3.0 x4 Adapter Card" to attach a NVMe SSD to his Z97 motherboard. I honestly have no clue what to do. Maybe you could help me understand the differences and decide what I should buy. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, My problem started 8 months ago where my PC occasionally didn't start. I needed to press the power button more than once in like a minute for it to start. After being away for a weekend and turning of the power extension, the PC didn't start at all. Yesterday, I finally got to put my components out of the case onto an OpenBench Table and it worked with bridging the power contacts. Today, it failed again. Since these 8 months, everytime I tried to boot it, it mostly only worked when the LEDs turned on (only some seconds). If the LEDs are off, PC doesn't start. When it is on, it doesn't crash or anything. Also there isn't any MB Beeping. My guess is that It's either the MB or PSU. Though I suspected the Power Button of my Case before aswell. Hello, its my first time posting here so I hope I do everything right. So I have the Problem, that I just got a few new parts and I'm still waiting for my GPU to arrive. I already assembled everything and wanted to test if my system powers up. So I plug everything in and hit the powerbutton. everything works well but the DRAM LED was lit white on my MSI B550(Its brand new). I thought its nothing and just reset the pc. 10 Minutes later I decide to look up the LED and start the PC again LED still there and since I read just let it run for some time i let it run. after about 3 minutes my PC just turned off and wont turn on again now... I didnt do anything in between the starts... my PSU is also new its a bequiet PURE POWER 11 (700W). Recently an AIO leaked in my System and destroyed my old Mainboard and new 3070 (bummer) my replacement will come in a few days. But I dont know what to do now? Is my CPU dead now because of the short it had recently with my mainboard and GPU shorting together? Is my PSU faulty? Thanks to all people helping me beforehand! Ok, so a friend of mine has a weird problem and I hope you guys can help. He has 3 different mainboards and 2 PSUs. Every combination works, except for the one he wants to do. Since both units work with others, to me that means that they can't be broken. The mainboards (MSI B450m) has debugging LEDs but they don't really make sense as DRAM, BOT, VGA are lightning up. In the picture you can see the testing combination. I really hope anyone here has an idea, I'm clueless right now -.-

Hey there everyone! First off:I am a very BIG fan of retro gaming stuff and i am just playing around with older hardware for fun and pushing things to its limits. Now heres the problem...actually i am using a HP Z230 Workstation (got this one for free as a sortout in my company), so far so good -its a nice machine imo. Now i got my hands on two geforce 9800gt 1gb (one from Zotac the other one is a PNY - also for free). These cards are able to use in sli, and of course i want to use it to see how they perform. Now is the main problem that the mainbord isnt SLI "ready". I found a page of some russian guy who created a mod to use SLI with every mainboard So far so good, unfortunately, these stuff is really old and non of the links still work... I got one of the mods working (autoSLI i think), but the only thing i get is a BSOD cause of the nvmllkmd.sys file. I would really love to get this working and it drives me crazy i cant figure it out how to do it.... Can anybody help me with this? System Specs: HP Z230 Workstation 400W PSU I7 - 4790 32gb 1600mhz DDR3 Zotac 9800gt ECO 1GB PNY 9800gt ECO 1GB SLI Bridge mounted Mainboard- cant really tell Btw: sorry if my english aint all correct, i am from Austria (not Australia) and my english isnt quite on top anymore

I upgraded from a 1080p monitor to the C10, from a 1080 to the 3070 and from 16 GB to 32 GB a few months back. Somewhere around that time (apart from initial RAM issues, which happened immediatly) the problems started. Since then i have experienced freezes (with the iconic sound problems) that don't resolve to a bluescreen and thus don't produce crash reports (i think?), bluescreens and back to desktopcrashes specifically in Dota 2 (was always rock solid) and Star Citizen (a mess and crashes could be coincidental) without any error messages. I have been trying to analyze the bluescreen files using WinDbg, but i'm a little out of my depth there. From what i can tell it attributes the crashes to the modules: - nt (x1) - amdppm (x2) - hardware (x1) - nvlddmkm (x1) It also starts each debugging log with: *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for win32k.sys These are just the results from the clean install on the new drive, so i don't know what the other errors were, but from my recollection it mostly said amdppm.sys on the bluescreen. Such diverse errors would have led me to believe that it's a memory problem, but memtest says it's fine and i don't know how else to test for errors. "Unable to verify timestamp" leads me to speculate that the MB clock is bad (battery low?) but for all i know that could be a normal warning for a bluescreen crashdump. To troubleshoot i did (roughly in chronological order): - ran bootable memtest 86 for all tests, dialled in the RAM speed at DOCP timings but 2866 MT (earliest speed without any errors on all 4 passes) -> greatly increased stability, did this directly after installing the second RAM kit, thought the memory controller on my CPU just couldn't handle the same speed on 4 modules vs 2 - updated all drivers/windows updates -> no change - changed Dota 2 renderer in an attempt to stop the btd crashes -> no change - ran sfc -scannow (it repaired LG drivers and something with onedrive) -> no change - ran chkdsk -> no errors - reset windows to earlier image using the built in function -> no change - disconnected the second display and replaced the HDMI cable (first cable sometimes showed intermittent picture loss/artifacts) -> no change but no more artifacting/picture loss - reinstalled windows on a different drive, removed (almost, windows apparently put the bootloader on my second m.2 and neither of my m.2s was previously part of the install) all other drives -> no change (didn't install the LG drivers this time, never connected the webcam) - used ryzen master to turn off precision boost overdrive -> no change - updated BIOS from factory version from 2018 to most recent and ran bootable memtest 86 for all tests, dialled in the RAM speed at DOCP timings and speed, 0 Errors 4 passes -> bios update improved RAM stability, but didn't fix the problem - ran sfc -scannow (it repaired onedrive again) The problem (bluescreen and freezes) happens most often when running a game and starting/stopping video playback in firefox, but i didn't collect rigorous data on that, so that might just be a false correlation. I can't reproduce the problem by running stresstests (furmark + ycruncher) and at this point i don't even know where the problem could be. I already sold my 1080 and i don't have a different AM4 chip, so i can't test by swapping hardware. These problems are generally hard to predict, sometimes they don't happen for multiple days, sometimes multiple times per hour. If You have a concrete idea what the problem could be that would obviously be great! Otherwise clearing up a few questions would probably go a long way towards helping me narrow down my search for a solution: - Could the RAM be unstable, even though memtest86 says it's completely fine? - Is it possible for the graphicscard to cause failures in the nt/amdppm/hardware modules? (aka can i rule the graphicscard and display out?) - Could my secondary M.2 drive that apparently hosts the bootloader be the problem or can i rule storage out? - Would it be worth it to switch out the MB battery or am i on the wrong track there? I don't know which files to make available, i obviously have some crashdumps, but i don't know if they would help/if i should censor something about them, so tell me if You think any specific file would help with diagnosing the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank You!

To keep it short. I'm interested in buying the "MSI x570s unify max" but the thing is compared to other boards the pcie slot for the graphics card seems to be lower on this one. Will that have a huge effect on an aorus rtx 2070 in a be quiet 802 case regarding temperature or should I go with a vertikal mount in this case?

I want to build a PC in which I need 32GB of RAM and im unsure about wether or not I should use 4 Sticks of 8GB or 2 Sticks of 16GB RAM. The Description of the Mainboards states something about being Dual-Channel, so does that mean that 2 Sticks of 16GB would be better? The RAM in Question is: G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4-4000 DIMM CL18

Hey there, I recently (1week ago) build a new, first, PC and everything works fine. The mobo (z690 Aorus master, so E-ATX Board) also sits well and doesn’t move at all. But now, the more I think about it, didn’t check if the standoffs on my case (Lancool 2 Mesh RGB) were at the right place. I saw that the case mostly comes with the standoffs pre installed for ATX/E-ATX, but as I said I didn’t check it. Do I have to check it again? And is there a way to check it without taking everything apart again? And would I notice it if they weren’t? Thanks for any help

Hey, my Mainboard isn't getting any power at all after installing a custom watercooling loop. The loop was redone today because I saw room for improvement, hence i rebuilt it, when the loop was filled again and I connected everything back, USB Power was present for a few seconds, because the leakshield started to measure the fill level, but after that the board was not responding to anything that I did. When filling the loop I used a jumper and only the pump was connected to power. Now the board is completely black and no sign of power, no matter what I try. Troubleshooting already done: -Checked outlet and powersupply (OK) -Checked each and every connector -removed and replaced the CMOS battery - reseated RAM and tried different configurations -reseated CPU and checked for bent pins in the Socket (OK) -removed everything non essential -shorted the powerpins manually -Cleared CMOS with the Button on the rear IO -removed Graphics card -blew compressed air on the mainboard to verify that I didn't spill any liquid -Checked if the mainboard PCB had contact with something that could result in a short circuit Specs: Intel Core i9 9900KF 4x 8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 3200MHz CL16 Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master (Rev. 1.0) BIOS version F11n EVGA RTX 2080ti FTW3 Ultra Seasonic Prime Gold 1000W Aquacomputer D5 NEXT wiht Leakshield Hope that I'm blessed by the Tech Gods and someone is able to help me

Hi guys, I think I screwed up something and have no idea how to debug. Every help is much appreciated: Today I removed the SSD from my laptop because it broke and I wanted to save the data. So I connected the SSD (256GB SK Hynix) from the laptop to my PC (Tower) and started it. Then it didn't boot up properly. I then removed the SSD again and the PC still won't boot. I have a Tomahawk B450 motherboard, there BOOT, RAM & GPU EZ Debug LEDS are permanently lit in red (The CPU LED is not lit). The pc starts, all fans go on but it doesn't show a screen on the monitor. Also the RGBs on the mouse or keyboard do not light up. The LEDs on the bequiet case do not light up either. I have already reset the motherboard (JBAT1 bridge & removing the battery). Also tried to use mainboard HDMI connection for my screen. I don't know what else I could try to figure out what's wrong. I also don't know if the problem is related to connecting the laptop ssd. I am incredibly grateful for any help ! Budget (including currency): 250€ Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Pc gaming and Blender Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey, I'm trying to upgrade my Pc. I'm currently running CPU: AMD A10-7700K Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6g GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Motherboard: ASUS A58M-E So I thought I would upgrade the CPU. I have already found a good deal on an used Intel Core i5-9400F and would now like to know wich motherboard to use. Is it possible to an ASRock B365M-HDV? And are there any problems I have to watch out for except having to possibly update my bios and buying new ram? Like do I have to reinstall Window or something after building the new pc?

Specs (Relevant): Mainboard: Asrock Extreme 4 B550 IPad: IPad Pro 21 12,9“ Excuse my englisch please im not an native-speaker IMG_0169.MP4 Okay so Hear me out, im shutting off my PC as usual and flicking my little Off Switch on the back of the PSU. Then i Notice some weird blinking in some Part of my Mainboard. To my suprise the RGB-LEDs and The debug code display lit up. I was thinking im going insane. Now the thing i noticed was that my Ipad Pro 21 was still connected via USB-C to the USB-C port of the Mainboard because i use it as a Portable second Monitor that needs the wired connection. I unplugged the IPad because i thought it might deliver the Power from the IPad via USB. And to my suprise i was right the IPad powered The mainboard. So my Question now. Is this Harmful? is the current and voltage being controlled? Is this generally Safe? Like that made me wonder why that would happen… I would love to read and reply to your answers soon. Greetings From, Germany

This is for upgrading Budget (including currency): ~620€ give or take Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Main focus is gaming (newer AAA etc.), however it'll be also used for compiling and occasional 3d rendering Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm currently running a GTX 1070 with an I7 4790 and 16 gb if ddr3. While not bad I wanted to build a new PC but since GPUs are hard to come by for a reasonable price I just want to upgrade since I find myself more often then not CPU limited. (Monitors: 1080p at 144hz and 1080p at 60hz) I am planning to stick with my Corsair carbide 600c case, my 650 watt power supply, my PCIe WiFi card as well as my 4 sata drives and my sata DVD drive. And get an M.2 nvme SSD later down the line. I wanted to get an Ryzen 7 5800x to in the future pair with an RTX 3070 or the equivalent on the market when prices come down. I'm not sure however if the Ryzen 7 would present the best value or an Ryzen 5 5600x would be good enough and at over 100€ less present a significantly better price to performance ratio. My current shopping list/plan is as follows: Ryzen 7 5800x (~ 379,00€) Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz (~ 72,90€) However I'm not sure on the mainboard. The current contenders are: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus (~ 113,00€) Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming II (~ 107,90€) ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming(~ 171,90€) with the latter on being significantly more expensive and I was wondering whether the second one which I'm tending towards is suited for it. Are there better price to performance boards I missed. Moreover I would need a new CPU cooler. I'm not sure what to get. Nocuta is good but not exactly cheap. What would be suitable coolers air or aio for around 60-70€. Should I stick to my Ryzen 7 plan or would you recommend another CPU and if not what would be an advisable mainboard and cooler combo?

Hi, so Ryzen 7 5800x and a strix x570-f motherboard. Please help me here. Can I use the full x16 4.0 slot for the gpu and the x4 4.0 m.2 slot AND the second 4x 4.0 m.2 slot + 4 sata 6gb/s devices without running into any of this stuff sharing lanes? Cpu lanes should be 16x gpu, 4x m.2 slot and 4x down to the chipset. If the second m.2 slot alone needs 4x 4.0 pcie lanes already.. then this doesn't really work, right? Or does it? My head is exploding xD And does anyone know if direct storage will need the ssd to be installed into the slot with the cpu lanes? Just curious. Edit. HurrDurr just found out that taking a closer look into the manual is indeed - quite helpfull https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_STRIX_X570-F_GAMING/E15827_ROG_STRIX_X570-F_GAMING_UM_v2_WEB.pdf Pcie operating mode: Chapter 1, site 1-7. Says that it should be fine. Nothing to be found on the sata ports tho. I thought that could cause a problem.

Hi Guys! I've been trying for a long time but haven't found anything that helps me at all. Before I go over to the issue, these are my specs: Ryzen 5 5600X msi b450 a-pro max Crucial Ballistix 2x8GB 3200 CL16 AMD RX 460 650w seasonic power supply (GPU and PSU are know working cause I've used them before and RAM isn't directly on the QVL, but has the same specs as one of the kits that are listed on it) As for the problem I'm facing, it's once again the classic old 'PC doesn't POST' issue. Yes I have tried everything in the stickied thread on this topic forum, and none of them have changed anything. I have made sure to flash the bios update that allows support for zen 3 on b450 boards thanks to the handy flashback tool, and I'm pretty certain nothing went wrong there. As for now, as soon as I power up my PC, it cycles through some debug LEDs but doesn't stay lit on any of them (4 in total, CPU - DRAM - VGA - BOOT). Sometimes it does stay lit on BOOT, but there's nothing I can observe from it. ((see attached video)) I also had the CPU Fan ramp up to about 80% sometimes, but most of the time it is at a steady speed. GPU fans spin up and off again in little pulses but I also had the gpu fans at a steady speed once. RAM, Chipset and CPU heatsink are warm to the touch so there's definitely some amount of heat getting generated, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a PC at idle. I have checked all cable connections (including gpu/monitor) and they're about as tight as I can get them without snapping the entire board in half. Also reseated all components and of course got the snaps on my gpu and ram. Messed around with the tightening of the cpu cooler aswell to see if that would change anything. I have re-flashed the BIOS multiple times and it always did successful runs (blinking for about 1 ½ minutes, fast blinking for about 6 and then it restarts), cleared CMOS numerous times through both shorting the pins and just taking the battery out, even swapped the battery with an older one from a working PC for the same result. Checked case stand-offs aswell and they're all in the correct spot and short nothing. This is the first time I really saved up for new and decent components so it's pretty frustrating and demoting to see it just not work at all, not to mention all the dead ends I followed with random guides I found about this very same issue on similar b450 boards. I've troubleshooted myself out of really bad situations before so I definitely know how to do something, but in this case I'm basically lost and have to hope I can encounter the special person that just gives me the solution I need. I'm greatful for any solution you give me even if it doesn't work. VID_20210917_195735_01_01.mp4

Hello. Recently my Mainboard basically destroyed itself and ever since I got a new one, my monitor keeps turning off and my GPU drivers are gone. It only happens when I play games and it's getting really annoying. My GPU is a Radeon RX580 (according to Windows) but on the GPU it says it's a RX480. I've tried everything with the drivers but nothing worked. People have told me, that the Mainboard maybe has a different Vbios but I don't know what that is since im not really a tech guy. Also, sometimes when I try to install my GPU driver, it says that my Monitordriver can't be installed. Any help is appreciated.

Budget (including currency): 800-1000 USD Country: Turkey Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rendering - AI Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am building a PC with the AMD 5900x CPU. That's practically the only component I've already bought. My next goal is to decide on the mainboard and RAM. My research pointed me MSI MEG Unify mainboard, which seems to have a good set of features, however I have a problem with choosing RAM. I'dlike to have 64 Gb RAM, preferably 2x32 for future proofing. The easiest to find ram online (locally) seems to be G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB, or G.Skill Ripjaws, all availabe with clock speeds of 3600 MHz and 4000 MHz CL18 or 3200 MHz CL 16 versions. Unfortunately the QVL for the MSI MEG Unify doesn't include those specific models. In fact the only 2x32 Gb model I can find on the list is a Corsair LPX 2x32 Gb model, but that seems to be out of stock everywhere I've looked. I've read some stories with the models I've mentioned, where the users are getting BSODs when enabling XMP, or they can't boot at all (same board, same memory and CPU). I am honestly surprised: Is it that difficult to find a ram compatible with the mainboard, whitout the need to modify BIOS voltage and timing settings of the ram? Is it true that only 3200 MHz ram is officially supported with X570 mainboards, so everything above is gambling? In short, should I go with the MEG unify and one of the G.Skills and try my luck, or do you have any other mainboard/ram combinations which can be found online (Amazon or NewEgg if possible)? Thanks...
