So long story short I'm looking for a way to adapt (female) 'standard M5' (this is what I was told by the seller) to anything that I can put a QDC fitting on. The Idea is something similar to that Asus laptop where the laptop and the dock has QDC fittings (but obviously less official), I found 1/8" QDC fittings from Koolance but the only threaded option is standard G 1/4 which is much larger (which is find except I also can't find and adapters to that...) and 1/8" NBT (which I also can't find an adapter for). What I'm probably going to have to do is just put 1/8" QDCs inline between the laptop and the pump/rad and just connect them together when not in use but I'm trying to avoid that xD I have very little experience with this kind of stuff so I'm hoping someone knows more about it and can help, thanks!

Just bought a new Mobo with a new Samsung m.2 SSD 960 Evo. Won't recognise it, Tried both slots and removed all my SATA drives to ensure there were not restrictions. Any advice please? When Checking the Mobo Manual, there should be a enable/disable option for: "M2_1/_m2_2 RST Pcie storage remapping" (under Setting\advanced\Integrated Peripherial) This option is not displayed, any suggestion?

Specs Motherboard : MSI 170a M5 Cpu : Intel G4400 Gpu : XFX 6840 2g RAM : 2x4g g.Skill 3200mhz C16 My plan is to buy 2x m.2 MVMe cards, my motherboard has two slots. The question I have is are they going to be using 4 lanes each or 4 lanes total? Secondly I read that M.2 runs to the chip-set in which I read that it might have 4 additional lanes? I also read something that contradicts that in which the lanes go to the chipset then to the cpu so, the cpu would break down the bandwidth to allow it to fit under the max available lanes. Would that give 8x to the gpu and each m.2 would get 4x or if the m.2 are combined for a total of 4 lanes would that be 8x 4x, even more random, if the chipset has 4 lanes and cpu has 16 lanes. i have 2 m.2 which of the two would go to the chipset and the other to the cpu. Lastly, if they do combine for x4 would 2 m.2 cards go to the chipset(again if that is a thing) and my gpu would stay at x16?? If anyone could shed some light on the explanation of the it would be greatly appreciated. I applogize in advanced if this is a little scribbly just read to many things on the internet that contradict them selfs. Figured id just ask the question and where else better then linustechtips Thanks -Logan

Huawei announces Matebook X Pro, 3 new Mediapad M5 tablets and first 5G chip+Modem
Guest posted a topic in Tech News
Heavely biased post, long-time fan & Huawei user. Today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Spain), Huawei unveiled a large range of new devices. Sadly enough, no new P flagship, which will probably be unveiled in its own conference in Paris in March. Apart from unveiling a new Matebook X laptop (and being the first to have such thin bezels, coming straight from smartphones), they also unveiled 3 new android tablets from their Mediapad line-up, as well as a 5G chip, the Balong 5G01, and a 5G router for fixed internet. Please start counting how many "first" Huawei claimed this time, proving, again, who is innovating in both the smartphone and telecommunications industry, as well as the laptop industry now. All what had to be said about the new Matebook X Pro is already in that thread. I can just add that I am glad that somebody FINALLY came and got rid of those horrible bezels on laptops, and I'm surprised it took 2 attempts to Huawei to make it, while other manufacturers are still not bothering in doing so. Now, the Mediapad's. They have been around for a while now, with the Mediapad M1, M2 and M3. It seems Huawei decided to skip the M4 and move to M5 directly. This French article says it is because the 4 gives bad luck in China. Source As a reminder, M2 was the first 4G tablet with a metallic unibody, claiming again another first. The specs are as follow, depending on the model: Kirin 960 cpu 4gb of ram 2560*1600 screen 13mpx camera on back, 8mpx on front 32/64/128gb of storage depending on the model Mediapad M5 10 Pro includes a pen, the M-Pen, with 4096 pressure points (is that even how it is said in english?), and the option of getting a keyboard. First tablets with 2.5D curved glass screen Android Oreo 8.0 with EMUI 8.0 5100 mAh/7500 mAh battery! All 3 tablets support Quick Charge 2 speakers for small model, 4 on the other two, again collaborating with Harman Kardon for the best sound possible (Harman Kardon is owned by Samsung) Depending on the model, you get either WiFi or 4G connectivity for on the go use (obviously the 4G model has WiFi too...) Tablets are 8.4" for smallest and 10.8" inches for the two others. No headphone jack though, but an adapter is included in the box Pricing starts at 349 euros, and continue as follows (damn Huawei, just... why? Even as fan, this is just too much variety and we'll struggle to find the right version... but hey, variety!): Source Some pics of the tablets, stolen from here: Overall, they are already considered as an excellent choice for people interested in playing games or watching movies. The lack of headphone jack though... but still, at least we get an adapter out of the box and aren't forced to buy one, as with Apple (and probably Samsung if they did this). Pricing is rather competitive for what we get, especially knowing these tablets end up going down in price quite fast. Now, for 5G: Source Huawei unveiled the first commercial chip supporting 3GPP standard, the "Balong 5G01". This chip is capable of downloading at up to 2.3 Gb/s on frequencies below 6 Ghz, and supports 4G too. They introduced at the same time their first 5G modem. Here you can see, with Richard Yu, who, at this point, is probably an icon of the Huawei's Consumer Division or something. Pic from here. Mr. Yu specified they will not be licensing this chip to competitors, and that they are already working with 30 different telecoms to implement 5G. These operators include Orange, Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone (therefore Telefonica, for the Spanish market). Mr. Yu also talked of their 5G smartphones coming in Q3 or Q4 of this year. This could mean that the next Mate phone will support 5G already (probably 4.5G though). In France, it is unlikely we'll see any 5G network before 2020, with some operators such as Orange already preparing to deploy it. Promo clip: 5G has been tested over the past year in Berlin, in a partnership between Huawei and Deutsche Telekom. 5G is also experiencing some delays in Brussels, with local administrations and locals unhappy of installing more antennas. Meanwhile, the 4G network here is also being saturated in some areas. The future seems interesting. -
Hello, I'm thinking of upgrading my audio setup. I was thinking of getting the Beyerdynamic Dt990Pro combined with the Modi2+Magni3. Would it be a huge improvement from my current setup(onboard sound from the MSI Z270 M5 and the Sennheiser PC360 special edition)? Are there better options? Is it worth it? Or should I stick with the headset and just get a Dac? Btw. I'm using it only for gaming and listening to music. I was thinking of getting a separate mic like the Blue Snowball. I appreciate any suggestions because I most likely don't have the necessary knowledge of this topic. Greetings

So I come from a retail IT tech, and corporate onsite background. I'm used to leather shoes, white shirt and not being Cat food. I decide that I need to find a different job because I was simply not being challenged where I was working. You know how there's a stage in life where you're looking for a job and you apply to one that you're way underqualified for? You know you're not going to get it but somehow it makes you feel like you're either some kind of hero for actually applying or you're simply wasting the company's time because the job sounds amazing but you'll never get it so "screw you, company in question!"! That was me. Hi, I'm Stan and I'm 22 years old. The company called me back. They were like: "Hey Stan. Can you come in for an interview?" I went for my interview. And on my way back home it hit me like a train: "They were simply wasting my time back". I wasn't even home yet when they called me with an offer. I had applied to a job at a predator research centre and lodge and I somehow landed this job as IT department manager, out in the bush, wearing Khakis with absolutely no idea what I'm doing. This is fine, right? WRONG! The previous IT Manager had decided that the best idea to supply Wi-Fi to the lodge was using three netgear 150mbps routers in weatherproof steel boxes placed strategically around the lodge connected by homeplug. I knew nothing about Wi-Fi networks besides that you need the little antennas sticking out at the back or else the reach was pretty much non-existent. I've had brushes with Cisco and Juniper equipment back in the corporate world but never actually worked on them. I took it upon myself to get Wi-Fi smart and fix this colossal mess. After long nights of reading up I went to a local store and saw a Ubiquity UniFi AP. That was it. I fell in love with the interface they had demonstrated to me. I absolutely loved the fact that there's a sexy product that actually gets shiz done without breaking the bank. And the story started. I had done some research and had purchased cat5e UV Shielded cable with shielded RJ45s and 6 Ubiquiti NanoStation M2s I used 2 of them as bridges and the remaining 4 as APs. That in it self was a dream. The setup was so easy that a toddler with ADHD could have done it. After mounting them it turns out they aren't actually a sore to the eye as much as I had originally anticipated and the range on those puppies are freaking amazing. Fast forward a couple of months: We're building a new laboratory where we plan to do research and house predator sperm. This building is a bit far from the lodge where the mikrotik dish is that supplies us "Interwebs". The lodge also contains my server room where all the data on the research we've done is kept. Where all the data of the new feline TB research is kept and where the data from the laboratory in question needs to be kept. I figure let’s throw two NanoStations at it and call it a day. No. The bridge worked. But it was unstable. It was an absolute nightmare. Had Ubiquiti failed me? Is this where I part ways with Ubiquiti and fork out the cash to some overpriced horrid eyesore? No. I had decided that I have to obtain an Ubiquiti Certificate. I scheduled and attended the UBWS course at a networking supplier in the city. There I was introduced to the NanoBeam AC 16dbi. The smallest, cutest little piece of hardware I've ever had the pleasure of working on. I immediately purchased two of them. But i wanted to put them to the test. I have a friend that lives high up on a mountain in the city and I have line of sight from my house to his. It's about 6KM apart. I had borrowed my dad's binoculars and a couple of lasers (A completely useless idea but hey, let’s have fun)! We set off connecting the NanoBeams. We mounted them on camera tripods on the roof and used a home-made laser mount to aim the two at each other. This didn't work. We then decided to use the software to connect the two up and it was absolutely nowhere prefect (or good even) But it worked. We played a game of Call of duty 4 and I leached the crap out of his internet. The next morning I had climbed the poles at the lodge, mounted the two nanobeams and tuned them nearly perfect. We did it! The lab now has a "solid" connection to the lodge. Stan still has a job and for the predictable future; Ubiquiti has a hard earned fanboy.

Okay, so today i decided that I was gonna swap out the already installed op amp for the one that they shipped with the motherboard. Everythign went well, but, I don't seem to notice the difference. I tried googling what exactly the OP Amp does, but didn't find anything, just got more confused than before. I remember though, it's like supposed to change the way the audio sounds, but as I didn't notice, I thought i was mistaken. Lastly, if I wanted to change it for a different one, would any OP Amp that I can find on the internet work, or would it have to be a specific one?

Hey Guys! Currently building in a Corsair 350d Planned for Dual SLI with EVGA GTX 760 SC 2GB on the Gigabyte Sniper M5 I ran into some issues when i had to install the 2nd card in the bottom of the case. The graphics card is bumping into the front panel connectors - they are too tall. (by 2 mm or something like that) putting force on it, won't help. Does anybody have any suggestions on what i should, other than returning the graphic cards, or the motherboard? Are certain extenders available? Thank you!

Hi Guys! I'm currently in search for a new pair of headphones. I listen to a lot of music and play a fair amount of fps. I currently have the Megalodon from Razer which i was quite satisfied with. I have a Gigabyte g1.sniper m5 motherboard which has a great on-board sound source that i want to take advantage of. The aesthetics of the headset are for some reason preferably black(and green scheme) My question now is what do i wanna get? 7.1 virtual, regular jacks. What will take advantage of the good sound on the motherboard? What are your opinions? budget is around a 100$
