Now hear me out- We all know the utility of having a decent card that can drop into any machine, whether that's for troubleshooting, backup dGPU, or as a display adapter for a cheap machine or iGPU less system. Behold: MSI LP GeForce RTX 3050 Video Card RTX 3050 LP 6G OC - Newegg.com Considering $180 isn't inexpensive but isn't expensive, its an interesting option. -Low profile -No AUX power required, so can be dropped in almost any system -6GB of VRAM is sufficient for most games at 1080p low-medium -RTX features -NVENC encode/decode (GeForce RTX 3050 Graphics Cards | NVIDIA) -3 modern display outputs is usually plenty (4 for other models) Gaming performance isn't 'stellar' and falls behind the RX 6600 at the same price point, but that card doesn't have a dedicated encoder nor RTX features and doesn't have a low profile option with no AUX power. I might find myself buying one of these to replace the GT 1030 I brought into work, where this card might end up running my home theater R5 7600 machine. Thoughts?

My GTX 1050 Ti 4gb Low Profile stopped giving video one day, it had been used for approximately 4 months. When I turn on my PC, all it does is activate its two fans. I have already tried changing the port and it does not work on any. Help please

Hello, I would like to buy a new keyboard, since my current one is generally cheap and bad quality and the keys aren't very stable. I need something low profile with a short key travel, just like on my laptop and current keyboard. (but better in pretty much everything else) I guess it's fine if it's rubber dome but I think optical switches would be better. Tactile switches if possible. It needs to have the full QWERTZ layout, which means all function keys and a numpad and it needs to have the <<| key next to Left Shift. It's also nice if it has more than that, like additional custom keys or macro keys. I'm used to a key travel of about 2mm, but I have already noticed that most low profile keyboards have a key travel of about 4mm, which is probalby fine, but I have never tried it before. I usually think the shorter the travel the better it is, as long as I can feel the keys being pressed. I need an iluminated keyboard : red, purple, pink or if possible RGB, ARGB would obviously be the best. For now the Tactile Optical Roccat Vulcan Pro DE is the most perfect keyboard I have found, but since I don't know much about keyboards, maybe you can find something better for me. I don't know what my budget is, I want to get something good, but I don't want to spend too much on it, since I currently don't have enough money for a keyboard anyways and would save up for a certain one once I know which one I want to get. Can you help me?

Hello, I’m looking into a new keyboard. I currently have the razer cynosa chroma which I currently use without the leg stands propped up. It was the first key board I bought a few years back for my setup. I figured it was time for an upgrade now. I’m starting to gaming for a lot longer now and I noticed my fingers ache a bit after extended gaming sessions. I was looking into a low profile tkl wireless keyboards for the clean aesthetics of no cables, the extra mouse space and the ability to not really need a palm rest. Ideally I would like a board that has white key caps or that could at least be swapped later on. I have a black, white, and purple theme and my desk is painted jet black hence why I would like the white key caps for some color difference. I’m finding it hard to find a board that isn’t the Logitech G 915 tkl. I find $220+ price tag and for what features it offers a bit excessive. The only other keyboard that I found that interest me is the keychron k1 v4. Even though it doesn’t have white key caps the rgb version looks aesthetically clean with the lighting. I’ve looked at some other keyboards such as the Anne pro2 but I find tkls like those a bit thick and would need a palm rest. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a low profile tkl board that is wireless and is decent for gaming. I just wanted make sure that I’ve explored all the options out there because I would like this to be a key board to be in my setup for the next few years again before I decide if I need to upgrade again. Thank you for helping!

that aren't trash preferably? I really have no idea if this exists, but I just back ordered a 3070 ftw3 and it's going to get very tight (length is ok, case has enough space for 310mm gpu) but I'm using bottom intake fans (currently just one) and I'd like to keep using them but it's going to be too tight with normal sized fans so I need slimmer fans. If they exist?

Hi there. I am considering buying the. Noctua NH-D15 however my current ram does not make the hight restrictions. I want to run it in dual fan which means a 30ish mm clearance. My case is a master box 5 so there is not much head room to move the fan up. What is a good low profile ram for this fan. Ideally 30mm and I do want it to have a heatspreader on it. Thanks

Hey guys, I have a micro atx case and board here (socket 775) but i absolutely hate the plastic clip mounting system on the stock coolers. I'm not sure how much room I have, i'll have to measure up, but i have about 1cm room above a fat stock cooler. What would you guys say is the best out there? p.s. It needs to be rated for at least 95W as well (Q8300) Thank You in Advance

Hi, I was looking to tidy up the inside of my PC a bit, and would like to know if any of you know where I can buy a low profile USB 3.0 internal cable that is white. I found what I was looking for, pictured below, but would like to know if anyone knows where I can get a white one of these. Thanks

Black Friday is here! And it's time I get a new case... For the longest time I've been using a Fractal Design Define Mini, and I love it. However, it is time to change. I am building a new desk and purchasing a 29" ultrawide monitor and now I need to slim down my computer. My goal is to have my computer sit on top of my desk horizontally with my monitor sitting on top of that. Something like this crude MS paint sketch I just made. If it's not obvious to you, the desk is the brown box, the computer is the dark grey box and the monitor is the blue box (including the light grey box, that's the stand). Also this is absolutely not to scale. So, I come to you all for help in finding a case because there's a few details that make the search a little bit difficult. Requirements 1) $120 limit. Just went Christmas shopping for the family so I'm kinda broke 2) Needs to fit an ATX power supply, don't want to buy another when this one works 3) Needs to fit a microATX motherboard, again I don't want to buy another when this one works Preferences 1) I really really would prefer if this thing looked nice and streamlined considering it's going to be in front of my face every day 2) No optical drive slot, don't need it and to me it hurts the streamlined concept 3) 4 usb ports, current case has 3 and I've made it work but more would be better 4) Shorter vertical height, I don't want this thing too tall, but it has to be tall enough to fit a 1080, specifically the Gigabyte G1 Gaming model I was looking at the Antec VSK2000-U3 just to give you a rough visual representation. Picture courtesy of Newegg. This is pretty close to what I want except for the optical drive. This is the same case but looking at the back. I'm pretty sure that's not a standard ATX power supply mounting hole but I don't know for sure, don't have too much experience with power supply sizes. Again, picture courtesy of Newegg. I'd honestly probably just use this case but I was hoping to find something a little nicer. EDIT: Just checked the Q&A section on the Newegg product page for this case, it is not a standard ATX power supply size and it will not support a card as tall as a 1080 unfortunately, so I can't use this case. I'm hoping more experienced people on here could point me in the right direction. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to look for a GPU to get for my bf for his birthday since he's currently running on the integrated graphics on his i5-6400 (Intel HD 530). But the issue is that he has some Dell Inspiron and for some reason, while it does have 2 expansion slots dell decided to put the 16x slot at the bottom making it impossible to use dual-slot GPUs. So I'm wondering what cards can I get him that is low-profile, single slot and doesn't need more power than the PCIe slot can supply as his machine only has a 350W PSU. I was looking at the GT 1030 but I'm wondering if there are any other cards that would fit since even the MSI LP v ersion of the 1050 is still dual-slot.

One of the fans on my low profile 750 ti is starting to grind, and it looks to be the bearing in it. Because the fans are attached to the shrouds, Are there any replacement shrouds I could buy to put on the card? I'd like it to be the regular shroud, but if it's needed, I'll get and aftermarket cooler. I also don't feel like waiting 2-3 weeks and have a chance of it not even being fixed. Any help is appreciated!

I'm not 100 percent that this is the best place for this, but here goes. I'm looking to removing the DVI port on a low profile gtx 1050 ti (either gigabyte or msi). Is it possible to do without soldering? I'm okay with the idea of cutting it, but I'm not sure if that will cause some sort of catostrophic failure.

Gtx 1050Ti Low Profile versions differences?Noise? Temps?
Asmodaeus posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Hi, I was not sure in which forum this topic best suits, the graphics card forum appeared to me the most fitting so I have posted it here. At the moment I am working on a little hobby project of mine where I try to upgrade a lenovo m92p sff as far as possible. So far I have replaced the Pentium CPU and stock cooler with a delided 3770 (non K) and a Noctua NH L9i cooler. The standart 92 x 14 mm fan of the NH L9i I have exchanged to a 92 x 25mm Noctua fan, and the front fan I have exchanged to a 80mm Noctua fan. Instead of the standart psu is built in by a BeQuiet! TFX POWER 2 | 300W Gold with an 14 to 24 Pin adapter. Since the start of the Project I tryed to find a forum thread/video where all versions of the gtx 1050ti are compared in noise, speed, temps... Sadly without much luck . I have found some information about the cards but sadly not enough. The noise when operating under full load is what interests me the most but I almost didn´t find information about this at all. The existing Gtx 1050 ti LP versions that I know of are: MSIhttps://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-low-profilelZotachttps://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-low-profileGigabytehttps://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N105TOC-4GL#kfKF2A = Galaxhttp://www.kfa2.com/kfa2/graphics-card/10-series/kfa2-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-oc-lp.html http://www.galax.com/en/graphics-card/10-series/galax-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-lp.html Do you have any information that I am looking for? Did someone happen to see one / several of this cards in operation and can tell me about them? Thank you very much PS: I dont´t know if this is the right forum/place to ask for such a thing but do you think it is possible that the lp versions of the 1050TI would be reviewed by linus tech tips? It could be interesting for people who want to upgrade a small system that only fits lp graphics cards to more gpu power. By the way I delided my CPU with a der8auer Delid Die Mate 2, its a tool that delids the Cpu fast and without any risk I would know of + helps glue the hs to the die exactly at the same position where it was just incase someone wants to delid his Cpu aswell and doesn´t was to use a razor blade for it... And finally I am sorry for my bad english I have a poor vocabulary and grammar -

first things first: I bought a Dell optiplex off an ebay refurbisher and I got played. The image showed an optiplex 7010 wich should have a 3rd generation i5 (and USB 3) however what I got is an optiplex 790: 2nd gen i5 and no USB 3 I was planning to put a gtx 1050 ti lp. But that would cover both pci slots not allowing me to install a USB 3 card. Conclusion: is there anyway to mod the gtx 1050 ti low profile into a single slot card so I can install it along with a USB 3 card?

Currently been on a logitech ultra-x for over a decade... its dying a slow and agonizing death. its a slim "laptop-style" keyboard, and i enjoy the low profile. I HATE mechanical keys or long keystrokes; the clicking drives me nuts. Silence is golden... ductape is silver. I like how the low profile keyboard is right down there on the desk... and i doubt Im alone in this. Does anyone have some good leads on low profile keyboards that are not super expensive or part of that shitty Microsoft mouse/keyboard package? Wired please. I can't seem to find anything on amazon Canada; newegg; etc... halp? Hey Linus! can you do a low profile keyboard roundup?

Hello! I have been looking some videos about low profile video cards and i still have some doubts about bottlenecking with R7 350 2G GDDR5, graphics card which i'm gonna buy. Ok so this is my actual PC: Apu A4 4000 3.0ghz 4 GB DDR3 1866mhz Generic 500w PSU (gonna change it for EVGA 430w) 160GB HDD Asrock A78 Motherboard. The main games i'm gonna play in order are: NFS Rivals, ACIII, AC IV Black Flag, Resident Evil 6, Battlefield 3/4, Far Cry 3 and GTA V. (All in 1366 x 768 Med settings because of my 19' monitor). Then the questions are: Will i get bottleneck with R7 350? Will GTA V get a HIGH or LOW stuttering? Is a best option the GT 730 2GB GDDR5 or this? Should i in a future upgrade to an A10 7850K or change the motherboard? Thanks, and sorry if my english is not good, i'm from Argentina.

Hey guys, First post on linus (been a viewer on YT for years). So earlier this year I started on a new PC build in the wall-mountable PC-o5 by Lian Li. Full part list here: Wall-Mounted PC-a I'm struggling to keep the GPU below 80 degrees and the CPU below 85 after 3-4 hours of gaming. The GPU will hit around 75-80 within 20 minutes, while the CPU slowly climbs after those 20 minutes from 60 to 85 (which is obviously not ideal). The goal here is to lower temps while preserving/improving the look of the PC. The PSU is also fully internal with no access to air outside the case, making controling temps even more important. The theme is Black/Orange, although the CPU heatsink fan is currently red, as is the GPU (I already owned this from a previous build). The Motherboard has a few red accents but not enough for me to care honestly. So my question is a 3-parter. The case only has space for 1 fan behind the CPU/motherboard. It came pre-installed with a 140mm un-branded with a filter. Should I replace this with a Noctua or something similar to increase performance. Should I have it in-taking air from behind the PC or exhausting it? The Thermalright heatsink can support 92mm or 120mm fans, but they will not fit if they are more than 1.5 deep (probably 2.0 would fit but there would be no space for any air to get to it). I'd love to have an orange fan here but can't find anything. If it turns out to be impossible to find one I'm ok with using a black fan, but good airflow is important. I plan on replacing the 970 with a blower-style 1080/1080Ti (when released), since the open design is just pushing hot air around the case. Again I want something orange or RGB to fit the theme, currently I'm thinking the Gigabyte 1080 Turbo 8GB OC might be a good option. Would welcome some thoughts, I've never done such a tight build before, looking for advice. Cheers,

i want to build a new PC for the living room because the current one is socket 775 thus pretty noisy and power hungry. and it can't even play games like the remade versions of gianna sisters, oddworld, tony hawks and that kind of stuff. the original plan was to get a tiny and quiet low power thing like a NUC and completely rely on steam in home streaming for games but valve keeps messing up in that department and more often than not streaming cuts out or simply does not work for different reasons (wired ethernet all the way FYI) new plan is to build a new system wich is not too power hungry (and not too loud) but can at least handle low spec games and light emulation (90's consoles at least) i would not need much extra to do this: i got two mainboards laying around with core i3 CPUs on them (one is socket 1156 and the other is 1150) i also have a desktop-style low profile case wich would "fit the picture" much better than the mATX tower case the current PC has the only thing i don't have is a graphics card that fits into the low profile case i can't really find many new low profile cards to buy at the moment - only found a GTX 750 ti for around €130 or so but honestly I don't really want to shell out that much for the living room PC unless i absolutely have to. and there is also not much point in buying a GTX 750 for this price because the 1050 starts at about the same price and wipes the floor with any 750 or 950. they just don't come in low profile variants. or do they? I have not seen any. if its not a 1050 i want to stay under 100 bucks there are low profile cards like the GT 730/720 and such for under 100 bucks but I suspect these are overpriced potatos and nothing else. i have to admit that i never really looked at AMD graphics cards for a loooooong time so i don't know if there are any AMD cards that fit the bill. should i rather try to snatch a used low profile card for cheap or even try to sell one of the i3 CPUs, not bother with using a discrete GPU at all and get an AMD APU instead? i heard they have become quite powerful recently. any ideas ?
