Hello everyone, Lately have been noticing my laptop battery life to drop instantly after charging, I noticed it charges from 0% - 17% normally and then charges to 100% instantly, after charging to a 100% I only get a backup for like 20 minutes. Checked and verified this for multiple cycles. Any idea what this could be? I've updated Windows 11 and all the drivers.

found this on my battery report. i thought that my battery's design capacity was not supposed to change but it is. what does that indicate? and i am not really sure what to think form the life estimates data either. how much longer can i expect this battery to last? also, is it okay to run my laptop with the charger connected all the time? i heard that it is not good from most people but the issue is that my display gates really shitty when the power is not connected and i'm running it from the battery. i'm sorry if i'm being that dumb guy. I don't know a lot of this and would appreciate any help you can give me.

I need to buy a new battery for my 2017 Alienware 15R3. It originally came with 68whr battery but it swelled up because I always kept my laptop plugged in (so 100% battery all the time) and also it absorbed a lot of heat while I played games. So I need to a new one and thought of getting the 99whr version. I just want to know if the 99 one will fit in my Alienware. Also, can anybody suggest a website to buy from in India or send a link ? Thanks in advance!

So I’m looking at buying an MSI GS65 Stealth (RTX 2060) laptop but I’ve seen that 1440p 144hz+ is the best way to go for 15in laptops. Only problem is, high refresh rate 1440p laptops with the specs and designs I want are really out of my price range. I know that there are both 144hz AND 240hz 1080p panels available as screen replacements for the GS65 but I was wondering if the screens are standardized enough that I would be able to find a non-msi-gs65-specific panel that would be 1440p 144hz and would work with this laptop. Anyone know of any place I could find this or even if it’s at all possible? Also, on the subject of upgrades, are there any ~95wH batteries that would work with this laptop?

Hi everyone! I'm currently looking for a replacement battery for the Lenovo y50-70 laptop (model #: 59425944). Intel Core i7-4700HQ, GTX 860M, 8gb RAM. It only turns on and runs if plugged into the wall. As the model is 5-6 years old, it is way past supported by Lenovo. The parts list can still be found here on their site, and it does list the battery. However, it is no longer available to purchase from Lenovo. It would of been nice to get an OEM battery to ensure quality and security. I was thinking maybe of buying a new laptop. I've just graduated from university and have landed a job. The didactic courses for the first weeks of training require the use of laptops during class, and I don't wanna bet if outlets are available next to seats. Perhaps we may need to use the laptop while on the move even if there are outlets. But I also want to begin saving for my first ever PC build (I have yet to experience 144+ hz), and I would rather have that money go into saving towards the build rather than buying a new laptop while I still got this current one. The y50 is still going strong other than the battery situation. It just needs to be plugged into the wall! It is still able to handle less demanding games from it's time. The speakers and its subwoofer still sound great. The SSD and RAM still feel responsive. It would be perfect for browsing the internet and watching YouTube on the couch while somebody else uses the PC in the meantime. Maybe some Old School RuneScape while watching something on TV lmao... So anyways, the problem is finding a reputable and safe battery replacement, and I am unsure of which ones out there that I have found meets those criteria. I have read cases out there where people have found the capacity to be lower than advertised, or have arrived dead on arrival. I guess it's just the risk to take when buying third party batteries. I have no experience of going about this. I was hoping some of you all may know or have had past experience in finding laptop batteries replacements. More information on original laptop battery: Model: L13N4P01 7.6 V 7.2 Ah 54 Wh 7300 mAh Some replacements that I have found include: https://www.laptopbatterydirect.net/lenovo/lenovo-l13n4p01-battery.htm https://www.amazon.com/L13N4P01-Compatible-Y50-70AM-IFI-Y50-70AM-ISE-L13M4P02/dp/B0789H3W9L https://www.ifixit.com/Store/PC-Laptop/Lenovo-L13M4P02-Replacement-Battery/IF245-016?o=1 https://www.newegg.com/p/16J-006B-142R5?Description=59425944&cm_re=59425944-_-9SIA3E47ES2215-_-Product https://www.battdepot.com/ca/model/notebook+battery/lenovo/y50-70+59425944/lln273.aspx One thing I noticed is that the voltage of those batteries is 7.4 V while the voltage on my original battery was 7.6 V. I don't know if that is something to watch out for. It seems like there aren't any replacements with 7.6 V though. Another thing I noticed is that one of those choices is from ifixit. Interesting! Thank you all for reading, and I hope I have provided enough information for you all. Have a wonderful morning/day/night!

Hi I was loading a project in premier rush and my laptop totaly crashes and the screen either goes grey or white every time It then comes up with the error shown below every time. This seems weird as it is pluged into the wall. Would you say this is a battery problem? I have ordered a new battery. I hope this will fix the issue. I know the current battery installed is very degraded. The laptop is a HP Envy X360 BQ100AU. Thank in advance.

Laoptop with good battery recomendations!
killjoyhog posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Im looking to buy a new laptop on by december this year, but, out of all my needs, the true "desicion-maker-deal" to me is a good battery on a laptop. I have a custom build frankestein as a desktop to playt games and do the dirty work. But I need a laptop when im out of my house to do basically pure office work. (ppt presentations, emails, web browsing, music, videos etc). I was doing a little research and Im thinking on a MacBook Pro 13 (no touchbar), simply becuase everyone I know that has a macbook have their computers from years ago (even a 7 year old macbook pro) and all of them have a good battery that wont die in less than 1 hour idle. And with all my computers that I hacve had in the pass they dont last more then 2 years with a good battery. Same applies to my firends with windows laptops. They never las long after a couple of years. I was looking the Dell XPS, and Lenovo. But I was wondering if you guys know which laptop model has a good battery and it will good for a couple of years without breaking before the battery dies. Thanks for your help! -

Hello, I bought a New battery and the ratings are as follows 11.1V , 5.2Ah and 58Wh But the ratings of the original Battery that i received while buying my laptop were as follows 14.8V , 2.7Ah and 40Wh Should i use this highly rated new battery in my laptop? I've read in a lot of forums where the answers are mixed . Some suggestions tell me that it is perfectly safe to use this battery with different ratings Where as others suggest that this might be harmful for my Laptop and My Laptop/Battery might heat up resulting in some sort of damage. Also is there some software i can install to supervise the behaviour of the battery to know if it is safe to use this battery? Would really appreciate some advice regarding this matter. My Laptop is Dell Inspiron 14 , 3442

I have the battery for a Toshiba laptop and a few years ago the contact was broken (due to someone decided to throw a TV remote at my general direction and hit the battery instead, right at the connectors) The connectors in question I want to know what are the actual risk of using it as is and what state would the cells most like be in since it has not been used since 2012 (side note this battery was missing for those 4 years, I recently found it) edit: I posted this in the wrong sub-forum didn't I? how did I miss the troubleshooting subforum

so.. yesterday my samsung laptop once again refused to boot off of battery, which has gotten a rather routine thing for me lately. like usual, i opted to just pop out the battery, and check the solder joints, which this time.. sadly wasnt it. the 6 cells in the battery are in perfect shape, in fact better shape han some new batterie seem to come out the box. after soldering on new wires to try, i resorted to measuring where the flaw was.. and yup. the controller is stone dead, confirmed by more testing this morning. i've manually drained my cells to check if it'd show up empty.. nope. reports as a 100% charged battery in both windows, linux, and the bios. -- brings me to the question: where do i get a new battery? samsung quit making laptops somewhat two years ago, and my little pile of sadness is 4 years old by now. HOWEVER, aside from the battery having crapped out on me 4 times by now, i'm not ready to chuck it out yet, mostly because it still ligns up with any modern laptop i can afford performance-wise. so, new battery it is, bringing me to a few issues: 1: theres no official replacement batteries anymore from what i can find, thats a dead end. 2: aftermarket batteries seem to vary between 15 dollars and 85 dollars, with varying levels of shadynes and no clear line what's the better pick 3: amazon is HELL in belgium, i honestly dont even wanna bother. 4: as you probably already guessed: it needs to ship to belgium, and it needs to do so reliably, i dont want any "oh its so cheap you can just order a second one if it doesnt arrive or if it arrives broken" 5: i am NOT accepting a step down in quality, and expect my new battery to last me the same 6 hours as the old one did, even after 4 years of torture. final piece of information offcourse, my laptop is the "samsung RC530" with the battery being the following model number: "AA-PB9NC6W" EDIT: decided to take a look at my dad's (extremely similar) RC730, and appareantly it has the same battery, but only 4400mAh, instead of the 5200mAh my battery is labeled at. so.. appareantly samsung themselves didnt really mind consistency with their batteries too much...

so here is what my situation is. on Sunday i accidentally got coke onto my macbook pro 13" retina (i also have only had the thing for 4 weeks and managed to void the warranty in that time so I'm really happy about that ) and it now won't power on without a charger. So i took it to the apple store and they said that the coke got into the motherboard and the battery and to replace them both would pretty much be the same cost of a new laptop. They also said that they were not sure which component was causing it and they said that if they replace the battery that it might fix it but they weren't sure. So, what i decided to do when i got home was to run all the apps i could on the machine to get it hot to see where the heat was coming from and noticed that there was no heat at all coming from where the battery is located and only on where i suspect the cpu is located. My first question is when a laptop is running under extreme pressure, would the laptop battery heat up or no? And if so would it be staying cool due to having the laptop plugged into a charger. Im asking this because I'm thinking about risking paying $250 for a battery replacement but not to sure because i don't want it to not work and to have wasted $250, but am currently not a fan of having my laptop work as a desktop computer. Thanks for helping out.

Hello, Yesterday my laptop did shut-down if think because it was overheated. Since then my laptops battery doesn't seem to work anymore. The computer will not boot up or run on battery power alone. Windows does recognize the battery and says "pluged in, charging" but the battery stays at 74%. It is a pretty old laptop, when I bought it was pretty good for the time. I have already replaced the motherboard once, new hdd(old one broke) and os, the same goes for the screen backlight and not so long ago the batterie. I changed the batterie because I haven't used the laptop for a long time and the battery went down to 0%. Windows was saying "pluged in, not charging" so I replaced it. It was working for about 2 weeks. I hope you guys can help me. By the way, please spare me for the english mistakes I'm french and i guess you all know how bad the french are in english. For starters, I would like to say I'm new to the forum and this seamed to be the best part to post about my Ideas. So on to the topic. ***WARNING*** This topic is based off the hopes that this technology is available in the future! Imagine your sitting around your house and watching a video on your Gaming laptop and your friend comes over for a LAN party with their Gaming laptop, but they forgot their charge cord. That would be just fine though if their was wireless charging blocks. They could take a couple of forms: 1) A set of pads you could place around your house in your most popular gaming locations so you could set your laptop on it and it would be a viable source of power for gaming 2) A more family/ LAN party viable option, A Cube like shape that can charge up to four laptops and in the *Future* Could act a router or access point for an Ethernet connection for the best possible online gaming experience The only Question is... When is this technology going to be available? And when it is, How much will it cost? I really hope this is available in the future. What do you guys think about this Idea?

Whenever I use my laptop, I keep the battery removed and keep it plugged in. I leave the battery sitting on my desk and it hasn't been plugged in for quite some time. Recently I noticed a clear goo near the battery and though I split some water or someone else did. I then tried to pick up the battery thinking it may have had something spilt on it, but the battery had the goo on the bottom and was still in a liqudish state. I whipped up all the goo and cleaned off the battery (I didn't touch any of it.). So I was wondering did the battery perhaps leak? I'm afraid to plug in the battery to test it. Anyone perhaps know what may have happened. Also just examined the outside of the battery, I can't seem to find anywhere where it may have leaked if it did.
