Hello, I am planing on building a medium/low budget gaming pc but I'm not really sure about the processor. I don't wanna spend to much money. Would this i5-7500 be enough? https://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/datorkomponenter/258270-intel_core_i5-7500-4_tradar-34ghz-6mb-socket_1151 or should I spend another 50$ and get the i5-6600k? https://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/datorkomponenter/224958-intel_core_i5-6600k-4_tradar-35ghz-6mb-socket_1151 Thanks to everyone for responding:)

I have a question about overclocking. So, i will buy an Intel Core i5-6500, MSI B150A Gaming Pro, 8 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX, and an Asus EX-GTX 1050 Ti-4 GB I hope i could run Battlefield 1 in 1080p with High settings. But my cpu is only 3.2 GHz, and the game is require 3.5 GHz cpu. My questions is: -Can i run this in 1080p with High settings? (without overclocking) -If not, how can i run it? is there any components that i need to change? -if i can overclock my cpu, how can i do it? I dont really need 60fps at all, so if i only get 50fps in average... its ok.

Hello, I've been looking into building a budget gaming pc and I've seen alot of people using an Intel core i5 2400 with a Gtx 1050 ti and I was curious wether or not there would be any bottlenecking? I'm new to pc buildingand have made a few mistakes already so I want to make sure my main plan is sound before I do anything else.

http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/amd-ryzen-5-1400-gets-first-gaming-video-comparison-intel-core-i5/#ixzz4dHjXktBk In the article and video, it shows how the lowest end CPU of the Ryzen 5 compares to Kaby Lake and the cheapest Pentium g3258 using 2600MHz speed and an Overclock to 3.8GHz. The interesting thing that intrigues me is that the CPU usage in the games done in the video never reached 100%, but was close in Hitman and Tomb Raider. Performance wise, the chip offers close to i5 Kaby Lake performance, while being $30 cheaper depending on where you are. If optimized, what would performance be like compared to an i5?

Hello, everyone. I've had my first computer for a good month now, it's rocking an Intel Core i5 4460 at 3.2 Ghz. my first month using it was very good. much faster than my older Celeron based laptop that i've used for about 3 semesters, and paired with an RX 470 and 16GB of RAM ( i got a good deal on it, so why not), gaming isn't much of an issue. Now, why did i choose a Haswell i5 rather than Skylake or Kabylake, is because my initial option is to go with the i3 6100, but saw that a new 4460 was on discount and making it cheaper than the i3 so i figure why not. My question is, how long do you guys think that this chip is gonna be relevant? I know that some user still uses their Sandy Bridge chips, or even their Core 2 Quads. but i wonder if my 4460 can last me 7 years... what do you all think?

Hi LTT community! I am looking to build a dedicated server to host a couple of game servers, probably something around the lines of: 1 vanilla or modded Minecraft server || Player count: 6-10 1-2 Garry's Mod servers || Player count: 8-12 combined 1-2 Zandronum servers (classic DOOM online) || Player count: 8-20 combined (NOTE: the least CPU-intensive server of the three) If possible I'd like to keep the build small, low-power and low-noise (to the extent possible), but since I at the same time want to have decent performance I have been looking at various options for either/or. Right now I'm deciding between the following: An Intel NUC Bean Canyon with an i5-8259U CPU (4 cores, 8 threads @ 2.3 GHz) -- A small, low-power and low-noise choice. An Intel NUC Bean Canyon with an i7-8559U CPU (4 cores, 8 threads @ 2.7 GHz) -- Another small, low-power and low-noise choice. A custom build with a Ryzen 5 3600 (6 cores, 12 threads @ 3.6 GHz) -- The good performance choice. Someone said that for most game servers, having a CPU with good Single Thread Performance is important. I get that, so I started comparing the three. The Ryzen is of course superior in every way (links below), so my question to you is: Is the Bean Canyon with an i5-8259U / i7-8559U enough, or should I go for a custom build with a Ryzen 5 3600? Additional information: Planned OS: Some kind of Linux distribution, 64-bit. Planned RAM: DDR4 16-32 GB Planned storage: 240 GB SSD (for now) Budget: $650-$750 Planned uptime: 24/7 CPU Comparisons: Comparison of all three: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-3600-vs-Intel-i5-8259U-vs-Intel-i7-8559U/3481vs3299vs3302 i5-8259U vs I7-8559U: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8259U-vs-Intel-Core-i7-8559U/m543736vsm543591 i5-8259U vs Ryzen 5 3600: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8259U-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600/m543736vs4040 i7-8559U vs Ryzen 5 3600: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8559U-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600/m543591vs4040 As seen in the first link, the i7-8559U and the Ryzen 5 3600 has quite similar single thread performance.

Okay so I bought an Lenovo desktop with an i5 3350P and I want to put an gtx 1050ti in it. Is that possible. The PC has an 450 watt power supply but my question is is it possible to put an 1050ti in a N1996 motherboard. Is there support for that type of graphics card and can it output enough power. Right now there is an gtx 650 in it. I am building this PC for a friend as a present so we can play games together Already thanks for looking in to the problem<3

Hey guys, so I have a HP Notebook 15 and it has a Intel® Core i5 8265U CPU. The specs say that the CPU has 1.6 GHz base frequency, up to 3.9 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology. How do I achieve that 3.9 GHz speed? Do I have to overclock? Is it an automatic thing the laptop does? Would it improve my laptop's performance or not and would it affect my laptop in any negative way?

Hello everyone. So I recently got a gaming pc with an i3-3220@3.30GHz and was looking for a 100-200 good processor so I stumbled upon the i5-7600K and the Ryzen-1600 and was wondering which one was worth the purchase since they're both in the ~price. I'm running a PC with 8GB of ram, and a GTX 1050 Ti, since my i3 is limiting my GPU performance, oh and btw this PC was just a HP workstation but with an added GTX 1050 ti... Thanks!

Gentle folk at Linus Tech Tips; greetings. Thank you to all who read this message and special thanks to anyone who chooses to reply. FYI, I did try to search for this, undoubtedly the information is out there in internet land, but I don’t know enough to focus my queries. My question is similar to this thread: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/865605-which-operating-systems-will-the-core-i7-8700k-support/ I built a new computer out of parts, late February, 2018. I’m utilizing Linux Mint 18.3 w/ the Xfce GUI. I am experiencing a good bit of delay with response to typing. I have on numerous occasions typed an entire word before the word appears on screen, and I’m a two finger typist! Similarly, the mouse pointer is very difficult to control, often over shooting the place I intended to click. Here is a partial result of running the inxi –Fxz command: System: Host: <username>-Z370XP-SLI Kernel: 4.13.0-37-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.0) Desktop: Xfce 4.12.3 (Gtk 2.24.28) Distro: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia Machine: System: Gigabyte product: Z370XP SLI v: Default string Mobo: Gigabyte model: Z370XP SLI-CF v: x.x Bios: American Megatrends v: F3 date: 09/06/2017 CPU: Hexa core Intel Core i5-8600K (-MCP-) cache: 9216 KB flags: (lm nx sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 ssse3 vmx) bmips: 43200 clock speeds: max: 4300 MHz 1: 3600 MHz 2: 3600 MHz 3: 3600 MHz 4: 3600 MHz 5: 3600 MHz 6: 3600 MHz Graphics: Card: Intel Device 3e92 bus-ID: 00:02.0 Display Server: X.Org 1.19.5 drivers: fbdev (unloaded: vesa) Resolution: 1920x1080@77.00hz GLX Renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 5.0, 256 bits) GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 17.2.8 Direct Rendering: Yes I have been lead to believe that the cause of the delay is due to the fact that the LM 18.3 Distro does not support this processor. Allegedly, the next release, Linux Mint 19.? will support the processor, however over on the Linux Mint forums it was claimed that the release is still several months in the future. Today, Saturday 24-Mar-18, I was at my dealer and was asking about supported processors. One of the techs said that there are Linux Distro’s that do support the Hexa core Intel Core i5-8600K CPU. I myself don’t know how or where to search for such information. A search of the internet did find a review of that CPU, but precious little else. If anyone might know how to find out if a given CPU is supported by an existing Linux Kernel. If anyone might know how to find out whose distro might be utilizing that Kernel, I should be grateful if you will share that knowledge. Many thanks and respectfully, intellect of an Ox

Okay, so i was testing CPU temps and i let a 5 minute intel XTU stress test run, what i saw shocked me, why is this happening? The CPU is a Intel core i5-3550, thermal compound is Cooler master IC Essential E1, and the CPU cooler is a Cooler Master Blizzard T2 mini. I have not changed ANYTHING related to CPU clock speeds or voltage. Should these kind of temps appear with an aftermarket cooler?

Will an intel core i5 4460 handle obs record 1080p while playing GTA 5 high settings (my GPU is a Sapphire R9 390), live stream 720p or 1080p with obs and video editing 1080p. Note that I will NOT be doing all this at the same time.

I'm thinking about upgrading my aging 8120 and possibly switching to Intel if AMD doesn't release Zen. I'll probably get the i5 4460 if I switch (mobo unknown yet), but will it bottleneck a 980? If it does, I'll probably wait a bit longer and get something around the $200 range. (Or just wait for Zen lol)

Help! I'm just getting into building my own and I'm stressing out abut whether or not my parts preform well together and if there are any significant bottlenecks. My parts so far: Motherboard: ASUS Z97 pro gamer $160 CPU: Intel Core i5-5675C $277 Graphics Card: MSI GTX 970 gaming 4G GeForce $350 RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2X8GB) $160 SSD: Samsung 850 pro 512GB 2.5-inch $258 Hard Drive: WD Green 2TB $74 Case: Carbide Series SPEC-03 Red LED Mid-Tower Gaming $65 (I know it's not a complete list. Help on choosing the rest of the parts would be appreciated.) I'm trying to keep it around or under $1,500. Thanks, -Stoiseblas

Well, today I decided to clean my CPU heatsink of dust (there was a lot), and just put it back on. After I put it back on I wanted to check if my CPU temperatures were lower then before the cleaning (as expected), but RealTemp showed me a stable 105 degrees Celcius, which doesn't seem legit since the air near my CPU (i5-3570k, standard heatsink) feels cooler then before. I decided to launch my BIOS to check on voltages, ect. But when I got into it I even got an error about my CPU Temperature. Is there anything I can do to make the BIOS/RealTemp get my temperature right and not get scared to death when launching one of both? Thanks in regards, Lars
