Hello y'all, System admin here trying to understand better if there's a hardware solution to various small problems my organization faces. Most of these problems involve Adobe Indesign and Photoshop and are customer induced, where we'll receive raster type images that also scale poorly or deal with customers who don't clean up the files they send us, requiring a lot of work on the side of our Graphic Designers. I've seen that Nvidia has added RTX type features to Adobe Creative Cloud, but it seems limited. Most of our Adobe Creative Cloud users are on macOS M1 machines due to personal preference, but still have to process some things through Windows VMs. I think it would be easy to convert that machine to a physical one with an RTX capable GPU if worth it (and free up cluster resources). Pro Tip #26 – Accelerate Adobe Creative Cloud with NVIDIA RTX GPUs (pny.com) Does anyone have professional experience with using RTX Super Resolution in Photoshop that can speak on its effectiveness? Also, using modern Windows hardware with Adobe Indesign versus macOS? We do have a machine at work that we can use to test it, but it would involve a bit of work to get Adobe Creative Cloud applications running on it. I've been an RTX Super Resolution user on the consumer end since its release, since I run a 4K display. Its noticeable at best, but I could see the feature on image upscaling to be very good.

Need specs for a new build mainly for graphic designs (photoshop, illustrator and Indesign) descent video editing and mild animation... Budget US$1000... Suggestions?

So I am working on a school project that involves having 5 pdf pages created with Indesign they must be interactive. I have done everything from exporting as interactive, adding buttons, bookmarks, hyperlinks everything with destinations no matter what I do the links will not work properly I've been working on this for a long time the farthest i have gotten is that when i click on the link the page itself just refreshes any helps or ideas are welcome

-Please read all to fully understand the issue that I'm having- My xps 15 9550 has a lot of screen tearing issues in, most notably, Adobe programs. It looks like the top left 1/4th of the screen can't keep up with the rest once I move around a document within Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. It doesn't matter if it's a new file or not it keeps doing it. I haven't seen the screen tearing in games that I sometimes play on it these being: Overwatch, Gmod, SOMA and minecraft So, since I have a shit-ton of issues with my xps I contacted dell, trough facebook because no email on site. Issue list: Closing the lid sometimes results in a full shutdown of the laptop. Adobe programs show very noticeable screen tearing, even when connected to an external display. When a classmate is a bit, let's say, "too enthusiastic" and hits the same table where my laptop resides it completely freezes. When having multiple tabs (5) open the laptop becomes the slowest thing in the entire world. When charging and using the laptop the area near the charge-port (left next to the keyboard) gets so hot you can barely touch it. Battery life is nowhere near advertised life. After a small conversation and going trough the usual 'tech support questions' like: reinstall windows etc. They concluded that my motherboard must have a 'loose contact' and was overheating and would send a mechanic to my house. My initial thought was: What? A mechanic? At my house? For a repair with my msi laptop I had to send the damm thing to Poland, shipping at my expense. Since I had a week off from school I planned a repair on Monday April 24th. I would get a call before 10am with an indication when the mechanic would be at my house. But the day that the mechanic would come was here and no call. At 2 pm I contacted dell, trough facebook... , and said that I still didn't receive a call. They responded with: Hello, it seems the battery isn't in stock, it's strange that you haven't been called. It's better to plan the repair again without the battery because that won't be back in stock until May 12th. Me, assuming they only came to swap the motherboard, asked: Battery? Turns out that a new battery was needed because I mentioned the battery life was nowhere near advertised life. So they planned a repair for the next day and sure enough a mechanic showed up and swapped the motherboard. But since this didn't resolve the screen-taring, nor did I thought it would, they planned ANOTHER repair for the next day. The next day they swapped out the motherboard, ram and wireless card. But the screen tearing was still there. The mechanic told be I would receive a call from someone at Dell to tell me what's next. If it needs another repair I'm screwed because my week off from school is over and don't really have any free moments that aren't special holidays here in the Netherlands until mid July. Now that It's Saturday and I'm using the laptop again I immediately noticed that the fans were spinning while they didn't spin while doing the same thing before the repairs, I have yet to contact Dell about this, mainly because it's Saturday and they probably won't read it until Monday. Hi, I'm looking for a laptop which can handle all the programs mentioned in the tags (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro). I will be using all of the programs through school work, so I'd like something than can comfortably handle the programs. I'm not completely sure what to look for, so I'd like some help. I would prefer having a windows machine, compared to a macbook. My budget is 1000$ maximum, but anything a fair bit below it would be okay too (I live in Denmark so i have to put 25% on top of everything). Also, any advice on how important getting a screen with a resolution above 1920x1080 is?

Hello. I am looking for a laptop, that I will use for adobe programs like Ps, Il, Ind, Lr, and so on. I am looking at 13.3 to 14inches max. I would love to have i7, and at least 8gb ram. Also a dedicated graphics wouldn't be a bad idea. This laptop is going to be my on the go, and i have a pc at home for larger jobs. The budget will be around 1000, maybe 1200€ at max i can do, if it could be less for my needs, i will be happy to spare some money. I am from Slovenia, Europe. I was looking at some Dell XPS 13, Asus Zenbook 14 with screen pad, and Lenovo X1. But i am not sure what to get.

Hi. I'm a graphic designer by trade, and have noticed a significant drop in performance recently when working in InDesign files and viewing PDFs that contain numerous large graphics. My PC is a Windows 10 machine with a 7700k (OC'd to 4.5ghz), 32GB DDR4 Ram, a GTX1080, a Samsung 970 Evo boot drive, Samsung 850 Pro drive for files and 850 Evo drive for cache. I also use a 2014 i5 iMac when working from certain locations, and my Windows machine has always demolished this. However, recently the Windows machine's ability to cope with these files seems a lot closer to the iMacs. I've monitored Task Manager and HWMonitor while working in these files and it doesn't seem like anything in the system is being overloaded or driven very hard, with the exception of a CPU utilisation spike to 96% on one thread while InDesign was attempting to load a page full of assets. Is this simply poor multi-threaded support from Adobe or is there something I can do to improve performance in this area? Help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, i will have to look into getting some sort of new setup due to defects. That's about how I use my current two devices: PC: 2D Design and Layout projects (60%), Office and general productivity(40%). Notebook: Same as above, but around 20 vs. 80% Specifically I am doing Layout Projects in InDesign and (when it finally is released, in Affinity Designer), as well as illustrations and graphics design with PS, Gimp, and Illustrator. There are often big files, so I reckon since it's all 2D CPU and RAM is more important than GPU acceleration. Sometimes, the InDesign files have up to 10GBs (reports with many embedded graphics; big Posters for plotting with loads of dpi...) Until now I am using an AMD A10 5800k (=FM2 socket) build with 8GB of RAM at home and an Acer E111 with Celeron quadcore and 8GB for mobile use. I have to change something about the PC anyway, as I can't resolve its shutdown issues. I've litterally rebuilt it 3 times, with a new PSU, new Mainboard, swapped in different RAM, different system and different drives, checked all internal and peripheral devices. No issues found, PC still shuts down. I suspect the CPU or RAM to be at fault, so... I've had it and will build a new System. Specifically I'd like to get a new CPU, new Mainboard und RAM (and if the money is enough a new case) and keep the drives, PSU etc. since they're all new and/or free of troubles. This is the most cost effective solution imo. Replacing both my devices with a mobile workstation (Thinkpad with graphics Card for ~1000-1300€) doesn't seem worthwhile, as I mostly need the performance at home and for spontaneusly exporting graphics files in a different format or adding/hiding a few layers the notebook is good enough. At home I need the performance to handle bigger projects, to work with a decent Drawing pad and keyboard, monitor etc. Therefore I am leaning towards building a partially new PC. If you think otherwise, I'm open for advice. So, what's the best bang for the buck Combo of CPU, MB and RAM atm? Do I need a GPU or is a Ryzen APU okay? Is a higher clock more important for InDesign and Photoshop than more cores; i.e. should I rather get a top quadcore than a mediocre six-core CPU? Some goes for the RAM: should i rather get 8GBs of top notch RAM or 16GB with less mhz? If possible, I'd like to stay within 3-400€ for these parts, if it's particularly beneficial for futureproofing with a certain part I'd try to have 500€ on the side for this... I am looking at a bundle of AMD Ryzen 5 2400G (4x 3,6GHz), ASUS Prime B350-Plus Mainboard, 8GB DDR4 RAM (3200Mhz) for 350€ at a local store. If I source the parts indvidually and from different shops, I'm unable to beat the price by more than 10€, so I'm inclined to get everything with proper warranty locally. Do you reckon this is a sufficient setup? Or should I rather get a lesser CPU with a dedicated GPU? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey! I've got a problem. I'm currently writing/designing a CV with InDesign and used some of the Google icons. (48dp, png) When I insert the pictures (Ctrl-D) they become verry blurry. And when I save my document as PDF (1.4), the icons are still not sharp. I've tried many things: change the size of the icons with photoshop (to 60x60 px) and then insert them (useless) dont change the size of the icons (useless) ... i think the problem is the low dpi of the icons, even though theyre also made for webdesigning... if so: can i get 300dpi google icons? does anybody know good sites for downloading icons? please help! thanks in advance dr. drä

So for a Viscom task I have to design a cover for a magazine. I chose the "Terrorizer" magazine; however, I need the font for it. I have spent about the last 2 hours trying to find it, so all help would be appreciated (or another way to get the font at a high resolution into photoshop) It looks like this: (might look dodgy with night theme) I'm no graphic designer, I'm not going to pretend to be either. I have no clue what I am doing in photoshop or InDesign. Any help would be appreciated in terms of generally how to get to the end product (shown below). Also, I need a secondary font, so if anyone knows that, it would be helpful. This is what I am aiming for (black and white, this sort of setup) As I said, all help would be appreciated.

Hi all, I am making a report for my school, which I am making in Adobe Indesign. The format is Digital publishing. I know what digital publishing is used for (ipad, iphones ect) But I was wondering, can it some how be uploaded on the internet or mabye via a website that can host it. My indesign file is a bit bigger then a size of a normal ipad (1024 x 768 px). Can you some how do this and make some sort of online link? Or something like that is not possable with indesign and I just gotta upload it into my folio builder and make my teachers read it/watch it on a ipad via my adobe content viewer account? Mabye other suggestions from the experience people? Since I want to keep working in Indesign <_< Greetz from Holland.
