So as the title of this states my CPU is thermal throttling and as far as I can tell there’s no reason it should be as the temperatures reach no higher than 32c-40c. That’s when the computer is actually under use. So naturally it will get a bit hotter, but even before it started throttling the temperatures were identical to what they currently are. I’m not computer-inclined by any stretch so my ability to troubleshoot a multitude of possibilities is lacking. I’m only able to relay the information at its most basic level. Also, I will include a couple of screenshots highlighting the issue in a more in-depth manner. And, a photo of the temperature readout and other pertinent information in hopes it’ll help. Thank you!

How good will my octua NH-D14 with dual fans be? i have the worst coolermaster (cheap $25, so cheap it doesnt screw on just click into holes) with one fan and im rolling 60-80 on my I5-5600 (65W) Im hoping to stay in 50-70 range on the new I7-6700K with the DH-14. I know i could get a 7700k with my chipset but i don't overclock and don't care about the tiny CPU increase im going to be GPU bound anyway My I5 is going to be another server

so me and my friend both have similar pc specs. we are both running an i7 6700k and on mine the vcore max hits 1.248 which is fine and i have never had any problems. where as his cpu vcore sits at 1.412 which seems way too high to me. we use the same power supply and same cpu and cooler so what could be causing this? he has just changed his mother board and is still having the same problem. please note that nothing has been overclocked etc everything has always been left at default/auto etc. all help would be much appreciated, thanks

I plan on getting a i7-6700K and I would like to overclock it. Do you actually need a z97 motherboard in order to overclock? Alot of the LGA 1151 motherboards with a Z97 chipset are well into the 100$ range.

Hello everyone, i just got a brand new build - i7 6700k (not overclocked) - Asus Z170-A Motherboard - CoolerMaster Hyper212 Evo - Kingston Hyper Fury 2666 Mhz - EVGA Geforce 970 SSC the First thing i did was a Small FFTs stresstest using Prime95 version 28.5 at idle my Cpu Temp was about 31/33 C but the temps started to spike from 69 to over 84 Celcius while stresstesting after doing some research i found out my CPU VCORE was at 1.300V (default bios settings) so i changed it too 1.200V and noticed my temps went 10C to 20C lower (around 60C to 74C) using Prime95 and at idle my CPU Temp is around 25C to 33C now but i still wasnt satisfied with the Temps on FULL LOAD! i came across a troubleshoot article where someone said i should be using Prime95 version 26 So i tried that, and noticed the CPU Temps decreased to max 62C at Full Load using P95 v.26 - Small FFTs test So now my Questions are.... 1. which of the Prime95 versions are Correct or Better? (why does it have a 10C to 20C difference using the same SMALL FFTs TEST) 2. as soon as i start the Test the cpu temps spike up from 30C -idle- to 55C/59C instead of slowly moving up too 40/50/60C etc using both Versions is this normal with an i7 6700k and if not, how can i fix this? 3. should i lower my CPU VCORE even more to have lower temps ? (im a noob so forgive if i ask Dumb questions) im running at 4.00 Ghz stock (not overclocked) 4. and last, is there anyone who has the same motherboard and cpu who can recommend better Bios settings or Tips on howto set the right settings? cause im totally new with mid/ to highend hardware components and the -over a 100 New- bios options? do i need to adjust some bios settings by default when purchasing an i7 6700k? I really want my Build to be perfectly stable, specially when its not overclocked i hope someone can help me with this.. i thank you all in advance

Hello I had some great advice for my PC on an earlier thread and after doing more research (most notable on nVME SSD's) I've put together what I think is my final build. My goal is it's purely a gaming system. I want the highest possible clock speed (so I will OC the GPU and CPU) to get max performance on CPU and GPU games. I am playing on 1440p, but I will be upgrading my monitor to the Ultra wide later on. My goal is obviously as many FPS as possible and I think this setup will do that (I also love the idea of fast load times with the M2 SSDs). If you have any final remarks or see any areas where I'm leaving perfomance on the table or I could get the same performance for the same price(ish) please let me know: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($412.69 @ Newegg Canada) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($133.98 @ Newegg Canada) Motherboard: MSI Z170-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($156.98 @ shopRBC) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($89.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($399.00 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($379.00 @ Canada Computers) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Founders Edition Video Card ($919.98 @ NCIX) Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.88 @ Canada Computers) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($86.99 @ NCIX) Total: $2648.49

Hi ive had a I7 3770k oc to 4.2 for years now, and i am just now looking at some of the newer cpus, they seem to all be the same as 5 years ago, ie nothing going over 4.2 http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-3770K even http://www.pcgamer.com/intel-kaby-lake-core-i7-7700k-cpu-specs-leaked/ so really whats the point of getting one of these? unless i could just slap on a 5-6 oc on it

Hi Guys/Ladies on LTT forum! After watching almost tons of LTT/NCIX Tech Tip videos on youtube, I finally appeal to the pros on the forum for my first ever PC Build! Myself: Never really had any experience with full PC building (I had experience with upgrade module like pull out a part and plug in a new part) I consider myself somewhat average on PC knowledge (I know what a ram does and what does PCI means.. I think ) 1. Budget & Location Location: Down under Straya~ (Australia) Budget: AUD$5000 incl peripherals (Do note Australia has ridiculous % of GST and almost every tech stuff is more expensive than the US of A & Canada) 2. Aim/Reason for Build Well folks, I am currently running a 5 years old Alienware M14x R2, Second Generation Intel i7-2670QM @ 2.2 Ghz, 8gb of Ram, Nvdia 3gb GT 555M (yes that right GT.. omg Leslie does those things still exists?! ), so I am missing out on lots of big title like The Division, Witcher 3, GTA V, Rainbow Siege (etc etc). So in simple, I am wanting to build a PC for gaming (proper 60fps smoothness) and hopefully to be a VR ready rig. PS: Will be attempting to learn how to Overclock this rig too! 3. Monitors Currently just wanting 1 monitor but might consider dual to triple display in the future. I am planning to use this monitor: Acer XB280HK 28in 4K G-Sync Widescreen Gaming Monitor Hopefully will be gaming on at least 1440p, the reason I go for this monitor is because of its value, G-Sync and 4K resolution. 4. Peripherals/Parts Well this is going to be a RazerTM theme build so the peripherals will be as below: PC Itself*: Case: NZXT H440 Razer Edition Mid Tower Case Motherboard: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K CPU Cooler: Cryorig A40 Ultimate Hybrid Liquid Cooler GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB Boot Drive: Intel 750 Series PCI-Express 400GB SSD Mass Storage Drive: Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001 Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2A2400C14 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Black (Dual Channel 2400mhz) PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 Gold 850W Power Supply Network: ASUS PCE-AC68 Dual Band Wireless AC1900 PCI-E Adapter Cable Management: CableMod E-Series G2 & P2 Cable Kit Black/Green Windows: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 32bit/64bit USB Flash Drive Estimated Cost: AUD$3000 Peripherals**: Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow Chroma RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Mouse: Razer Diamondback Chroma RGB Laser Gaming Mouse Mouse Pad: Razer Firefly Chroma RGB Hard Gaming Mouse Mat Headphone: Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma RGB USB Gaming Headset Speaker: Razer Leviathan 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Bar Monitor: Acer XB280HK 28in 4K G-Sync Widescreen Gaming Monitor * I will need an expert/pro to check if all these part will fit with each other/ or if there is any room for improvement/ better parts you recommend. ** I know is a full on Razer theme (and I know some people probably think I am better of with Cosair Keyboard/parts etc etc, but I am trying to stick to a theme on the peripherals, the PC itself is pretty much what I think is within budget. Summary: In simple I just want an second opinion before I go ahead and click the order button and if any kind person would walk me thru if they recommend a first timer building this PC. Constructive feedback appreciated! Will keep you guys posted! Leslie

So I'll be building my new pc in the next month or so, but I'm not sure about what mobo I should get... Specs will most likely be i7-6700k GTX 980 Ti (EVGA) 16GB Savage RAM I'm going to game at 4k, as well as using 3D-Sofrware and Photoshop etc., but I'm not sure whether I should buy the Asus Z170A or the Asus Maxumis VIII Hero, or even a mobo from another producer... Any help appreciated!
