Hello I'm planning to get an i7 2600k and I want to overclock it but I have an Asus P8H61-M LX3 PLUS R2.0 motherboard with an h61 chipset. Can I overclock this CPU? It has a multiplier but when I try to change the multiplier it doesn't do anything because my CPU is non-K. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8H61M_LX3_R20/overview/

Hi, I just got this PC for free. It has an i7 2600k with 16GB. I'm thinking of just putting an SSD and a GPU into it since I don't have enough money to spend on an entire computer. So, I was just wondering what would be the best GPU for the i7 2600k. I'm thinking of an RX 570. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I've just bought an i7 2600K CPU for the very decent price of $180 CAD, from someone who says they never overclocked, or put any serious stress on it. I've read that the 2600K is pretty much the exactly same CPU as the 2500K, except that it has hyper-threading, which I hear will improve game smoothness due to lower frame-times, as well as improve the speed of CPU-intense productivity-application work, which I do a bit of. The only game I've tried so far with the 2600K installed is Assassin's Creed Syndicate, and it actually did feel to me that it ran noticeably smoother than it did on my 2500K, without putting any effort into trying to focus on whether I was perceiving additional smoothness. My i5 2500K CPU was running at 4.6 Ghz, which is also what I'm now running the 2600K at. However, it took a bit more voltage to get this 2600K CPU stable at that speed, with voltage with the 2600K reaching 1.42 in heavy testing, whereas my 2500K only hit something like 1.362v at most (I used a voltage offset configuration for both overclocks). Though, the 2600K CPU is also running much cooler than my 2500K was, which could be from my applying significantly more thermal paste this time than I did with my 2500K, or, maybe I just screwed the CPU-cooler down a bit more tightly this time. Idle voltage on the 2600K is below 1.00v, due to Intel Speed-Stepping, whereas I didn't have Speed-Stepping properly set up with my 2500K overclock. With my i5 2500K overclock, my idle core temps were around 34C, and max core temps in Intel Burn Test would be around 84C. With the 2600K overclock, which has a bit more voltage on it, my idle core temps are 26 - 28C, and my full-load heavy testing core temps are 68 - 71C. The Intel Speed-Stepping will be contributing a few Cs to the low idle temperatures I'm now getting. Also, the temperatures I'm now getting are with a Noctua NH-D15 fan cooler, using the low-power cable extensions, for reduced noise (but slightly decreased cooling). I used a CoolerMaster 212 Hyper Evo fan cooler for most of the time that I had the 2500K installed, and I'm not sure if the temperature I reported for the 2500K overclock only applies to the CoolerMaster 212, or if they were still similar after I installed the NH-D15, using its low-power cable extensions for reduced noise. i5 2500K overclock specs: 4.6 Ghz LLC - 50% Intel Speed-Stepping not properly set up (I probably had it set to Auto, but in the OS, the power plan had my minimum CPU state set in the OS to 100%) min voltage: 1.240v max voltage: 1.336v temps: 34C - 84C (summer temps) i7 2600K overclock specs: 4.6 Ghz LLC - 100% Intel Speed-Stepping enabled, minimum CPU state set in OS to 15% (I'm going to lower it to 10%) min voltage: 0.992v max voltage: 1.42v temps: 26C - 71C I was hoping to get a higher clock speed out of this 2600K CPU, but I got some stability issues when I left all settings as-is, and tried 4.7 Ghz, and I also don't want to raise the voltage much beyond 1.4v. That said, the same 4.6 Ghz speed, along with hyper-threading, and the much cooler temperatures, as well as finally having Intel Speed-Stepping set up properly, all make the installation of this 2600K a very nice improvement for my PC. And I got it for a good price, and with reportedly very low wear on the CPU. I hope that this system will continue to do well for the next couple of years, save maybe a 1440p monitor and another GPU upgrade. Hello, I have a ... decent Pc, i7 2600k running at 4.4Ghz with a air cooler on an asus p8z68 deluxe mobo with 16Gb ram and a decent GTX 970 gpu. But I'm starting to think that it is time for me to upgrade. I'll go all the way new Mobo, cpu, gpu, psu, etc except for my ssd and hdds and peripherals. But I'm struggling in which CPU / Mobo to get. I am not on a tight budget but neither on a very big one. basically I have around 800usd for those 5 parts (mobo, cpu, ram, psu & cpu cooler) Here is what I am looking for. preferably an i7 CPU (was lookign the 7700k) I don't like amd have had bad experiences with it and i just don't like it anymore. the mobo I like is the Asus Tuf Mark z270 1 (i love the look of that thing) 16Gb ram a fully modular corsair 650W gold plus psu and a GTX 1070. But I'm probably tightening my budget. and I would like to know which other options will be a considerably good upgrade in performance for my old pc. My pc isn't used for gaming only, I do rendering of video content and multimedia (some 3d modeling and 2d animation) so... I'm a bit lost atm.

Hello! I curently have an i7 2600k paired with Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H rev. 1.1. The problem is this board does not allow overvolting, so I cant go further than 4,3 Ghz. I want to get a new motherboard to overclock my CPU to the max. I have to choose from the ASRock Z77 Pro4, the ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 and the Asus P8Z68-V PRO GEN 3, all second hand. What should I get?

I've currently got a system I built sometime around 2011 and have slighly upgraded since it is: Windows 10 64bit ASUS P8P67 - PRO i7 2600k 24GB DDR3 RAM Asus Strix 970 4GB 512GB Intel SSD 3TB worth of HDD 1000W Corsair HX Modular Power Supply I was thinking of moving to a i5 6600(k), undecided as to wherther the k edition is worth the addition £30 (~$37) that is costs extra here in the UK. - I would also then need a new motherboard, and DDR4 ram. Would I see much of a difference from the 2600k to a 6600k? I mainly use my pc for CS:GO, although I do play titles GTA V and modern releases? I'd also like to do some more editing of gaming captures. My main reason for upgrading is that I believe my current motherboard has been damaged when it was stored out of use for a few months, and my system currently fails to get past boot with various errors with drives, fan errors, overclocking errors and then can freeze up unexpectedly for no real reason. (I've tried different RAM, PSU, HDD/SSDs, reinstall Windows etc) Just generally the system seems worse for wear and I would like to update it to newer specs and potentially reduce a bit of power consumption. My budget would probably be around £400-500 for the new motherboard, CPU and RAM.

How Do Just done a system build from scratch to replace a old phenom 955 setup. So i started her up, I hear no POST, nothing on screen, but all fans are spinning (cpu gpu case). The motherboard should give a 2 digit led code, but thats not on, but there is red and amber lights on the motherboard. could it be the MB ATX connection, as i had problems squeezing both connectors onto the same bit. i7 2600k Maximus IV Extreme Z Noctua NH-L9i 16 gb ripjaw R9 270x (2gb) Maxtor stm3250310as HDD EVGA 600w 80+ psu Core v51 case can anyone offer some enlightment to what it could be. Hi! I have a 2600k - 980ti system. But I have a problem... The cpu sits at 60% utilization and gpu at 80% utilization in most of the games that i play...(far cry 5, dying light, 7 days to die etc) the cpu is overclocked to 4.6ghz and the gpu to 1500mhz core/2000mhz mem. Ram isn't a bottleneck either - 16gb 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 (frequency isnt high but latency is very good).

Yesterday my pc restarted itself(crashed) while playing CS GO for first time I just downloaded it, and played for 10 mins and bam it restarted. After that, I couldnt launch any game (League of Legends or Minecraft), especially BF5 or new Cod, but can use pc for everything else However, now I can play LoL but not the demanding games. Is my psu dying or did i ruin my rx 580 ? It was overclocked btw to 1500 mhz, but now its stock 1411 mhz ( saphire) My psu is coolermaster v650 gold 80 Setup: I7 2600k at 4.6 Rx 580 16 gb ddr3 2x8 1tb hdd Coolernaster 650

Is it worth upgrading from i5 2400 to i7 2600k ? I can only use second gen cpus on my mobo and idk if it worth it... also i will soon upgrade from gtx 1050 ti to rx 570 is that worth it too..? and i sure hope my 450w psu is good enough for that combo

Hello! I am thinking of swapping out my 3570K@4.3ghz for an i7 2600k, I can get it for around £30 and I think that's a reasonable price for the bump in multicore performance provided I can overclock it to at least 4.5ghz. I realise that the Silicon Lottery plays a part in determining overclocks, but I was hoping to find out what other's had achieved and what core speed, voltage and cooler was used. I currently have a Noctua NH-U14S which is keeping my i5 under 70 degrees with 60% fan speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You ?

Hello! My friend was thinking about upgrading his CPU from i3 3220 to an i7 2600k or i5 4460, which one should he get? He would get both used. He could buy an i5 4460 and a motherboard with 8 gb of RAM from his another friend for 130-150 € or he could buy the i7 2600k from ebay for about the same price. He uses his PC for playing games and for video editing. His budget is 100-150 €. Thank you!

Hey, I posted my rig in the forums, and I need some opinions on what I should do for cooling on my GTX 980. So here we go, on my GTX 980 I have the blower style cooler and while gaming it will hit around 81 degrees centigrade, but I do have a custom cooler (arctic Accelero Extreme 4) But I was wondering what looked better in my system, so here are the links below: Before with custom Cooler (on a GTX 760): https://imgur.com/a/297HY After with stock cooler (GTX 980): http://imgur.com/a/jmzwz So there you go please let me know what looks better and thanks for reading! This is my gaming PC that I have been building up for the last couple of years. I started out with lower end parts and slowly through that time I upgraded to high spec parts, to the point where I am at now. I have made small changes recently and I have tired to keep a theme going with this build. And There are a few more things that I will change as well. I have plans to water cool the GPU, and I will swap out the red sata cables as well. My Specs are: CPU:Intel Core i7 2600k (Overclocked to 4.5Ghz) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GPU: GeForce GTX 980 4GB (Overclocked to 1450Mhz on the Core) RAM: 12GB DDR3 1333 Mhz XMS3 PSU: Corsair RM750X Watt PSU 80+ Gold Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 HDD1:120 GB Intel 120GB SSD x2 HDD2: Western digital Cavair Green 1TB HDD3: Seagate Barracuda 1TB Case: Fractal Design Define S Pics are I can't upload them to the post for some reason it just tells me I am only allowed to upload 20MB when I am attempting to upload files that are KB in size >_> http://imgur.com/a/jmzwz EDIT: Need some opinions on what cooler I should have on my GTX 980 I have the stock cooler currently as shown in the link above, but what looks better, my Current cooler or the cooler I had on my GTX 760? https://imgur.com/a/297HY

Hey guys! For the past few weeks now, i've been experiencing some really slow render times. For those who are curious I currently run a youtube channel mainly based on this game called trove haha. But back to the topic, i've been looking on ebay and saw that the i7 2600k's go for about 160-180$ which is relatively cheap, hence its a 2nd gen processor. The computer i have right now i built when i was 13 back in 2013, but now i think its time to upgrade. My specs are an i3 3220, MOBO: MSI B76MA-P45, 8 gbs of corsair vengeance ram and 6gbs of another ram brand i salvaged from my alienware totalling to 14gbs of ram, for the graphics cards its kinda embarrassing, its an evga gtx 650 ti boost sc edition, for the power supply its a 450 watt corsair something, and a 500gb wd blue. Recently i picked up the LEPA aqua cooler from frys for 45$ which was a steal, but i have an i3 3220 which is not overclockanle so it's pretty much useless. I bought the liquid cooler thinking i was going to buy an i7 2600k so i can overclock it to about 4.5 and maybe upgrade my gpu on the road as well. As a 15 year old, i have a limited budget so if you guys could help me that'd be great thanks!

Hi folks. I just bought a small 300mm deep 3U rack case for my computer and everything is kind of a tight fit. I belive I have ok airflow through my case now with two intake fans in the front and passive exhaust in the back. The PSU fan also faces inward so it also kinda works as an exhaust fan. I have a older Core i7 2600K CPU and a Asus Sabertooth P67 motherboard. The CPU uses the stock intel cooler. Just to test the temperatures in the new case i changed the profile in my bios to the "performance" setting which i belive lets my computer run at a higher clock speed. Sorta like an automatic overclock. After this I ran Cinebench R15 and the CPU runs at 4430MHz for most of the benchmark, but drops to approximately 3800MHz towards the end when my CPU reaches 98degrees celsius. I belive this is called thermal throttling. I was already planning to buy a Noctua NH-L9i CPU fan in order to get a little quieter system. Now I might be able to fit a Noctua NH-L9x65, or maybe even an Noctua NH-D9L if i find somewhere else to put my HDD cage. So after all that context i guess my questions are as follows: 1. How much lower temperatures can I expect with the above mentioned Noctua fans over a stock Intel cooler? Will I be able to avoid thermal throttling even when running at 4430Mhz in benchmarks with any or all of those fans? 2. The Noctua fans come with so called "low noise adapters". Do I really need those when the fan is PWM controlled? Or it it only to limit the MAX RPM of the fan? 3. Is there a significant reduction in fan noise in the Noctua fans over the stock Intel cooler? 4. My idle fan speed on the Intel cooler is around 1000RPM. Will the Noctua fans be able hold a lower idle fan speed as a result of the larger heatsinks? Thank you for your time!

I was wondering if I should switch my 4460 for an 2600k. I wanna get into rendering and editing but I'm not too sure about the longevity of the 2600k. Its quite an old cpu I was wonderig will my i5 be enough or should I get the 2600k? I want to keep my system for as long as possible without needing to upgrade. Thanks for you help in advanced.

yesterday I got a i7 2600k from my friend but the AI suite II software of my motherboard is showing a "Warning! SB voltage 1.806 V " pop up. AI suite II is also showing some other voltages in red,I'm not that good at all this check them in the images below Is it a problem with the CPU or is it normal ?

Is it worth it to move up to an i7 2600k? They're pretty cheap on ebay, and the motherboards are dirt cheap. I've got an i7 950 that wasn't a great over clocker(wont post past 4.2 ghz even with 1.5 volts) I mostly play cpu intensive games like arma and battlefield. I don't wanna drop down to the i5 as they're typically $15 less and dx12 should benefit from hyperthreading. I was planning on buying a haswell i7 after broadwell launched to save some cash but these look pretty good too. Also if I upgraded to a second r9 290 do you think I'd run into any cpu bottlenecks?
