My Cpu bottlenecks my GTX 1070 and i watched now some Benchmarks for the i5-9600k and would like to upgrade to it from a i5-8400. is this worth? -
Hello i have a problem and i think my gaming build is bottlenecking. I have upgraded from my MSI Aero GTX 1060 6GB to a HP founders edition GTX 1070 8GB and i love the gpu so far but there is a problem. The gpu usage is not always 100% (see screenshots) only in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 when i am above 2k feet. On other AAA games i still dont get 100% gpu usage. I uninstalled the old drivers + the new drivers for the GTX 1070 but didnt helped then i did a complete reset from Windows 11 and this didnt helped. But i hope you guys can help me here, thanks in advance! if you want more games with test please comment down!. sry for my english Pc Specs Windows 11 Build 22000.556 GTX 1070 8GB HP Founders Edition (Driver Update Version 511.79) No Overclock Intel Core i5 8400 2.80GHz No Overclock Mainboard MSI H310M PRO-D Intel stock cooler SSD Intenso 512GB HDD 2TB Seagate 16GB RAM 2400Mhz (XMP is active)

Hi, I wanted to ask if I Should upgrade my cpu? I was thinking to only add extra ram but if it's better to upgrade the cpu and keep it for 4/5 years then i would rather upgrade the cpu than to add only extra ram. i know that upgrading the cpu i will have to change mobo and ram. I mostly use my pc to edit video's whe i have time i play some games, GEAR 5 and City skylines. i'm open for intel or AMD CPU: i5-8400 2.8ghz coffee lake Mobo: B360-A-PRO (MS-7B22) RAM: DDR4 16GB GRAPHIC CARD: GTX 1060 6 GB

Hello everybody. I am planning on upgrading my PC for since I got 1440p, 144Hz monitor and my GTX 970 won't cut it anymore. But I am thorn apart between CPUs for this resolution as it is more intense on GPU rather than CPU and do not want to waste money as the holidays are coming. I will mainly game on the computer and probably won't do any content creation. I am trying to chose between Ryzen 5 1600, Intel i5-8400 and Intel i7-8700 and do not plan on overclocking as overclocking requires much more money for better board, cooling, PSU and I don't think the extra cost is worth it for just few frames in 1440p. I made the below 2 builds. Please give me your thoughts. Note: I have not included SSD as I already have one. Which pairing would make more sense? Assuming I would ONLY play games on my computer with Discord and maybe a few chrome tabs open and running a 1080p 75Hz IPS monitor? I don’t care for ultra graphics, so would the 1060 be worth it for me? Really, I have been playing on low settings all my life and have NO problem with the guality whatsoever. Games I play most: Rainbow Six Siege Battlefield 1 Rust PUBG CSGO Oh BTW i3-8100 + 1060 pairing costs exactly €55,- more!

Hello. I am looking to buy a CPU. The title is pretty self-explanatory. With that said, here are some of the specifics of what I need: - Best bang for the buck - the i5 is $241 and the Ryzen 5 is $188 (should be able to get a mild discount on whichever I buy, but prices won't deviate too much); - 3D and 2D (nod) animation, editing, and rendering - no crazy effects or over-the-top particles, but I do expect "production value" to increase with the improved system; programs are Anime Studio Pro and Blender 3D (if it matters) - Gaming - 1080p, 60fps; AAA titles; I know benchmarks depend on the specific game, so I'm asking about the overall gaming performance, and - - futureproofing (I know this is hard to tell, but I just want to know it will not become irrelevant/dated fast as did Kaby Lake); - Best match for either 1060 6GB, RX 580, or 2060 (haven't decided on a GPU yet); - I am not looking to overclock; Note: The prices are shown in US Dollars, but they actually reflect the regional equivalents; that is why the numbers look so random. I will update if I come across better offers/prices; for the record, Ryzen 7 1800 might be an option, although I can't find one at the moment. Katarn

Hi! Im wondering if you guys think I should buy a RTX2060 or upgrade my cpu (have to buy new mobo and ram also)? Im looking for better performance in games, but can only afford one of the upgrades at the moment. My cpu and gpu: i5-3470 3.2ghz (used 6 years) 8gb DDR3 1300mhz GTX 970 (used 2.5 years) I know a RTX 2060 will be bottlenecked by the i5-3470, but it still gives better performance then with my gtx 970 and a i5-8400 or i5-9600k with 16gb ddr4 2666mhz, doesnt it? An upgrade with i5-8400, B-mobo and ram would cost the same as a RTX 2060 (500$). An upgrade with i5-9600k, Z-mobo, ram and cpu-cooler would cost 260$ more. Will most likely cpu or gpu prices drop in the future? What do you guys think would be my best option?

4ghz Can i5-8400 reach 4.0GHz? Mine doesn't
Mr.Stork posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Specs: http://specr.me/show/8ee My 8400 mostly reaches 3.89GHz. I've never seen it go over 3.90GHz I have it for like a year now. Is something wrong? https://imgur.com/a/tSxqUbl The image is of task manager, but also use CPU-Z it's the same. Also, is it possible to go beyond? like overclock? Ik it's not unlocked, so is there anything that can be done to increase perf? -
Hey everyone, I am looking at building a gaming computer and cannot figure out the differences between motherboards or which one to get. The specs I will be running are; Intel i5-8400 GTX 1070 16 Gigs (2x8GB) at 2666 MHz I have the possibility of getting a SINGLE m.2 drive in the future, and plan to run 2-3 HDDs/SSDs through SATA connections (not sure if that really matters or not, thought I would mention it). I have been doing a lot of reading on the different series of motherboards, I have decided to go with the H370 series or B360 series. I have a hard time understanding which of the two would be better for my use case, I don't fully understand the difference of having more PCI-E lanes (as far as I can tell, that's the only thing I should really care about) If anyone has any posts to explain how to calculate PCI-E lanes or a ELI5 of why I need more or less of them for my rig I would love to read about it. Also is there anything else I should look into between different models of the same series? For example I don't understand the differences between these two boards 1, 2. the specs list show there are a few differences between them, however I don't understand how they affect me. Thank you for all and any information you can give me!

Hi all, I have created a video to demonstrate a stuttering issue I've been having for quite a while " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy_9iomUxQY ". Whenever i try to game on one monitor and watch a video on my other it creates massive stuttering issues though not increasing the GPU and CPU usage beyond what it can handle. Does anyone have a solution to fix this or is it something i just have to get used to? Does overclocking your GPU and CPU damage the parts in the long term? CPU: i5-8400 6-core 6-threads (Cooler: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX GT TGA (TUF)) GPU: MSI RTX 2060 Super Ventus XS C OC When Gaming my Temperatures are: CPU: at 90%+ usage 55 to 67 degrees GPU: at 90%+ usage 72 to 76 degrees

What is a good bang for the buck motherboard for i5-8400? Preferably h370, mATX, no compromise, and 4 dimm slots. Open for suggestions for ATX h370 and z370. I want to spend the least I can but with no compromises, no lackings. Please do give me info, comparisons, and reasons. GPU will be GTX 1060 6gb. Don't need those unnecessary features like RGB lighting but still okay if the bang for the buck includes it. Something like that mindset.

Hello, i bought Scythe Ninja 5 for my Fractal Design Define Mini C. Is it okay if i use fanless heatsink to cool my i5 8400 using the heatsink from the Scythe Ninja 5? No ram clearance issues but with the fans on, the fans will covered up my RAM, just for aesthetic. Any recommendation like more powerfull fans etc? Thank You. Current set up: - 2x Phanteks PH-140TS in front as intake -2x Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP-12, 1 top and 1 back as outtake -1x Kaze Flex 120mm at the top as outtake. -RAM: 8gb Hyperx Fury DDR4 -MOBO: B360M Bazooka -GPU: Asus Strix Gtx1070ti

Hi guys, Quick question. Can this build boost the i5-8400 to 3.8ghz on all cores. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel - Core i5-8400 2.8GHz 6-Core Processor ($178.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI - B360M PRO-VD Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($56.98 @ Newegg) Memory: Team - Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($154.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Drevo - X1 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($30.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Seagate - Constellation ES 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($60.97 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB ARMOR Video Card ($734.98 @ Newegg) Case: Cooler Master - MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($45.98 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair - CX (2017) 650W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($32.98 @ Newegg) Total: $1296.86 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-06-11 13:32 EDT-0400 Considering the following: Stock Cooler will be used Stock thermal paste will be used No delidding will be done Bios settings won't be touched. (No MCE stuff) Intel XTU won't be touched (No Voltage stuff) GPU won't be overclocked Will only use the fan included with the case. (1x 120mm fan at the rear, in push config, I think) Cable management will be average due to the small case and non modular PSU Will be used inside a room with an ambient temperature of 32 degrees celsius. No external airflow or airconditioning will hit the case. Basically, this will be a plug and play system, hoping that the CPU would boost to 3.8ghz on all cores when loaded. My biggest worry here is the GPU. It's a known variant of this card to be super toasty. Will that have a big effect on CPU temps as well? At what temps do you think the CPU and GPU would be at?

Hello, I have listed everything I want for my budget gaming pc. The budget is 800$. Is there anything I can get cheaper or anything that is better or he same for a lower or same price. So I am currently in the process of thinking up my first gaming PC. As there are sooooo many variables to consider when choosing parts I've opted to seek aid from the vast tech community I have my eye on two CPU's at the moment, both are at a relatively cheap price but I am not sure which one is better for the price it is listed at. My part list can be found here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/hW8THh

Hi! Recently, I noticed a significant FPS drop on certain games on my pc(especially more gpu intensive ones.) A week ago i benchmarked my pc on Grand Theft Auto V at Ultra Settings(advanced graphics are all off) and it was around 80-120 fps. But recently, I went online and it had only about 40-50fps. None of the settings were changed, I have all the latest GPU drivers, and a mcafee scan came back without finding anything. I wanna see if there’s anything I can do before calling Dell up. Specs(prebuilt alienware aurora r7): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Intel i5-8400 8GB Single Channel DDR4 @2666 460 Watt Alienware PSU 1TB 7200rpm SATA HDD 16GB M.2 PCIe Optane Memory I’m not sure abot the other specifications because the website doesn’t say anything else about the hardware

Hi guys I've been a both PC and console gamer for a while now, but I've been hesitant about really getting into pc (mainly bc of the cost). I've finally built up the balls, done some reaserch and saved up the money to do so, but I need your help with the details Here's what's in plan so far GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 6GB/3 GB CPU: Intel i3-8100/Intel i5-8400 MOTHERBOARD: MSI B360 PRO-VH HDD: WD BLUE 1TB SSD: WD Green 120GB M2 PSU: EVGA 600W RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4 2400Mhz (1 8gb stick and a 4gb stick) CASE: Cougar MG110-W MONITOR: MSI Optic G24C (23,6", 144Hz, 1ms)/Samsung LS22F355FHLXZS (60Hz, 22", 5ms) You can already tell my main doubts I can technically afford this build as it is, but I'd like to have more money left to get a nice keyboard, headphones and games The main question is: are 144Hz worth it? And in that case, is the difference between the processors worth getting a crappy keyboard and headphones? Is the push for the 6GB necessary? If it isn't worth it, then I might as well go for the i3 and hell, maybe even a 1050ti, since I won't really be able to see the difference in framerates if I'm staring at a 60Hz monitor However, in a couple of years this probably will not get me 60 fps in AAA games on anything above medium quality, how much better off will I be with the i5-8400? If I go cheap on all of the options above I'll save US$370 (470 if I go for the 1050ti), and it would work great at least for this year (PUBG, Fortnite, CSGO and BF1), but I don't know if the money saved will be worth having to upgrade a year or 2 early As much as I can research, I don't have the experience you guys have; I'd love to hear some suggestions and, of course, feel free to recommend items that are not on my list
