So randomly yesterday my PC decided to limit my download speeds to 100mbps up, and down. I don't know why and I thought it was the cable so I replaced the cable, still not fixed. I plugged the new cable into another device and it gave internet speeds I was expecting. I then thought "okay, it's probably dirty contact pins in the 2.5gig ethernet slot" so I cleaned it out with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton wool bud, waited for it to dry and still no change after all that. I then thought it was most likely a windows setting that had randomly enabled it's self that I can't find, and I mean I looked everywhere. I tried changing the Speed & Duplex to "Auto Negotiation" but I realised that was already set properly. I tried updating drivers, nothing. I tried unplugging the ethernet and plugging it back in to see if that's the issue, no luck. I came across something in task managers "network details" tab however that seems to be my problem, there's an image attached showing it but it seems the 100gbps or 1gbps has been disconnected and the 100mbps has connected it's self randomly. Does anyone know the solution to changing this? Edit: While doing a test on fast.com, the internet was at 100mbps and then suddenly jumped to 700mbps at the end of the test, then back down again when re-testing. I don't have any idea what could cause this when it's clearly limited to 100 mbps

Budget (300$ or 400$): Country: US Hello everyone, I am currently building my own gaming PC and I have been adjusting my part list to create the perfect rig for my needs. However, with recent news about the MSI situation, I am now hesitant to go with the motherboard that I had chosen from that brand. As I plan to use my PC for gaming, streaming, programming, 3D modeling, machine learning, and deep learning, I am looking for a motherboard that can handle my needs and is reliable. My budget for the motherboard is preferably around $300 to $400. I would appreciate any recommendations or advice from the community on what motherboard to choose. As for the rest of the parts I'll list them down below. Intel Core i7-12700F 2.1 GHz 12-Core Processor (purchased) Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler (not purchased) TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (not purchased) Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (not purchased) EVGA XC3 ULTRA GAMING GeForce RTX 3080 10GB 10GB Video Card (not purchased) or 4080 12gb? Phanteks Eclipse P600S ATX Mid Tower Case comes with x3 fans I believe (purchased) EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (not purchased) Noctua A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 158.5 CFM 140 mm Fan x2 (not purchased) total my budget for this entire build would be roughly 2k not including tax.

Hi! I have owned this PC since early 2021 and have encountered near to no problems, yet starting last month, my games have been lagging quite a bit with no explanations. I have as NVIDIA 1050 Ti (outdated, yes but I am a light gamer) and the processor is INTEL(R) Core(TM) I5-3470 3.20TGHz. When I open up a game, It takes 50% of my memory even on low graphics. I have attached the task manager report from when a game is open and not open to show the amount of memory being used. When searching it up, it says to update drivers, check CPU temp, check for viruses, etc, and I have done all of that to no avail. I just need help on how to fix it as I'm quite braindead when it comes to these things. Can anyone please give me an explanation and a fix to this? Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I am a new member to the LinusTechTips forum form the UK. So, hi everyone! I have decided in the next few months to purchase a gaming PC. However, I am torn. I know what specification I want, but I am unsure whether to build it myself (to which I am capable of) or, Buy a pre made model, but still have the customisation of my own choice of pieces. I have never built a PC, but from watching plenty of videos and researching on the matter, I feel confident to do it. However, I do have worries about messing it up. Thanks, JamesTay.

I Need help. I want to start playing black desert online again. i was using my laptop before. it has a gtx 980m 16gb i7-4720HQ 2.60ghz base. i have a samsung SSD 850 m.2 250gb. i have 16gb ram idk how fast it is i couldnt find it in device manager. anyways i also have a desktop all i can say is on desktop i also have a gtx 960 and i i5 processor but it has a way larger base ghz speed at 3.20GHz then my laptop i also have 12gb of ram. it has no SSD. my question is which one should i use? the desktop or the laptop. most would say the laptop. but i hear this game doesnt mix with laptops well seeing that theres a ridiculous amount of texture and mesh pop in. and i hear that esecially with this game laptops seem to over heat and the cpu and gpu tend to throttle. my laptop doesnt have the best cooling setup. so can anyone tell me if the laptop is still that much better. also the laptop has integrated graphics (i dont use them) but i hear that can effect some things too. sorry for my grammar i was never good at writing or typing.

Hi, i've recently been looking to buy a budget Gaming PC, and but since i don't have much or any knowledge of computer hardware and was unsure whether or not the hardware i've been looking at would "bottleneck". I have other options from the same builder but the main difference is the graphics card, which is why i'm posting in under the Grapics-card part of the forum.(I'll move it if i shouldn't have made this here) Here's the components for you: Motherboard:Asrock Z97 ANNIVERSARY ATX CPU:Intel core i5 4690K RAM:2*4GB Kingston Hyperx Fury Graphics-card:Geforce GTX960 2GB OC (I honestly have no idea what that means) SSD:Kingston 120GB Hyperx Fury Harddisk:1 TB Harddisk Thanks in advance, i'd also like to know if any of the components are outdated. Enjoy your day. (Or night)

I do online schooling and do it wonderfully on my Msi Gaming laptop. Earlier this week I got in a pinch and just could not use that unwieldy laptop since I had to work in the car. I turned to my girlfriend who has a macbook im unsure of the specs but it just worked. That thing was sweet I had like zero leg room, crammed in the back of a car and still pumped out like 3 hours of homework like a breeze. It was a great experience with how light and how quick the mac os is. To make the story shorter I am looking for a somewhat budget laptop that is fast for schooling, maybe like ultra light gaming, I can be in a pinch no worries and be ultra light. It needs to run full windows the programs I use are light but wont run on chrome os. Please dont let me turn to mac I hate to go down that rabbit whole. TL;DR : I am looking for a lightweight windows laptop that can run maybe light games and be lighting quick with having alot of tabs and docs open at once. Will be a primary driver for my online schooling. Thank you any help would be much appreciated

Hello, Currently I am experience some major technically difficulties. My screen has gone and created these blue pixelated lines. This appears in windows boot-up and bios. I have fixed the issue once already however it reappeared the next day. However next day, the issue didn't appear instantly it appeared after several restarts as my PC was restarting every 15-45mins. Then after 4-5 restarts later the blue dots appeared. Please Help me solve this issue. As I do not have the money to buy a new GPU at the time. As the pandemic is not exactly helping my situation. My Specs are : Intel I5-9600K Asus Prime Z390-A Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 4x8GB 3200mhz MSI GTX 1660 Gaming X 6GB EVGA 500W PSU DELL E2318HR Monitor if this makes any difference. Win10 Pro Extra Info: Device Manager labels my GPU with a hazard sign and says Code 43, I have uninstalled my GPU driver and reinstalled it including orders version if it helped. The blue dots do not appear after restarting PC if HDMI cable is connected to MB vs GPU. However when connected to MB in Device Manager GPU is labeled with hazard icon. Hey, I have a big issue with my Headphones/Headsets and my mic. I have 3 headsets. First the Razer Man o War wireless, secondly the Steelseries Arctis 7 and the Beyerdynamic DT990pros. Dont know why but i have them xD. Aswell as a Blue Snowball. All plugged into my PC. The Problem is, i have this weired sound bug, which is reaalllllly annoying. I basicly cant play anything without hearing this stupid noise everytime there is some sound. Also my mic turns off for no reason, in discord for example. But the catch here is that it only happens ingame. In Windows everything works just fine.... But instantly when i join into a game the sound gets distorted as well as my mic, it turns off so my mates cant hear me anymore. I allready installed all Drivers i could find as well as New Graphics drivers and all the Microsoft directx and stuff like that. I allready reset my Windows and made a clean install.... and then i tried to install all drivers again. Then i tried to deactivate the all Sounddevices in my Devicemanager and restarted my PC as a article mentioned it could help. Im pretty desperate, i hope i could get some help here. Please... P.S. Please dont mind my pretty bad language, dont used to write in english, not my mother tongue :D.
