Hello, I've been having a weird problem with audio over HDMI to TV and I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem, and if so, if they discovered a solution for it. I have an RTX 3080 Ti connected to a TV with a 4K 120hz connection, and the audio works fine for probably around 30 minutes, then it gets distorted and eventually completely cuts off. I have tried 3 different HDMI cables (rated for the full 48gbps spec of HDMI 2.1) and they all eventually showed this problem. I have found a temporary fix, but it's still annoying to get up mid-movie and mess with the audio settings to get it working again. That is to change the sample rate from 48000 hz from 44100 hz and then back to 48000 hz. I don't have any idea why this fixes it temporarily, but it seems to. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue, and if so, found a solution I could try? Thank you!

I am redoing some wiring for my living room TV and receiver setup including putting all my canceling in the walls. Problem I'm running into is that the new locations are pretty far from each other, especially when routed through the walls ~75ft from source to TV. Any recommendations for in wall rated AOC hdmi 2.1 cables with eARC 75ft and over? The first option I looked at was by fiber command but they are sold out of everything between 5/ and 200ft https://fibercommand.com/collections/hdmi-cables/products/copy-of-irovf-xg-fiber-optic-hdmi-2-1-cable-integrated-extender-4k-8k-120hz-hdr-for-smart-tvs-projectors-home-theater-receivers-gaming-smart-home-av-best-4k-8k-connection-installation?variant=40869091344540 Monoprice also has a cable but I could find any third party reviews: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=38631

Budget (including currency): $250 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 4K 144hz Gaming (PC) + 2 MacBooks Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Trying to get 3 computers working off same keyboard/mouse + have USB peripherals to work across all 3 devices. I have 2 LG Monitors, a Caldigit T3, and two Brydge docks for the MacBooks (one for air (personal) and one for MBP (work)). Been trying to find a KVM switch that supports HDMI 2.1 to two monitors, would be okay with getting rid of the Caldigit if there was a KVM within reason for 3 devices - does not need to be power over USB-C for Macs as the docks have 2 USB C (one video/one power) Has anyone seen a good HDMI 2.1 KVM for 2 Monitors with 2 or 3 sources? IR would be welcome to tie into automation via Switchbot hub. Probably will have all the USB connect to a hub for a single input to KVM. I have only found a few potential options: https://www.easycoolav.com/products/8k60hz-4k120hz-hdmi-21-usb-30-kvm-switch-2-port-dual-monitor https://cklkvm.com/products/ckl-2-port-usb-3-0-kvm-switch-dual-monitor-hdmi-8k-60hz-keyboard-video-mouse-peripherals-switcher-for-2-computers-2-monitors-with-audio-922hua-4 https://cklkvm.com/products/ckl-2-port-usb-3-0-kvm-switch-dual-monitor-displayport-1-4-8k-for-2-computers-pc-screen-keyboard-mouse-peripheral-sharing-selector-box-supports-uhd-8k-30hz-4k-144hz-4k-240hz-32-9-with-all-cables-622dp-4 **Not opposed to DisplayPort

So I have a setup that gives me a normal monitor and desk setup. And I will be adding on the other side of the room (albeit a relatively small room) an LG C2 OLED to play games on a TV. I'm seeking a 20 FT+ HDMI 2.1 cable but when I've looked for these I've seen reviews about them downrating to 4k 60Hz instead of 4k 120Hz on these "cheap" cables. If anyone could find a reputable 20-25 FT HDMI 2.1 cable that'll actually give the rated spec I'd be in your debt. I've found some but none seem trustworthy from the reviews I've seen saying they don't work at 4K 120 Thanks in advance TL;DR: Seeking HDMI 2.1 that is 20-25 FT long and isn't a scam and can actually produce 4K 120Hz video at that distance

Hello, My parents have bought a 8k TV. Now they want to see the diffrence. My Laptop only has a HDMI 2.0b and DP 1.4 via usb c. Is There some way to get an adapter? I would also accept something like Displaystream 1.2. Greets William

Hello everyone! I currently run a laptop and external monitor setup with an Asus G752VY laptop connected to Asus Swift PG248Q Monitor, I have been trying to achieve anything higher than 60Hz as it seems to cap my FPS. I just bought a new HDMI 2.1 cable as I have researched that is is capable of achieving those higher Hz but I am having troubles and I need to reach out for assistance. Anything over 60Hz my monitor will turn black and come up with "Out of Range" error until it resets to prior settings. I recently bought a LG OLED65CXPUA and saw that I need a 2.1 cable to take full advantage of it. What are some good cables to buy? I would like them to be at least 5ft or more.

So first of I have a 55" LG OLED 55CX TV which I use as my main Display for my Desktop PC right now. It is OLED and 120Hz with Nvidia G-Sync so really it's awesome. Since I have now experienced OLED in Games I won't go back to something like IPS and will only settle with OLED which means that this is more about knowing what's out there currently and what's planned to come out in the near future. In the Future I wanna get a Steering Wheel setup so I'd probably want Curved for that tho I have never tried a Curved Gaming Monitor. So what I'm looking for in particular is: between 27 and 32 Inches if flat Panel, 32 and more if curved at least 120Hz of course Has to have at least Nvidia G-Sync, I have an RTX 3060 GPU btw. would be cool if it supports AMD Freesync Premium aswell at least 1440p but would prefer 3840 x 2160 aka "4K". only care about HDMI 2.1 or alternatively Displayport (2.0 ?) would also work since I'd just adapt it to HDMI 2.1 since my GPU only has DP 1.4a x3 would like to have a USB C PD port which can provide at least 65W of power so that I could plugin my HP Envy with one cable and also charge it other than the USB C PD port I don't care about a USB Hub or other gimmicks only care about height adjustments Companies I'm avoiding for Displays: MSI Razer Acer Dell HP Budget is 1200 CHF max, this won't be the Samsung Neo G9 or a LG OLED 48CX so yeah. Has to either be directly available from the manufacturer who sells in Switzerland, through amazon (Germany) or my Consumer Electronics Shop of choice: https://www.digitec.ch/en

I've got a GT 1030 in my media PC which has an HDMI 2.0b port. My TV supports HDMI 2.1, but because the card itself is limited to 18Gbps I am stuck with 4k30. Is my best bet to run 10 bit at 4:2:2? I've heard this is better than 8 bit 4:4:4 for movies but I will also be viewing text in windows. Am I understanding this correctly? In theory I could get a GPU with HDMI 2.1 but I expect that would be prohibitively expensive. Alternatively, I could seek out a card with displayport and then convert from displayport to HDMI 2.1...

Hi all My family is wiring our new house for TVs and in some spots we need a 15ft HDMI cable (the shortest length it can possibly be). I wanted to put in HDMI 2.1 cables because they are the latest and I know I am only getting one chance at wiring this house so I want to use the newest standard. Does anyone have any recommendations for a REAL HDMI 2.1 cable as a lot of the ones on Amazon are snake oil and don't actually meet the HDMI 2.1 standard. I know Linus did the HDMI cable test video but he didn't give model numbers for the cables and also I think I need "In wall" rated cables to pass inspection. Thanks all

I am looking to upgrade my graphic card to a 3080, for the HDMI 2.1 port and also retain gsync compatibility on my B9 OLED, I also have two separate 27" monitors I wish to hook up the computer, but since only one of them can use DP I am looking into retaining my current NVIDIA card and use that to drive the two 27" displays, also as it will hopefully allow the 3080 to dedicate all its resources to the B9, I am curious if this sort of setup multiple GPUs of different model but same make to drive separate displays, is possible and if there are any issues I should be aware of, thank you for any help.

Wondering if anyone knows how I can connect my xbox series x (which seems to only have an HDMI output) to my 120hz 1440p monitor and take advantage of full use since the monitor is a little older it has hdmi 2.0 and displayport. So basically I am wondering if a HDMI 2.1 to displayport cable will work correctly?

Hi, I have put a few posts up now asking for opinions on displays for PS5 and have got some really helpful advice. Originally I was leaning towards a monitor, however I have re arranged my room and now have room for a wall mounted TV. I went into Curry's (an electronics store here in the UK) and seen a TV which I loved the look of which I will link below. the reason I am posting on here is because the TV has HDMI 2.1 and a 120hz display however, according to a video online, Dolby Vision can't be used when running the TV at 4k 120hz due to a limit with the hdmi 2.1 bandwidth or something like that. Can anyone confirm this? Also is it worth getting the TV if I can't use the Dolby Vision on the highest setting? I want this TV to last me a long time hence why I like the idea of HDMI 2.1 even if it can't be fully utilized right now (because I doubt ps5 will hit anywhere near 4k 120fps). So today I decided to compare my RTX 3080 FE to my friend's and we quickly noticed that his GPU was running a fair bit quicker than mine. At first glance we thought it was just temperatures and throttling that were causing the difference in performance, but we wanted to be thorough so we both set our voltage to 0,875 and frequency to 1950Mhz using MSI Afterburner and reran the benchmarks. We also put the fans to 100% just to eliminate any throttling (GPU's ran at max 65c). With both cards running at the exact same speed and with the exact same drivers I was still seeing lower performance scores in both 3DMark Timespy and Basemark (both DX12 & Vulkan). I tried reinstalling my drivers and removing Geforce Experience, but it didn't help; I was still seeing performance around 10% slower. So, then I decided to try running my LG CX48 at 4K 60Hz instead of 4K 120Hz, and lo' and behold I was suddenly getting the same performance as he was! The benchmarks were all run at the same settings and resolution (only thing I changed was my display resolution and refresh rate). 3D Mark Timespy DX12: - His GPU: 17 220 - My GPU (4K 120Hz): 15 800 - My GPU (4K 60hz): 17 270 - My GPU (1080p 60Hz): 18 220 Basemark VULKAN: - His GPU: 18 727 - My GPU (4K 120Hz): 16 110 - My GPU (4K 60Hz): 18 860 - My GPU (1080p 60Hz): 18 647 Any idea what could be causing this? As soon as I enable 120Hz at any resolution my performance drops => I've never seen a GPU whose performance has been affected by the resolution and refresh rate of the display before. This is true for both 10 bit and 8 bit alike. Is this an HDMI 2.1 issue or just an issue with the display in question? I'm thinking it could have something to do with DSC (not sure if this affects performance or not). My TV: LG CX48 OLED using the latest 03.11.25 firmware (the one that fixes the Chroma 4:4:4 and G-Sync issues). My driver version: 456.71 WHQL Maybe someone using the same GPU or 3090 and CX TV could try to verify the performance drop I'm seeing?

I just wanted to make a post here as I recently ended up with a 34xbr970, and was trying to get the HDMI input to work with one of my Wii U's. I tried a lot of things, and the Wii u just would not display untill I ended up using a HDMI 2.1 cable, and not one of the super cheap knock off ones. thenfirsr one that works was the Belkin certified cable I keep around to troubleshoot HDMI for other things as I know it works. I am now using the cable matters brand braided 2.1 cable, as I have found it to be basically the same as the Belkin cable. All of this to say, if anyone is having problems with HDMI handshaking or weird behavior, sometimes just getting a better cable works, and I am very much wanting the labs to have the cable testing done for ltt so I can know if the cable matters one is the same as the Belkin and both are really HDMI 2.1 or if they are just the best of the cables that are almost HDMI 2.1.

Hello all, My pc has been having really bad distortion/static when audio is playing. It will happen with all audio from the moment I start my pc (I.e. notification sounds, video playback, game audio etc.). My pc is plugged into my TV through the HDMI on the GPU for video and sound out. I have an RTX 3070Ti FE and it only happens with this card, not my last one which was a GTX 950. For example, when I watch youtube, the video will start completely distorted and after a while (10-20sec) the sound will go back to normal. However when I do anything whilst the video is playing in the background the distortion starts again. I have tried so many things at this point. I bought a new HDMI 2.1 cable thinking that was the issue, but no fix. Reset everything on the pc, still no fix. Uninstalled and reinstalled Nvidia drivers with no luck. Even updated to windows 11 but that hasn't fixed anything. To check if it was my gpu, I put my old GTX 950 back in the pc and the issue disappeared, put my RTX 3070Ti back in and the issue is back. Does anyone have any advice because it is driving me mad, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

I’m using a 2022 OLED TV with four HDMI 2.1 ports. Naturally, I’d like to try out 4K120 but my current laptop only has an HMDI 2.0 port, therefore I’m limited to 4K60. The laptop also has a Mini DP 1.4 port. Recently I stumbled across a Mini DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter which claims to support 4K120. According to the manufacturer, this contraption requires Mini DP 1.4 with DSC 1.2. My laptop is equipped with an Nvidia 1050 Ti which does not support DSC. So, in terms of bandwidth the laptop effectively has a Mini DP 1.3 port. However, Wiki states that even DP 1.3 is capable of 4K120 4:4:4 with 8 bpc (24 bit/px), e.g., 4K120 requires data rate of 25.82 Gbit/s, whereas DP 1.3 maxes out at 25.92 Gbit/s. So, where’s the catch? Should I try this product?

Hello, I am using a Gigabyte 43" AORUS FV43U 4K 144 Hz HDMI 2.1 HDR. Previously used Vega 64 and everything was fine. When I installed 12900kf + Rtx 3080, screen always turns black / turns off for a few seconds when entering fullscreen (eg fullscreen minecraft) then turns back on. Is this normal? Any solution? Wasn't like this before and makes using fullscreen applications feel a lot more sluggish. *EDIT* Think it might have something to do with HDR being enabled / disabled in full screen. You can see in the video it goes from HDMI 1 HDR --> HDMI 1 even if I disable HDR. Maybe its normal for HDR monitors? https://photos.app.goo.gl/9zaLoHgbeqYffeQd6

So helped my BF installing his brand new 4080, no display, and defaulted to his 7700X's igpu, why? Change PCIe to 4.0 and that was solved, easy trouble shooting. But you know what is the hardest part? Getting into UEFI to change the PCIe link speed... Shut down his PC without display (and without just hold the power button) is already quite frustrating. But no thanks to Microsoft hiding UEFI option so well on Win 11 (you have to hold shift and click "restart", quite hard to do without a display) (Go into settings -> recovery -> advanced start up and click "restart now" also is quite hard to do without a display.) His monitor is quite fancy, a MSI 4k 144hz 32inch with a built in KVM, because the keyboard and mouse are hooked into the KVM, he gets no input if the monitor goes to sleep. He gets around that by using the G915's Bluetooth to wake the PC... an extra step every boot. he worst part? The Display Port. It will go to sleep during boot and sometimes it won't come back when it time to enter the password. In the 4080's case, it's even worse, We have to turn the monitor off and back on again to get a display... (It might be something with graphics card firmware, but we decided to switch to HDMI even after updating the firmware.) Switch to HDMI 2.1 everything is fine. Even though the prompt for UEFI bios can still be missed (I know you can change the post screen duration, but given he don't overclock, I opted for faster boot time instead). There should be fast initiation 1080p option for displays. So they can display the UEFI/BIOS, then they can try display the resolution from the input. One more thing: I always felt strange is why OSD won't work without a display input... no one ever explained that.

Hi! I cannot find (it seems) a cable that can do 4k 120hz over thunderbolt 4. I have a Asus Vivobook with only 2 video outputs: a thunderbolt 4 and a measly HDMI 1.4b. I want to pair it with a Sony 4k/120hz TV over a hdmi 2.1 but I cannot find a proper cable or adapter. I did get a cable from "unlink" that supposably can do even 8k60hz and had good reviews on Aliexpress (in my Romania I cannot find anyone that sells anything close to this). All drivers are up to date, bios and everything on the latest firmware and still I cannot even go past 4k30hz. I tinkered a bit on the HDMI 1.4b though and managed to lower format to 4:2:2 and reached 4k60, but on the thunderbolt port I had no such luck. I have it plugged in the right ports on the TV and all seems ok but still refuses to work. Can you point me in the right direction? The notebook has a 3050 mobile without a mug switch and a 11th gen i5 cpu. I'm also attaching a screenshot of the cable used.

Anyone know where I can find an HDMI to displayport adapter? The issue is to connect my Nintendo switch (device source, OUTPUT) to my Asus vg259qm via display port. (monitor, INPUT) It's the only available port after connecting my PS5 to one of the HDMI ports and the other is coming from my rx 7900xtx via HDMI 2.1 Is there an adapter that does that?

I'm running an AMD WX2100 GPU (DP 1.4) on an older HP SFF PC as my media machine, mostly streaming YouTube through Chrome on Windows. I have a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter, which works well 90% of the time. The 10% of the time I will either: Be unable to wake the machine, and need to power cycle it (it will shutdown gracefully if the power button is pressed The display will black out and come back a couple of seconds later and I will be unable to increase the refresh rate to 60hz I think drivers could be playing a part in this, as Windows continues to install a 2021 driver no matter how many times I install a newer 2022 version, even after I disabled the setting that allows Windows to install drivers automatically. Could this also be a cabling or driver support issue? I am considering throwing in the towel and buying a used GT 1030 that also has DP 1.4 and see if that works better. In general I have not had good luck with AMD cards... (I know that 2160p60 *should* be possible with HDMI 2.0, but I have never been able to run above 30HZ when I tested this with the non DP 1030 I have. I expect this is due to me not enabling subsampling, but I would like to avoid doing this, hence the DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter).

i have an acer xv282k kv monitor and it supports 4k hdr at 144hz and i have a 4070ti (aka 4080 12gb lol) and i can use hdmi 2.1 or dp 1.4 with dsc but i don't know which is better to use. i want to get the best quality at the highest Hz i can also not use dsc if possible because i personally prefer that there is less messing around with data/video signal. apparently hdmi 2.1 can support it easily and dp 1.4 has to use dsc but according to the internet they both can and cant handle the data also both can and cant use full chroma. out of the two which would be the better option to use?
