Hey, First post on here. Just got in some used parts for a budget pc I wanted to build. specs: i5 9600k, msi gtx1070, 1tb m.2ssd (wd black), 550w psu, 16 gig G-skill, z390-H motherboard. All used parts, m.2 is new. After setting up the system I went to power it on and... no post. I have troubleshooted for some time now with no luck, and concluded that I needed a bios update. Asked the previous owner of the motherboard and he had used the same ram, and an i9 from the same gen. Would this mean that bios update would do nothing? VGA light comes on after a couple of minutes, so think there could be a GPU related problem instead? Attaching a photo of the CPU as its the only thing I feel looks off (middle top right). Have tried without gpu as well without any luck. Mono was shipped in normal bubble wrap and no anti static could this be an issue even if I get lights to everything? The screen also detects me plugging it in and out but no HDMI detected. have tried different screens and cables there swell. Anything helps, as I have built a fair few systems but never encountered a no boot sitch...

With a lot of games i play my GPU spikes to 100% and they either freeze or CTD after a minute or two. When it freezes I am still in control of the game(I can hear myself moving around or shooting) and in rare cases the game unfreezes after a couple of seconds. The affected games are usually not even GPU heavy. The issue is often fixed by changing my settings to low, but I didn't buy this computer to play games on low. The only game where i get an error message is SCP: Secret Laboratory Event Viewer shows this event for all of them: OCCT and 3DMark Stresstests run just fine with comparable results to when the computer was running ok. Temps are also normal. Specs: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi (Bios Ver: E7C37AMS.130 Ryzen 5 3600X 2x8GB G.Skill DDR4-3000 GTX 1070 8GB be quiet 650W What I've already tried: reinstalling drivers installing old drivers reinstalling Windows Over-/Underclocking GPU MemTest (nothing unusual)

As we all know graphics cards are impossible to come by and even if you do they cost 3x their value.... I figured I would buy a 1070 to last me for 6 months and then sell it and buy either a 3070 or 3080 if stock levels out, however prices seem to be incredibly high, £300 to be exact for this one that I have been watching... is this normal now??? And is it worth it? im in the uk btw (eBay) if that helps, hope this makes sense, I haven’t slept in 2 days , many thanks, stay safe, Lex

This was not an issue before purchasing my new monitor (Acer XF273S). This monitor has built-in speakers, and the speakers play audio from Windows just fine through the DisplayPort connection. What no longer works are the on-board audio ports... the three on the back (on the motherboard I/O panel) and the one on top (combo headset jack). I think what is happening is that the system is treating the monitor/GPU as a new sound card, disabling and hiding the on-board audio (much like how a separate GPU disables on-board graphics). I can't even see the on-board audio in the device manager, and attempting to install the driver for it does nothing. I also tried going into my BIOS to enable on-board audio. Here are screenshots of my playback and recording devices as shown in the Sound control panel: Additionally, in the NVIDIA control panel, the audio section gives me no options to even just disable audio over HDMI, if I wanted to try: Is there a way to force the system to allow both the monitor audio and the on-board audio to be used at the same time (or at least allow me to switch between the two output devices, and allow the line-in input to show)? Basically, what we are trying to do is connect a headset (headphones with microphone) to be able to use the microphone, but the one audio port on the monitor does not support the microphone input. So I would need to use the ports on the computer, which are disabled and invisible in all the settings. I made sure all relevant drivers are installed, all updates run, etc. The rig in question: HP Omen 870-255xt GTX 1070 Acer XF273S (connected to GPU via DisplayPort)

Is 370$US a good price for a used Asus GTX 1070 Turbo? I am currently upgrading my prebuilt pc's GPU. It has a 750Ti. Online I saw an auction for a used Asus 1070 Turbo for 340CHF (370$US) and it seemed like a good price, so I bought it. But is it actually a good price? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Ik got a bit of a problem with my GTX 1070 graphics card. While i was carefully cleaning the cards backside with a brush, a very small component fell off. It was a tiny square opject. Then i noticed one of the components was weardly twisted on the graphics card. It still held on to one of its pins. I tried to carefully bend it back in place but it fell off while trying. Here are some pictures of the parts and the place they originated from on the graphics card. The number of the component that fell off is 0542. I assume that the card will still work since the component could already have been lo0se before i cleaned it for the first time. But i can't be sure. I have the card for about 2 years now. What can i do to fix this problem? Is the part important or not? What is your view on this problem? Thank you for reading. I would appreciate your opinion.

I have check crystaldiskinfo my ssd health is 90 percent I am more inclined to psu not being good enough for the card but could it be the card have issues? It is a second hand card. A little bit about myself. My name is Shaun my nickname is Witchart. I am 44 years of age and I have been using witchart as my nickname for over 30 years. Do you remember CB radios?. Well, witchart was my handle and I still use it today. Over the last 20 years, I have built hundreds of Pc's for friends and family also myself but they have always been your cheap office type and sometimes a cheap gaming pcs. Nothing that looked really good and defiantly no water cooling or RGB. NightWalker I decided to build Nightwalker after hearing about the new Xbox X coming out. I was impressed with the specs and thought yes I want one. I have never owned a console before it just seems so powerful I thought it would beat most PC's (I had not looked into the latest gaming tech for PC's for over 10 years) I was really out of the loop, I delved into the Net and started to do some research. Within 10 minutes I knew I wasn't going to buy an Xbox, no it was going to cost me a lot more money but I was thunderstruck to see what was out there and how gaming on the pc was thriving. After a little discussion with the wife, That's all I am saying. Research started. My first port of call was YouTube I was looking at other peoples personal builds to help inspire me. Wile, I was churning through YouTube I came across a vid titled 4 gamers one pc, I thought that sounds mad had to watch it. I thought it was cool. That was the first vid I watched from LinusTEch tips. I don't miss a vid now. After a few weeks of research, I was finally was happy with My parts list. And decided to dig deep into my pockets and start spending. I managed to save around £300 pound just by shopping around and also managed to get a coupon from MSI for 30% off any graphics card. Parts list Case Thermaltake core p5. Wasn't sure what colour to go for, I decided the snow addition would be cool I didn't order this online I went to my local pc tech store. Unfortunately, they had just sold the last one. I wasn't waiting until they had replenished their stock so I purchased the black one instead. Which I regret now. I feel a paint job coming on in the near future but for now it I'll do. PSU Fractal design 550w. 550w PSU should do nicely for my system the only reason I decided on the Fractal design PSU is that I already had the Fractal Design Kelvin S36 AIO cooler. Motherboard MSI X370 Gaming pro Carbon Trust me I found choosing the motherboard to be the hardest choice I had to make. It was between three Mboard and the Carbon one because I found it on Scan.com for £120 really good deal back then. CPU Ryzen 5 1600x I Think the last time I built an Amd Machines it was a K6-2. I was really impressed with what I had learnt about the Ryzen CPU family. NightWalker is not just for playing games I spend Loads of time in Photoshop and other CPU demanding applications, so going for a CPU that has 6 cores 12 thread for just under £220 Yes I did it, I was the proud owner of a 1600x Get in. Memory Adata XPG 4gig x 2 3000mhz Idiot Idiot idiot I did not buy XPG 3000mhz no I got 2400mhz I must have pressed on the wrong link once again Idiot, At the moment I have overclocked it to 2666 which seems to be ok but will be upgrading to 16 gigs I will then sell on my 24000mhz ram on eBay. Cooling Kelvin S36 AIO. I really liked the idea of water cooling Nightwalker, well the CPU at least and I like overkill so Kelvin S36 AIO was my choice I liked the look of it and I also know its not the best but it would be good enough for my Ryzen and also you can add to it, cool That didn't take me long sins it would not fit in my Core P5 without been at least extended, so some soft tubing and red cooling fluid was needed. Graphics card Msi GTX 1070 Armor The sweet spot well for me at least, money was an issue but also with a coupon from MSI giving 30% off any Graphics card of there's that is. The only one I really liked the look of and would fit in this build was The armor and sins you can get a GTX 1050 up to 1080 TI in that style I thought 1070 would be quick and smooth enough for the price. I was going to get 1060 before I got the coupon from MSI. Storage Adata 256gig SSD and a 4TB Seagate HD These drive were not new I pillaged them out of another computer I had knocking around but will be buying m.2 sometime in the future. To help brighten Nightwalker up RGBRGBRGBRGB may be a little rgb I think you get the message. I also thought it would be good to have some black light thrown in for good measures as well. 8 Cold cathode UV 100mm tubes YES. I didn't really like the look of the cables that come with the Fractal design PSU so I went online and got some white extensions, they look so much better. I think its time to show you how She (always she just like My car) is getting on. Not finished yet I will be adding a hard tube loop after Christmas whooo cant wait. I nearly forgot to mention some little cheap toys crawling all over her just for fun.

Hey everyone So I've been noticing lower fps in games and slightly more stutter. I have been busy with work so haven't had much time to throw myself into single player games. Mostly been playing csgo and LoL. I was wondering why the other day I got lower FPS in csgo roughly 150ish with a GTX 1070 and i7-8700. Today I check MSI afterburner and it seems that my core clock and memory clock are stuck. The memory clock doesn't ever go pas 810Mhz but majority of the time sits at 405Mhz. I wonder if this card is "dead". Anyway if anyone has any ideas why this would randomly happen let me know ! My 3060 will arrive tomorrow but still pretty bummed to find out about the 1070 Thanks in advance !

Hi All, (first of all I would like to point out that English is not my mother tongue. You may find some grammar mistakes in my posts. Just tell me, if something is horrible wrong. I always try to translate without any help of translating programs. Thank you mates!) Linus always points out, that anybody who is interested in PC Tech should use his forum. So here I am I am doing homeoffice because of the Corona Virus. Also all my plans (holidays, concerts, etc) are cancelled now... It looks like we even have to cancel our wedding in August... Crazy time! My friends and me are gaming a lot at the moment. Because of all this free time. And now I am thinking about upgrading my PC, as it is a few years old already. But I am not sure where to start. Maybe you are bored or interested enough to help me out My PC: Intel i7 4770 (non k) MSI Z87-G45 Gaming 2x Corsair 4 GB DDR3 1600MHz 2x 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz (I had them laying around from an old workstation) Gigabyte Windforce OC GTX1070 be quiet 500W 80+ Gold Several S-ATA SSDs and one mass storage HDD Old Corsair Carbide something Case (forgot the number) The GTX1070 is the last piece I upgraded. All in all a good package I think. But I got a new Monitor in a sale some time ago. ASUS ROG PG278QR 144 Hz (165oc) WQHD is asking for more horsepower now. I don't even touch the 144 fps in the most Games at the moment. Except for Games like League of Legends of course. Metro Exodus and PUBG are more hungry for example. I "only" get around 100 fps on medium settings in PUBG. I know I know... I complain on a very high level. But now where I have this Monitor and all this free time... I want a better experience. What would you upgrade first? Would my i7 4770 bottleneck a RTX2070 (Super)? (I am bound to nvidia because of the Gsync Monitor) Would I gain more fps changing the i7 to a Ryzen? Because of faster RAM etc.? I am very interested in your thoughts Thank you. Andy

Hey everyone! I've found myself quite in a pickle ... I have this config: -Intel I5-6500 -ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition -Kingston HyperX Fury 2x4 8gb 2400Mhz -MSI B250 gaming pro carbon -Scythe Shuriken Rev. B SCSK-1100 -Thermaltake view 27 -Chieftec smart 500w I'm thinking about upgrading this setup, given the fact that COD warzone is suttering as hell. I don't know what keeps it back, but I'm guessing CPU and RAM bottleneck. SO.. I've tought that I should upgrade to a faster ram, faster CPU and a PSU for the juicy OC-ing.. The problem is, I don't know what to get and I'm on a budget. My budget is around 150 eur (not including that I sell my old parts, like psu, cpu, motherboard and rams). What do you think guys (or girls), should I start on the Ryzen path (like 2600 or 2600x), or stay on the 1151v1? If so, what parts would you recommend? (Should I sell my case too, and get a microATX one?)

Hey guys, i built my first pc in December 2018, gtx1070, Ryzen 5 2600, 16gb 2600 ram, cl 16, b450 motherboard. I recently got a 1440p, 144hz display. i mostly play bf1, 4, & 5. I'm getting round 90 fps average, highs 110 fps. Im planning on upgrading end of the year to the new ryzens, but for now im considering investing in a noctua d15 to try to oc the 2600 Ryzen 5 as much as possible, and later when i upgrade take the d15 to the new processor and motherboard. so my question is if i would get a significant improvement in fps that it would justify buying a d15 now to try to squeeze some more power out of it. Thanks I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

This is my build concept for a solid gaming and streaming PC for streaming PC and Console games like Skyrim/fallout 4/ H1Z1 and VR games too. Location is US and budget is around 1600$ including peripherals, the lower cost the better obviously. Probably wont overclock but would like to have the potential for it down the line if I choose. I toyed with a more beefy build awhile ago and decided to tier things down to something much more practical. The monitor I plan to get is not found on PC part picker but is on amazon here at 199$. Will likely get 2 monitors so I can stop using my tv as a second screen and start using it as a tv but I won't be getting that right away so I'm not factoring that into the budget. The theme of this build is black and white, that's why I wanted to chose a case that is minimalistic. I do not want water cooling. What improvements can be made? Do you need Hybrid to have water cooling on a GTX1070 . Or can you buy your own and install it for cheaper price? IS IT A SCAM IF situational. Can I have the downside and upsides? Thank you senpai . I will suck your **** :^)

This is my very first published PC build on here so please bear with me. Anyways... So, what started out as a humble PC build escalated into something I spent too much money on, but dang it! I am proud of it! I originally had an AMD FX system in this PC but then knowing me, I wanted more power. Seeing how this was at the end of November 2016, I figured I would go for an Intel 5820K or a 6800K. I found a 6800K for a decent deal of around 380 dollars US. So why X99 when all I was going to do was play games, browse the internet, and maybe some minor video editing? Bragging rights, really. I know I could've definitely accomplished the same things with a 6700K or even a 6600K. I figured if I was going X99, I may as well get the best I could afford. I was shopping all around for a good looking X99 motherboard to go with the whole "military" feel with my C70 case and then I stumbled upon the Asus TUF X99 Sabertooth. The reviews are a bit sketchy and the price on it was a bit higher than I was expecting but what the heck, I thought. I bought it, it came in and now it was time to wait for the RAM. Got me some Corsair Dom-Plat's DDR4 2400, 16 GB's of it. I want to get another set to fill out 2 more of the RAM slots but that'll be for another day. Ok so now I needed a power supply. Hmm, RM1000i it is! I won't be posting a picture of that since it's just a power supply after all and you'll be seeing it in the final form of the build since my case has no shroud. Anyways, time for the case. I mentioned it was a Corsair C70 in Military Green. And I also bought some cheap, low-rev, quiet, white LED 120mm fans. These would do the trick for me since the case itself has plenty of room to move air and I wanted a somewhat quiet gaming experience. I'm not super picky about that type of stuff since I usually have a loud AC unit in the same room too... As for cooling, I got me a H100i v2 (or GTX? They're both the same I think). This ought to keep the CPU cool, even with the OC I plan on doing. Maybe one day I'll do a custom loop... Oh yeah, storage! Almost forgot about that. I'm going to bring over my 250 GB Samsung 850 EVO and 2x 2 TB HGST Enterprise HDDs. Had this combo from previous builds so I know it works. Should be plenty of storage. I figured HGST since they're basically owned by WD now and they were decently priced. Alright, now I think I have all I need. Time to piece it all together! Personally, I think it looks alright. I am still very much new at the whole cable management thing, I mean look at the mess that is behind the PC lol.. But hey, it all works! As for why the PSU is facing up instead of down, I keep my PC on a carpeted floor since my desk is occupied with three monitors and some speakers. I didn't want to choke the airflow to it. The PSU fan itself never really turns on except on boot anyways so I think we're fine. The temps usually stay around 40C most the time. Time to try my hand at some overclocking. Thanks to the numerous OC guides on YouTube, I was able to follow and get a rather interesting result. 4.5 GHz at 1.385v. Yes, that's a little higher than I would like, especially compared to Haswell-E but I think it should be fine. As long as I don't touch 1.4v. After completing an hour and a half of stability testing on OCCT, I'd say that we're stable. Temps stay around 65C on load and 33-35C idle. Okay, it's Christmas time and I got me some money saved up (thanks ma and pops) and my work place also got a store bonus. SWEET, it's time for a new GPU! The GTX 970 that I have in it is in no way a slouch but I figured, get a new GPU and give that one to my cousin so he can enjoy some glorious PCMR Anyways, I got me a GTX 1070 SC from Best Buy (thanks price match!). Time to throw it in! Also, I can't forget the finishing touches... And here's the PC as a whole. Front fan controller is a NZXT Sentry 2. As I mentioned earlier, I am very much aware of the spiderweb that is behind the PC. It looks like garbage and I'll clean all those wires up one day but this is all just a test to see if everything I had bought (peripherals and audio equipment) works. So where did the name "General Whitby" come from? Random really, was just thinking out loud and I knew I had to have a name that tied in something military-related. Whitby? No clue. I guess I knew a guy with that last name and couldn't come up with something cleverer. Final price? ~$1700 iirc not including Windows or peripherals.

I'm on the brink of buying a new laptop but I can't decide on what configuration I should get. 1) GTX 1070 with a 4K 60fps ips panel 2) GTX 1070 with a 1080p 60fps ips panel or 3) GTX 1060 with a 1080p 60fps ips panel I don't want to get a 120hz panel even if it comes with g-sync because it is a TN panel and I'm planning to start dabbling in digital art, so colour accuracy is important to me. (but not to the point of needing 100% aRGB at this moment) Each config comes with it's own set of problems: The first option doesn't allow for games to be played at Max setting at the full 60fps at 4K and I hear playing games outside of the native resolution will cause the images to lose it's quality. The second option (since it doesn't have g-sync) would introduce tearing with v-sync off because of high frame rates. I have read that Adaptive V-sync, or V-sync with with Triple Buffering might help but will still introduce input lag. (Also, is Adaptive V-sync the best solution to tearing outside of G-sync?) The third option has the best GPU for the screen, but it won't be able to hold out as long as a GTX1070 at Max settings with newer and more demanding games come out. Because I haven't yet bought the laptop, I feel that I ought to be a bit picky about it so I can make the choice that would give me the best experience as I will be using the laptop for the foreseeable future. (up to the next 5 years) The laptops I'm currently considering are the Alienware 15 R3 and the newest Razer Blade (Which has a GTX1060 and 4k touchscreen option, but that would have the same problems as option 1 and will be more prominent.) Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
