We didn’t recommend using the Chinese driver in our mining GPU video, but now, we’ll show you how to make Nvidia’s drivers work for yourself – And how to go deeper. Buy a P106 (mining "GTX 1060") on Taobao: https://lmg.gg/8KV9W Buy a real GTX 1060: On Amazon: http://geni.us/rveAUH On Newegg: https://lmg.gg/8KV6B Download link for GeForce driver 416.34: https://lmg.gg/8KV93 Download link for HxD: https://lmg.gg/8KV9m Download link for DifferentSLIAuto: https://lmg.gg/8KV9P Download link for 7-Zip: https://lmg.gg/8KV9p TechPowerUp Forum Thread: https://lmg.gg/8KV91 How to mod the P106 driver Make sure Secure Boot is disabled and Windows is in testsigning mode Check your motherboard manual for information on how to disable Secure Boot Testsigning can be enabled by opening up a Command Prompt or PowerShell as administrator, then typing: bcdedit /set {current} testsigning on bcdedit /set {current} nointegritychecks on This can be done for a single boot by going to Start -> Power -> Restart and holding shift while clicking Restart, then choosing Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then Startup Settings - Once you get to the menu, choose to disable driver signature enforcement. After restarting, you’ll know it worked if some text is displayed in the lower right corner of your desktop Download and extract the GeForce driver using 7-Zip In the extracted folder, go to the Display.Driver folder and open nv_dispi.infusing Notepad++ Search for lines containing 1B87 (P104-100), 1BC7, (P104-101) 1C07(P106-100), and 1C09 (P106-090) Change each line's Section number to match the 1C06 (GTX 1060) line - On 416.34, that means from Section110 to Section108 On the third set of lines, the Section numbers will be different; Again change it to match the 1C06 (GTX 1060) line - On 416.34, that's Section109 to Section107 Save the file Install the driver as normal – Windows will complain that it’s unsigned; Click allow. Right-click the desktop, go to Display Settings, then Graphics Settings From here, you can force any game to use the P106 to render while your integrated GPU is used for display output. How to perform the SLI mod Make sure Secure Boot is disabled and Windows is in testsigning mode Check your motherboard manual for information on how to disable Secure Boot Testsigning can be enabled by opening up a Command Prompt or PowerShell as administrator, then typing: bcdedit /set {current} testsigning on bcdedit /set {current} nointegritychecks on This can be done for a single boot by going to Start -> Power -> Restart and holding shift while clicking Restart After restarting, you’ll know it worked if some text is displayed in the lower right corner of your desktop Install both graphics cards you wish to attempt SLI with The first three characters of the PCI device ID MUST match to enable SLI To find out what the device ID is, right-click the start button and click Device Manager In the Display adaptors list double-click the card you want to check. Under the Details tab, click the drop-down and then click Hardware IDs. It will look like this: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F07&SUBSYS_86701043&REV_A1 VEN_10DE means Nvidia, while DEV_1F07 is the device ID – In this example, an RTX 2070. So in order to run SLI, the other card’s device ID will have to also start with DEV_1F0 Download and install the GeForce driver as usual Download and extract the DifferentSLIAuto package Go to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and sort by date Go into the newest folder beginning with nv_dispi.inf Copy the nvlddmkm.sys file to the DifferentSLIAuto folder Open the install.cmd file in the DifferentSLIAuto folder in Notepad++ Replace the three mentions of nv_dispi.inf in install.cmd with the folder name we got the nvlddmkm.sys file Open the nvlddmkm.sys we copied in a hex editor (HxD) In HxD, go to Search, then Find, then click the Hex Values tab Search for 79050fba6b240e Position the cursor at the start of these values Replace with C7432400000000 (no need to delete first, just type over it) Save the file Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking Click Start, then Power, then hold shift while clicking Reboot In the menu that comes up, click Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then Startup Settings (on some PCs, this may be behind a “show more options” arrow) - Once the PC reboots, press 5 on the screen that appears. Run install.cmd in the DifferentSLIAuto folder as administrator Reboot into normal mode Enable SLI (hopefully)

I have heard that 5120x1440 240hz 10-bit colours is only achievable with Display Stream Compression, But.. my GTX 1060 is not compatible with DSC at least that is what I know. But I have also heard about DisplayPort 2.1 which is able to carry 80 Gbit/s which is enough for 5120x1440 240hz 10-bit depth colours, But will DP 2.1 work with my GTX 1060 and the odyssey g9 neo ? All I want is to run 5120x1440 240hz 10-bit colours doesn't matter how. btw I WILL GET a better GPU but just later and until then I want to have some fun with the g9 neo (I did not buy it yet but I will do very soon)

I'm from North Macedonia, I got an old optiplex for free from a family member and i want to put a gtx 1060 in it, I own a xbox for my AAA games I just wanted a pc for my more niche games. i got to see around and not only gtx 1060 but every type of graphics card is ridiculously overpriced, 120 eur for a 3 gb gtx 1060, I understand pc parts are more expensive over here but when i go to ebay for germany i can find plenty of 6 gb gtx 1060 for like 60 eur. what to do?

I know that I need an iGPU to play games on P106-100 (I do have one) but I am curious if I can use another dGPU instead. So right now I'm using GTX 650 Ti and there is a seller who sell P106-100 for only US$30. So I'm really interested to buy one. But the problem is I will lose my CPU overclock if I enable the iGPU (Skylake non-K OC on Z170). So I wonder if I can use my 650 Ti as display output instead.

HELLO, This is my first post in this forum! And Well, Back to 2019 i bought a GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5X (GTX 1060 GALAX REDBLACK), since she came to me, she sowed a little hight temperatures, arround 87 degrees in her stock fan courves, and I changed it (to a mode agressive one, and change the thermal paste too) after this, she get arround 83 degrees (90/100 degrees in hot spot), but in last months I heard a sound in her fans, and surprisely, one of than it s crashing and making so much noise, I searched in market for a replacement fan and I didint found anything (just a similar fan -Ga82s2h t128215sh galax gtx1060- but is not the same fit), I searched in Aliexpress, Ebay, Facebook... After this im considering to use 2 regular 120mm fans in my Gpu, but I dont know if they will hold her temperatures! Can Anyone Help me with this please?? And About the temperatures, I think that her cooling are too weak... THANKS!

Im thinking of upgrading my system starting by the graphics card. My main workload is 3D with Maya, Zbrush, Blender and Marmoset. So I cant choose to have a AMD graphics card since most of these software have been optimized to run on CUDA cores. I game sometimes when I have time but I have 1080p monitors. Yes I have 3 of them My current system is an AMD Ryzen 7 2700x with an Asus GTX 1060 6GB and a 650W PSU in a MSI B350 Gaming Plus motherboard Im thinking of getting a RTX 4070 since its the most powerful card that my current PSU can handle with the most VRam that is good for rendering. I have seen benchmarks that put it on par with a RTX3080. I would like to upgrade and not have to worry about for the next 5 years. And prices for the 3000 series are still high. So my though is to get a 4000 series that has lower power consumption Current prices in Europe are around 700 Euros. But I have seen one go as low 620 EUR. Do you think this is a good decision? Should I wait for NVIDIA to release the 4060 so the prices drop? Will the price drop? What are you recommendations?

I'm very new to Overclocking lets just put that put there lol. However, I have heard the term "Silicon Lottery" used a thousand times. I brought out my old GTX 1060 as I was going to give it to a friend for free who was just getting into PC gaming . When I installed it into his PC he was a bit underwhelmed with his performance in modern titles so I decided to overclock the old thing to see if it could give him some better performance. Over the course of the next couple of hours, I was shocked to see just how far I could push this card! Please let me know is this is a normal experience to have but I will include the overclocking stats below. CORE VOLTAGE: 100% (Included just for completion sake) CORE CLOCK: +240 MHZ MEMORY CLOCK: + 1000 MHZ POWER LIMIT: + 116% TEMP LIMIT: + 92 Degrees Once again the main aspect I am looking at is the core clocks and the memory clocks. Also this thing runs at around 75-80 degrees under sustained load in heaven benchmark for quite some time (mind you I live in Canada and its freezing up here in the winter)

I recently bought an RX6600 to replace my GTX 1060 6GB. I'm not much of a gamer, not anymore, just bought it to play Doom Eternal every now and then. I had destroyed my 1060 with overclocking to help render times in Blender, and it would get extremely hot and loud playing any videogame that isn't solitaire. I'd set all of Doom Eternal's graphical settings to low/none and lowered my resolution to 1280x720 for it to give me good fps, be smooth enough. It looked pretty awful, but at least it was playable, not a single crash. On this new GPU, it crashes without exception every time I launch the game. The first time it crashed was when I saw the raytracing pop-up, and before I could check the option to leave it as normal, it crashed. (as for "crashing", it's more the image turning static. The audio still plays, the game ISN'T "not responding" in the task manager, just a single frame of the videogame stuck on the screen, without crashing to desktop. I have to close the game manually.) Now I've done some digging, updated my BIOS, applied fixes listed here (on github), tried undervolting, reinstalling the drivers with DDU. Nothing seems to help. Interestingly enough since applying the MPO FIXES it crashes not as quickly, but it crashes all the same, a little while into the game. I've never been able to play a full 30 minutes, but even if I did, I'm sure it would crash sooner or later past said mark. It might also be of note that I'd overclocked my monitor from 60Hz to 75Hz, then via Nvidia control panel, and now via CRU. all these years with the 1060 I hadn't experienced any issues like this. Whether this is AMD's fault, this particular GPU's, or my PC in general, I don't know. Even if something is wrong on my part, this made me appreciate my 1060 even more. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: PC specs: Motherboard: Asus x470-pro Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600x Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 MHz Graphics card: MSI Radeon rx6600 mech 2x 8G PSU: Unbranded 750W* (*The issue could be because of the PSU. I had the option to buy an Asus 650W, or this, saving around 100$. Probably should've gone with Asus. That said, after enabling Resizable Bar the crashing seems to have stopped (alongside a couple of other software tweaks, and reinserting the GPU and the 8pin connector, not sure what exactly did the trick.). Regardless, will check with another PSU, and report back, Resizable Bar off.)

I have a Zotac GTX 1060 Amp! Editon. The fan control in Afterburner was working fine with it. Last month the fan started becoming idle and after restarting it worked fine. That became frequent. And now the fan control isn't responding. Not to the User defined Auto an not to the manual adjustments. at first it was at 45%, no matter what % I change manually, the speed stays same, then it got reduced to 25% and now it's 10%. No use in reinstalling Afterburner. Fan is working fine with Zotac's Firestorm, but there is no 0%. 10% is the base speed no matter how cool the GPU is. it's not as convenient as Afterburner. How can make Afterburner work normal?

So, I bought a desktop thought to be broken due to the error message "Please power down and connect the pci-e power cable" not allowing the previous owner to boot into Windows. I thought that the power supply may have been shot or they just didn't connect the correct cable. But now I am stumped, after testing the GPU out on a desktop proven to work. I get the same thing "Please power down and connect the pci-e power cable" Is there perhaps another method of testing which I am missing? Perhaps using a multimeter? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, As you all are aware that currently is the worst time to buy a new gpu. Also I'm waiting for the new budget gpus like RTX 3050 TI or similar but I don't think Nvidia or AMD can keep up with the demand at least for a year. But I have got 2 offers to purchase below GPUs around $100(10000INR) GTX 1060 6GB: https://www.asus.com/in/Graphics-Cards/DUAL-GTX1060-O6G/overview/ RX 570: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/Radeon-RX-570-GAMING-X-4G/Specification Here's my system: Ryzen 3 3100 MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX Corsair CX 550W GTX 750 TI(too old to play new games now) Please solve my below queries: 1) which gpu I should go with GTX 1060 6GB or RX 570 as I watched benchmarks of both of them and its a close call. and how future proof are they? 2) is AMD RX 570 is beneficial as I have AMD cpu? also I have AMD freecync monitor so is that worth the hype and should go with AMD gpu instead? 3) is my psu capable enough for these GPUs? I know both gpu's power requirements are low but I still wanna confirm will this make my PC unstable? Thank you in advance.

Hi guys. I've got an GTX 1060 (3GB) and with the current GPU market situation being the way it is, I'm not willing to upgrade now.. Anyway, I want to upgrade the rest of my system. I could get an ROG STRIX Z490-G Gaming (WiFi) Motherboard and an i5 10600k for 400€. What are your thoughts? Anyone maybe got that exact configuration and can tell me if it's worth it or anyone got suggestions for me in that price range. Intel or AMD. BTW I mainly want to use the system for gaming (warzone mostly) and music production (Ableton + plugins). I would also use it to livestream DJ Sets from home. Gamingwise i would like to achieve smooth 60 or maybe even 120 fps in Warzone on low settings of course or as much as possible the 1060 is capable of. Thanks in advance Viktor Budget (including currency): around 400€ (for MB+CPU and maybe DDR4 RAM) Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Call of Duty: Warzone, Cold War, MW Ableton, Vital, Serum, Traktor Pro 3, OBS Other details: Build right now: AMD FX 6300, GTX 1060 3GB, 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM

Hi, so after blaming everything on software and doing everything in my power to mitigate that, I've finally come to this forum because nothing has worked. I tried DDU in my previous OS, and it didn't solve anything, I tried rolling back drivers and the latest drivers, nothing worked. And finally I decided to completely wipe my drive and got a fresh Windows, but it still hasn't worked. I've tried fiddling around with my power plan settings, and that hasn't worked either and I've set the power management mode to maximum performance and that also did not work. I've tried stress testing it with Furmark and Kombustor, which also yielded no results. I tried to overclock it see if it changes, which also doesn't at all have any effect. It currently is always stuck at 135MHz GPU clock and 405MHz memory clock, or when I stress test it goes to 139MHz GPU clock and 810MHz memory clock, but nothing more. Regarding heating, it idles at 45 degrees Celsius when no fans or anything is on, and when I do turn it on it usually idles at around 37 degrees Celsius, so I think it's not at risk of that. Even stress testing it has never pushed it above 70 degrees Celsius. This is my GPU https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/202237/asus-gtx1060-6144-180129-1 Really hoping to get some help and resolve it because I'm in no position to upgrade or put it into repairs right now. Edit: Some people might suggest bottleneck, but I have an i5-7400 and have gamed on this rig for the past 2-ish years, it's all of a sudden I started running into these problems for the past month or so. Update: I was messing around with the GPU, I took it out and plugged it back in again, and after turning it on I tried stress testing it and everything worked fine again, not sure why. But as soon as I turned off the stress software, it clocked back to 139/810 and won't go to the normal clocks of anymore 1,800MHz/4104MHz which it was hitting literally seconds ago without a hitch. I'm really lost.

Hey there! I've been on a journey to upgrade my PC over the years, and I've done it a couple of times to the point that I got pretty happy on where it is now I currently have an ASUS TUF H310M-PLUS GAMING/BR Motherboard i7-9700KF CPU 2 sticks of 8gb DDR4 RAM and, of course, a GTX 1060 6gb (My Power Supply PSU is 550W for the record, maybe I'll need to update it in order to overclock with a more recent GPU? don't fully know) However, although this setup is fine for 1080p 60fps for a lot of games, I think I'd like to upgrade my GPU so my PC can handle max settings 1080p 60fps on more recent triple A games/heavy duty games in general, like assassin's creed valhala, cyberpunk 2077, FFXV, etc And maybe (hopefully, not a necessity) get up to 1080p 120 fps on some of my favs, like KH3 I currently have been taking a look at the RX 6600 for a possible upgrade option, but I don't know if it is the best one available for what I'm looking for on my budget, which of course is around the pricing of the RX 6600 So i'd like some help in the form of some GPU suggestions! I've never used an AMD GPU before and I have a lot more experience with NVIDIA's GPUs overall, but I am more than willing to switch to an AMD GPU if for the RX 6600 price range nvidia just loses. I just want a good modern GPU for 1080p 60 fps gameplay that hopefully holds up for some years to come. (and preferrably doesnt cost one of my eyes)

I'm planning on selling my desktop that I bought as a prebuild but have made some changes too. Here are the specs: Intel I5 8400 with intel stock cooler MSI GTX 1060 3gb 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (1 stick) Gigabyte H310M S2H motherboard Some offbrand 600 watt PSU Deepcool MACUBE 110 case (with one 120 mm case fan) 120 gb ssd 1 tb ssd 1 tb 7200 rpm HDD Windows 10 The pc is in pretty good state I'd say. I have not gamed a lot on it, only the first two years I had it (I bought it in 2018), and I have never used it for mining. The new case is only half a year old and it hasn't any scratches or anything. How much do you guys think I can sell this for right now?

I have a Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce X2 OC 3GB that I picked up used for a graphics design based purpose build... At first everything seemed fine, but then I discovered after having the card for several weeks that it will only detect the first monitor I plugged into it after putting the build together. An LG ultrawide (Model WK900 I think). It will not detect any other monitor what so ever. All other monitors display a blank, black screen once Windows loads the Nvidia driver. To be clear, here are the things I've already tried. Initially I tried different cables, then I tried even more monitors. It just didn't make sense, so I then plugged in the monitor I initially set this build up with and it works without any issue at all... So I then tried all cables with that monitor to make sure I wasn't crazy and sure enough all the cables worked fine, but if I plugged in any other monitor the screen would go black as soon as Windows loaded. I figured it must be a Windows issue so I attempted a Windows repair, but it wouldn't find anything to repair. I was able to boot into Safe Mode using any monitor, but if I boot it regularly as soon as Windows got to the login screen it would go black... After more testing I determined it was when the Nvidia driver would load when the the screens would go blank. I tried reinstalling the driver several times, I tried both the studio and game ready drivers, both the latest and older versions of each. Same results each time. I even found that if I let Windows boot with the monitor that the graphics card seems to like and then swap the cable to a different monitor the different monitor would show the screen, but when looking at the settings Windows and the Nvidia control panel both were reporting the monitor that does work was still plugged in even though it was not... And of course with the monitor that will work plugged in, no other monitor would be detected when plugged in as a secondary monitor. I did everything I could think of short of a BIOS flash and a Windows reinstall, against my better judgement I did a Windows reinstall, and nope still same issue... So then I put an old HD 5450 in the computer and the GTX 1060 in a different slot. I used GPU-Z, nvflash and techpowerup to find my BIOS and reflashed the card... SAME ISSUES... I tried two other BIOS versions that were older and still the same issues.... Mind you, the HD 5450 while in the machine worked with any monitor I plugged into it. I've never had this problem before. It seems as though for some reason something on the graphics card is just stuck only detecting this one specific monitor and it will not detect any other monitor. As long as the computer is using a generic vga driver any monitor works, but as soon as the nvidia driver loads, only this one specific monitor will work... The card works as expected with the LG monitor plugged in, no performance issues or crashes, I stress tested the system before calling it complete. Go to put it where it was intended to be used and plug in the monitors and peripherals at that desk and that's when I discovered the issues. I'm at a complete lost, never had this issue before.

Hello ! I'm very new to overclocking, but I recently bought a 5800X and a second hand GTX 1060 OC (because shortages) and I wanted to try my hand at overclocking. I ran my GTX 1060 in a non overclocked mode in furmark and observed that it was only using about 75 to 80% of it's TDP. Once I overclocked it (afterburner auto overclock 25 MHz average), I tried again and it was only using 80 to 85% TDP. Better, but not 100% (and I had set the limit to 115%). I'm definitely not CPU bottlenecked or PSU bottlenecked (seasonic 850 W) so I was wondering if this is expected behaviour. Do GPUs even boost over TDP ? I assume they do. Also, thermals are not a consideration. During these benchmarks, the GPU never exceeded 70°C. The cooler on this thing is really over the top for a 1060. And since the card came with a PCIe 8 pin connector instead of the default 6 pin on 1060s, I assumed it would be power hungry, but it really doesn't seem to be. Any advice on this front would be of great help ! Thanks !

Hey guys, recently i thought about buying a new GPU (very likely an RTX 3070 if i can get one). Here's a list of my current setup: CPU : AMD ryzen 5 1600 6x 3,6 Ghz GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6GB Gaming X Ram: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 Mainboard: Asus Prime B350-Plus PSU: 550 Watt Corsair RMx 80+ Gold Does this setup also Work well with an RTX3070 or would it be better to built a completely new rig? Also would 550 Watt be enough to power the System? Thanks for your Help!
