So I was wondering if it might be a good bet to do something like this instead of buying a new GPU, but at the same time what would the cost be and where would you even find someone who could do it for you, i've seen all the videos about the cards and read the articles and was wondering if anybody does this sort of stuff and would it be a viable choice over buying a new GPU, thanks in advance for the replies

Hello everyone, So it's been around 5 years that I am using this power hungry card and living in city like Mumbai (India) with humid temps ranging from 33C - 22C. After all these years the middle fan of the three is deciding to give up and has started to make rattling noise. I followed some video tutorials which included taking the fans apart and greasing/oiling the bearing. It did work and the fan stopped making noise but resumes again after a couple of days and then I have to take the fan apart and oil it again. So I was thinking of strapping 2x120mm fans to the heat sink with zip ties and I know it runs pretty well after that. (Even with good improvements) But I am confused with the whole Static vs Airflow thingy and don't understand if I am choosing the right fans. I have 2x120mm front intake, 1x120mm exhaust top with a stocky ryzen 3600 cooler (which will be replaced in some time with a Deepcool Gammax v2) Cabinet is Thermaltake Versa N27 and I have removed the HDD cages for better lower airflow. There is around 8-10cm of gap between the gpu and psu. The fan I chose: CM Sickeflow 120mm RGB which come in at 9USD approx (total of 18USD) which give 62 CFM ± 10% and run on 650-1800 RPM ± 10% I know people opt for Noctua but the only ones available here are the Noctua NF F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM which i know are good but cost 21USD and thus 2 of these would cost 42 USD which is way more I can think of. Can anyone please tell me if I am making the right choice here? Due to global shortages. The options are really limited and the other ones I could go for are the Arctic P12 for 11USD but no warranty mentioned on amazon. There are no other options that I can probably go for which offer a good amount of airflow with higher than 1500 rpms. Thanks in advance.

So i have a powercolor rx 580 mining edition (i am not a miner) bought it for $70 last year and the temp is not that good so i decided to do the "deshroud" mod but 120mm fan is bigger than the heatsink, 90mm fan is the right size it we have the same graphics card (I'm going to directly attach the fan at the heatsink) is 120mm better than 90mm even with the "space"?

What?: I've attached a Corsair H60 AIO to a 290x reference from MSI. Insane... Yes... Dangerous?... Yes... Cool?... You tell me people. To see more on this, go to my other blog Smokey Attempts: The Red Mod. Whats Next?: Regular update to each blog, and some cool stuff on this blog by tonight hopefully. I should be able to make a start on another build late this evening and I will by uploading entries with images today and tomorrow. Thank You :)

Hey there! I just had a sudden inspiration! But first let me tell you the instancees: I My sister needs a new PC and I thought of a SFF build because she isnt a nerd like me. And after some research I really started liking the Node 202. And now I am not sure if I could put a passiv cooled GPU like the gtx 1050 ti or rx 470 with two case fans in there. To this related another question appeared: Is it possible to fit the heatsink of my now watercooled gtx 980 ti onto the gtx 1050 ti so i dont need to buy a 3rd party one from e.g. arctic or so? I am looking forward to hearing your opinions or experience on this. PS: I found out that the Arctic Accelero Xtreme III fits onto the msi gtx 1050 ti because this card also features 58mm spaced holes:http://www.tomshardware.de/pascal-gtx-1050-ti-passivkuhlung-umbau-messung,testberichte-242263.html

So i was thinking of making a GPU enclosure for my laptop and am gonna add fans to the enclosure but the problem is I don't want case fans to be running at full speed. Linking them to the GPU fan would be the solution. I came up with a adapter than I'm gonna make on my own, figured out the pin out but not sure if it's safe or not.

I recently installed a raijintek Morpheus II on my reference Vega 64, everything seemed to work at first, but whenever I try to run furmark (which previously worked just fine, and no it was not run frequently over a long term basis) stops displaying everything. And doesn’t output an image after multiple reboots. (Sometimes it stops working when booting into windows, most of the time it doesn’t even make it to the bios) Please help Edit1: further details: the gpu is slightly bent from the weight of the cooler, the gpu and a raid 0 array are powered from a secondary psu, the gpu would (now) instantly stop working when stressed (furmark) and when it worked (with the Morpheus II) it didn’t go beyond 841MHz

Hello beautiful tech community! This is a slight upgrade to my first PC I built. The only real upgrade from my Original system is the new "011 Dynamic XL"! I was using the "Thermaltake View 71 Snow" I also modded the GPU to hang from the top of the case. It dropped about 5 or 6 degrees on my GPU after doing this! It is not completely finished as I want to make the aesthetics better but am too broke and lazy to at the moment. But I am looking for criticisms, so let's hear them! ?? hey guys i have a zotac p106-90 gpu and im working on modding it add connector to it so it will work as a gtx 1060 i have tried to flash a gtx 1060 bios on it with ch341 programmer but it dosent work windows will still detect it as p106, so i believe that there must be some difference in the pcb so if any one of you guys have a zotac gtx 1060 3gb it would be great if you can send me some detailed photos of the back specially near bios chip

So I know there have been people who've painted gpu shrouds and obviously there are some after market shroud kits such as what's included in evga's hybrid cooling kit, but has anyone ever made a custom gpu shroud out of wood? I don't have a card or the tools atm to try anything like this, but in my head a 'founders edition'-esque shroud made of wood and accented with wood burning would look pretty awesome.

Are there any GPU plates for the MSI r9 390, the red color doesn't go well with my build and I was wondering if there are any white plates?

VR-Zone Chinese reported, Japanese system builder サイコム(Sycom)announced yesterday that they will be selling systems built with reference design GTX 980. But these are not normal reference GTX 980, these GTX 980s were modded, so that these cards were water-cooled with a AIO liquid cooler. It seems they have kept the chassis and the blow fan of the reference cooler, but removed the heatsink, and cut a hole on the side of the cooler chassis , so that pipes and waterblock/pump can connect with the radiator. The AIO water cooler they used is Asetek's 550LC, a AIO liquild cooling system with a 120mm radiator, and you can choose ENERMAX UCTB12 or Noctua NF-F12 PWM as fans on the radiator. To be noted that this modded GTX 980 will only come with Sycom's custom built systems, and this mod is available to GTX 770, 780, 780TI, and Titan Black as well. The cheapest system with this modded gpu is the G-Master Hydro-GK3, priced at 163,680 yen, or around $1 502. Of course you could upgraded the system with other pc components, or modded GPUs. G-Master Hydro-Mini2 with modded GTX 770, one of the pre-built systems from Sycom available with modded GPU http://chinese.vr-zone.com/128991/custom-build-water-cooled-geforce-gtx-980-in-japan-09262014/ (in Chinese) http://www.gdm.or.jp/pressrelease/2014/0925/86652 (in Japanese) *update: list of system from Sycom bundle with the modded GPU (all in Japanese)

Some of you may be fimiar with my dual ITX system "Twofold" for those of you who aren't the TLDR version is that it's an ancient Aopen ATX case that I modified to fit two ITX motherboards in. Among the hodgepodge of system components were a pair of PNY GTS 250 1GB XLR8 GPU's one that I bought from @ONOTech here on the forum and another that I bought shortly after from ebay. Currently Twofold is out of action and one of the two GTS 250's is in a PC that I put together for my brother, the other one basically ended up sitting on me desk being unused. Last night (actually very early this morning) I was speaking to a friend on teamspeak and we were speaking about hardware and basically I ended up thinking about how I wanted backplates for the 760's in my main rig and then I thought "how hard could it be to make them?" well after a bit of thinking I decided that the next day I would give it a spin and use my GTS 250 as a test bed for my work. After searching my parts cache for a suitable piece of metal to make the back plate out of and finding nothing I started to think about using other materials, idea's for wood, plastic, and even cardboard back plates came and went and I settled on plastic as it isn't cardboard and I surely had something around the house that I could sacrifice to the project. After searching and searching I found nothing suitable until I hit the kitchen for a drink, while getting a cup I saw one of the many Tupperware containers and that's when it hit me that it would be perfect. I chose the largest one and after measuring to ensure that it was large enough(it was just big enough) I set to work making a template and cutting the lid. After cutting it and then a bit of trimming to shore up the uneven cuts I painted it and used some leftover hardware from building Twofold to attach the back plate to the card. I thought it looked pretty good but I thought it would look even better if I removed the stickers from the metal shroud so I did that as well. Here's what I did What the card looked like before modification Source material Traced template Tool I decided to use to remove the rim of the lid I really love this exacto set, best $20 tool set I've bought Rim removed and template traced onto the lid Backplate cut out SLI finger cut out Test fit (more trimming required after fit) Paint I decided to use, well I say decided but it was this or either an emerald jewel green or a metallic royal purple so....not really much choice there. Before paint After a few coats A few more coats Finished, I thought it turned out really good. Removed the stickers from the GPU shroud "Glamor" shot <lel The back That's nearly it, before any of you mention it I know there's a big old belly button in the center of the back plate and I'm going to try to get a sticker made to cover it. Aside from that it's done and I really like how it turned out. It could be a bit better but considering that the whole thing took about 20 minutes to do not counting the paint drying I thought it was good. That's it and thanks for reading. Sincerely, Lord Pantaloons

Hey guys, so I eventually I'm going to get a pair of 295x2's. Now i have two questions about these cards, one being that I actually really love the aluminium frame housing on this card but I also want a custom water cooling loop. The 1st question i have is do you guys think it would be possible to get my own acrylic and or petg tubing in through the stock 295x2 aluminum housing? And either connect the tubing to the stock asetek water block or if you know of any other low profile water block that would fit well and make my life easier. I realize this would be a tedious job but when you have such expensive cards its nice to show em off a lil Now if what I stated above is even possible than here's the 2nd question. I'm sure you guys have seen on like the gtx 780's and titans how the glowing geforce logo can be sanded down and its actually white instead of green. Well i was wondering if that's possible with the 295x2. See for some odd reason i want to make a yellow build. I really don't know why but i just like yellow PC's there's not too many of em that I see around, so anyway i was thinking maybe i could sand down the radeon logo and plasti dip it yellow.and the vrm fan well I think I could figure out how to mod that pretty fast and turn the led off or even try to make a yellow led fan. I'm getting an NZXT H440 in orange from Newegg and then plasti dipping the orange inserts yellow. This is all going to a build for 4k gaming, possibly rog swift pg278q eyefinity in the future, but also youtube editing recording, and what ever else I find fun. But mostly gaming. The entire build will be uploaded to youtube for you guys ill keep you posted (: Crazy how just not even a months ago I was a console pleb.. ... but now i have build 2 pc's and for my third I'm going all in $$$ so if you guys could provide any help I would greatly appreciate it! Love, Jape.
