I got this error when shrinking the Btrfs partition and creating a new NTFS partition in GParted Live

So I have this tablet (Toshiba wt8-a) which was originally shipped with windows 8.1 and it was super slow with very little free space left. I thought why not try to flash android so it would be faster and more free space. I first used gparted and wiped everything on the disk and made the partition to ext4. I then Installed Android 8.1 which run really quick but had tons of bugs for me to keep using it (screen staying on all the time, screen tearing, when I pressed the power button I couldn't open the screen by pressing it again and had to hard reset it, etc...). So I used gparted again and did the same think. I then installed Android 7.1 but still had some bug, although less than 8.1 but was also a little slower. So I thought to try Windows 10 next so that it maybe was more compatible and didn't run into bugs. I used gparted again and made it into ntfs. I then made a bootable windows 10 usb with rufus, but when I tried to boot, it said "No bootable device - please restart". I tried a lot of things with rufus to make usb bootable: a) GPT FAT32 b)GPT NTFS c)MBR NTFS d)MBR NTFS, then backup files to hdd, format usb to FAT32, copying back the files to usb. But nothing of these worked. Do you guys have any ideas why this is happening? Also do you have any better ideas I could try for operating system? Thanks!!

so when I format my USB drive, it would constantly get lots of I/O errors, even ubuntu's disks can't format it, but gparted can, meanwhile I can pull up es file explorer and read the NTFS partition to get it's data, but can't copy to it, but it works fine under windows, I am currently looking on amazon to find replacement parts for the USB drive, oh and the screws are tiny, here's the USB drive on amazon SmartDisk USBFLB80 FireLite 80 GB 2.5-Inch USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive (amazon.com), it's out of stock, but its a Samsung drive.

Okay, so I personally love linux. But I wanna change to windows mainly due to the fact that I do not need linux anymore. I have a windows 7 disc right now. Now, whenever I try to boot from disc from BIOS, it will not boot from it. My laptop just boots to Linux mint instead. I do wonder though... I had this crazy idea of using the "setup.exe" file in the disc when you open it to start up instead. Now, It says I need 686 MB of space on my linux partition to continue. I am new to gparted and need help. Does anyone know how I can shrink my Linux partition with gparted??? Any help would be appreciated.

Im trying to mount a partition on my HDD so I can use it for a steam library. I've followed some guides, but it appears to be mounting my 1.3TB partition i use to do the same thing on windows, but I seems I did it correctly and it should be using the ~500GB partition? You can see I've clearly added sdb2, but my file system pops up with the files I know are on sdb4. Maybe it has something to do with me mounting to "/hdd"? Im new to Linux, so thorough explanation on exactly how to fix would be awesome, thanks!

I don't know if this is the proper place to post this but, when I use GParted, a lot of partition types are grayed out and Ubuntu doesn't recognize some of them like ExFAT, is there a way to have GParted format any partition to any drive type? This is what I mean:

Ran into an odd issue that I'm not sure I know how to repair. System: ASUS Z97-Deluxe, 32 GB Ram, i7-4790K, Samsung SSD as boot drive running Mint 19.3, 2nd SSD with Windows 1 in DualBoot setup. This setup has run fine for well over a year. Background: While doing a little planning prior to expanding my root partition, I was running from a GParted Live CD to make backup copies (dd to an img file) of my root and home partitions with the plan to steal some space from home to add to root. I DID NOT actually do anything other than getting used to the Live CD AFAIK, but after I removed the CD and restarted my machine to "get back to work", I was unable to boot as my system (ASUS Z97-Deluxe) would simply freeze on the BIOS splash screen. It would NOT let me go into the BIOS to select the Live CD as my boot media. Nothing I tried would get me into the BIOS. So, I decided to grab a new SSD just in case the drive was badly hosed and restore from backups, which brings me to.... Current state: I added the new SSD (unformatted) and moved the problem SSD to an external USB case, put a Mint Live CD in the DVD drive, and everything boots to the Live CD just fine. When I look at the old drive in GParted, everything looks exactly like I expected - all partitions are fine and I can view their contents without any problem. I'm considering running Boot Repair (default) to see if that fixes the issue, but I've never run it before and I had questions. 1. If I run it with the the old drive showing as /dev/sdc, will BootRepair change things around so that everything now expects THAT to be the boot disk, and will things work when I move that drive back to its old spot in the drive bay? 2. If not, what's the best way to (a) decide what exactly is wrong with the drive config, and (b) fix it. I know I have the option to simply partition the new drive as desired ansd reinstall OS that way, then restore things fro my backups, but since the backups are 3-4 hours out of date for email, etc and the old drive has everything up to the minute, I want to take the best way to get back to where things were prior to the problem. Hey guys! We need a help from you. We built a new PC including these components: Ryzen 3700x (with generic cooler), 2x8 GB DDR4, Asus Prime X570-P, Nvidia RTX 2080 Super, Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 650W, SSD + HDD probably 2 months ago. During this time a friend of mine started experiencing weird problems. I will list some of them. Random CPU fan speed increasing, CPU temp during idle jumping 30-50°C, RGB leds of rams and fans flikering (mostly during high load such as rendering a video but not only), unability to update Windows, unability to download anything from Microsoft Store, Random disappearing of antivirus program, ... At first I thought it could be some kind of a malicious program but we tried multiple antivirus/antimalware programs and they found nothing. Then Windows was reinstalled but the problems persisted. Installation of drivers did not help. We tried to locate the source of the problem but were not successful. The last thing I wanted to try was completely reformat disks with GParted and do a fresh installation of Windows but some other problems appeared. When trying to boot GParted from live usb it just fails in a interesting way. I am attaching some images for clarification. First screen with the menu appears correctly but after that it just glitches. We tried multiple USB sticks, USB ports, monitors, cables DP/HDMI, versions of GParted, programs for creating live USB, updating BIOS, versions of GParted, failsafe mode, reseating RAMS but the result is always the same. We are desperate. The only thing that comes to mind is a faulty RAM or motherboard. But we have no way of trying another MB. Thank you for any suggestions!

Hi, I while back my Macbook Pro early 2015, had frozen so i so i pressed the start/stop button to turn it off. When i tried to reboot the system, the famous blinking question mark appeared. Since my Mac was out of warranty, i had to find a solution myself. I bought a samsung Evo 960 250 gb and an adapter (apples M.2 interface is different) and whiteout any problems i installed high sierra, i'm working on the macbook without any problems for 8 months now. A few weeks ago I assembled a new Ryzen system. My motherboard (MSI X370 gaming pro carbon) has two nvme m.2 ports. I ordered a converter, apple interface to m.2. I put the drive with adapter in my computer, it shows up in windows diskmanagement, however it asks me to initialise the disk according to an MBR or GPT(GUID) partition style, both options fail. When i chose gpt style, it gives me a waring that the disk size is smaller than the minimum required space for a gpt drive. In diskpart the "list disk" command indicates a size of 0B instead of the 256 GB and the "detail disk" command indicates a sata disk instead of a NVME device, see picture. I also tried a live version of gparted, the disk does not show up in the window, however when i use in command line the "lshw -class disk -class storage -short" commando, it shows up as a device, also with a detail hardware command, it showed up as a samsung disk, which is of course correct, the drive has a Samsung controller. Is it possible the drive requires some sort of apple handshake before it gives acces to the storage itself? (i tried gparted on the macbook itself it did not show up) Anyone an idea to revive this disk? Kind regards

Hey, I've upgraded my macbook air's SSD to the 850 evo m.2 with this adapter: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Del-Adapter-Card-To-64G-128G-256G-512G-M-2-NGFF-SSD-For-MacBook-Air-2012/32624671239.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.10.IUggBD&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_10,searchweb201602_2_10056_10055_10049_10017_405_404_407_10040,searchweb201603_1&btsid=41feaded-f69b-4e97-ab25-1f89ed0d36fd so i made a bit level copy with dd: sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0 of=/dev/rdisk2 bs=128m but now i have a 250 GB SSD with a 60 GB partition since my original ssd was 60 GB so i turned to gparted, put it on a usb stick, and booted it. but when i went to resize my drive it couldn't expand more than the original capacity? (=not expand at all) ill post a picture in a few mins

So when i resized my HDD partition and turn off the pc when i try to turn it on it freeze on asrock splash screen and i can't acceses bios or do anything when i unplug my hdd the pc boot , I've tried my HDD on another rig and it work perfectly ... I've changed the SATA cable that didn't solve the problem also reseted my CMOS with Jumper so many times and that didn't solve my problem either i also tried to reset the DMI by unplugin the RAM HDD AND GPU and turning the pc on for a while and plugged everything back but still it didn't work ... i have no clue what to do next to fix it .. Note : Other HDD work on My Rig and My HDD work on other Rigs but my rig doesn't boot when my HDD is plugged my MB is asrock z87 killer , HDD is seagate 4tb

I have just purchased a brand new Samsung 850 EVO 250GB drive as my OS drive for my desktop computer, meaning to put my old SSD into my laptop. I have cloned the OS from the old to the new disk without any issues, and seeing as I did not have any Win8 install media handy I thought I would clone the OS from the laptop to the old SSD, using EaseUS. I made sure to delete files so that there would be room on the SSD. After cloning it seems that the SSD not only has the data of the old HDD, but also its "config", in windows the 120GB SSD shows up as the old 500GB HDD with all its partitions. When trying to do anything with the disk, Windows freezes, making me do a hard reset (reset button not working in this case). I have tried booting Gparted, but it would not boot for some reason, anyone know what I can do?

Heya, I want to know if it's safe to delete the "system reserved" partition from my NTFS storage drive that I use in my Debian desktop. The drive was previously used as the storage drive for my windows 7 install which is where it's gotten the "system reserved" partition from but now that I no longer use windows on this computer is cool to just delete that partition? Also, would doing so remove the windows boot entry in the grub menu at start up? Everything in me says it'd be fine but I don't want to fk anything up, so ye.
