So I just bought the laptop in title and noticed it is not using dgpu (RTX2060) in games. I’m getting around 30-60 fps in games with a tender latency being around 70 ms (very high). I tried all the nvidia options that should make the laptop use dgpu but nothing. I tried fumark bench the gpu and I get 30-40 fps. Then I decided to use heaven benchmark using the dx11 option and everything on highest settings. The result was 110-150 fps, and render latency was by some miracle 5-7 ms. No stuttering or anything. In the games completely different results. My guess is that there is something wrong with Optimus since I don’t have mux switch. Did anyone have some problem like this?

Hi guys, So i got a gaming laptop right with a RTX 2070, so yes not a true 2070. The laptop is 4 years old and is starting to show problems and isn't performing to the level i would like (Examples lower in the text). The battery has just died on me and i'm thinking about a repair. But the fact is i don't know if it's worth to do so. Since the laptop's age is quite high to what the websites "max 5 years lifetimes for a gaming laptop " says at least and i use my laptop very intensively for gaming multiple hours a day. So that's why I am expecting maybe some other components to also give up on me soon maybe. So thats why i'm in a pickle, as well as if i should then repair the laptop and hope that it lasts till the RTX 5000's or if i should just cut the rope and buy an actual computer with a 4070TI super that will be released end of the month. But i don't know if it's worth for the near future with the people saying the 4000's are all bad (not 4090) and rumors being 5000's GPUs will have a 30-40% boosted performance compared to them and that they would be released Q4 2024/Q1 2025. The laptop is also not running the games i play so good anymore, for example i play The Finals a lot and i barely get 70 FPS with DLSS and everything on the lowest setting. So that plays a part. So short: Should i repair the laptop and wait for the RTX 5000's or just buy the 4070 Ti super that will be released, the others are a bit above my budget unless people say the 4080 super is REALLY worth the extra cash. A 4090 isn't in my budget.

I just got a kingston NVMe ssd and put it into my laptop. It shows up in the bios just fine. But I can't find it on windows(11) file manager or on device manager, not even on disk manager. The SSD is a kingston snv2s1000g if that helps at all. Here are some pics of the bios and disk manager: Original NVMe SSD that came with the laptop. the kingston one: and the disk manager:

I'm looking for replacement panel for my HP gaming laptop, and found these 2 L71941-001 with 144Hz 40 pin L71938-001 with 60Hz 30 pin Both were referenced with the service manual on page 53, but it wasn't super explicit on that regard.

"System" task is constantly waking up my dgpu. Every 3s it changes from "gpu 0 3d" to "gpu 1 copy" in task manager which ends us in disgusting battery performance. Hw monitor shows that gpu jumps from 1w to 11-16 wats when system does it. I have done reinstalls, power plans, battery checks. I don't believe that laptop with the most efficent power plan with 42kwh battery can discharge in 1,5 hours if im lucky and having max 1 site open when the producer says that it can do 5h of light tasks. Also i can't test what would happen if i killed system because win won't let me do it. ps the intel igpu is not overworked, 20-30% max load Gpu model: 1660ti maxq system: win 10 laptop model; hp pavilion gaming 15 cpu 10300h

I was looking at the two laptops below https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/laptops/intel/spd/g-series-15-5530-laptop/caeghbts5530ggjn#tech-specs-anchor or https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/laptops/intel/spd/g-series-15-5530-laptop/caeghbto5530glmd#tech-specs-anchor The major difference between them is the GPU, Display and Price. I am so confused about what to go for here. I wanted a new laptop on which I would be running VMs, Multiple Google Tabs and Applications, and maybe playing the casual game. 1. I was wondering what would be better for my use case a 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 display 2. Would 250nits vs 400 make a difference 3. Do you know if this is anti-glare or matt screen

I got a gaming laptop like a year ago its an ROG Zephurys M16 GU603HM, the issue is that a few weeks ago it started to show some lines in the lower part of the screen I thought it was a glitch or something after a while I realized it was a burned image from whatever is displayed for a long time on the screen, I wanted to know if there is a way to fix this issue, if I should try to replace the entire screen or if its just going to die eventually would appreciate any help. I send a picture i took with my camera of my screen you can clearly see the afected area, other than it usually works fine, It took me so long to notice as I use 2 monitors and the main one (which is the one with the issue I usually have black backgrounds so I couldnt noticed the burns at all)

My friend gave me an HP Pavillion 15-ec1008ca that she assumed had a fried mobo (belonged to her brother). I'd say she's somewhat right. I got it to boot by removing the battery, but the display is dead. Any way I can make the ribbon cable connect to a monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort? Also, I was just looking into SPI displays for Raspberry Pi. Would that work on laptops?

Hello everyone looking for some help finding a laptop. 1. I've been trying to find a website where I can get benchmarks on diffrent games with a particular laptop but that does not seem to exist in the same way with components for a desktop. If anyone knows of one let me know I could use it to make a decision. 2. I want a computer to game and stream when I travel. I vacation for months out of the year and want something I can play Cod warzone and stream it. Looking to spend $2,500-$3000 but I want to make sure it can run it at least 120 fps. Ps. I would prefer something with a screen over 17in. Thank you in advance. .

Hey everyone is me again, I’ve been trying to fix my younger brothers gaming laptop (Dell G7 7790), I’m normally really good with tech and can figure things out. I’ve been having a problem trying to solve this and don’t know what to do anymore. The whole story in a nutshell the laptop has been treating him fine for the past few years but as he normally asks me to check if his graphics card or windows needs an update, the Norton antivirus said it had updates to do (notification popped up). All of a sudden it was updating non Norton things (like windows stuff and apps on the computer) I can’t remember them exactly it’s been a while since this happened, but I remember a bios screen being involved and the laptop restarting a few times after) So this caused a problem in the laptop later running ridiculously slow, can’t run anything. Sometimes windows settings won’t even load. He had an external drive as a mass storage for games and that drive got corrupted after whatever Norton did. I ran i diagnostic test and command I found a while back to check the integrity of the files and games on that external drive, long story short, some things were ok, others were broken, but the drive isn’t accessible in windows. These past 4-5 months we’ve been busy with school and summer so I never really got around to being able to fix it. We’ve gotten a new nvme (fix/upgrade) in the hopes of cloning/recovering the old files/data from his external drive. The problem is after I installed the new internal nvme the laptop was still having its sluggish problems. I couldn’t even open settings or anything without either “no internet connection” (while being connected to the internet) or just a blank app pop up. I did some research on the laptop and it turns on some bios version was causing problems. Dell has an option to rollback/revert to a previous bios model. I attempted this and I thought I was finally getting somewhere once I saw this (image attached). I thought that everything would be fine when it showed that it was removing whatever was corrupted/messed up from that last update thing Norton did. BUT ITS BEEN STUCK LIKE THIS FOR 2hrs now. I’ve been searching update things like this in this laptop and others and been getting solutions of either “your screwed abs say goodbye to the laptop” or “unplug the laptop, let the battery drain out, and turn it back on (it’ll turn on or you have to be lucky)” I'm not really sure what to do and don’t want to risk bricking his laptop! P.S. I’ve seen some things about bios recovery or using a usb to flash the bios to be able to access the laptop again BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO PROCEED, any help or tips is welcome just please . (it’s late currently where I am so I will let it run over night, hopefully it’ll be resolved but I would really appreciate any help)

I know there are a lot of similar posts but i needed to have a one on one talk with someone myself. Im running an asus tuf laptop with an R7 6800H and an RTX 3050ti. The idle temps seem to be around 60 degrees C and below which is decent for a laptop. However while playing, say OW2 the temperatures climbs up to 90 degrees C on low settings. since the idle temps are decent i dont think its problem of thermal paste or clogged air vents since its a new system. The fans also ramp up to max speed at high temps. So my first question is - How safe is it to operate at this temperature for the overall health of the cpu since i plan to use it for 5 years. Secondly - Say if im playing god of war then the cpu utilisation is decent so it makes sense for high temps but while playing ow2 the cpu utilisation is like 10-20% which wont make sense why the cpu temps go so high. I also saw a setting in the power plan in control panel where i can change the max power state of the cpu. Would it help to run the cpu on a low enough power to prevent from heating. This whole heating issue is with the cpu only - the gpu seems to be fine. Thanks in advanced.

Hello Everyone! I've been rather concerned with my laptops behaviour the last few months it's been confusing me a tad. I'll try to be as detailed as I can. It an HP's pavilion gaming laptop(Ryzen 5, Gtx1650) 1. The laptop has only been slow on Shutdowns, Restarts and startups recently. 2. Every so often it would green screen for a second or two and continue to boot into windows. Error code is something to do with memory. 3. The laptop was sent for an SSD and Ram upgrade. Unfortunately, the dude I sent it to was a bit of a showman and never did the upgrade. Took about three weeks to get the laptop back from this dude, after I had a lawyer get ahold of him as he didn't reply to any of my messages and such. Anyways, to get back to my point. The laptop since then has been rarher, weird.... I found a substantial amount of just weird programs and software. Additionally, lot of drivers and such that has either no signature or has been flagged as possibly malicious. 4. Quite a number of things listed in Device manager doesn't seem to make any real sense. 5. Software or drivers seem to have disappeared since the laptop came back. 6. Two caps on the keyboard is missing since I got it back( This is me just ranting) The most worrying symptoms are thus: 1. It would green screen at random times. 2. No real difference in speed after booting into windows. Only on the restart, shutdown and startups. 3. Runs hotter than usual - thermals reaching up to 95'C at times(Upon Gaming and heavy use) 4. Lastly, The various missing and drivers and the sketchy drivers. My self diagnoses is thus: the kink in the Armour is within some of these sketchy drivers and software. Here's what I've done to try and see if I can Fix it: I downloaded a script called tron which has been known to be HP friendly and specifically get rid of bloatware, Malware, cookie data analysis ect ect. Basically an all in one script to combat the issues. Alas, It would seem that the laptop still has issues. If anything, it did get rid of HP's bloatware but as of the main issues such as the drivers and such, It's still there and I'm so uncomfortable with it. I've checked the startup apps via task manager and most of the startup apps are still disabled( Something I did before sending it to this dude) I've tried to make semse of the event viewer and registry editor but my comprehension just isn't enough for me to understand or see if anything is wrong within those two. I ran Malwarebytes(Via the Tron script) it definitely found some bugs and maliciously installed stuff and it's been quarantined but it's not changed the behavior, unfortunately. Conclusion to this is that I fear this dude tampered with my laptop and probably had no intention of giving it back. So when he was forced to give it back I assume he probably was in a "I better try and get it back to the way it was in" state. With all this said, I'll be forever grateful to anyone who is willing to pass on some suggestions and ideas as to try and get the laptop back into shape. I'm willing to try anything at this point. I spent my entire savings on this laptop when I bought it. and would hate to see it fall victim to a untimely demise. It's just over two years old and it's truly a lovely machine. I've listed the specs on my profile and such. Ps: Did a windows reset and reinstall to no prevail.

I have narrowed down the laptops I want to a Lenovo Legion Slim 5i Gen8 https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-slim-series-laptops/legion-slim-5i-gen-8-(16-inch-intel)/82ya000pus?orgRef=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.startpage.com%2F and a MSI Vector GP66 12UHSO https://www.costco.com/msi-vector-gp66-15.6"-laptop---12th-gen-intel-core-i7-12650h---geforce-rtx-3080ti---windows-11.product.4000146916.html both links are to the exact models in question. Though there is a price difference, they come out to about the same price when you match the price of a lenovo warranty to the free one you get at costco. I can see the Lenovo has a much better processor, battery life (though I will use it exclusively plugged in), a screen I don't like, great i/o, and a middling gpu. The msi has an amazing graphics card, the perfect screen for me, but online reviews mention it runs hot (and some mention it's made out of charcoal). I really have no interest in running anything above 1080p at 30-60fps, I don't plan on maxing anything, and I want hardware powerful/reliable enough to last me many years of 1080p/30-60fps gaming on modern games. The lenovo has a 1600p display which is annoying because it comes with such a weak card, meaning just fullscreening games will take a performance and thermal hit I don't want. I worry about the longevity of the hardware performance wise in this regard. I don't want to have to start rolling back my settings in just 2 years or so. The msi has a 1080p which is great because the card is not only stupidly powerful but maxed out wattage, however the cpu is weaker and apparently these 12th gen chips run stupidly hot. Therefore I worry about the longevity of the device in regards to it not cooking itself to death over time. So what do you think would be more long-term reliable and suitable to my purposes?

Dell Precision M4700 laptop sometimes starts on dedicated GPU or sometimes on intel HD its totally random. The main problem is that laptop randomly shifts between graphics and to switch it back to dedicated graphics I have to restart it or take the battery in and out or remove the battery and then start it on the charger still these steps always don't work. It has sometimes given me BSOD, and error says, "Thread stuck in device error", updated GPU driver to the latest still the issue persists. Device Specs: intel i7 3520M, AMD FirePro M4000 mobility pro graphics card.

I currently have an HP omen 15 with ryzen 7 5800h & rtx 3060, it performs great, until 2 weeks ago when the CPU started to instantly spike to 100°C when I try to game on it, the gpu is fine, the cpu is the problem even sitting at idle it hovers around 45~70 degrees, which I find worrying, I replaced the thermal paste on both the GPU and CPU, and it seems only the GPU as gained something from it, the CPU hasn't from some reason. the Laptop still performs great, it even games great, but the instant spiking to around 100°C when trying to game or deploying virtual machines is not normal as far as I know. I am looking to buy a New gaming laptop unless I can find a fix to this overheating issue, which OEM has the best cooling system? budget is around 1500 usd

So, i bought my gaming laptop in 2021, its acer nitro 5, spec are i5 11400h with rtx 3050, with 8gb ram , and yesterday i upgraded the ram from 8gb to 16gb dual channel. my default stick was of samsung 8gb 3200mhz and i bought 8gb 3200mhz of different company, after upgrading yesterday the speed in task manager doesn't show 3200mhz anymore, it shows 2933mhz. When i put the samsung only is shows 3200, and when i put the new one it also shows 3200. But when i use it in dual channel it shows 2933mhz. Now, first thing that came to my mind is to change the speed from bios, but yesterday after searching i realised i can't since my motherboard doesn't support it. I found a lot of threads in the reddit, and acer forms but no answer. Can anyone help. Btw i know this ram should show 3200mhz since one of my friend has the same ram. He too bought acer nitro but 2022 version(mine 2021). and he upgraded to 16gb. His one shows 3200 but mine shows 2933mhz

I'm looking for a gaming laptop for a friend and i found 2 good options(links for them below, ASUS with Ryzen and MSI with intel), here are some points of comparison that i know i should look into, but not sure how to, or i don't understand the practical differences between the 2 first, general information: 1- one of the main games he wants to play is Forza Horizon 5, and maybe cod warzone. 2- MSI option is about 86 dollars cheaper. 3- i would say he is a "normie" , as in he would not complain/tell the difference between 90/160/240 FPS. as long as it is consistent and not dropping frames i think he would be fine 4- if option X is better in aspects that could be upgraded then it's a non issue here are some comparison points that i would like answered 1- one of them has a 3070 and an intel i7-12700H. the other is a 3070ti with a Ryzen 7-6800HS. are Ryzen stuff as good/pretty close to intel stuff or not? and even if not close to intel, is it worth getting a 3070ti with Ryzen instead of 3070 with intel? 2- i know i should look into the GPU voltage but idk what is good or bad, or how to compare the current 2 options 3- the Ryzen option has 1TB PCIe SSD while intel has a 512GB NVMe SSD. i know that NVMe is faster, but how faster is it in actual games? also idk how to check if i can put an NVMe in the Ryzen option 4- performance aside, is there a difference in actual usage between intel and Ryzen CPUs, cuz i know i will be tech support in case anything happens and iv never used Ryzen is there anything i missed that should be taken in account? finally , are these 2 options good in the first place? if they are, which would you take? here are the laptops (nvm availability) ASUS, with ryzen and 3070ti https://www.amazon.sa/-/en/ASUS-FA707RW-7-6800HS-GeForce-Windows/dp/B0BL9FG4RY/ref=d_pd_sbs_sccl_3_5/262-3948991-6241338?pd_rd_w=bDFIX&content-id=amzn1.sym.caa5c1b6-94b2-4099-9566-45946f1f30c3&pf_rd_p=caa5c1b6-94b2-4099-9566-45946f1f30c3&pf_rd_r=3VWK4MHJJS93199S5HHN&pd_rd_wg=UD89u&pd_rd_r=957b01c0-1a78-4c34-b284-7fd7b3d75393&pd_rd_i=B0BL9FG4RY&th=1 edit: the amazon listing for the laptop has changed into a different laptop one, so if you see a 3060 in it then that is not what i was originally looking at. this is what i was looking at: https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-gaming/tuf-gaming/asus-tuf-gaming-a17-2022/techspec/ MSI, with intel and 3070 https://www.amazon.sa/-/en/MSI-Pulse-GL66-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B09RB9B7SD/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 .

Hello, I've got a decent gaming laptop which I just recently repasted, before repasting, this issue that I am facing would not happen but now, after I've repasted it, when I open my game (PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS) which is one of only two games that I play on my laptop, in the game interface everything works fine but, if I start a match or an arcade match or start a training session, after about 15 seconds I see on my MSI afterburner that my CPU and GPU are both 100%, to cross check I somehow open up task manager and Hardware Info and the both of them say the same thing, CPU & GPU @ 100% usage. What actually happens in the game is that, the game freezes very, very hard and does not take any input from the mouse or the keyboard for about 15-20 seconds after pressing a button physically on the mouse or keyboard and then when it does take the input, it executes it with extreme lag (fps ~8-9). After opening task manager I see that the game is taking about 56-65% of CPU usage which I think is normal but there are somethings like 'Dell Instrumentation', 'Dell Diagnostics' which take 11-15% of the CPU at that particular moment. I immediately perform 'End Task' on them but the game is not affected by it whatsoever, then I have to end task on the game it self as well. Before repasting this would never ever happen I would always get smooth 120+ FPS on PUBG. I don't know if this has anything to do with this but I also got a new mouse (razer deadthadder v2). I've no idea if this has got anything to do with the problem but just to make sure that there aren't any other variables at play here which could cause the problem. (My router is also down at the moment and I am using my iphone's USB tethering to use the internet and it's giving me decent speed to load the game because of 5G). I've no screenshots or photos of this because I panicked and shut everything down and don't want to do it again because I don't want to damage any components. My laptop is a Dell G5 SE 5505: R5 4600H, RX5600M, 16GB DDR4. Please Help me fix this problem, I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you.

Just a day ago, I repasted my gaming laptop (dell G5 5505). It has a Ryzen 5 4600H processor and Radeon RX5600M GPU. The temps shown in the task manager seem normal but the ones in CoreTemp and Hwinfo are very much abnormal, and these temps are at idle. I repasted this because the old one was about a year old and needed to be replaced because when I took the heatsink off of the laptop the old paste was almost like clay. Today when I opened it up to see how the mounting pressure was and how the paste spread, it was spread around the die like normal so I closed it up to see how the temps look now and this what I saw. I shut it down and after about an hour when I booted it up again the temp was 72 degrees C. Before the repaste, temps at idle were about the same but while gaming they went to 101 degrees C (and after repasting they went 101 degrees too) . My particular CPU has a threshold of 105 Degrees C (at least that's what I read on the AMD website) But are these temps acceptable? not just the ones in the pictures but also the one's I mentioned I get while gaming (I play only PUBG:BATTLEGROUNDS and a bit of NFS HEAT) what more can I do to reduce these temps? I've heard about laptop coolers but wouldn't know anything about them, if you know that they are actually worth buying please let me know. THANKS!

Hi. I got an Omen 16 laptop almost 3 months ago and I recently noticed that it occasionally makes a short high pitched noise right before shutting down normally. This started happening shortly after I turned off fast startup in windows. I was wondering if this is normal or something I should be worried of since I've never heard it before that? Everything else seems fine otherwise Thanks

A picture depicting my desk featuring the Alienware m14x gaming laptop. The image is a little over 6 months old, but still accurate.
