I'm looking to buy all new Ethernet cables and properly do the networking for my house now that I've got Fiber internet and a new Wi-FI 7 router with a Wi-Fi 6E mesh system coming in. I just bought a Cat7 Ethernet cable and then was reading that it's not an official standard or ethernet cable but still need more cables and was wondering if I should get more Cat7 or use a Cat6A or Cat8 cable since those are official ethernet cables (according to what I've read). I don't want to go below Cat6A because of future proofing and I transfer files between devices over my local network plus my Fiber ISP currently supports speeds up to 5Gig which I only have 1Gig right now I'm looking to upgrade to 2Gig. Well hello there, I'm currently searching and conceptualising a new computer build and I'd like to hear any recommendations you guys have. For some context, I work in the cybersecurity industry so I'm trying to figure out a multipurpose workstation. My main hardware needs for my workflows are high CPU core counts, best connectivity and as much/fastest ram as possible. I do a huge load of code compiling and machine learning, also constantly have whole virtualized networks. And, I'm also a bit of an audiophile so as a hobby I tend to do a whole lot of playing with audio tech. But here's the thing, I'm the kinda guy thats had the same computer since 2011 and keep upgrading it constantly throughout the years (Dual Xeon Mac Pro) so I want to build something that'll last me potentially another ten years. I'm guessing for high core counts and ECC im stuck with Xeon, and I also really want to be able to expand the ram to the TB's at some point. My main focus would be future proofing in every aspect, so id love to hear any recommendations you guys might know about. My wishes would be: -Hardware: TB ram expandability Minimum 4 Pcle x16 (gen 5 available anywhere yet?) And as many more as possible As many nvme slots as possible (raid capable) ECC memory -I/O: Minimum 6 Sata connectors for HDD 10gb Ethernet USB 3.2+/thunderbolt Optical interface (to not need to occupy Pcle) Also, anyone know of any features geared towards direct storage by any chance? Form factor isn't really an issue for me but I'd like to evade going the rack route if possible. Any ideas guys?

How Long will an RTX 3070 last with just 8gb of VRAM? I've seen games like Watch dogs Legion using over 8gb of vram @1440p with raytracing, my question is: If games at launch are already exceeding the cards vram capacity, at 1440p (it is in most respects a 1440p card), is it even worth getting a 3070 for the long haul, say 2 or 3 years down the line? In no, what would be a better option? Get an RX 6800, wait for the 3070 ti? Thanks for reading, Niko.

The only problem is I think I will be under utilizing the cards. My current build is: CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition MOBO: ASUS 970 PRO GAMING MEMORY: 32GB HyperX DDR3 1666mhz GPU: ASUS GTX 1060 6GB OC Edition PSU: Rosewill 850w Gold Fully Modular any other pieces I can definitely add just ask which pieces. The reason for the RTX 3080s is that my GPU in my machine is taking a dump. I am trying to figure out what to do before going full build around the cards. Please shed any advice or give links to where I could possibly get better hardware at a lower cost. The cards I got for Retail, but the cost hurt pretty bad after tax. Please and thank you!!

I was wondering down the line, what would be the best card for price and performance for ULTRA 1440p gaming at 70HZ? (I'm thinking of upgrading in like 2 years tops so I don't mind waiting for prices to go down for the currently new RTX 3000 series for Nvidia and RX 6000 series for AMD) The Graphics card I currently use is a GTX 1060 3GB, with a 1440p Monitor capped at 70HZ. Which works fine for me, since the games I play with friends at the moment are not demanding, so I don't need to upgrade as of right now. Games I play rn:League of Legends, Fall guys and Minecraft (with Shaders). Although, I've got lot's of games in my Catalogue that are way more demanding, so and upgrade would benefit for better performance at ULTRA 1440p, i.e. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Monster Hunter: World, GTA V, Payday 2, Subnautica and Abzu. What cards would you guys recommend? Would the RTX 3070 be overkill, or does AMD have better price to performace for their cards? Are they future proof?

Hey guys, I'm a long time viewer of LTT but this is my first time on the forum. I need your help with a value build. I have chosen the following components: Motherboard - Asus ROG STRIX B550-F CPU - Ryzen 5 3600XT RAM - Corsair Vengeance 3000 Power Supply - Corsair RM750 I want to go for a 3000 series GPU but I don't have the money now. So, my question is, if I go for the 3000 series GPU will there be any bottle necks? The purpose of this built is primarily gaming and some medium amount of productivity work like photoshop, video editing and some CAD work. So, what do u guys think, should I replace any of the components? If not which 3000 series card goes best with this setup? Is there a better CPU that will improve my productivity with out damaging my gaming experience? Also, What about future upgradability? I'm starting this of as a value build but down the line I want to turn it into the best PC for gaming and productivity. I know it's a tough ask

Other details: I am willing to get a PC that I can upgrade slowly, for example getting 1 X 16gb ram so I can buy another one in the future. I would like an M.2 nvme SSD, and a motherboard with pcie gen 4. I have a case, but with bad overall airflow. I currently have a 1080p monitor and need to upgrade to a 1440p one? I saw a MSI one at 144hz which would be good for the 6800xt?

With gpu prices finally dropping I am looking to upgrade my rx 580 to a new gpu in the lower tier range. I want this new gpu to last for a few years but I'm not sure which between the 3060 or 6600xt would last longer. I know Amds are more powerful I'm concerned about the 8 gb of vram being an issue whereas the 3060's 12 gb might last longer. I am only gaming at 1080p but in my research I've seen 8 gb cards fill up at 1080p in a few benchmarks, just looking for some other opinions.

I started off with a $2500 budget. Then the GPU shortage delayed me. I saved up cash and just kept getting more premium parts. Then EVGA had a 3090 B-stock for sale ($1199). Now I'm worried if everything will run accordingly. 1) Is 32 GB of RAM enough get the full use of 24 GB of VRAM on GPU? I saw a post recommending system RAM to be 2x the VRAM, to prevent any processing errors. 2) I'm expecting this configuration to run hotter than the depths of hell. Should I purchase a EVGA hybrid kit to lower the GPU temps? If so, any links or videos on how? Anyone with advice on if I should add paste/gel/putty/pads during the conversion? Any other conversion kits that would be better? Note: Not looking to do custom water cool set up. I am currently moving every 6 months for work and do not have the tools/space to set one up. Hence why I'm looking at the hybrid kit. 3) Is 850 W enough power to run my setup? I've seen couple times in LTT videos, that Linus thinks 800 W is barely enough for a 3080. 4) Any thoughts on my memory setup are welcome. Gonna use the M.2 to boot up the system. Ive built quite a few systems over the years but basically I am getting ready to upgrade from my current system (R7 5800x, Asus B450 mobo, 32gb DDR4 3600mghz, 2080 super, 750w PSU) to the new Lian li O11 dynamic evo case with the intent on getting the system ready for Zen 4 and the AM5 socket so new mobo, new GPU, new CPU, DDR5 ram. Here's where I need help. Intel recently released the Atx version 3.0 for PSUs and the Lovelace GPU architecture is potentially pulling upwards of 600-800 watts, which is fine I will just get a 1200 watt unit and be done with it. My issue is I want to get a new PSU now and I'm concerned that if I do so, a current PSU won't have the new 12+4 pin array on its connector thus rendering it useless on Nvidias 4000 series GPUs. Can anyone tell me if I should absolutely wait to buy a new power supply or does anyone know if somehow there will be adapters for the current PCIe 8 pin connectors kinda like the adapters included on Nvidias 3000 series founder cards? Hi everyone. I would like to ask for your opinion, regarding a monitor, which I would like to buy. My main plan is to have it future proof for 4-6 years. My main purpose is to use it mainly for browsing, multimedia, and casual gaming (GTA V, StarCraft 2, Doom, Witcher 3, Fifa 20, Mass Effect 1-2-3, Star Wars The fallen order, etc). I like to play games with high to ultra settings, the GPU which I am intended to use is RTX 2070 series or Radeon 5700 XT series. My idea is that if the 4K is going to be the winner from your side, then the gaming is going to be used on FullHD, even so I have 4K monitor. Thank you for your kind answers.

Hi All, So I am wanting to build my first PC. To be clear I have had loads of PC's in the past , all pre-built and essentially ready to go. I am an XBox gamer and not really into the whole PC gaming thing. What I need is a PC that is future proof, and can have components either swapped out due to a fault or to upgrade in the futrue. I need a system that I can do programming with as well as general web surfing. I do a lot of Auto Cad 3D design and photo editing. At the minuet I am running a Raspberry Pi 4B, which is a great little unit, but as it is light weight I need something with a full set up so I do not get restricted on full programs. Hey! Was looking to get your thoughts on how future proof the RTX 2070 SUPER will be for ray traced games specific to 1080p 60fps, as of right now, wondering about cyberpunk 2077. Control is one the most beautiful games I've played, and can run flawlessly on 1080p at 60fps with DLSS (only care about 60fps because I have a 60hz monitor.) What're your thoughts for cyberpunk 2077? And what about future rtx based games? Will the RTX 2070 super constantly deliver 60 fps at 1080p with max settings and rtx on? Would love to discuss.

This meaning both cpu & GPU horsepower , & not nessesarily laptops but tablets or mobile devices also , as in nvidia grid solution. the Price doesn't concern you on this.
