Hi All! Firstly thanks for popping in and this is in Australian English . My situation is that I would like part/setup advice/suggestions in relation to a new network setup. I am currently in the process of building a home in Australia (yet for concrete to be poured). This house is going to have what we call in Australia FTTP which just means a Fibre connection into the house (as linked). This is the first time I have had access to start from scratch networking wise. I would really appreciate some advise in relation to what this community would suggest solution wise. I am not on a specific 'budget' per say but I have not won the lottery either nor am I a networking genius. My mission has many separate operating capability outcomes that I am looking to solve with your suggestions or what I have just overlooked completely. 1) A central 12-18RU Server Rack & 10gb switch that is capable of supplying a solution. 2) To have Cat6A/E or fibre connection to every room. 3) A dedicated secure storage server (I currently have a spinning drive setup but would be looking to keep/move offsite and upgrade to Solid State Storage) 4) A dedicated media server running plex. 5) A dedicated local security camera setup including POE access for 4-8 Cameras (with no monthly subscription and I "own/control" the data) 6) All TVs/monitors have access to view the "security camera channel" 7) To have a media connection directly to every room(HDMI/DP) 8) WIFI solution to cover entire house & small backyard. 9) Have two rack mounted computers that will be accessible around the house. 10) Have a PSU that will trigger a safer shut down sequence. Attached and below is the current electrical plan that iv'e worked on

1. Budget (including currency): 35.000 to 45.000,- CZK → 1.600$ USD to 2.000$ USD (will be using $USD equivalent prices to my currency at 1$ = 22.5 CZK) Country: Czech Republic Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: office - architecture, 3D CAD (ArchiCAD), Lumion (GPU Rendering), Photoshop for renders post processing, InDesign, Two 4K Monitors, Adobe premiere – editing rendered videos 2. Aim Current build: PCpartpicker link (can run RDR2 at 30-40 FPS on 2K, not on max settings, by which I was surprised) ,it was a custom build in the year 2013, but the originally installed GTX660 TI 2GB was switched for current GTX 1070 in 2017, also the SSD was added with new OS installed - goodbye Windows Vista. With current setup, with more opened projects simultaneously AND like two chrome tabs, I'm hitting near 15GB RAM used out of 16GB. So I would be grateful for suggestions related to overkills and possible cheaper alternatives, on my planned build, I will also offer some cheaper versions of some components of the build so you can judge my "cut price" decisions, since I'm not planning to game on this new computer build, and I will be moving entire old build from office to home with some upgrades of it coming later. I don’t care about RGB, I would choose parts without it if I can. I will try to describe also my thought process of choosing some of the components, it might help you guys to lead me from some wrong decisions I may have made. New build - thought process: CPU: The current and ancient i7-3770, quad core, 8 threads, is actually working pretty okay, or I just got used to it (sometimes it takes few seconds to load the list of folders when I access different HDD...). The new CPU should be 12th gen, so only question is, if i7-12700 is worth it? The performance increase is extreme between the i7-3770 and even the i5-12400, and it is still going to be substantial upgrade, so it is listed in the second version of the build - your opinions are welcomed. I'm not planning to deal with overclocking, and OC is not worth it in my case of PC usage I assume. So I'm choosing the "K"less version, as it's cheaper considerably. (90$ to 100$US less than unlocked versions) The integrated GPU is probably not necessary and I could save another 10$ to 25$, but I think I will just go with integrated GPU, since the price difference is so low, and it is nice to have secondary "backup" GPU I think. (only because of a slight knowledge of Intel and Nvidia naming system and also past experience, I'm going for this instead of AMD, and also because I've "heard" the 12th gen should be slightly better with the performance x price than AMD at this time.) Is the Noctua U12S redux cooler enough? GPU: I was just aiming for the equivalent of my current GTX 1070, with 8GB as minimum, which is pushing me into RTX 3060... so one of my questions is definitely the choice of GPU, are the new GPUs with only 4GB still much better than 1070 with 8GB because of the speed increased? I will list few variants of GPUs that are available to me right now to buy. MB: Since no OC, and my "Aim" of usage. I believe I could save some money on MB, I'm not planning SLI, so i don't really need 6x PCIe 16x slots etc., Theoretically I should by okay even with only two RAM slots, because 2x16 GB should be enough, but room for upgrading could be nice, I don't know, new version of chrome in Windows 11 may be even hungrier (or new versions of software in the future as well). RAM: I chose the RAM speed according to the max supported RAM speed of CPU which is 3200 MHz for all CPUs options: 12400, 12600 and 12700, I assume there is no point of going over the limit, correct? Case: Going for simple, doesn't matter if side panel is transparent or not, I would like easily cleanable dust filters. Minimum of 6 USB slots, at least 2 USB 3.0+ in front, USB C is unnecessary. Storage: Counting with SSD with OS and main software, with possibility of adding another SSD. Same goes with 4TB HDD used for storage, might add another one. New build list (my currency prices equivalent) GPU market getting better might wait for a while - the listed 12GB RTX just became available and the 1660 became cheaper by $50 in last few weeks. PCpartPicker List CPU: Intel Core I7-12700 2.1 GHz 12-Core ($410) CPU cheaper alternative: Intel Core i5-12400 2.5 GHz 6-Core ($240) Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S redux ($62) MB: Gigabyte B660 GAMING X DDR4 ATX LGA1700 ($168) RAM: Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 ($167) Storage: - SSD: 1x Kingston KC3000 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME ($110) - HDD: 1x Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB 3.5" 5400RPM ($104) --- GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB DUAL Video Card ($620) - or - GPU cheaper alternative: MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB GAMING X ($445) --- Case: Cooler Master MasterBox K501L ATX ($60) PSU: SeaSonic FOCUS GX 650 W ($114) OS: Microsoft Windows 11 ($124) Summary of CPU and GPU variations: i7-12700 ($410) + RTX 3060 for $1.939 i5-12400 ($240) + RTX 3060 for $1.769 i5-12400 ($240) + GTX 1660 SUPER for $1.594 3. Monitors Current - Dell S2721QS 3840×2160, 60Hz (up to DP 1.2, so now using HDMI 2.0) Current - DELL U2515H 2560×1440 (probably will upgrade to another 4K later), 60Hz (right now DP 1.2 to mDP) 4. Peripherals I will probably go for the newest Windows 11, because the software I'm using is quickly ditching Windows 7 I currently have. Current peripherals will be used, no new are necessary. (I can recommend what I've been using for a while now: Logitech Craft keyboard, and 3D Connexion SpaceMouse if you are also using 3D software, really convenient tool) 5. Why are you upgrading? Basically just the need of another PC so I will use the chance of building new for work and using the old one at home, therefore no salvaging is happening. While at it, upgrading to Windows 11, increase HDD and SSD capacities, increasing performance in regards of CPU, GPU, RAM. Thanks for feedback.

Budget (including currency): BRL R$10,000.00 Country: Brazil Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft Java Edition, Programming, Terraria, Starbound, (sometimes) 3D Rendering, (sometimes) AI/Machine learning training Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have a 7+ years old notebook with an i7-3612QM and 16GB of RAM, using it is getting harder every day, since I am getting into heavier loads while programming, and as Modded Minecraft gets heavier. I do not plan to get any peripherals nor have any components to use on my new computer build. I have a 1080p 60Hz monitor, I might get a second screen on the future, possibly 1440p, anything over that is overkill for me I plan to get at least 24GB of RAM and 1TB of NVMe I plan to build the system in the next month or two

Budget: 1500 € Country: Germany Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex Legends, Warzone, VR Gaming (Alyx, Bonelab...) What I'm upgrading from: Tower PC: Hyrican® Military Gaming PC CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz GPU: AMD Asus R9 280 Series (3072 MB) RAM: DDR3 16,0 GB (2 x 8 GB) Other details: I already tried to fit the budget, but I don't know if that's the best I can do for that money and I just can't quite hit the budget... I'm ready to go above budget, but 1650 € is max https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/QLTBd9 Updated after comment from podkall : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xJf4v3 I have 2 monitors, with 1080p 60hz each My mouse is wireless (Logitech G305) My keyboard wired (Steel series 6Gv2) I have to power a external AMP and mic (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00FFIGZF6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), so I need more watts than for the build itself. I prefer 3 TBs of storage. If any more information is needed, just ask. Thank you so much for helping

Well, I'd like some sugestions on a mid-range gaming build, preferably with good upgrade possibilities. I can't give a exact price tag, as I live in Brazil and prices don't translate well.

This is going to be quite a read, you've been warned ? Hello everyone ? So, after my current setup (6600k @4.4GHz all core & GTX1080) is starting to show it's age in modern Triple-A games and my birthday is coming up soon I've devided to start a new build completely from scratch. 1. Budget & Location I am located in Austria, where there's sadly absolutely no kangaroos and I plan to spend about 3000-3500€ (roughly equals to 3300-3900 $US and 4400-5100 $CAD) but that's not a hardwall limit. Don't get me wrong, of course I plan to stay within the budget to some degree but I won't go and hang myself with a powercord if I overspend a little bit, talking about the 10%ish range. 2. Aim The main focus is going to be gaming (1440p G-Sync 144Hz monitor) and procrastinating on the internet aka. watching Youtube videos. I've always wanted to get into gamedesign but never found the time to do so - probably I'll find some time in the future and I'd like to be set for that to a certain degree. I play games like Minesweeper, Candy Crush and some browsergames.... ? jk I play mostly Triple-A titles, for instance Forza Horizon 4, Division 2, Anno 1800, Ghost Recon Breakpoint (that's where the idea startet as I was experiencing performance issues and stuttering), Red Dead Redemption 2, probably Grid, probably Need for Speed Heat, when it releases Watchdogs Legion and of course the obvious Cyberpunk 2077. Whenever it releases Dying Light 2. With my current hardware pick I'll also get 3 free games which are: The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, CoD Modern Warfare and 3 months free Xbox Game Pass so I'd also get to play Gears 5 I think. 3. Monitors I am currently running two monitors, both 2560x1440, both IPS, one of them GSync 144Hz (currently not OCd to 165) the other one regular 60Hz being only a side monitor. ((Acer Predator XB271HU and Dell U2715H)) Both connected to DP. At this moment I'm not planning on changing anything about the monitors, however, IF a proper 4k GSync monitor with high refresh rates shows up for an acceptable price I'd be very tempted. I know, there is the Acer Predator XB3 which is basically the successor to my monitor but I strongly dislike the wide bezels - my monitors are both slim bezel at the moment and I don't like the idea of giving that up as they're side by side as close as possible on monitor arms. 4. Peripherals There's no plan the purchase new peripherals. Currently on Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum, a Roccat Nyth for in-game and a Logitech MX Master for superior desktop mousing. 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading mainly because I've been experiencing some quite annoying stutter from time to time in Ghost Recon Breakpoint and I'm concerned that might as well happen with the upcoming games. My CPU being pinned to 100% basically all the time, my setup is now about 4 years old and a round-numbered birthday is coming up... and I've got nothing else "stupidly overpriced" to gift myself that I definitely "need", I'm sure many of you know what I mean. Of course I wouldn't HAVE to, I could as well lower my expectations a bit, I'm indeed aware of that, but I'm not really the person to do so and I also don't mind it being somewhat overkill for what I really would need, so that's that - and that's how they always get me, it happened when buying a car, it happened when buying a motorcycle, it literally always happens - I know, first world problems 10/10 and nobody would believe me if I said I'm the victim in all of this. So here's my current hardware picks, of course those vendors and prices are not applicable to me being in Europe: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor $499.99 @ Best Buy CPU Cooler Noctua NH-D15 CHROMAX.BLACK 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler $99.95 @ Amazon Motherboard Gigabyte X570 AORUS ULTRA ATX AM4 Motherboard $299.89 @ OutletPC Memory G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory $334.99 @ Newegg Storage Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $209.99 @ Amazon Video Card Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB AORUS XTREME WATERFORCE Video Card $1349.99 @ Amazon Case NZXT H510i ATX Mid Tower Case $99.99 @ Amazon Power Supply Corsair RM (2019) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $128.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $3053.78 Mail-in rebates -$30.00 Total $3023.78 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-10-23 16:46 EDT-0400 I'v already got my dirty paws on the D15 chromax - but I did get some weird special edition, I don't know, Noctua seem to have teamed up with some Youtube guy named Linus?! Anyone heard of him? He seems to be wearing socks and sandals a lot while dropping stuff and he keeps telling me about Glasswire ? My thoughts and why I picked these components: this is going to be be quite a read You've finally made it through. If there's a typo please forgive me, english is not my first language - you may keep said typo as a little something for your time ? Please excuse the essay-length but I spent the last days and nights trying to figure this out. Let me know your thoughts on all of that hot mess. I desparately need help picking RAM, PLEASE ? Thank you for taking the time, have a great day. PS: love you Linus & LTT ?

Hi guys, at first pardon me for my english, it´s not my native language, I´m from CzechRepublic .. hi from here . I´m trying to build new PC I need upgrade from my over decade old rig with Phenom II X4 960T, 4Gigs of DDR2 ram at demolishing speed 800MHz , R9 280 3Gig gpu ... There will be no case, I will try to fit it in my old Zalman X11 . And no additional HDD, I had 2 spare WD in my actual PC. First build, let´s call it Poor Lowcost. Its power isn´t too great, but in copatation of my old build its like EDEN . But there are restricted possibilities of future upgrading. PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 7 2700 3.2 GHz 8-Core Processor $169.99 @ Amazon Motherboard ASRock B450 Steel Legend ATX AM4 Motherboard $106.00 @ Amazon Memory Patriot Viper Elite 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory $67.99 @ Newegg Storage Kingston A2000 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $59.99 @ Amazon Video Card Gigabyte Radeon RX 590 8 GB GAMING 8G Video Card $209.99 @ Newegg Power Supply Corsair CXM 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply $79.98 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $693.94 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-11-05 14:52 EST-0500 Bottom line : In CZE the costs are different. There is an idea of non-graphic card now, and save some more money for 5700XT, but I dont know if this CPU will not bottleneck 5700 GPU The second build is more expensive, even there I tried to choose wise, it´s logicaly more powerfull and could stand better in future gaming. But also I will have to save money for few more months PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor $327.99 @ Amazon Motherboard Asus TUF X470-PLUS GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard $130.95 @ Walmart Memory Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory $74.98 @ Amazon Storage Kingston A2000 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $59.99 @ Amazon Video Card Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card $403.98 @ Newegg Power Supply Corsair CXM 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply $79.98 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $1077.87 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-11-05 15:08 EST-0500 Bottom line : It will cost me 1350 USD in CZE realy funny These two option I have now, buy cheap or save for more. There is one more option .. wait for next year and look for lower prices after xmass or new products. What would you do guys.

OK guys so firstly this is a big ask I know but it would be amazing if you could help me out. I'm looking for a completely new PC from absolute scratch a part from a quadro 4000 (I know wierd gpu to have laying about as the only spare part) but aside from that I don't even have a monitor so please add a recommendation. I would like to be able to run games like COD, Skyrim & GTa V 1080p@60 near to max save for the really draining settings I would like to be ABLE to run new AAA games (near to high settings) my PREFERENCES (in no particular order) for this PC are: [before all this, performance for the £ prioritised] 100-200 Mbp/s internet Low power consumption Small form factor (if this hinders performance then no thanks) <£750 (the lower the better) To have this PC for a while say 3 years (if I can no longer play the latest AAA titles when I'm near upgrading in 3 years time that's not an issue) DDR4 (would be nice but unless the cpu is crap this is almost negligible) For this to run cool 5 USBs 2-3 of which would be 3.0 Shhhh! I don't want a jet engine I will MOSTLY be wearing headphones either a table or 2-3 meters between the PC but I am living with people (so not torture dungeon level noise please). I have no interest in: High spec motherboard SSD [yet] Optical drive High end case Astetics of the build. Thanks a nontillion if you put a build together I would be so grateful I could run out onto the street and sing to a lamppost ;D

Hello, I just want to start off by saying I never built a PC before and that I already bought the Corsair 1000D ATX Full tower case. I'm looking to build 2 systems into that tower. I am completely clueless in what motherboard to buy. I'm not sure on whats the most recommended/best parts I should get within my budget limit ($4000-4500 USD) -The first system will be mainly my gaming system and the other system would be for streaming content/editing videos. -Currently I own an Alienware Area 51, I was thinking of just removing whatever the specs in my current PC and replace it with my secondary system for streaming content, video editing, etc. If you guys have any suggestions if I should do that or just upgrade any parts please let me know. The specs are as follow: CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-5930K Processor 6-cores, 16MB Cache, Overclocked up to 3.9 GHz w/ Turbo Boost. Video Card: Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ 970 with 4GB GDDR5 each (SLI). Memory: 16GB Quad Channel DDR4 at 2133MHz. Hard Drive: 256GB SSD 6Gb/s Main + 4TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s Storage. * Here is the link of the parts I was thinking about. The fans are overkill, but honestly this whole build is an inspiration from this video. (I may not order as much fans, and I'm not trying to build a $20,000 PC.) I should also mention for the power supply I am hoping to get something that support both 120V and 240V. I would like to have your guys suggestion on what parts (GPU, processors, RAM, SSD cards, etc.) I should replace or what I should consider for the 2 PC systems I am going for. Thanks! Update: I'm no longer doing the 2 systems in one tower. I'm actually stuck with the case and can't return it. I'm not sure if I should use the case anymore as its super massive and would look pretty empty with one system. So, I'm just going to stick with a one system that I will be using for mainly gaming, streaming, editing, and general use. Here are some thoughts: I do love the fans, but I'm not sure if they're worth getting that many. A lot of people are suggesting to not do a water cooling system for my first build. I would like to have some insight from you guys.(I keep leaning towards getting a different case) This is what I have decided to get so far: Link Uncertainty: *Should I stick with the current SSD I have? or should I just have more storage as SSD and not bother with a HDD? *What type of 1440p monitor do you suggest (perferably with +200Hz) *Should I keep the fans and add water cooling? If not, what do you suggest? *Get a different CPU cooler or keep it? *What type of Optical drive I should get? *Do I get a sound card? If so, what do you suggest? *Get rid of the case or keep it? If I should get rid of it, what cases do you recommend for the build I'm going for. (I love tempered glass cases) Thank you all for all the suggestions and comments. It really educated me and saved me a lot money as well. Please do keep in mind I'm very new to PC building. So, I apologize in advance if my questions are dumb.
