Hello All, I'm looking to upgrade my AMD desktop I built in 2013 without spending much money by keeping and reusing most of my existing parts. I currently have a ASUS F2A85-V PRO FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) motherboard with a AMD A10-6800K Richland 4.1 GHz (4.4GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Processor water cooled with 16GB of DDR3 RAM currently with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card. I have dual graphics turned off in bios, since I didn't notice an improvement with it turned on, so my A10 processor can work independently freeing up the graphics portion. I watched the techs tips video about using APU processors with graphics cards and that you can have some performance improvement vs cost. I bought the processor first then added the graphics card years later. My desktop has been a work horse for me for 10 years without much issue and I'd like to give it some overdue love. It started with a traditional spinning HD, I upgraded to SSD a couple years ago. With the read/write performance boost of M.2 SSD's, I want to see if I can upgrade it again. I know some FM2+ motherboards are backwards compatible with the standard FM2 processor (the minus 2 CPU pins) and that some motherboards support using M.2 SSD using an adapter card. My main question is if there is a FM2+ motherboard that has a M.2 SSD slot rather than trying to use an adapter card and taking up a PCIe lane and if not, what recommended motherboards would be good using an adapter card to use an M.2 SSD. Any information would be awesome into giving my electronic child some love. Thank You, G_MAN_LIVES

So I have an older system with the following specs MSI Motherboard A78M-E45-V2 AMD A10-7850k CPU (stock cooler) 16GB DDR3 1600 Memory Geforce 1050TI Corsair CX430M PS OS- Ubuntu 20.04 (primary OS) I was looking for some thoughts on the following, or wondering if it would even be worth it. Or just wait a year or so to replace. * upgrade cooler * upgrade Geforce card? * overclock CPU Typical Steam gaming under linux/photon (want to try quake champions, but does not appear to work well with current configuration. maybe try Warzone under windows), test3.pdf

1. Can I use my 125w Thermal solution cooler(AM3+/FM2+) from my 880K on AM4 socket CPUs? (I also have one from my FX-8370 tough it sounds like a jet engine) 2. IF YES! Should I use one of them over the new cooler included with Ryzen 3300X or 3600X? (these are just rated for 65w & 95w versus the older ones for 125w)

So I've been trying nearly everything to get this chip further, but no matter what I do I can't get past 114 bclk which gets me to 3990 Mhz. Which isn't even that huge of a performance bump because at stock the cpu will boost to 3800 Mhz on all cores as long as your cooling is decent although it doesn't like to boost OC'd. So other than just under 200 Mhz on core my only other real benefit is I can run my 2666 DDR3 closer to it's rated speed and the NB might be running faster but I can't tell for sure since I can't find anything in CPU-Z that correlates with the frequency shown in the bios. Also the only program that can get temps from my motherboard is AI Suite and it only gets the "CPU temp" reading and the motherboard temp reading and I'm not sure I can trust those because it shows my cpu not even getting to 50c under load when it's drawing above 1.53v. Anyways my specs are: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nyLCgL and my BIOS settings are: http://imgur.com/a/cKJEN

Hey guys, So for the past month i've been struggling to switch over to FM2+ before my current processor kicks the bucket. as it currently stands my Athlon 5350 is becoming progressively more unstable, causing even software that used to run just fine to encounter stability problems and errors, I've tried clean installs of Windows, and I'm about ready to underclock my already slow 2.05 Ghz Processor. I need this computer working for school, otherwise I wouldn't be in such a hurry. So that brings me to my question, what mITX motherboard would you guys recommend to use with an A8-7600? From my understanding even the A68H chipset can OC so I'm not too worried about what chipset I use, although I do hear the A78H chipset is more stable than A68H, I would however like a motherboard that will be rock solid and last a good couple of years, even if I decide I want to OC my processor later down the line. My budget is $80 maximum, as I'm doing freelance computer repair/builds and need to conserve money getting this working if at all possible, purchase through amazon would be prefered as I have a free Prime membership trial and newegg's RMA labels are an absolute pain to get to print correctly on my dot-matrix printer (It's old enough to be compatible with DOS, while still having USB support to maintain compatibility with modern computers)

Hello there guys!! as the title says I've been thinking about changing my build, but, is it worthy???. My pc's specs are these: -msi 970 gaming m/b -fx 6300 cpu (with a 212 evo heatsink) -8gb g skill cl9 1600mhz ( up to 2133 oc) -r9 380 msi 4gbvram I was planning on getting this cpu AMD Athlon X4 880K with this m/b ASUS A68HM-K and keeping the heatsink ofc, but is it really worth it??? would I increase my fps in game if I use my ram at full potential since this fm2+ m/b allows me to boost my ram speed up to 2133mhz or would I drop fps cause of the cpu change. help please!!

I'm looking at this cooler here because it has some nice lights: https://www.lazada.com.ph/products/fryst-almace-rgb-heatsink-fan-cpu-cooler-amd-and-intel-motherboard-supported-socket-lga-775115x1366-am4am3am2754939940-supported-i578558556-s1579054619.html It doesn't say it's compatible with FM2+ in the description, but it is compatible with AM3, which I've heard has the same mounting brackets as FM2+. So it should be compatible with an FM2+ processor, right? Just trying to make sure. Thanks.

As the article says, why go to 7nm when you can go back with 28nm? For some reason AMD has decided to release one last chip for the long dead FM2+ platform. Everyone, feast your eyes upon the A8-7680! I honestly have no idea why AMD even bothered. But hey, there's always a reason for a company's actions...right? Guys? Anyone? I have a custom pc with an fm2+ socket. My processor is the a10 7700k and I'm looking to upgrade to the best processor for this socket. I'm running a gtx 1070 with it so with games like gta v would be cpu heavy. What is the best upgrade for this cpu socket? Or should I invest on an i7 board which would cost me $500 - $600. Also, around that price range, what's the best way to gain better fps in newer games? Appreciate the feedback, thanks

Can you guys help me find a decent FM2+ CPU for £80-£100 on Amazon Would really appreciate.

Hello everyone. A little bit back, I made a post about the PC I was going to build for my sister on Christmas. She keeps guessing and keeps getting it wrong. She isn't remotely expecting a PC. The first initial post will be short. Only have one photo, but I do have a fully planned build list. Most of the stuff is old hardware that I have lying around, so as far as value goes, it's great! The used parts came mostly from my old PC. Parts I will be reusing: CPU: AMD A8-5500. Maybe I'll replace it with an unlocked A10. I can find one for around 30$ and expect a 20-30% performance gain over the A8. RAM: 2x4gb 1600Mhz from Pariot that I pulled from an old PC I got for 5$. 2x2gb 1333Mhz from ADATA. So, it'll total around 12gb of RAM, which is more than enough. GPU: NVIDIA GTX 750TI EVGA 2gb. About two years old. Applied some thermal pads on the VRAM (Had some lyin around) and put on new thermal paste. Temps should be very good. Full parts list: PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wGkHwV CPU: AMD - A8-5500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor - Semi-decent processor. Can hold its own in less demanding games, like Minecraft, Warthunder, and Battlefield. CPU Cooler: Phanteks - PH-TC12LS_BK 53.3 CFM CPU Cooler - Was going for a low profile 120mm cooler because of the orientation. The CPU runs really hot for whatever reason. This cooler looks pretty great. Thermal Compound: CRYORIG - CP7 4g Thermal Paste - Came with the Cryorig H7 that I have in my current rig. Will be using it for this build. Motherboard: ASRock - A88M-G/3.1 Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard - It had four DIMMs, which was what I was looking for. Cheapest one that had them. Bonus that it's A88x, so If I add a K chip in there, it can overclock. Memory: Mushkin - Essentials 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1333 Memory - Pulled out of a potato build. (It had an AMD E-450... yeah...) Memory: Patriot - Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory - Pulled out of a dead build that I got for 5$. Great value here. Storage: SanDisk - X400 128GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive - It has an M.2 slot so I figured I might as well utilize it. Two less cables for me to deal with. Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - Good ol' Hard Drive. 1tb is way more than enough. Might even be overkill. Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card - Got this for Christmas two years ago for 130$ and it still very much holds its own in modern titles. Will do perfectly for what she is doing. Case: Cooler Master - Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower Case - Atrocious case, but better than an OEM case. Very little room for cable management. No AIO support. Great airflow, though. Got this for 5$ with that dead PC build I mentioned earlier. Power Supply: SeaSonic - 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply - Needed a fully modular unit that was decent without spending too much. Old model, but it will work. The build will only draw around 150-180 watts. Optical Drive: HP - DVD1265I DVD/CD Writer - I have 7 of these lying around. Might as well slap one in. Case Fan: Corsair - Air Series White 2 pack 52.2 CFM 120mm Fan - Looks cool, is cool. The PC will look good, which is a goal. Case Fan: Corsair - Air Series White 2 pack 52.2 CFM 120mm Fan Case Fan: Corsair - CO-9050017-WLED 66.4 CFM 140mm Fan Other: CRJ Blackout All Black 5 Way PWM Fan Hub Splitter - The motherboard only has two fan headers, so I'll just get fan hub for the fans. I have this in my current system and it appears to be working just fine. Other: Aigo, Halo LED 120mm 12cm PC CPU Computer Case Cooling Neon Quite Clear Fan Mod 4 Pin/3 Pin (Purple) - This 120mm fan will replace the 120mm fan that goes on the CPU cooler. It will look pretty damn nice. Other: Enokay 120mm Black Fan Grill / Guard with screws (2 pack)+ 8 Pieces screws - Because the filters in the case are atrocious. There's a lot of fluff for this build, and that's what I am going for. That's how it looks currently. I know, absolutely ugly, but I just slapped everything together to make sure everything worked. Will keep this updated as I get more parts. I suspect it'll be done around mid December.

Hey Guys! I've recently been paying a whole lot more attention to what i put in my computer hardware wise, meaning i don't just look at the highest number in the name of the thing and instantly think its better. I've also been dabbling in overclocking and successfully OCd my R7 360 to 1300MHz core clock and 1950MHz memory clock. Why go so in depth on my GPU? because i'm looking for recommendations for a new CPU to match (as i'm not comfortable overclocking that, i'd rather fork over the cash for a new one), or whether this one is fine for now and the bottle neck lies elsewhere. Current Hardware: Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A88X-D3H (AMD A88X Chipset), it has a FM2+ socket CPU: AMD A10-7700k 3.4Ghz GPU: PowerColor Radeon R7 360 (Personally OC'd to 1300MHz Core/1950Mhz Memory) Drive: (Dont laugh) WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD RAM: 8GB Feel Free to ask for anything else Also might be good to mention that i'm running games on a 1080p 60Hz Monitor (1920x1080) Going through my computer, that HDD may be a bottleneck as well...

I built an emergency computer because my laptop was dying and I needed to have somewhere to work. (And I really wanted to build a computer for a while now) I went on the super cheap and bougth a FM2+ motherboard and a A6-6400K APU. (I bougth an APU since I thougth I wouldnt have money for a Graphics Card in a long while). And it handled light gaming in an "acceptable" way. (30fps+ on American Truck Simulator, 60fps+ on CS:GO and League of Legends, all on the lowest settings possible, I had to stay away from more demanding games that I played on my laptop, like Tomb Raider and GTAV. But my dad surprised me with an RX470, which is really nice, but couldnt be more bottlenecked by my APU. So rigth now I'm on the search for the most powerful FM2+ CPU, rigth now I'm looking at the Athlon X4 880K, which I found at a YouTube "cheap build" and after seeing Benchmarks seems good enough, but if you google "best fm2+ cpu" you'll get the idea that the, more expensive (at least locally), and *apparently* less powerfull A10-7850K. So I'm confused, which is a better CPU? And is there a better FM2+ CPU which I could take a look? Thanks for any help beforehand.

What cooler would you recommend for around £25 that is good for the price, also do keep in mind that it has to be under 15cm otherwise it wont fit in my case as its Micro ATX.

Hey guys! Can you tell me what the best fm2+ processor is ? If you can tell me the best with a built in gpu and the best without one. Thanks!

This is my first topic post on these forums, so bear with and hello! I've been running an AMD A8-7600 in my rig (and previous) for about... 2 years. It's always been hot, but recently I've had hot weather and experienced what I think is thermal throttling for the first time on my system? There's always been the worry that my APU isn't good enough (at select times) and this throttling confirmed it for me, but I want to ask here to be sure (and troubleshoot). Under web-browsing and media load (YouTube or Soundcloud) it runs at 63 - 65 degrees. Idle at around 58 - 61. Under load anywhere from 68 - 80 (when I play Final Fantasy XIV, lower settings, DX11, no frame limit). That's in 24 degree weather. It was hotter the other day the 7600 was idling at 64 degrees without touching my PC. When gaming on FF again it hit 80 degrees+ and I was getting severe frame drops in-game whilst doing nothing intensive at all. I took the lid off my case and felt that my AiO's tubes were... above warm (but not hot). I use a Corsair H55i. My case has a 140mm BitFenix Spectre intake, a Noctua Radiator fan and 2 Noctua out-take fans in the rear. The MoBo was also pretty warm on this hotter day, but de-lidding the rig did relieve it of some stress and saw a couple of temp drops except on the APU. Since posting the pictures below my APU now reads at an average temperature of 66 degrees. That's now up and down this is. I have check and confirmed these figures with CPUID HWMonitor as well. I've been tempted to replace for awhile, and I'm not *quite* sure if: A. It needs replacing? B. What I can replace it with in this socket as it's all APUs or AMD x4 CPUs/ C. If it's something else like the AiO or just the fact I run ITX. D. What the actual safe temperatures of this APU are, and if mine is operating as it should/can be? See attached my whole rig at a glance through Speccy and then the CPU stats window. I have not fiddled with any hardware at all since installing it in this rig. All as-is. If I can improve my topic or the information provided, let me know for future reference. Look forward to hearing from y'all ^__^!

I recently posted about thermal-throttling issues on my rig running an AMD A8-7600. In the aftermath I started thinking about the best upgrade course. See whole PC spec on my profile, in the linked thread or... TL;DR - AMD A8-7600, 4GB DDR3, GTX 970, SSD & HDD, ITX. All I really do on this machine play Final Fantasy XIV, steam-games and odd interests that crop up like The Division, however I want them played as well as possible within my means. After building the ITX machine I've been left very, very strapped for cash on doing anything major like a new motherboard to Intel or AMD FX chips. So that leaves me on my current platform. My question is: What's the best possible upgrade I'm looking at on my current motherboard (ASRock FM2A88X-ITX)? Ideally I'd love to get a CPU, not an APU as I'd LOVE to experiment with overclocking I appreciate the AMD X4 CPUs are old. I'm running an amd Phenom II X4 955 on a spare machine and it throttles much less, but still throttles. Plus that's AM3. If it's one of the A10 APUs, so be it, but I just prefer the idea of a CPU having used both, really. Anyway. I know a lot less about computers in general than my language dictates. Halp? Thanks in advance. This forum has been amazing so far for me.

I have an issue my x4 860k has a weird temp reading. My thermal margins are above 50C at idle and above 35C at 100 percent load with turbo boost in AMD overdrive. However the bios reads a 50 C idle. and HW reads 50C idle. Although at load it reads 100C to 225C. I know this isn't possible. I have it water cooled for extreme overclocking but I don't want to ruin it not knowing the true temps. I've seen many people post about this about every FM2 or FM2+ CPU. Is this just a APU/Athlon thing?

Hello. How much of a performance difference in games will result from going single channel (1x8GB) instead of dual channel (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 on an A88X-powered Athlon x4 860K? Thanks.

yesterday, i find a cool motherboard FM2+ with two HDMI exit ports (that i was looking for, yey) and no, i don't have plans of gaming at 3840x1080p with a APU lol  i just play and web in one 1080p, and i like "watch movies" in the other 1080p (i love it) and come to my mind... why is this not a standard this days ? (is awesome) why not "all motherboards" this days have "two" HDMI ports ? is not expensive, and the cpus of this days, for sure can run it... http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4745#ov
