I'm running Windows 10 Pro on a self-built desktop, and nearly every time I log in, I get a "The Last USB device you plugged in experienced an error". It's very annoying. I'm certain this stems from an Unknown USB device in my device manager. To be specific, it says "Unknown USB Device (Link In Compliance Mode)". I know that in normal situations, you'd simply unplug and re-plug whatever device was having the issue. Problem is, I can't figure out what device this is referring to! I've unplugged everything, one device at a time, to see if that listing removed itself. Nothing. I even made sure to test with the devices using internal USB headers for case USB ports, media card reader, etc. I can remove ALL my USB devices, and that device listing is still there. I'm guessing it's some sort of integrated motherboard USB device. My bios and all my device drivers, including USB drivers are up to date. The properties for this entry in the device manager says the following: ---------- Unknown USB Device (Link In Compliance Mode) Device Type: Universal Serial Bus Controllers Manufacturer: (Standard USB Host Controller) Location: Port_#0022.Hub_#0001 Device Status: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) The SuperSpeed link to the USB device keeps going to an error state Compliance. If the device is removable, remove the device and then disable/enable from device manager to recover. ---------- Under "Details" I checked the Hardware ID, hoping there'd be something, but all that says is: "USB\PORT_LINK_COMPLIANCE_MODE" If I uninstall the device, it shows back up shortly, even if I haven't touched my USB ports. I do suppose I could Disable the device. But I'd like to save that as a last resort. I'd like to think I did a decent job of digging on my own for this, but now I need some help! My basic PC specs are below, please feel free to ask me any more details you might need. Thanks in advance! PC Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 980 MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (Rev: 1.0) With latest firmware) Boot SSD: Samsung 500GB SATA Storage HDD: Western Digital 3TB HDD Case: Corsair 650D OS: Windows 10 Pro

this is driving me crazy I am on a Windows machine. the ethernet device just doesn't get shown in the device manager. but if I restart the pc bunch of times randomly it does(this is no fun since my boot time is like 40 sec). when it does get shown it stays on and works perfectly fine. I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue. I tried the driver that asus provides and I have downloaded the latest driver which intel released for i-255-v after all the problem still lingers. I also had Ubuntu install disk so I boot into that and clicked try it, first time it detected the card and gave me internet. I restarted and was let's check to see if it was a fluke and to my surprise, it was next time it didn't get detected. so the geniuses here have any idea? thanks in advance for any help

Especially in online games, I have recently found that this feature called 'HPET', short for 'high precision event timer' may be the likely culprit. It was the reason why Hitman 3 was stuttering for me, which is a game that is always online. Don't try disabling it in Device Manager or the Bios, it won't do you any good. You'll have to open the command prompt window and type in the following commands in sequential order: bcdedit /set useplatformclock No bcdedit /set disabledynamictick Yes Restart the computer afterwards, and hopefully it will fix the stuttering. It might even increase the framerate.

I'm asking, because I think this is what is causing the stuttering in certain games like Hitman 3. Every fifteen seconds or so, the screen freezes. And I know its my ethernet causing the device manager screen to constantly refresh because it stops refreshing when I disconnect it. What gives here? I've tried reinstalling the drivers for my NIC Adaptor, even went with the nuclear option and reset the modem.

This may be dumb but lemme ask. I found in Device Manager the processor, and when righr click properties. 1st driver date is older 3 years than processor itself. And when go update driver, browse from list.It shows Intel Processor and just processor, here I just wanna know whats difference. ty

So I have an issue. I have a PC which I use for everything. Mining, regular internet use, plex, gaming. And 99% of the time no issues. But with now 2 games, I have the same damn issue that I cannot resolve. I have the integrated HD 530 that is on my 6700k. A EVGA 3080 ti AMD 6800xt MSI 6800xt Now my integrated is only on because I had an issue in the past with an old card dying and not being able to do anything until I borrowed a friends card to enable my integrated. It is not an issue. My 3080 ti, When not in use for gaming, is mining (using nicehash). Both of my monitors are connected to this card. and this card is in the top slot of the motherboard. my 6800xt (both) are mining 100% of the time. Long story short, 6800 got RMAed, It was taking forever and I managed to snag a 6800xt direct from AMD for cheaper. Then MSI upgraded after 3 months to a 6800xt when I went to BBB. Either way, now I have two games (age of empires 4 and dying light 2) that both do the same thing. They refuse to start on my 3080 ti. In windows 10, I make sure both are set to use the high power mode and it clearly states, 3080 ti. But they both ignore this. Both games don't have a choose graphics card option in their options menu, at least not that I can find. I have tried these instructions, but again no luck. They just refuse to start on the card I want. Does anyone have an idea of how I can force the game to run on the 3080ti. So far the only way I have found to make this work is by going into device manager, and disabling both 6800xt cards. But this often causes my PC to crash when I try restarting them, after I am done gaming. Is there a steam command, to get this working? or a short cut command? or something else entirely. And Please, go build a dedicated mining rig is not an answer I am looking for. I am frugal as fuck. I will mine until it is no longer worth it with these cards and then sell them with a heavy discount to one of my buddies, so they can upgrade their kids computers.

Hello fellow... "LTTers"? I wanted to use my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller on my Desktop PC, but the issue is that Nintendo Switch Controllers are dInput, instead of xInput. Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers on Windows should still connect automatically, but the issue is that the controller inputs themselves won't work properly other programs most of the time. You need 3rd party programs, such as BetterJoyforCemu, DS4Windows, or ProconXInput, which use ViGEM (or ScpVBus in ProConXInput's case) and HIDGuardian. Alternatively Steam has its own controller drivers, which I tried as well. So with that context, here's the full order of events: 1) I plugged in my Pro Controller through USB, and Windows detected it, and set it up as a game controller 2) I installed BetterJoyForCemu, and its Drivers [ViGEM & HIDGuardian] 3) Success! It worked! 4) Computer kept Blue Screening in a constant loop for unrelated reasons, and I eventually had to reinstall Windows. 5) Windows would not detect when I plugged in my Pro Controller anymore, no notification, no sound, nothing. 6) Nothing showed up in Device Manager either. 7) I spend over a week trying all the 3rd party solutions listed above. 8) I realize that none of this would work for the issue I'm having, since windows needs to detect the device, as a game controller, before any of these 3rd party solutions could do anything. 9) I make sure all of the windows power settings, such as power saving mode is not messing with the USB ports, (In power mode and in device manager) 10) Still nothing, I completely uninstall all of the 3rd party drivers, using this tutorial: https://vigem.org/projects/ViGEm/How-to-Install/ 11) I try to reinstall each solution individually, to try and see if any of them will work in desperation. 11) I download USBTreeViewer and try to figure out wtf was going on. 12) I am now asking for help, as I realize I am in way over my head, but I feel I am getting closer. p.s. both screenshots were taken 2-3 minutes apart, and the controller was plugged in for both. Reposted because wrong thread I think? It died with no replies for a week under peripherals.

Hello! Recently upon attempting to source the cause for my secondary monitor suddenly being unable to receive any image from my gpu, whether thru dp or hdmi, I discovered that the device manager reads my gpu with the little yellow triangle stating “Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)”, even tho my primary display is working just fine. Can anybody possibly point me in the direction to understand why this is happening?

I've digging all over the internet for a solution to no avail, and I'm hoping that the smart people of this forum might be able to help me on this one. I recently got a new pci-e WI-Fi card for Christmas. After installing it and the drivers, it was working great. Then I turned my computer off for the night, and the next day, it was gone from device manager. Looking at hidden devices, it gives me an error message of code 45. After trying many types of uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, and updating the BIOS, I eventually moved it to another PCI-e slot. where it was working fine, until I shutdown the PC, and the same story happens, regardless of PCI-e slot. I tried simply unplugging it and plugging it back in to the same slot after uninstalling the device in device manager and restarting, and that seemed to work. After many variations, I find that the quickest solution is while the PC is on, unplug and plug back in the PCI-E card. I then get error message 12 I then restart the Pc and it's working again. I really don't want to have to go through this process every time I turn on my computer, so if anyone here has a potential solution, I'd be glad to hear it! I really hope we can figure this out. Thanks in advance for any help this may receive!

I have a lenovo laptop. When I generate sleep-study report on it I have a unregistered device listed as the top offender (picture attached) while in sleep mode. This device is shown as Unregistered Device \_SB.PCI0.SAT0.VOL0 . Moreover its active 100% of the time during the sleep which causes huge battery drain during the sleep. Can you tell me 1> What this device is? 2>why its being active all the time during sleep? 3>how to solve the issue? I have also attached the sleepstudy report for more information. I have also tried fresh install of windows many times, but eventually every time this problem appears after some time. sleepstudy-report.html

I've tried two different cables and the device manager screen is still constantly refreshing. I know for a fact its the Ethernet Cable, or the Ethernet Ports doing it because it stops refreshing as soon as I unplug the cable. What the hell is the deal here?

Hi, So I just got a USB C hub for my XPS 13 2-in-1 (7390) and I cannot seem to get my mouse or keyboard to work with it. My external hard drive works fine when plugged into it. I am thinking it is having a hard time finding the USB 2.0 devices through the hub. I know my computer is able to use these usb 2.0 devices, though, since they work just fine if i use a basic USB C-A adapter. Another strange part (and the part where I think it is messing up) is in device manager (pictured below), Only the "Generic Superspeed USB hub" shows up. When I plug it into any other computer the superspeed and another just "Generic USB hub" appears...... (Every once in a while the non-superspeed hub will show up then disappear right afterwards) I am not sure if this is happening because this is the only thunderbolt machine I have tested it on, or some other driver issue (I have gone to dell's website and at least tried to install every USB/Thunderbolt-relevant driver)

Dealing with a VERY strange driver issue on computer. This has to do with the Broadcom Wifi Driver for my Asus Rampage V Edition 10 Motherboard. I have my computer wired in via ethernet so I didn't notice when this first happened. But first my WiFi adapter stopped showing up in Windows (10 Pro). I looked into my device manager and saw that I had not Wifi Device, or nothing WiFi related in my network adapters. I redownloaded drivers from asus's website, and the bundled installer would silently fail, and when I navigated to manually in stall the driver, I would get a "update.cpp 1189" error in the broadcom wifi driver installer process. I even fully reinstalled windows on my boot drive and the second I booted in, I saw no driver, and the driver reinstall failed like before. I see device with an error in my device manager, and I'm thinking this is the messed up wifi driver. Somehow windows automatic driver installs on first boot of the machine is grabbing this bad one? This is just speculation, but I'm looking for some help here. Thanks, Rizen.

I recently got a new hard drive, a 1 TB WD Blue and installed it into my PC. Bios recognized it as a hard drive, so I load into Windows, check for my drive in disk management and it doesn't appear. I then check device manager and I see it listed there under disk drives and it says "working properly." I can't get to the formatting stage as it won't recognize it in disk manager. Anyone have any help for me? This is the first time I've installed a second hard drive and I don't know where I went wrong. Thanks

When I boot my pc, windows forces me to have an on-board graphics, I tried to find an option on bios where you can pick your primary display, but unfortunately it doesn't have that feature, I also tried updating the video card using AMD software and it also doesn't detect my Video Card. I am pretty sure that power, wirings and watts are not the cause, I also tried to plug out and plug in my videocard several times but still no results. I will uninstall the intel graphics after i finish this forum and I'll be updating you guys whole day until its fixed, thank you so much in advance, sorry for my bad grammars and terrible knowledge about computer stuff, bye bye.

Hi everyone, It has happened today, I was playing video-games and suddendly, while I was connecting my JBL Charge 3 to my laptop, bluetooth disappeared. Windows Parameters says I've got no bluetooth on this PC. Device Manager doesn't show my bluetooth card but started showing an 'Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)'. Services.msc still shows Blutooth Service Support. I've already browse accross the net but nothing helped me. What I've done : - rebooting my computer ; - uninstalling the mysterious unknown USB device ; - scanning for hardware changes ; - disabled the unknown device and enabled it back ; - rebooting again my laptop... I don't know what else I can do. It has happened to me once and it came back enabled and working until now. What can I do now ? PC configuration in my bio.

I have a laptop asus x456urk core i5 7200u with dual graphics Intel hd and GeForce 930mx. the problem probably (I'm not sure) occurred when I did an overclock to my vga with msi after burner and I got Blue screen of death, and before that my os, windows 10, was probably upgrading itself, because I got an option "shutdown and upgrade" and I let windows update its self well I am not totally sure if it is the case because few hours latterI turned on my laptop , and I played pubg mobile emulator and it still worked fine, and my NVidia was still working fine, the fps is normal as usual, and thers still NVIDIA appeared in msi after burner, and device manager. but I found that NVidia control panel did not appear while I do the right click... Found my self disturbed with the absence of NVidia control panel in the right click. the I uninstalled NVidia driver. and started again with the latest nvidia driver. and boom!!! I found the error "NVidia driver cant find compatible hardware graphics " and " this driver is not compatible with the version of windows". so I checked the device manager and its not detected any longer heres the lists ive done after getting this error 1. using system restore back to the previous version of windows, (no luck) I applied set devmgmt_show_hiden_devices=1 in Command Prompt. my NVidia appeared grey in DM and i got error "the graphic hardware is no longer connected". 2. I updated the bios to the latest one (no luck) when I'm in BIOS configuration.. I really shock, that my bios is detecting wrong NVidia graphic. it is written as Intel HD 620 and NVIDIA 940MX. I tried downgrading bios as well as upgrading it. and it still shows wrong Nvidia. I wonder wheres my 930mx ? 3. then I bought ssd replace my old hdd and did the clean-installation for the win 10, I still got eror "the graphic hardware is no longer connected" while installing NVidia driver . (still no luck) 4. tried iobit driver booster and still theres no any signs of nivdia in my pc. 5. tried uninstall NVidia driver in DDU, (still no luck) 6. the I dissembled my laptop, clean up some dust, replace a new thermal paste (still no luck) well it looks like theres no problem with my hardware. well the laptop is still running smoothly, even though without my 930mx. I cant play any game no more, I tried playing Pubg mobile emulator and the fps drops so much, I only get like below 30. while with the 930mx I got 60 fps. I don't know whats wrong with this laptop.. probably you guys here can solve this issue. here I give you whole information about my pc I got from dxdiag DxDiag.txt. if anyone of u can help me,, I would really appreciate it.

Recently cloned an old hard drive to a new SSD and got it booting windows 7 again. Great, but had no sound. Tried installing new drivers to no avail. Tried the troubleshooter, nothing. There wasnt even a playback device showing up. It's an HP laptop so I tried downloading the HP support assistant to see if their hardware detection could save me, but it told me I had no speakers or microphones installed. Went to device manager to see what was happening and tried updating the driver there, didn't work. Deleted the driver and I guess I accidentally deleted the entire audio capability? No audio category shows up anymore in device manager. Is there anyway back from this?

"Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" is listed above my graphics card in device manager. When I check device status: This is a new system. I have already used DDU before installing latest Nvidia driver for my card. What can I do to resolve this? Thanks in advance
